Pokemon Battles IN SPACE

Pahrak Model ZX

So it's been announced that ORAS will have a new story thing called "The Delta Episode". A meteor is on course to collide with the planet, so the protagonist has to stop it.

It seems their method of doing so involves putting on a space suit, riding Rayquaza as it Mega Evolves and shoots into the upper atmosphere, and battling Deoxys.

You get to ride Mega Rayquaza into space to fight Deoxys.

I...I just have no words...

No, no, no...

Dragon Sky is a mutated Mega Rayquaza. I actually was looking at the cover of my SF1 game the other day, and noticed the similarities to Mega Ray and Dragon Sky, and I was pretty amused by it... Now this happens. =P

Sorry to bust into this conversation but are the Star Force games any good? I used to love Mega Man Battle Network back in the day, but never got into Star Force for whatever reason. If the games are as good as Battle Network was, it'd be a good series for me to start picking up used, seeing as I've worked through all of Professor Layton and almost all of Ace Attorney.

I only played the first Star Force but I loved it, it's similar enough to MMBN to feel like the same game but it's different enough that it's definitely not. It's kinda similar to BN4 in terms of story, I think?

Good enough for me! I'll look into picking up the first one and seeing how it feels.

Star Force is a lot like Battle Network, so a lot of fans of one will be fans of the other, I think.  However, due to a few gameplay aspects (lock-on capabilities and the removal of chip codes, for instance), Star Force is a bit easier and that can be off-putting for people.  If you like swords, though, they become much easier to use! :P

I will say that Star Force has better character development.  Granted, it's been a little while since I played Battle Network, but when I replayed Star Force recently I noticed that, despite the far future setting, the characters all have very relatable problems dealing with isolation.  The evil aliens invading Earth are drawn to human hosts who emit a "loneliness wave", so when a character is going to be the boss of the upcoming chapter, you get a look at their personal life and what they struggle with, and rather than simply fighting them (although he does do plenty of that), Mega Man also tries to talk with his opponents and help them through their issues.  In this way, even the characters who only appear in one chapter get a little character development, which helps the whole cast feel a lot more lovable.

...For the first game, at least.  The second is a bumpy ride, and while I do love the third, it can't compare to the first in terms of character (in my opinion).  Though I do remember Mega Man and at least one of his friends having pretty stable development through the whole trilogy.

I should mention that, with the DS Wi-Fi being taken down, you won't be able to use the BrotherBand feature with other players anymore.  But, as someone who was first introduced to the franchise through Battle Network, I can say with certainty that Star Force is my favorite, so I definitely recommend you give it a try!

EDIT: Also, if you put a Battle Network game into the GBA slot while you play, you can do a side-quest to have a brief encounter between the two Megamen that gives you the Buster with the highest Rapid stat in the game.  I think it also changes music in some areas, but I'll have to double check to be sure.
