Thoughts on Latest Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer

Toa Smoke Monster

Here it is, folks. The second trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One which will be out in December.

One of the things I noticed about it is that it has a darker tone to it than from what we saw with The Force Awakens trailers. I really hope that they keep this tone for the whole movie. I don't mind a few jokes here and there, like the couple they have here in the trailer. But overall I kind of want a darker story to be told in this movie. But that is just me. :)

I also think the visuals look great. I particularly liked the scene that shows our hero's ship flying into what appears to be a giant sandstorm. It kind of gives me a Mad Max: Fury Road vibe. The scene where they are flying through what appears to be a thunderstorm looks great as well.

Overall, I enjoyed watching this trailer and it has succeeded in getting me excited to see Rogue One. Now December just has to get here. :P

Whether or not the trailer is 'safe' depends on how much you know about the movie, what you don't want to know, and what you want to know. I didn't see anything super spoilery in there, but someone else may see something they didn't want to.

For what it's worth, I, too, only ever watch the first trailer for movies I want to see.

Anyway, as someone who isn't really a fan of Star Wars and thinks these spinoff films are a terrible idea... this actually looks kind of okay. But, then, so do a lot of movie trailers.

My interest regarding a darker Star Wars film remains piqued, and I'll probably be helping this movie to a billion and some dollars in December.

I was skeptical, then moderately hyped, then pessimistic. Now I'm hyped again.

Why do you think so?

I have nothing against spin-offs in general personally, I just think Star Wars is losing the magic with more frequent releases.

And really, movies like this sandwiched between existing prequels and sequels can only end certain ways, so there's no real point in seeing it
