The other day I was researching on a couple of sites to see who had the best deal on a product. (Korra Season 3, ended up picking it up from Target.) But despite having made the purchase, I keep getting ads from the various places I searched (Amazon, BestBuy, and Target) telling me they have the product I was searching for. Ya, that's right you do, cause I specifically searched for it on your site, and in Target's instance, I actually bought it there. So why are you still showing me the ad for i
Spoilers below Smaug burns and eats everybody and then goes to sleep on his gold pillow. He also burns Sauron too, just cause. And that is the story of how Bilbo and Smaug moved into 22B Baker Street together and now solve crimes.
Fred Meyers has let again released a series of collectible minifigures earlier than anybody else. They did it with Series 3, they did it with the Lego Movie batch, and they're doing it again with Series 13. Granted, I had to go through three stores to find one that had em in stock (and now I'm kicking myself for not just buying the whole crew). If I can make a future trip and secure the rest, I might do another full review, but for now, some quick notes! Unicorn Girl: Eh, kinda bland, at lea
I've been working on some displays to spice up my apartment, specifically of some of my Bionicle / Lego collectibles. (Side note, I am clearly not a normal person.) I got two finished up and wanted to share pictures. Yay! Kanohi-Collection by Xccj, on Flickr This is a full set of the original 72 Kanohi, plus the gold and silver great masks. It doesn't include room for rare masks or misprints or Matoran masks or Rahi masks... I wanted the colors to match. I originally made a similar design a
As per the recommendation of some blog readers, I recently purchased the Pet Shop modular building during one of those Lego.com sales... I think it was the VIP one. See, I'm currently working on displays for my apartment, and I thought a big building would be fairly awesome. Well, today I got it in the mail (a day early actually.) So instead of sorting my collection, I went and built the building... and it only took three and a half hours. But yay. Unfortunately, I'm slightly disappointed.
Well, I am now dedicated to going full time to Bricks Cascade since I'll be a theme coordinator (for steampunk.) So perhaps now it's time to start thinking about a collaborative project. One idea is another Bionicle mosaic. I have a stand that can fit 4x4 baseplates, so 128x128 as studs. I'm thinking it would be easy to translate some scene from the new animations into a mosaic. Another idea is maybe a sculpture of the new island, now that we've gotten some better images. Although it would b
The new Detective's Office model that's been seen around lately looks rather nice, and now I'm tempted to maybe get one. And if I do, perhaps I should also look like some of the older ones, so I can get a few of them before they disappear from production. This idea is terrible financially, since these things aren't exactly cheap. But it seems like a good idea when I'm putting up displays around my apartment and going "Gee, I don't have that many structures to put my minifigs next to." And of
I finally got the first chapter up! I make no promises in how fast I'll update this, cause I'll be writing it on the fly, but so long as there's interest, I'll make every attempt to keep it moving forward. Maybe it'll be enough to get me back to writing regularly again. That's the first "story" chapter I've written in about a year. You guys did give me quite a cast of characters to work with. Quite a lot of "loners" for this group adventure, and half of ya are experts at Bionicle mythology i
EDIT: I've started on this, so any new entries will not be major characters. I have an idea for a new story to celebrate the return of Bionicle. Specifically, a story featuring members of BZ-Koro, the virtual village where Bionicle fans hang out. (An analogy for BZPower, obviously.) I planning to use a few story tricks I’ve done previously, and one of those is to have members submit their names to become major characters! All you’d have to do is fill out a short entry form in this blog and I
The ORIGINAL Collectibles. For constraction figures, anyway. Cause they were kindof the first ones... never mind. Anyway, a few key Bricklink purchases (including one from Germany) and my collection is filling up. Of course, I already had the top two rows, cause those are the ones that came with the sets... although I did buy a few extras because I had either lost the originals or deformed them. (There was a brief period of playing with my Throwbots next to a hot light... and that was when I l
Click for Review Well, THAT was more work than it was worth. I mean, I don't know if anybody's really excited for these anymore / wants to know how to feel for them. But then, I kind of feel the same about all reviews I do lately. Like, is it really worth stressing out to get these done quickly when other sites have done the same thing already and nobody here really gives a care anyhow. Granted, it's the only time I seem to do news anymore, so I guess I need to do it if I want to keep my job
So the first thing I do when I get Internet? It's not work on the projects I said I would. It was download the new Legend of Korra game off Steam and play it. (I only recently downloaded Steam when it wouldn't let me download Lego Marvel without it. I got a couple of games at the beginning of the summer but I've been so swamps with stuff in the last few... months, that I've hardly done any actual "gaming".) Anyway, the Korra game is fun. Decent animation and voice acting, which is cool since t
Swert's post of his new, completed collection the other day has made me rethink my collection and look through it recently. Curse you, Swert, now I want to work on mine!! I actually already have the original 72 masks, plus gold and silver, for a few years now. (I did a challenge where I built a model for every mask of the Toa's 36, which resulted in some cool Rahi and a lot of Meh Rahi.) One tempting idea is to go for the misprints... I currently have 5 of the 14, but gosh that's expensive. I
I'm moving on Tuesday and today I finally got around to calling about the Internet. (I was putting it off cause I always get put on hold. Last time I did it I was on the phone for over an hour going over details. This time, it only took 20 minutes... but still!) Anyway, I'm currently in a lousy place where I can only get 6 MBPS (which they never really advertised to me... but I've only really recorded 2 MBPS so that estimate was off anyway.) And where I'm moving to can boost me all the way up
No Dark Side? No Problem! by Xccj, on Flickr So this is my new last-minute BrickCon Project. I mentioned in my earlier entry that the Dark Side display, which is meant for black light MOCs and MOCs with lights that look better in the dark, has apparently been discontinued this year. I'm basing this on my observation of them removing it from their theme list on the website. (I had a few MOCs registered for it, and then they got moved to "uncategorized".) In previous years, the display was a g
Tea with a Time Traveling T-Rex in a Top Hat by Xccj, on Flickr A Victorian era time traveler is visiting a T-Rex, who is from an alternate dimension and is also dressed for the Victorian era and has time traveled, and together they share a cup of tea. (It makes more sense in context.) This is for the ChronoCon 10,000BC theme being hosted by Brothers Brick at BrickCon 2014. And I mean, I think they've either done a lame job promoting it, or everybody else is keeping their designs close to th
On the heels of my last Ninjago review for the year, I have to admit that I was a fan for this wave through and through. And I also had the budget to buy most of them. (Well, except for the Ninjago City Temple, which is still on my wish list... waiting until October for double VIP points) But just saying "Buy em all" is a poor buyer's guide, so I should think on a more limited income level. So here's a quick rehash of my opinion of what Ninjago sets to get this year. In case you hadn't decided y
I'm not taking credit for this idea, cause I know B6 has done the badges on a sash before, and I know there are people who've made wearable-MOCs before. And I know that this isn't even that large of a brick badge compared to some. But it's an idea that I've had for a while, and finally rushed it out to see how it'll work. (Cropped out the ugly tho, for everybody's sanity.) It's a bit clunky, but it seems to fit alright, considering it's basically a strap of Hero factory joints. The brick secti
The theme for the black light display at BrickCon has been removed from their website. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! What am I going to do with my two black-light MOCs now??
Temple of the Avohkii by Xccj, on Flickr With Bionicle's return, we must make known our presence, less our human sacrifices been made in vain! (What, you think people left BZPower because they grew out of the theme? Get real.) This is for a BrickCon project that somebody in Port-LUG said they wanted to put on. Since an email and a Flickr group a couple months ago, nothing more has been communication, so I assume it's still a thing. I guess I'm also in a couple of contests. I got my game s
