I start College Math (MTH1010) Thursday. The course runs five and a half weeks until my winter break (yay!). While I am familiar with what I'll be learning, I can't help but shudder at the thought of math. Math, math, math, mathmathmathmathmathyuck. I suppose I'm just anxious and paranoid, like the majority of people that say: "I'm not good at math." I'll take the course and do my best, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be pleasant.

Concepts of algebra including linear and quadratic equations, polynomials, exponents, logarithms and functions. Emphasis on graphical representations of functions. This course is designed to build an adequate background for the college-level mathematics, science and business courses.

Analyze and apply models of quantitative relationships.

Employ effective problem solving strategies.

Set-up and solve linear equations in an applied context.

Graph and analyze linear functions

Set-up and solve systems of linear equations, interpreting results with respect to algebraic and geometric perspectives

Set-up and solve quadratic equations in an applied context.

Graph and analyze quadratic functions

Assess, graph and compare the behaviors of rational, cubic, exponential and logarithmic functions.
