Rejoice! It's up, people.
Just noticed this is my 100th entry as well. A suitable occasion to announce a contest as well as start off a new year of blogging.
In an hour and a half, the clock will strike doom I mean, twelve. You'll have to forgive us foreigners for starting the celebration a bit early, but for once, the time zones favour us, so for once, be patient.
We're not really planning on much. We're currently halfway between dinner courses (and the accompanying wines, evidently), so I'll be too busy eating and conversing soon to drop by for a word with you guys.
In any case, it'll be a new year without fireworks: the gale outside does not
You wake up in the Ga-Metru hospital, and don't remember a thing.
And that concludes our little side-adventure. I'll be bringing the blog back bit by bit, but I'm going start off by just adding the content that has so sorely been lacking in this blog during the past weeks.
I'll guess I'll start off with the mandatory holiday greetings: Merry Christmas to one and all! I know you guys are being buried in presents, but presents are not what it's all about. Our family only exchanges presents o
The fog has finally withdrawn, and you breathe more deeply (and less humidly) because of it. Unfortunately, with the mist disappeared Sloth, leaving you alone in these corridors robbed of planking and tar. Your lonely steps resonate throughout the steel husk of the Scourge. Surprising how the ship appears to be larger on the inside than would appear from the outside. Strange indeed, you think, as you find yourself lost, both in thought and inside that very ship.
By chance you stumble upon a col
"Yeah, it's quite a mess around here, isn't it? Don't worry, someone'll fix it sooner or later. 'S long as it isn't me, heh."
You nod, only to realise Sloth will have trouble seeing you do so. Apparently a thick fog bank has entered the Scourge's berth and crept inside the ship. You follow the Vahki's silhouette as best as you can.
Sparks. The sound of cables being dragged across the steel grid floor. Clicking noises. None of which sound very comforting. As you walk along, the noises grow loud
Slowly you approach the table, assuming that the Vahki leaning back in its seat, feet on the table, ankles crossed, is the one so aptly called 'Sloth'. A clattering sound suddenly claims your attention.
"Envy, ya imbecile, the dice fell down the drain! It's yer throw, go git 'em!"
"Are your logic algorithms corrupted? There are bilge Gafna down there."
"Point. Them things clamp down and ne'er let go... Methinks I still got a deck o' poker cards in me cab'n. C'mon, we'll go fetch 'em."
As the
As soon as the shouts of the infuriated Puffin Empress have subsided and her grumbling and steps die away into the distance, your heart resumes its normal pace.
Curious, yet cautious, you decide to enter. In a while.
First, a peek round the corner, for one never knows what awaits. Corners have a bad reputation for mishaps.
Inside, you see five Vahki around a circular table, illuminated by a bare light bulb. One appears to be plugged into some sort of console, wearing smoky goggles and tapping
The sound of hammers and drills fills your ears. Sparks ignite from open circuits, heavy cables litter the steel grid floor as you make your way down the corridor. The swaying deck betrays your location. You are still on board, but how different is this? The planking is gone, baring the steel hull and mechanical nature of the ship... Welding torches are lit on the deck above, a circle saw screams.
Beneath faltering neon lights, you continue your exploration. A large hatch door stands ajar, the
I swear I'll update someday!
As soon as FA newb SPIRIT fixes the Quarters, that is. There was a little mishap with the cannons... Who knew you weren't supposed to overclock them?
We'll be moving to the Vahki Bay for a while, so that gives you guys the chance to meet up with the 7 scrapheaps I have for law enforcement.
*puts up 'under construction' sign and locks the Bay up for the night*
I just found out there's a Korean metal band called Schizo. B)
They're not bad, either. They remind me of H-Blockx (which is a German metal band, FYI).
Oh yeah.
(Schizo facts: Schizo is also the title of an album by Dutch punk band de Heideroosjes, a song by some band called Venom (which I assume, going by their lyrics, is also a metal band), and let's not forget Sepultura's 3rd album, Schizophrenia.)
Haven't added an entry since Oct 9... For shame, Schizo!
I've been listening to Soulfly all day long now... My parents left for Greece for a week at 3 AM last night, so I've got the place to myself, which is why I've been playing Soulfly albums with the volume well up.
I recently bought their last album, Dark Ages, and I started listening to their previous albums as well, including their self-titled debut album, Soulfly, which I already had a copied version of from back in '98. I was still
Just finished going through 119 reports... I had to catch up on reports from last week, and with the usual large weekend batch heaped on top of that, you can imagine how easily one gathers such large amounts of reports.
I'm going to try and get some more art up on the blog, and finally write out that extensive Scouting camp report, which has been much over due.
Still need to fix some people up with some long-promised logos and prize art, too...
Details of the Scourge aside, I thought it'd be fun to redesign the Skizakh to match the look of my crew and ship. So far, this is what I've got:
The boots came out totally wrong, but this is just a draft, so that's no biggie.
The colour scheme is mostly black, Metru red and bronze plating, but I'm looking to add some woodwork here and there. Perhaps even some gears showing, and some kind of steam exhaust, reminiscent of the steam emitted by the Vahki in their old Flash movies.
Note tha
Lads, lasses, gents an' damsels, I give ye: the Limegreen Scourge
^Click for larger version^
In flying mode, the masts split, making room for the montgolfier, which is stored in the deck itself, along with its separate rigging. The panels on the sides slide open to reveal retractable masts for additional steering when airborne.
Most of the planking is painted green, whereas the banisters and details are limegreen. The captain's quarters, being the cast-iron orb on the aft side, are
Look, a question mark instead of an exclamation mark! How rare!
Just thinking about getting a different theme for the BioLog. I'm still debating whether it's a good idea - after all, my Bionicle/BZP incarnation is a pirate captain, so the theme goes along with that.
Perhaps I should just go with some different hues (though I like the light blue versus sepia contrast), or just different pirate graphics. Or just throw more Bionicle into the mix...
>>>Final Poll<<<
First of all - thanks to the people who've voted for me so far, it's nice to know my art is still appreciated.
Still, I'm not exactly drowning in votes here, so here's some emotional blackmailing.
I mean, how could you say no to a damsel in distress?
Ahoy, me hearties, terday be the mos' excellent day of festivity o' the year: International Talk Like A Pirate Day!
Alas, fer me the day's end draws nigh, but you young cullies across the mighty Atlantic can still savour terday's sweet taste of pirate jargon on yer scurvy lips!
Now fill yer lights with fine ocean air, and join us in a shanty!
Come all ye bold heroes, give an ear to me song,
We’ll sing in the praise of good brandy & rum,
It's a clear crystal fountain near Ireland d
I've just finished the sketch for the main character of my AC 12 entry, with three secondary characters to go. I'm going to try and get those done tomorrow evening, and CG them on Thursday evening. I'll be going to a fund-raiser concert on Friday, and I don't want to hold everything off till Saturday, because last time, that got me into serious deadline problems that lead to my not participating.
*continues watching the Full Metal Alchemist movie*
Ahoy, me hearties! Fear not, for yer brave cap'n has returned from whence he disappeared to. Did some of ye hope I'd been lost forever between the flotsam and wreckage of the Scourge, never to be seen again, save on some unholy downward trek to Davy Jones's very own Locker?
Nay, me lads, 't was not I that was lost, nor my ship or crew. 't Was time itself that I did lose, and it did flee before me, not in terror, but in mockery of my crawling pursuit.
Nah. I did refrain from spending time onl
Just dropping by to let you guys know I've already got a movie scene picked for my AC 12 entry. It's not a very obvious choice, but I've already made my own rough rendition of the main Bionicle character of the composition. I'm still debating whether to make the adversaries canon or non-canon Bionicle characters, but I'm leaning towards non-canon.
I'm going to try and drop by a friend of mine tomorrow evening - he's got a copy of Photoshop CS for me, and I'm hoping the extra features come in
There were two lofty ships from Old England came,
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we.
One was the Prince of Luther and the other Prince of Wales,
Cruisin' down along the coast of High Barbary.
"Aloft there, aloft," our jolly boatswain cried...
"Look ahead, look astern, look the weather, look a lee."...
"There's naught upon the stern, there is naught upon the lee...
But there's a lofty ship to windward, she's sailing fast and free."...
"Oh hail her, oh hail her," our gallant captai
"this elevator only takes one down", she said,
"this place, this hotel lounge
it's my daily bread...
but I'm underfed"
he asked:
"are you living in the night?
cause I can tell you have a lousy imagination
and as a matter of speaking
I hate this situation...
but it happens to be one of my pickin'"
"cause it's so hard
to keep the dream alive
cause if it all comes down to this
how will..."
you move me, you move me
you move me around around, I guess
take it back your analogue
Just found out one of the songs covered by the Norwegian Socks, Swing Swing is by All American Rejects... Pretty cool. One bonus point for AAR, puts 'em above most other punk-rock-ish bands. Too many of those out there, but if you're being covered by Herman and company, you're pretty awesome. I might even pick up one of their records, some of their songs remind me of Alkaline Trio.
Pretty coincidental, them being the ones to join the Free The Band promotion. Too bad I'm not eligible for any of
Just this week, I dreamt I was watching the Ironman movie... Only it was taking place in the Egypt of the eighteen hundreds, and Zorro was in it, too.
Admittedly, most of my dreams are out of whack like this, but still... That one stuck.
Also, a heads up: I won't be updating much this week (some Blog o' the Week this is), what with starting my job and the BBQ... I'll talk about my workplace on Sunday or afterwards, it's already 10:10 PM and I try to hit the sack at 11, and was looking
