The Surface Pro 3 is kind of my secret dream device but it's so expensive. Which configuration did you get? As for using the pen, try taking notes with OneNote, I tried it and it works really well.

Got the 256 GB i7 model - I'd been planning on getting one since the beginning of the year, so decided to go the bit extra and get one of the higher end models.

 

And yeah I have a friend who uses OneNote for their lecture notes at uni, though I haven't attempted yet, may try so after the break to get used to using it. I have terrible hand writing as it is though so will see how it goes.
