Katy Perry

People are making a big deal over Katy Perry getting close to breaking Michael Jackson's record of five number-one singles on a single album, but it isn't going to happen. Even with the .69 cent discount and the BoB remix, she isn't close to LMFAO or Rihanna in digital sales, and that isn't even counting the rise of Adele's new single. My guess is LMFAO stays on top for another week before being supplanted by Adele - all the while, Perry gets stuck at No. 2 or No. 3, behind Adele and Rihanna's singles. It's not going to happen, people - MJ's record is safe - for the time being. Adele might get three more for all I know, she just doesn't stop selling albums/singles/whatever she releases.

Ke$ha's Tik Tok has already outsold any Beatles singles. These are clearly the end times.

That's sad. Autotune should never outsell pure genius.

Thing is, the Beatles existed in a time where consumers bought full albums instead of just singles, cause many artists believed that albums were made as one and should stay as one. (better example, Pink Floyd). Today, a lot of artists just release singles, and then a compilation album every so often.

So comparing sales of singles between today and 40 years ago really doesn't show much. :)

Agreed. Singles take predominance since they are cheaper (1.29 at most instead of upwards of $3 dollars for a physical one) now than ever before.
