I know a kid who looks like he's 21 but is actually just 13. Also, in the same day, two different people offered me beer in Pittsburgh before I was even shaving - so if anything, I've got the opposite thing going.

The internet is weird that way. I guess it's a good thing, breaking down otherwise awkward age barriers by eliminating almost all age references. Helps you judge people based on what they say and all that.

 

I was visiting my old church one where I'd been as a baby, so they people knew me by not my younger sister. Yet one lady confidently guessed that I was younger by a significant amount.

I usually make the opposite mistake. I'm always really surprised that many of the people I look up to on the internet are younger than me. For instance, learning that Electric Turahk was younger than me was a real shocker, since he always had such an air of authority on BS01 and in the BIONICLE Storyline & Theories subforum.

I find that it is easier to get wrong someone's gender than their age online.

 

I haven't had problems or surprises much, aside from how old some of the BZ Staff were when I first joined, but that dissipated quickly.

I remember back during my first birthday while on staff, many people were surprised to find out I was only 16 (or was it 17?). I believe I was the youngest staff member at that time. Either that, or Zeddy had me by a few months.

 

IRL, the most I've been mistaken for is a year older. Most of the people here at college presume that I'm a sophomore.
