I don't like it. It barely looks like him, and not because he doesn't have a face yet. You'd really have to know the set to see it, unlike our past mosaics which clearly looked like a character and work of art--the public would barely need to grasp the idea of Bionicle to realize what we made. This, however, is just some guy standing weird holding a stick and something golden.

 

I'd rather not do this than support it.

 

There aren't any other options? Any clearer pictures to use? Alternate poses? Closer-up images that still give the bad-guy feel?

I have to agree with CF. Even to a person who knows the character, it doesn't end up looking all that impressive, and to a person who doesn't know the character it'd be even harder to relate to it on any level. In general I'm not sure the comics from this year's instruction booklets are really distinctive enough to make good mosaics.

 

What about just a mosaic of the Mask of Control? Or maybe a mosaic split down the middle, with the Mask of Creation on one side and Mask of Control on the other?

I keep forgetting to come back here and check on new mosaic ideas. My brick's all packed up now, so I won't be able to build any mosaic panels in the near future anyway.

 

I'd like the face to be clearer. I kind of like the idea of trying to do the translucent part with translucent bricks, but even I don't have that many trans-green 1x1s, and I HOARD THEM IN EVERY COLOR.

Yeah, a general lack of interest means this ain't happening this year.

 

Aw, OK. I realized after I commented that I was talking nonsense, anyway - trans-bright green brick for that torso is near-impossible to get (and much rarer than the regular trans-green I had been wrongly thinking of).

 

At least we got Pohatu built in time for this year's circuit...it'll still feel like there's a new mosaic travelling around for 2016 (it'll only be a repeat in Dallas).
