Internet Explorer 9

Wait, you mean you haven't downloaded it yet? Why?

It's leagues ahead of IE8. And having tried Firefox before, and refusing to allow anything Google on this computer (besides Google Talk and GMail <<), and I don't even have Quicktime on here, I'm not going to try Chrome and Safari. So yeah, don't waste a comment saying I should go to that.

But I will say this, give IE9 a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised, I promise you.

Now, if you HAVE gotten IE9, disregard this rant and continue enjoying it.

I find your lack of browser diversity... disturbing. :P

If I'd complain about anything, it would be Google, which is pretty frickin awesome and my experience with Bing hasn't made me want to give it up.

But if IE9 does solve a lot of the problems previous versons of IE has had, good for it. I'm still on IE8 though... and am not feeling up to changing right now. :P

I'm just gonna stick with Firefox, simply because I like it more than any browser I tried before and because of those tons of useful add-ons. And because it is neither Google nor Microsoft, so it won't do the occasional phone call home to mummy. (Of course it has the ability to do it, but it can be turned off.)

As much as I agree with your love of Microsoft, it seems to be only because somebody in your family works for it, if I'm not mistaken.

I'll stick with Firefox.

Even if my brother didn't work for them, I've got years of trust and security to back up my choice.

Plus, how many other browsers can claim they integrated with Windows 7 that well?

Having tried them all (google chrome is just... *shudder*) my favorite is generally IE9. The new Safari is decent enough, but IE9 just has a nice feel to it.

I can't say since I don't have Windows 7.

I can't even get IE9 if I wanted because I have XP.

XP Bros!

FF4 looks sexy on XP :drooling: But how exactly does IE9 integrate W7's features?

IE9 supports jump lists and pinning sites to your tool bar. You can pin a site to a tool bar and it can have specific jump lists for it, aka specific tasks.

IE9 is quality and cranked up the speed quite a bit. I still use FF4 for daily use, but I also have IE9 installed and use it from time to time.

IE9 also supports hardware acceleration for websites (that is to say, loading a website will take greater advantage of the hardware in your computer) and is completely standards compliant with HTML5.

Interesting. Dunno much about the jump list feature, but I can see myself finding that handy. Is it easy to pin a site?

Speed's always good. I'm still on IE7 and it's pretty slow. How's 9's speed compared to FF4 (Which I personally find to be noticeably faster than FF3)?

Also good to hear. Although I'm certain every popular browser will have full HTML5 support in the near future, probably before most sites really take advantage of it.

Frankly, it's about time IE got up to standards. That's my biggest disappointment with it currently.

On the note about speed; I routinely use 3 browsers and have never noticed a difference in speed. When one of them is slow, I try the others and they're slow too. :P

Fairly easy. Just drag a tab down to the taskbar, you're done. It is now pinned, and the buttons will skin themselves to match that site's favicon. Shame it seems some sites can't display favicons, or if they're not showing up properly for me :\

Far as I can tell, there's not much difference. Again, hardware acceleration plus HTML5 support, it's pretty stable and fast.

After IE gained HTML5 support, every browser is HTML5 compliant, with varying degrees of compliance and supports. For example, Firefox, Opera and Chrome supports the WebM HTML5 format, whereas IE and Safari do not, but they support h.264 whereas Firefox, Opera and Chrome do not. There is a plugin to add h.264 to Chrome and FF (I believe) and there is a plugin to add WebM to IE.

Replies above.

Last I heard, Internet Explorer 9 was still in the beta stage. If and when it comes out, I should be getting a notice telling me to upgrade anyway, so I'll get it then.

Unless IE9 has already come out in full mode, in which case I'll download it one of these days (I have Windows 7, so it should work well).

It did release, last monday. No, it doesn't notify you to upgrade it appears, but it does allow you to install without uninstalling the Release Candidate.

We installed IE9.

It launched viruses into our computer.

We have encountered the blue screen of death several times since.

AND IT WON'T LET US UNINSTALL IT

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
