Weekly Update - 6/18

Black Six

Intro

It is Friday yet again, and, horrible ref calls aside, it's a pretty decent Friday. A perfect Friday, you might say, for an update.

Updates

Unfortunately, there's not a huge amount to update about, but I'll see what I can do.

We had a review last week of a rather small and seemingly-inconsequential set. But we here at BZPower think every set is important, and hope to bring you a wide range of reviews, from large to small. So, like we said when we started reviewing non-Bionicle sets: get used to it.

Speaking of non-Bionicle related stuff, the release date for LEGO Universe was announced. Mark your calendars for October 26th, because that's when the online fun starts!

For even more Bionicle related news, Hero Factory sets have started to appear in the US. If you're looking to pick these guys up, start checking your local stores.

Since I have nothing else for you guys, I give you this abridged chat log:

8:59:47 PM Black Six: Also, guess what time it is!

8:59:52 PM Smeagol4: movie time?

9:00:06 PM Black Six: What movie?

9:00:15 PM Smeagol4: casablanca

9:00:36 PM Black Six: OMG you're psychic!

9:00:45 PM Smeagol4: :D

9:02:54 PM Black Six: Come watch Casablanca with me?

9:03:03 PM Smeagol4: I'd like that

9:03:14 PM Smeagol4: get me a teleporter?

9:03:22 PM Black Six: I'll see what I can do.

9:03:33 PM Smeagol4: I'll settle for that

9:04:16 PM Black Six: But the others wait in Casablanca, and wait... and wait...... and wait.......

9:04:35 PM Smeagol4: aaaagh I want to put that movie in now but I need to go to bed early tonight

9:04:50 PM Black Six: :(

9:05:06 PM Black Six: It's only 102 minutes.

9:05:24 PM Smeagol4: true

9:05:34 PM Smeagol4: but I also told josh I'd try to finish this bzprpg post tonight

9:05:36 PM Smeagol4: bleeeagh

9:05:50 PM Black Six: :(

9:19:17 PM Black Six: "I came to Casablanca for the waters."

"Waters? What waters? We're in the desert."

"I was misinformed."

9:19:26 PM Smeagol4:

9:39:58 PM Black Six: Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

10:09:09 PM Black Six: Man, I notice new things every time I watch this movie.

10:09:24 PM Smeagol4: masterpieces of cinema are like that

10:11:23 PM Black Six: "Are you sure this place is honest?"

"Honest? As honest as the day is long!"

10:11:27 PM Black Six: Oh Karl.

10:11:33 PM Smeagol4: guh stoppitttttt

10:11:37 PM Smeagol4: I want to watch it xD

10:14:09 PM Black Six: National anthems FTW.

10:42:33 PM Black Six: I love how easily the phone cord breaks.

10:42:49 PM Black Six: "Major Straussa has been shot."

"Round up the usual suspects."

10:43:11 PM Smeagol4: such a classic line

10:43:34 PM Black Six: Every line in this movie is a classic.

10:43:38 PM Smeagol4: true

10:44:09 PM Black Six: "Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

10:45:01 PM Smeagol4:

10:48:25 PM Black Six: How is it possible for a movie to be that awesome?

10:49:42 PM Smeagol4: each reel of the tape they filmed it on was pressed from condensed matter of everything good in the world

Mailbag

1. First off, a useful question. With the new signature guidelines, what's the easiest way for members to determine if somebody else's signature exceeds the 800x300 dimensions?

2. Now on to the useless junk.

3. Do you play any war-themed hat simulators?

4. Seen the Sands of Time movie?

5. Are you excited about Toy Story 3?

6. How about the Sorcerer's Apprentice?

7. Any tips for creating a "podcast" you'd like to share?

8. Did you know that chocolate-flavored candy corn tastes worse in chili that regular candy corn does?

9. A man gets promoted to a higher position in his job but isn't given a raise or benefits/privileges of any sort. Your reaction?

10. Invisibility or flight?

11. Now that the signature guidelines have seen a complete overhaul, are other such things undergoing similar "do-overs"? Or is that the kind of situation where you'd have to kill me if I knew the answer?

12. Do YOU know what the "scroll lock" and "insert" keys do?

13. If you could have your next birthday cake built/decorated look like anything you wanted, what would it look like?

14. That's all for now. Have a good week. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. S'matter of fact, don't even do some of the things I WOULD do.

1. There is no real 'easy' way. If you think someone is violating the rules, however, report it. The Global Moderators have an easy way of testing such things. And before you ask, no, it's nothing we can make readily available to members.

2. People need to be taught what a question is.

3. I have once or twice, but not regularly.

4. No.

5. I enjoyed the others, but I feel like I'll wait until the DVD release on this one.

6. I can't say I've heard about that one.

7. Get some decent software and microphones. Then practice. We test recorded a couple episodes before we actually released one for real.

8. No. And I don't want to know how you found that out.

9. Sounds like corporate America.

10. Invisibility.

11. The thought may have crossed our minds.

12. Yes.

13. A Halo ring.

14. I intend to do all the things that I would normally do, thankyouverymuch.

Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update.

Conclusion

And that wraps things up for this week. Your mailbag questions and other comments are always welcome. Have a good weekend everyone - enjoy the World Cup!

Nice update. I uh, actually haven't seen Casablanca all the way through (don't kill me please!) Don't worry though, it's on my to do list.

That isn't really true.

All you have to do is left click on an image, scroll down to "Image Info", click that, and look at the dimension size. Not sure how to do it in other browsers, but that is how you do it in Firefox.

And what if they have images and text?

You use that other button: "Print Screen/SysRq". :P

Right, and then you would have to paste it into an image-processing program, and figure out if it exceeded 800x300. That's not what I would call 'easy.'

I like to imagine it's this little 800x300 template that floats around on their screen that they can drag wherever they want. :D

Yeah good point...

I know what the insert key does but the scroll lock key always eludes me.
Obviously, it locks the scroll. We can't let this archaic form of reading get out.

I actually saw that movie for a cultural studies class. 'Twas okay.
