Love, Beauty, Etcetera

Dear Reader,   As you well know, love is a thing which captivates many a person. People often go so far as to speculate pairings between fictional characters. I admit that I myself believe in many of these pairings, such as Takanuva+Gali (still love that Greg made her the first one Takanuva asked about in Dark Mirror, Onewa+Krahka, and Jaller+Hahli. However, there is another pairing I support more than any other, and that is Auric+Cerule.   Auric and Cerule are two characters-- or perhaps peop

Here's To You, Lady K!

This picture is based on the pics that Lady K uploaded of herself recently. She said I could post it, but I didn't know what forum to put it in. Lyichir suggested that I put it in my blog, so here it is!   I've been practicing recently, so... yeah, post comments and criticism.   Aanchir was here

LEGO Ninjago New Episodes Resume This Wednesday!

Didn't want to double-post in the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV series topic, so figured I'd post it here to make sure the BZPower crowd knew to expect a new episode.   If you've seen the trailer for this one (which aired during the LEGO Star Wars special The Empire Strikes Out), you know that this upcoming episode introduces the Stone Army as well as     Also I have it on good authority that this next episode will start the plot moving along at a rather exciting pace. There's lots of good m

Obligatory Twinkie entry

I don't really ship it, to be perfectly honest. The only Mane Six ships I really have much support for are Flutterdash and Twidash, and both because I think they're cute rather than because I have any interest in seeing those relationships develop into romantic ones. Rarijack is cute but at the same time I'm really enjoying seeing how Spike's relationship with Rarity is developing. With that in mind, I'm not a Sparity shipper in that I would be severely peeved if it turns out that he and Rarity

Big Announcement

Dear friends,   The past year has been really bumpy for me in a lot of ways. I’ve grappled with emotional dependency, depression, anxiety, and more. One good thing that has come about over the past year, albeit with some challenges of its own along the way, is thinking critically about my gender identity, which has led to some big realizations.   For a long time I have related really well to my female peers and have felt deeply invested in their personal struggles. Many of the fictional characte

From: Dino 2012 Theme

The LEGO Dino site is updated with the "Base", "Nest", and "Fun Zone sections. The Nest sections shows you things about the dinos, while the Base section shows you things about the human characters.   The main character's name in the Base section is Josh Thunder.   Discuss.     Source: Dino 2012 Theme

Spring Break Plans

Taking the bus down from Boston to D.C., then the Metro to Alexandria. Gonna be hanging out with the brony group from my hometown I recently learned of. It's gonna be tight.   Oh, I'm sorry, is my outdated slang bothering you? Let me reconfigure.   It's gonna be crucial.

BIONICLE Movie Soundtracks

I was just listening to some BIONICLE movie soundtracks on BioMedia Project. While it's good for a nostalgia kick, I'm finding that much of the music is just as generic as I remembered.   I don't mean that in the sense that it's not memorable or distinctive. It definitely checks both of those boxes. But there's nothing about it that makes it a particularly apt fit for the BIONICLE story and universe in particular. A lot of it sounds like it could just as easily belong to an adaptation of any adv

2008 Set Updates

Icarax's head is attached in a way that is nothing short of ridiculous. Never should a Metru head be used with the Kraahkan in the angled configuration. LEGO has apparently attained the mistaken belief that the Kongu Mahri eyepiece will let them get away with any sort of head issues. Well, LEGO, that's not correct. The Kongu Mahri eyepiece is an opportunity to do things you couldn't do with older eyepieces, but NOT an opportunity to do things you could do but would look terrible.   His tools ar

What Fun!

Tomorrow's my birthday! Which means tomorrow's Lyichir's birthday as well!   I really am not doing much to celebrate, although I am going to Rome over spring break. But as of right now, I should be available tomorrow.   Just thought I'd keep you informed, since I'm such a new member.   -

Greetings, Everypeoples!

I'm back from Family Camp at Camp Alleghany in West Virginia with my... err... family, and life is good! Let me update you on some stuff that might interest y'all.   First and foremost, I GOTS THE MAHRI! Certainly, this happened before I left on Saturday, but I hadn't the time then to make a blog entry. So far, my favorite Mahri in terms of both sets and story are Kongu and Matoro. You can probably expect some Mahri drawings soon.   Also, I have now read both Eragon and Eldest, as well as The

Art Contest 18: Final Poll Open!

My entry, Swarm of the Century, narrowly made it through Preliminary Poll A, and as such it's now a contender in the final poll! Click here to go to the poll!   I think it goes without saying that Crunchy's two entries, which dominated the preliminary polls, will also sweep the voting in this poll. It's kind of a shame, because the rules state that each member can only have one winning entry, and I'm worried that with Crunchy's entries so likely to get most of the votes, the margin between the r

Tunneler Beast and related musings

Earlier I was looking at how this year's Hero Factory sets compare to similarly-priced BIONICLE sets in terms of complexity. Turns out they fare rather well. Let's look at one in particular: 44024 Tunneler Beast.     Tunneler Beast is a $9.99 set coming out this summer (as such, it's at the lowest price point for this year's sets). It boasts 59 pieces (45 if you don't include the minifigure or his accessories) and 20 points of articulation (15 if you don't include the jaw and fingers, which onl

To All Of Those Artists Out There

I need some advice. I have recently made another attempt at making a permanent Human-styled Bionicle topic. However, it is not doing so well, since it is already on the second page and I, being the last poster, can not bring it back to the first page when I upload new art. My question is how do you make a permanent artwork topic? Lady Kopaka, Brave Dragon, and Nikira each have compiled their artwork in topics that do amazingly welll at staying alive, as have many other members. If you have a per

Life Updates 7/30/2012

So here's the highlights of my past week. I'm going through them briefly because I just spent an hour or longer typing out an entry about them and then hit the back button and lost everything, but brevity probably would have been better in the first place.   Watched the second episode of this season of LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Lord Garmadon's mega-weapon is a great addition to the story and is truly in line with the LEGO spirit of creativity. And it's great getting some backstory on

Obligatory New Header Entry

So the new header is cool. There could be improvement (some space between Tohu and the BZPower text could help, and it's a bit weird having the text and image overlaid on the dark blue stripe rather than above it vertically), but for me it represents the dynamic status of BZPower as a whole as it changes from strictly a BIONICLE site into something that, in my opinion, better celebrates BIONICLE's lasting influence.   See, with BIONICLE over, it isn't providing the site with anything new to disc

Toa Mata Nui Revealed!

From the new PICTURE REVIEW IN THE SETS FORUM (No link! Quick, everyone, make haste!), the titan-sized Mata Nui met all of my expectations. Overall decent color scheme (except the gold, which seems from pics to irredeemably clash with everything else), BEAUTIFUL build (except the shoulders, which would have been questionable on Takanuva and are really pathetic here), and an ingenious piston style.   But as I predicted, the gold is possibly the set's biggest flaw. I wish so dearly that the Ignik

Stumbling through songwriting

I was just catching up on BZPower blogs and came across Windrider's recent blog entry where she came out as transgender. At some point after I finished reading it I felt inspired, so I started typing on my phone until I had some decent-sounding song lyrics. Unfortunately, I neither write nor play music, so the chance of turning this into a finished song is extremely uncertain. But I figured I'd share them here.   The song is actually BIONICLE-related, written from the perspective of Takanuva aft

Phantoka (p)review-- Part Two

Now that we have good pics of the Makuta Phantoka, I feel fit to continue my review.   Vamprah looks to be rather awesome. His mask is nice (but I foresee it being a pain to draw in my new style), and his limbs are nice. The silver Takadox armor will be a MOCist's dream, at least once they make more of it. Limbs are nice. His wing/arm design is marvelously batlike, and I love the legs. Wing pieces leave something to be desired ("something" being practical pistons). I wonder why he has to have f

Does Anyone Know...

... how to use preexisting footage from a DVD *coughWebofShadowscough* for a music video? I'm trying to make a Bionicle music video on Windows Movie Maker (I know it's cheap, but what can I say; it came with the computer), but I can't find a way to save the movie footage I need to my computer. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance.   With all due respect, Aanchir: Rachira of Time
