Project Mata Nui Progress: From The Swert's Eyes.

Oho man, we're not even close to being done, but I'm excited for this leg of the stretch. With two days to go, we need a bit of a miracle at this point to keep us going   I think on Sunday, if we don't end up working on the island, I'm going to post a random set of photos we took with my camera that shows behind-the-scenes and more in-detail photos of some of the construction methods used.   Also, I should post a few of our easter eggs and see if you can tell what they are. We have at least two

Project Build Mata Nui Officially Begins!

And we're off to a slow start, as usual.   I have to build the volcano (won't take long) and then we build Mt. Ihu, then decorate 47 more baseplates with plates and bricks.   In other words, we've got a lot of work ahead of us x_x   But hey, MATA NUI : D

Sounders! *clap Clap* Sounders!

Considering making this a Sounders Blog until I run out of premiership and can't update.   And why not? Nobody reads it anyway   Also, 2-1 against a team from Mexico in the CONCACAF Champions League, Quarterfinal first leg. Second leg to be in Mexico.   And no, I don't expect any more Sounders fans here. Sigh.

One Week Away

Back in early November 2011, Xccj and I discussed in detail the idea of building the island of Mata Nui in system brick. We debated many times over how we could do it, eventually deciding on how to do it and where to get the material.   That's when I told my boss Dan Parker.   On March 12th through the 16th, we finally build it. And you're all invited to help : D   Basically, if you live in the Pacific Northwest, able to travel to Tacoma, and want to help out building a system-based island, plea

Unlimited Floydic Power!

I think I'm going to obtain ultimate geekhood soon.   I'm planning to listen to all 14 Studio release Pink Floyd albums this week, during my bus rides to work and back home, without listening to (or attempting to not listen to) anything in between these periods of time.   From the beginning to end, IN ORDER, regardless of how I feel about any of it. I'm also timing the morning albums to end EXACTLY when I get to work. (This is 71 minutes, by the way). I'm working on a schedule already:   Piper

Bought More Floyd Today

I'm a glutton for Pink Floyd, I am   I went to FYE and found Delicate Sound of Thunder, plus a live DVD concert film of David Gilmour (Remember That Night: Live at the Royal Albert Hall), then went to Wal-Mart, saw The Making of Dark Side of the Moon, which I had seen on Netflix once or twice, and I loved immensly. So I picked that up, too.   Next time I get a load of cash? The Wall Immersion. I've made up my mind.   Anything new with you guys? XD

It's Here

The Wall - Experience Edition and The Wall - Immersion Edition.   I've got Experience on my computer already (<3 you, Zune Pass) and I might just consider Immersion eventually. It'd be worth it some day.

Small Debates Are... Win. (Music Debate)

So a few friends of mine online decided to debate, briefly, what would be the #1 song you would pick from The Beatles to introduce the band to someone who (for some weird reason) never heard of them.   To clarify, I don't mean their best or greatest, rather the song that best defines them and their career. That's arguably even tougher than the best song to some.   So what do you guys think?   (While we're at it, if you can think of the same for any other band you can think of, feel free.)

Question For The Community About Bionicle At Conventions

So I had a brief discussion with my boss and others in the studio, and we discussed in detail the Bionicle MOCs area in conventions such as BrickCon. So a good question came up, is the theme of Bionicle at a convention supposed to be about the theme of Bionicle, or the parts that come with it?   So I ask the community, do you consider Bionicle theme at conventions (BrickCon, BrickFair, etc.) to be about the theme of Bionicle, or the parts used? Would using Hero Factory parts be considered taboo

Progress On Project Build Mata Nui!

I already have the Mangai Volcano built. One or two little things to modify it, and it's perfectly ready to go.   I also had a "business" meeting with Dan about it. Stay tuned for updates on that front, and for you Pacific Northwestern members to gain a chance to participate (if you can)!   Likewise, I'm going to be plugging this on a certain media site (of the social kind) via the company's page. That way I'm promised to get builders and/or people involved.   And finally, most importantly, I al

Bs01's New Main Page Nav

Was really trying to avoid showing this off until we implemented it, but whatever.   http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/User:Shadow_Kurahk/Sandbox   Now you can see what madness I had in mind in the first place.

Torn Between Floyd Immersion Editions

So, undoubtably the Pink Floyd fans of BZP know of the Why Pink Floyd? campaign, which is the reissuing and remastering of all 14 studio albums, plus 2 special releases of the top three albums they created (Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall). The first of them being Experience, with the second being the subject matter of this entry: Immersion.   Now, I may have mentioned it once or twice, but I subscribe to something known as the Zune Music Pass. With this pass, I have acces

Who Knew Building Quickly In A Lego Studio Would Be Such A Chore?

So I have to work very quickly tomorrow. Starting first thing in the morning, I need to do 3 Paradisa based LEGO sets for a birthday party tomorrow (LEGO Friends is the main theme, we're padding it up with stuff).   Oh, and I just know I have only one hour to do it in.   Keeping in mind it took me about 2 hours to work on one model already in something my boss said would take him "30 minutes."   Well that's fine, I'll have instructions and I can be flexible on the actual design, but for the most

Big Changes Coming To Bs01

So, I've decided that a redesign of the main page was in order, given we just lost our last one (forgot to back it up, oh well)   I have a preview of the style the new Wiki Nav (not the Main Page Nav) up on the site here: http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/User:Swert/Zunebox   I think I'll share the main page nav once the design is done, but for now I wanna know what everybody thinks.   Other than I'm crazy, that much I knew :B

Power Outage

Like all of Washington state, I too was hit with the snow "dump" as it were.   And like most of Western Washington, I'm stuck with Puget Sound Energy with no way to change.   And like most of the PSE customers, my power's out at home.   Unlike them? I can go to work in a building UNDER A DIFFERENT POWER UTILITY, and charge my laptop (and use the internet).   So yeah, no work on BS01 until next week at the earliest.

Cryptic Metaphor

This entry is everything but what the title says it is.   So I'm snowed in. 7-8 inches of snow on my roads, and of course we're not used to it here in Washington. I'm certainly not used to it, but I love it nonetheless.   I was scheduled to work today, in fact. Called my boss at 8 AM and he said "Yeah don't even risk it." I'm scheduled so far for Friday at the earliest now.   BS01's host had some issues today, so we were down. Nothing was lost, it's all still there, and we're back. I promise it

Lego Star Wars Set #10215: Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter (Ucs)

One of the major perks I have working in a LEGO art studio, I don't feel guilt for my hobby as a LEGO builder when I go to buy a set. Even more so when I buy said set on the boss' computer, at work.   I was browsing the LEGO store while waiting on a ride, and I came across the LEGO hard-to-find items. Set #10215 caught my eye. I had seen it before in 2010 in catalogs. Of course, it's a $100 normally. Oh I couldn't justify buying it now...   What's this? It's only $59.99 right now?   ... I THREW

I Bought The #10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter Set

Should I review it once it gets here? Also, it was on sale. $60 vs $100. That's -not bad.-   In other news, I worked myself to death yesterday... building Toa Nuva. I'm serious, I had to repair the Nuva (2002) in the shop.   This is a chronological timeline of my thoughts while repairing, in order of Toa:   Pohatu: Oh come on... POHATU'S TORSO GOES ON THE OTHER WAY! OTHER WAY!!! Onua: Why is his head so funky...? Oh duh, they put it on the gear axle. Slap that back on the armor aaaand done. Kopa
