My Cellphone....

Toa Smoke Monster

Here, ladies and gentlemen, is a picture of my cellphone that I have been using for the last six years. (This is just a picture of this type of phone I found online. My actual phone is a little more beat up, but it still works fine.) It makes phone calls and text messages, but not much else.

If you are wondering why I still have this cellphone instead of one of the newer ones, it's because I'm just not that big of a cellphone person. I've only sent four or five text messages on this thing in the six years I've had it. Plus, I only really use it at work. It just sits, turned off, in my room when I am at home. I don't really see the need to upgrade to the latest one if it's just going to sit in my room as well.

As for why I'm confessing to this here, it's because I want to see people's reactions to this. :P Some of my coworkers think I'm insane for having a phone this old, but I don't care. ('It's the best cellphone ever!' I tell them. :) ) Also, I'm curious to see if anyone else still has a phone like this and uses it on a regular basis.

That is all.

I wasn't a big cellphone user either, before I got a smartphone. Once that happened I realized I could get plenty of use out of a cellphone that could do more than just make calls and texts. I probably wouldn't have survived college without handy things like map apps or internet access away from my computer. My twin brother was later to adopt a smartphone than I was, until it was pointed out to him that the only reason he was doing fine without one was relying on me having my own.

So yeah. Sometimes you don't know how much something could help you until it actually has.

I like my smartphone because it allows me to use the PDF Maps application. I use it more for that than actually calling people. And I don't use text messages outside of emergencies.

But, nah, there's no reason for anyone to react extremely to your phone. Some people just don't have use for smartphones and there's nothing wrong with that. :shrugs:

My cellphone...is about the same.

And I never use it.

I do not understand the smartphone addiction. I much prefer my computer. It has keyboard, which makes everything better.

Agreed. Until I have a legitimate reason to get a new one, my cellphone will remain the same. And I'm okay with that. :)

I don't understand it either. It seems like the majority of people these days just can't stay off their cellphones. I'd would rather look stuff up on my home computer, though that is just my personal preference.

I'm with lyichir. I resisted moving from flip phone to smart phone for years. After I finally made the switch, I realized just how useful having a smartphone is and it has definitely helped in many situations. The map app especially. Plus you can fact check anyone anywhere anytime. Boo yahhh

I have too much fun being able to access the internet for nearly anywhere, but even then I was a late adopter of a smart phone. And the Maps and GPS stuff is also great! But honestly, I do prefer the simplicity of flip phones for actually calling people, so I totally get where you're coming from. Besides, those phones tend to be cheaper to buy and have cheaper plans while the rest of us are burning cash on data. So stick with it as long as you need. :sly:
