The Red Pyramid
I literally just picked this up this afternoon (my brother got it the other day and loaned it me, since I expressed interest), and I'm only a few dozen pages until I finish it. Rick Riordan is one awesome writer.
That being said, it hasn't motivated me to take The Lightning Thief off my bookshelf yet, but I have a feeling it won't be long until I do. That being said, I doubt it'll be as interesting as The Red Pyramid, because of the differences -- I think becoming the host of an Egyptian god is much more interesting than being the half-mortal child of a Greek god.
(BTW, for you Percy Jackson fans, there is a reference to the series in there -- one of the characters in the book looks towards the Empire State building and mentioned "other gods". I don't know much about the series, but seriously -- I didn't even need to check Wikipedia.)
Either way, it's given me a very healthy respect for Bast (and for my cat -- her real name is Bastet, which is just a variation of Bast) and the author. I can't wait until the sequel comes out. =D
