My Little Pony

It's not... that... horrible...

*Runs away covering face.*

*Is pushed back to blog by certain someones who will remain unnamed.*

*Ahem.* Soooo... :lookaround:

Okay, the art and characters are adorable.

Fine, since the characters can actually sing, the songs are bearable.

Sure, it's downright funny at times.

Alright, although it has lessons at the end, they're not sugar-wafer-sprinkle-covered-lessons dripping with chocolate syrup and shoved down your throat by a giggling protagonist.

However, the fact that I found myself watching ten episodes in a day doesn't explain why guys like it (and were the ones insisting I watch it). I mean, I'm a girl. I'm just never going to have as much manliness as the opposite gender. No matter how I deny and ignore its whispers, the Barbie aisle is always going to have some sort of weird pull on me. So the fact that a bouncing, squeaky little pink pony obsessed over lollipops somehow fascinates me isn't entirely surprising.

But men? Men! What happened to you!? My faith in the stronger gender is shattered! ;.;

I've never seen it, but goodness gracious have I seen pics and discussions about it all over this forum.

Which has lead me to believe that there is a larger fan base of males on this site who watch it more than females.

For now I shall not even look it up, because I'm afraid to.

While I doubt that as a whole the male fanbase is larger than female, trust me, it's not just this site. Bronies are everywhere.

And y'know, Turakii, I think it's not a girly show to begin with. It's like any other cartoon that's worth watching that just happens to be using a girl-oriented theme for content. That's the way I see it.

So am I. This could be even worse then the time she was forced to watch barney...

Turakii, from what I've seen of the show it hasn't hooked me, but for the bronies whom it has, I merely believe that they are confident enough in their manliness that they do not feel it is affected by this show.

After watching the first two episodes, I unashamedly am a brony.

Well, maybe a little ashamedly. But still. This show's awesome.

Just wait until you see more! The pilot is really weak compared to later episodes, in my opinion.

Very much this. As a matter of fact, I think yesterday's episode was by far my favorite.

I've heard so much positive feedback about this show that I'm rather inclined to watch in when I find the time.

EDIT: Watched the intro to the pilot episode. My heart has been captured.

Sorry, but at the mention of the songs, my resolve to never watch this show was increased a thousandfold.

Just for the record, it's not a cartoon musical. One of the characters likes to break into song every once in a while, but that's because her personality is like that of a person who drinks coffee like water. Hyper is an understatement. From the few episodes I've watched, her spontaneous musical breaks are handled tastefully.

Yeah, I watched the Pilot episodes today they were pretty weak (as already stated), but the two following episodes actually weren't that bad. I'm not surprised, really. There are many kids' shows out there that have appeal for an older audience. I don't think this show has the potential of captivating everyone 18+, but it is watchable.

Also Applejack is

As for the songs, I'm not a big fan of the lyrics, but the tunes themselves I find quite catchy and not half-bad. Yeah, if there was one in every single episode it'd get old fast, but as v1p1 said, it's done quite well (or at least as well as could be done for a little girls' show).

And I concur. Applejack is awesome. She's my second fave, right after Fluttershy.

I love Fluttershy almost as much because she reminds me way too much of one of my friends, but Applejack wins me over with that hat (and because I love apples).

As someone who thinks that Eva was perfectly understandable and only slightly emotionally unbalanced, I do not feel interested in this MLP reboot.

I prefer serious works. :P

I watched the first three episodes, and although it's done well, it doesn't really seem like my kind of thing.

To give it a proper chance though (without having to watch all of them) what do you guys consider to be the best episode?

My personal favorites are "Owl's Well That Ends Well", "A Bird in the Hoof", and "Sonic Rainboom". Probably in that order too...

I only ever saw the first episode, out of curiosity what all the fuzz is about. I gotta say, the quality for a kids show is amazing and I for one am glad there's something good out there.

But, back in topic, suffice to say I did not watch the show since, though I don't mind it and have been more focused on fighting intergalactic wars and benchpressing. Hope that restores some faith in mendom XD
