Dekar Grew Taller!

Up until 1:07 AM last night, Hydraxon was just another unconscious Bionicle in a box, unable to feel his legs. (That might have been because the pieces required for his hands were packaged in a separate bag.) He sighed, grateful for the breathing holes in the bags, and wished desperately for a courageous, beautiful, and smart female hero to trace his kidnappers, discover his prison, and rescue him.

Even as he uttered this thought (or would have, if he'd had a mouth), a slender hand pried itself under part of the cardboard, slashed downward, pulled the edge of the box upward, and---

Maxilos saw the light.

However, Maxilos was in an ocean somewhere several thousand miles away, and he has little to do with this narration, so whether or not he saw the light really makes no difference at all.

Hydraxon blinked and looked up at his heroine, who, to his disappointment, only fit the female area of the requirements. She, in turn, stared at him in puzzlement for awhile. Then, with an awed murmur of "Shiny," she pulled the instruction booklet from under his bags of pieces and flipped it open...

...

Two hours later, at 3:10 AM, the girl sat back, wiped the sweat from her brow, and admired her latest one-legged biomechanical buddy, as well as the large pile of "spare pieces" beside him.

---

And, well, he did eventually end up as a humanoid figure. :P Traku only had to help once, and even offered gentle, encouraging advice, such as "Woah! Major flaw! What on earth were you thinking!? Pay attention to where things go!"

Most of the confusion came in when, just as I was finishing his torso, I discovered the wing-weapon-things were supposed to go on his back, and not in front of his face. Personally, I thought they would have been great for deflecting cordak and thus wisely protecting his eyes, but it was impossible to attach his foot-chest-armor with that piece there, and the back of his torso looked nothing like the picture, so I decided his wingy-weapons weren't really necessary. (Traku later informed me, after fixing my wonderful silver guardian, that I had built most of his torso backwards and upside down.)

And then there were Hydraxon's constant comments. Somehow, he had the strange idea that just because the instruction booklet showed him with two legs, he deserved the same. After I'd nearly sweated my life out over the first leg, I was ready to let him spend the rest of his life as a pogo stick, but nooo, he needed that other leg. And of course, his fingers must all be attached right-side-up.

I want to thank ~Po~ for supporting me, because if he hadn't been there, those two hours may have shredded the last of my sanity.

...

Ooh, guess what Bionicle I got for Christmas! :o

A one-eyed salt-shaker robot with eggbeater/plunger attatchments!

Hang on, that's a Dalek...

If you still had a shred of sanity, you could have built him in less than 2 hours.

Wait. That can't be right. Aren't you insane?... :P
