Um, Pixar... are you sure about this teaser? I get that everyone thought Cars 2 was too dumb and childish, and that you want to prove it can be serious. But are you sure the best way to do that is to disturb and potentially traumatize the kids who liked it?

For the record, I do like the first Cars and I think Cars 2 was okay. I'm sure the movie itself will be lighter, and the teaser doesn't really have bearings on if Cars 3 will be good, but this is a surprisingly dark trailer for a film series most known for selling brightly-colored die-cast cars to small children.

I really liked the First Cars. I wasn't the biggest fan of the second one though, and I wasn't really looking forward to seeing a third one.

But I wasn't expecting said third one to take such a turn for the serious. I'm now kind of interested to see it.

Cars was ok, Cars 2 was terrible

If this teaser means anything for Cars 3 (which it doesn't) then it might be good

Not sure what about this is traumatizing though, it's just a car rolling

Well, that car is the main character of the movies. I just think that little kids who like the Cars movies might get freaked out seeing Lightning get injured in such a serious way. Especially since the other movies are more light-hearted.

we get this before Incredibles 2

just let that one sink in

we are truly in the darkest of all possible timelines

didn't cars 1 also come out after the incredibles

meaning we've gotten the entire cars franchise in the timespan it's taken to get to incredibles 2

The original "Cars" was fun and sentimental. The second "Cars" was still fun, but in a different way — it was mostly the creators just playing around with the characters and world through a "world tour" storyline. I enjoyed it, even though it didn't have nearly the same pathos as other Pixar flicks and is certainly not one I'd consider a favorite.

If this trailer is anything to go by, they're taking Cars 3 in a more serious direction, but still no telling what the overall story will be about.
