My Computer Hates Me

Duuuude...   Okay, my laptop has a modem port, or whatever, so I can connect directly into the Ethernet port in my dorm room. It's really convenient... high speed access and everything. It's great.   Except when my connection port on my laptop dies. The connection has been loose for quite a while, but I hardly ever unplugged it while I was at school, and I used wireless internet over the summer. So when I went back to school, I thought it wouldn't be a problem.   Now here I am. An hour a

Paint

While helping paint the Haunted House, I've realized how useful paint thinner is. When you get sticky white paint all over your hands, it doesn't come off using a little soap and water... but some solvents work better. Yet the paint jobs looks pretty good... nice and scary.   Oh, and I'm writing a scary story for Spanish, and just because I can, I think I'll add Tahu into it.

This will be a pain to sort...

Instagram pict here   I'm trying to prepare for BricksCascade, and I have a couple of models I want to construct. But I inevitably have to go thru the pile from last year, which includes a bunch of partial MOCs and sets that I've been meaning to part out and sort, but never got around to it. And... that pile is intimidating. I wish I could get a full team of AFOLs to come sort it all in an afternoon like I've seen em do at PortLug... but I don't know that many people in the area, and my house is

BTW, Voted

Actually filled out my ballot last Friday, but got it put in the mail today.   And even tho I watched the full debate, my mind was already made up. (And having watch it, it just made me more determined to vote my way.)   That way being Obama. Also went generally Democrat for the state positions too. Especially hoping to replace my Republican Representative, whom I sent a letter to a year ago and got a response that boiled down to "thanks for contacting me, here is why I'm doing the exact oppo

Fake Out!

Excerpt from one of my stories...   I threw my hands up as they aimed at me. There were more people here than I was counting on. I would need to bluff my way through this. “Don’t any of you move,” I said. “We’ve got you surrounded.”   “I don’t think you understand you predicament,” one of the men said, his gun pointed at my head.   “Yeah, we have you,” another one said.   “Really,” I replied. “Well, I bet you weren’t expecting that!” I pointed behind them, and amazingly, most of them sp

Class Example

So in class tonight we discussed the different ways we looked for engagement in social media. My example of insulting Internet browsers actually got showcased. Okay, so it wasn't the most honorable way of getting posts, since I knew it was a topic that would tick most people off and thus entice them to post. But it didn't get too flamy, and people actually had some decent responses to which browsers they prefer, ext. But my professor actually read the comments and mentioned to the class

Finished With My Eagle Project

Yep. All that stuff about installing benches and all that I griped about last month is over. I've completed my Eagle project, finished all my merit badges, and got almost everything signed off. Now I just need to pass my Eagle Board in a few weeks, and I'll be of a new rank.   Not that I'll get it, because the Board is suppose to be very tough on you. But I have hopes. And now a little bit more freetime to focus on... homework! UHG.

A Day of Cascade

So I registered for Bricks Cascade. Only instead of going for the full convention, I'm only going to make it on Saturday. All day Saturday, so any cool stuff going on I can be a part of... but nothing Friday or Sunday.   See, even though I've lived near Portland for years, I'm currently working in Dallas. So my plans are to fly to Portland Friday night, hang out on Saturday, and head back Sunday morning and be ready for work the following Monday.   I'm lucky in one aspect that I can fly non-r

A Hike

I could probably go on and on about the hike in the North Cascades I went on last weekend. About all the trouble packing it, the drive there and back, the crazy-hot weather, the various animals that were in no way very exciting, or the injuries I sustained and pain I endured. Instead, I'll just post some statistics.   40 pound backpack 3 days hiking, two nights backpack camping Overall roughly 17 miles transversed We climbed at least 2,000 feet in elevation each day, sometimes more Highest we
