Farshtey Feed, Kinetics Reasons, Ogd, And Other News

Various little updates on S&T, EM, and other stuff:   1) See the blog entry below for the Denizens Tiebreaker. Sorry for the delay, that crazy ole' real life again. On the plus side, that computer is fixed. Think it'll be a month before it conks out this time? XD And sorry for pushing the tiebreaker off the top spot with this entry; I felt this shouldn't be delayed. I plan to repub the tiebreaker tomorrow morning.   2) I'm for Kinetics as a canon element (there's a poll about it now). If

How To Avoid Frustration

From time to time, BZPower gets an influx of so many new members, and older members who are aware of major goings on move on to other things. Turnover, it's called. People in general also tend to make some common mistakes before they learn better -- but we can help them avoid such mistakes by telling them the lessons we and others have already learned. We can also do it with humor. Which brings me to the first point of this entry: to give a big shout-out to Turakii's very wise entry here.

Art Extension, Twisted Island Finished, Etc.

Re: previous blog entry:   The Multiverse Guide Art contest is now extended another two weeks. The new deadline is Monday February 1st, midnight EST. That's two extra weeks.   Reasoning being, besides there being so many art slots still untaken, I'm still too busy right now to put everything together for judging, and wouldn't mind another two weeks to catch up with stuff.     In other news, my epic Twisted Island has now been completely posted.   Over the next few weeks, I plan to continu

Denizens Finals And Art Deadline

EMC updates:   1) Denizens final polls for Description and MOC categories are now up. All shalt voteth betwixt now and yonder deadline of January 25th!   2) Multiverse art blog contest deadline is in four days. Anybody need an extension of a week or two? One person has said so, but I probably won't extend it unless more than one person need it. It's been three months after all.   3) No real news about Tyrants except that there are already a lot of great entries in both categories. Keep 'em

Em Discussion Notice & Other Updates

Random Updates:   1) NOTICE for EM Discussion Topic:   If yall could hold off on asking more questions for a few days, 'twould be appreciated. I'm very far behind right now, and am focusing on going through the whole Discussion topic from the start and grabbing copypasted quotes of important stuff to put in the FAQ or something, as well as those things Swert and I still have to pin down.   Will try to catch up answering questions on Sunday or Monday.   But don't take my request as a demand.

The End

Real quick, my reactions to the news about Bionicle: 1) I think this is probably a good time to end Bionicle. It didn't surprise me, and the rumors were flying long enough that I'm not disappointed. We will have had ten years of awesome sets and story. The sets have gotten so advanced there was little to no room left for improvement. The story has reached -- or is reaching -- the possibility for the perfect climactic ending. 2) I might be a bit selfish in my reaction to this, though. I've

Unseen Chapter 3

Today the Bones Blog brings you Chapter Three of this Bionicle Paracosmos blog-exclusive "Adventure Mystery" short epic, which serves as a slow-reveal of the winner of the Monster Mystery Art contest. Previous Chapters: 1 | 2 Chapter 3 Le-Metru, at the Destral Rock... Hujo walked over to Surkahi. "Are these past Unseen incident records?" he asked, pointing to the bag the Unknown carried. Surkahi nodded. "And many notes Jorthao made about various creatures that could act as Unseen

Notice

Notice: I'm more or less down to only one computer again; the fast one conked out again. I think it's just too powerful for its own good XD. And other Dreaded Real Life things are delaying me.   I ask everybody's patience as the things I've scheduled to have finished on here last week are dragging out like crazy.   Safety in Numbers and the blog-exclusive Unseen should stay on schedule, but not much else. Taking a bit of a break from Twisted Island, unfortunately. And obviously the Denizens

Unseen -- Chapter 2 -- Monster Mystery Results

Today the Bones Blog brings you Chapter Two of this Bionicle Paracosmos blog-exclusive "Adventure Mystery" short epic, which serves as a slow-reveal of the winner of the Monster Mystery Art contest. Previous Chapter: 1 Chapter 2 I, Hujo, got the call moments after the most important mission in recent Paracosmos history began, so important we dare not inscribe the nature of it in this record. Metru Nui was in trouble -- and there was a mystery I needed to solve... The Ta-Matoran with

Unseen -- Chapter 1 -- Monster Mystery Results

Today the Bones Blog brings you Chapter One of this Bionicle Paracosmos blog-exclusive "Adventure Mystery" short epic, which serves as a slow-reveal of the winner of the Monster Mystery Art contest. No need to read previous stories to understand it; if you want to though, see here (this story does contain Mindfire spoilers -- my Epics-Contest-winning murder mystery; that would be a good single story to read before starting this). Multiverse Guide Art Contest!

We have a 100 page Multiverse Guide. [Edit: Here's the link to the Guide V2!] It's got just about all the text it needs. But it could use a lot of art. That's what this mini-contest is for! Now, even though we didn't intentionally aim for 100 pages, now that that's what it is, we like it and we wanna keep it that way. Therefore, we only have room for art in specific spots where there is whitespace, or where later whitespace could absorb expansion. So I've composed a list of specific image

Em: Safety In Numbers, Denizens Extension

Expanded Multiverse updates: Cipher Chronicles Episode 1: Safety in Numbers has begun! This is a short epic of ten total chapters, the first chapter of which is up now. Enjoy! Also, there's a Mini-Guide in episode one's review topic, with some new information especially about characters' tools and about three new species. This Guide focuses specifically on what's featured or mentioned in this episode, not the overall Multiverse per se. The Denizens contest has been extended by

Taste Reset Bars Exercise

Today the Bones Blog brings you a simple psychological exercise I have often found beneficial, which can help you learn to enjoy new things better. Bold is for the basic points. This was originally posted in response to someone who argued for imposing negative personal tastes on others. I do not agree with imposing tastes on others, but in reply to him I pointed out that by that logic, we could argue that it's far better for the majority to try to change the disgruntled majority to like wha

Bionicle Ends Right Now

No, not really. But wanted to make a point about all this speculation "oh, it's ending, oh it's not" back and forth. Guys. Always assume you are in the last year of Bionicle. Tell yourself, all the time, "this good thing could end right now; I can't take it for granted." It's better to be prepared for the worst, so that when the best happens, you are pleasantly surprised. The other way around, you're either "okay" or dissapointed all the time. Not a healthy mindest -- when you take thin

Vulture Poll Up

The poll about alternatives for "Mask of Vulture" is now up, Vote away.     In other news, the EM Industrial Weapons Guide PDF is nearly done, and the first episode of the Cipher Chronicles has a good chunk written. I think I'll probably launch both of those before doing the BRC topic. Then we can have a big ol' news article detailing all the new stuff from the contest to the 1st CC episode.   One thing I'm not sure about is, should the CC episodes get their own separate review topics in Ep

Kool Last Chance, Vulture Alt Names

Two important updates:   1) Last chance to enter the Bohrok Kool contest. Ends this Tuesday at midnight EST! [Edit:] That's just a few hours left!   2) I want to do a poll asking opinions on the best mask name for (what is currently called) Vulture. See my previous blog entry for full details and discussion; basically it's a power that Toa consider immoral, absorbing escaping energies (esp. life energy) from recently dead in your vicinity. Vulture is the name with the most reasons behind it (s

17 Mask Power Inspirations

Alright, this blog entry will explain the inspirations behind the choices of which power to assign to which (previously Unknown) official mask shape. For those that don't know what I'm talking, click here. Greg approved these seventeen powers (eleven of them written originally for the Expanded Multiverse, where they also use the official shapes) to be canon.   Several people have wondered what the inspirations were, and so I'll just put it all in one place. This isn't necessarily including ev

Updates: Multiverse, Bohrok Kool, My Horrible Memory, Etc.

Updaaaayyyyytzzzz!   1) Okay, before BZP went offline, I had been talking to someone, about something, and it came out that I said I would PM Greg and ask him about it. And I can't, for the life of me, remember who I was talking to or what it was about. If you're that guy, please PM a reminder.   2) Bohrok Kool contest deadline is extended to September 15, midnight EST (a Tuesday. I like ending contests on Tuesdays, have you noticed? lol).   3) Multiverse stuff is happening fast! First, go

Secure Password Method -- Bang (strategically) On Keyboard

A lot of people don't seem to know about this method, so here you go. Been meaning to do this for a while, recent events merely reminded me. Note, please take into account the suggestions mentioned in this Refdesk topic. Also HH has good tips here.   The most secure passwords are random strings of as wide a range of keyboard characters as possible. An easy way to create them is to bang on your keyboard.   It sounds primitive -- it is -- yet it gives you the most secure possible password. The

Half An Apple Tree, Half Computer Power

Did you know it's possible to down an apple tree -- or half of one, at least -- merely by the weight of the apples itself? It is. Here's the reasons I have been very inactive in recent weeks: 1) Half of the apple tree in our backyard fell down a few weeks ago. Remember I said I was dogsitting? Exactly one day after the dogs went back home, the tree fell. During that week before it fell, I had spent hours upon hours trimming the low-hanging branches, cutting off tons of weight, and then

Enigma Pacman Available For Download!

Bionicle Paracosmos: Enigma Pacman Inspired by Pacman, taking place in the Bionicle Paracosmos location Twisted Island (from my fanfics), this is a one-map arcade game with a short "Adventure Mystery" storyline.
