  1. IC: Rezena, Burning Steppes Not for the first time, Rezena pictured herself screaming across the wastes on a motorbike. Dust and ash billowed in her wake. She roared up to the dig site and dismounted coolly amid the murmurs of respect and admiration of her peers. Instead, she crossed the Burning Steppes as did all the rest: one foot in front of the other. ... Her arrival was likewise unimpressive. Though Rezena could hardly blend into any crowd, she was, here, but another slab of hired muscle. She recognized a few of those present, but none of them she knew very-- Oh. Well, if it wasn't two of her favorite people. In a stride, she was beside them. "Katha;Vaa? But that was so long ago," she said lightly. "And I seem to recall that it was mostly an accident." OOC: @a goose@Ghosthands
  2. IC: Lekua, Ga-Koro Nichou? Holy s###. “Nichou? Holy s###,” said Lekua. He saluted back and flashed his old friend a grin. “How long has it even been?” He genuinely didn’t know. “I’ve been, uh—” He glanced around at the crowd, then stepped closer and lowered his voice slightly. “Been up and down, really. But hopefully up for now.” In his mind he still saw the rahkshi descending on Kentoku, still heard the screams of the Dasaka falling before them, and he tried his best to make that last bit sound convincing. “We’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Not sure now is the best time, though.” OOC: @BULiK etc
  3. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro I think it was all wrong to start with... Ferellis’s words dig into the back of Vaíl’s mind, and they remain there as her companion rises. “...karz of a headache, come morning.” Vaíl blinks, and then she rises too, reaching into her pack as she does. “Here.” She offers Ferellis a vial of viscous liquid. “Something I came up with. Take it before you turn in; should help a bit with the headache thing.” Her gaze flicks to the abandoned glass, leftover sparkles still glittering in the dim light. “It, uh, tastes like s###, though. Fair warning.” OOC: @Mel
  4. IC: Lekua, Great Takea “Right, right, Nale was telling you about Makuta. Which, you know, you got the basics down, but there’s a bit more that’s relevant to the story. Supposedly.” He was warming back up now. “So as best I can tell, the biggest difference between Makuta and Zataka is that Makuta’s cultists get off on slaughtering, terrorizing, and enslaving innocents, but it seems like Zataka’s cultists mostly just want her to step on them. That sound about right?” OOC: @~Xemnas~ @Tarn @TL01 NUVA
  5. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro Vaíl’s thoughts are something of a fog themselves, and she stumbles through them, wandering eagerly toward the subject of foreign lands, for the idea has always fascinated her. She opens her mouth to urge Ferellis to continue. Wait. She recognizes then her companion’s averted gaze, her defensive posture, her distracted fiddling with the glittering remnants of her sugary abomination. Vaíl reels herself in just in time. When she does speak, it is with concern, though perhaps not with much tact. “Hey, uh. Is everything all right?” OOC: @Mel
  6. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Lekua winked. “Don’t worry about it.” OOC: @Tarn@~Xemnas~@TL01 NUVA @Umbraline Yumiwa@Snelly
  7. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro Vaíl’s blank look has little to do with her steadily advancing intoxication. It is more than a few moments before she realizes to whom Ferellis is referring. “Oh – him.” In this moment, Vaíl is far more concerned that the nickname will catch on than she is about any threat posed by its owner. Or perhaps it already has, while she was out on her own? Disturbing. “So, y'think the rumors are true, then?” OOC: @Mel
  8. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Lekua didn’t really “get” what the whole deal was with nobility. “is that how you think a joke works—ten layers of formalities—two heads short of a double-eagle—snake up my arse—insult my mother—believed in the office I inhabit—” What the… Lekua rested an awkward elbow on the table and scratched his mask with clear discomfort, suddenly fascinated by a fishing lure displayed on the far wall of the bar. Wait, she was looking at him. “Oh, hi, Yumiwa. Didn’t see you there.” IC: Iraanus, Great Takea He watched closely for Rhow’s response, almost so closely that he didn’t notice— “Wait, wasn’t that the, uh — what do the psychic Toa call their leader again? The fancy one who was talking to Hahli? Was that her that just walked in?” OOC: @Vezok's Friend@Mel@Tarn@TL01 NUVA@~Xemnas~@Caedast
  9. IC: Lekua, Great Takea “Right, I figured. Hm.” He noted Nale’s enthusiasm. “Nale, you mind giving these guys the quick rundown on Makuta?” OOC: @Tarn@~Xemnas~@TL01 NUVA@Mel
  10. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro Too personal. Right. Vaíl mirrors Ferellis with a long sip of her own drink, now aiming to hide her embarrassment. This beverage is a remarkably versatile tool. “Ahh. Nothing too glamorous, I’m afraid. These days it’s mostly hunting. Uh, rahi hunting, that is.” Bounty hunting would probably fall in the “glamorous” category, she thinks, but she clarifies nonetheless. “And, how ‘bout you?” OOC: @Mel
  11. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Lekua took note of Nara’s concerned expression with a twinge of guilt, but he was hungry enough to put it aside. He’d have to be sure to pay her back somehow. As introductions were made and more food ordered, Lekua contemplated how to begin his tale. This chapter began with the arrival of the mysterious Matoran (Takua? still unclear on that one) in Le-Koro – but for it to make any sense, especially to the Kentokuans (?) present, he’d have to go back quite a lot farther. “So, like I said, what I was doing on Kentoku is a pretty long story. Guess where it all starts is with a fellow called Makuta.” He paused, trying to gauge their reactions. “That name mean anything to you? Nale, Nara, you don’t count, sorry.” IC: Iraanus, Great Takea Something important I’m not doing? Yeah, working. Heh. “Weird dreams, huh,” he said thoughtfully. “Weird how?” OOC: @~Xemnas~@TL01 NUVA@Tarn@Mel@Vezok's Friend
  12. IC: Aija, Oki. Weeks in the past. By the time Aija’s feet touch the sand, she can scarcely feel them. The wind howls across the beach and the crashing waves yearn with all their might to rip her back into the sea, and with each step through the surging tide she is sure she will be unable to take another. Yet each time she does. It seems to Aija that these final yards of wading through the surf take her as long as the entire swim before. But then one foot is out of the water, and then the other, and she is staggering forward on solid ground. Every muscle screams in agony; her wounded leg buckles; her lungs are aflame; hunger gnaws at her stomach; her heart, she is certain, is about to burst. But she is alive, and she intends to stay that way. She is one of the lucky ones. The mental plane rings with a silent cry, and Aija restrains herself from collapsing as she seeks its source. She rubs the water from her mask and peers through the rain, and she sees her – a Dasaka, slumped against a jagged rock that looms over the windswept sand. Aija forces her legs to move. The woman is alive, but only just. Rainwater drips into the hole in her chest, the work of a blade that Aija imagines must have cut through her armor like butter. Just like… Aija cannot tell whether the woman is consciously aware of her presence. She kneels beside her and touches her cheek, reaching out for her in the mental plane. Their minds touch, and Aija gasps in terror. She sees only fragments – buildings, homes, and ships destroyed, Dashi and Dasaka and Datsue fighting and fleeing and falling. And at the center of it – the Things – yes, Things, for there are many, many more than the one which… Aija gasps in terror – but she does not recoil. She sees and she feels, and she sends, as much as she is able, comforting thoughts to the woman, peaceful memories of open seas and open plains, for the woman is a Taajar like herself. Aija cannot save her, but she can ensure that she does not die alone. The woman’s eyes flicker open and, for a moment, look into her own. They do not open again. Aija should bury her, but she can scarcely lift her own arms. She stands in the rain, her mind blank. The woman had been carrying a bag. Aija fights back a wave a nausea and opens it. A heatstone and some rations. A lightstone, too, but shattered. The woman won’t be needing it anymore. Aija’s stomach churns. She needs a safe place to rest. Think. But her mind is just as exhausted as her body. Aija stares up again at the rock. Her vision blurs, and for a moment it looks almost like a dragon. A dragon. And suddenly a new burst of adrenaline washes over her, for she knows she has been here before, and she knows where she can go to rest. Aija grits her teeth and turns back toward the water. /// A few hundred yards away from the dragon-shaped rock, there is a small cave accessible only via a narrow underwater channel. This is where Aija emerges, hauling herself onto the rocky ground with the last remnant of her strength. Her numb fingers fumble with the heatstone, and she shivers as she pulls off her soaking robes in its dull glow. She is asleep before her head touches the ground.
  13. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Lekua seated himself without hesitation. “Oh, in that case, I’d be happy to stay! Nice to meet you, Eita. Nale.” He shook each of their hands. “Anything you’d recommend? Oh!” He threw up his hands. “I’m Lekua. Ah, and you are?” he asked the other two. IC: Iraanus, Great Takea Half the Skakdi population… Hm. He blinked, then grunted. “Work? Say it ain’t so.” He took a closer look at his friend. There was precious little that could unsettle Rhow, but he had the distinct impression that something had just done so. “Er, you all right there, Rhow?” OOC: @Vezok's Friend@Tarn@~Xemnas~@Mel@TL01 NUVA
  14. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro “I think I’m with the men on this one, Ferellis.” Vaíl takes note again of her new maybe-friend’s teeth and wonders whether that dentist comment was made in jest. Better, she is sure, not to ask. She watches the bartender place a twin of the monstrous concoction in front of the newcomer across the bar. “Oh, great spirit, it’s contagious.” She asks for the bitterest drink on the menu, hoping to inoculate herself. A thought occurs to her. “So, is that what’s got you down? Men who can’t handle something sweet?” Pause. “Er. Sorry if that’s too personal.” OOC: @Mel (sorry about the delay)
  15. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Something about the Dashi was still tickling the back of Lekua’s brain, but he put it aside. “Ah, well, that’s actually quite the long story. I’d love to tell you, really, but you know, I’m awfully hungry…” OOC: @~Xemnas~@Mel@TL01 NUVA@Tarn
  16. IC: Aija, the sea. Weeks in the past. The heavens roar with thundering hatred, hurling down sheets of rain in their torrential fury. The sea churns madly below, tossing the fishing boat wildly across the waves. Lightning streaks across the blackened sky, illuminating the scarlet armor of the hideous serpentine Thing as it alights with a deafening shriek on the deck. Screams fill her ears, the screams of her sisters, cousins, friends, and are cut short in rapid succession by the whirling, slashing, stabbing instrument of death that is the Thing’s staff. Its eyes lock with hers. FEAR. Panic. Terror, the like of which she has never known, floods her veins. For a moment she does not, cannot move. Flee. She launches herself from the boat as far and as fast as her legs will take her, extends her arms, dives headfirst into the angry sea. Behind her the boat creaks and cracks and shatters, and the storm pounds her home and her livelihood to splinters. She swims fast and she swims deep, and she does not look back for a long, long time. / When she has swum long enough and far enough to remember her own name, Aija eases her pace at last. Breathe. Her eyes scan the waters from behind her Kaukau. Aija floats in inky blackness, the only illumination the flash of her heartlight, faintly visible through her waterlogged robes. Her right hand drifts toward her neck, feeling for – yes, still there. Then to her left forearm – the dagger is still strapped in place. Fear still grips her, but her relief is enough to draw out a faint surge of courage. Her eyes turn upward. At the surface the storm strengthens, and Aija is a speck of copper in the roiling sea. She strains to scan the horizon, squinting through the crashing rain, bobbing helplessly amid waves many times her height. A wild, impossible thought of lifting herself above the water flashes through her mind, but such feats are far beyond her. Valiantly, obstinately, Aija fights the waves, coughing and sputtering as she struggles to keep track of whether she’s breathing air or water, her strength slipping away. And then she sees it, a dark, unmoving mass on the horizon. The waves push her down and she pulls herself up, and the mass is still there. Oki. Far, but she can make it. She will make it. She sinks back beneath the surface. She is not alone. The terror courses through her anew as she sees the twin yellow orbs, glowing hungrily, and the massive form that lurks behind them. Aija knows that takea are mindless beasts, but in that moment the shark’s eyes flash with unmistakable malice. The takea rushes toward her and it is all Aija can do to reach out, her power stopping the rahi in its path. She draws her dagger and dives. The takea strains against her control, writhing madly, and she releases it. She needs her strength to swim to shore – though she also needs to be alive. The takea, freed, bolts forward with the speed of a bullet, rocketing just above Aija’s head. No way to outswim it. No way to keep it at bay. Only one way to do this. Her heart pounds and her ears ring and the takea surges forward again. Wait. She waits too long. By the time she freezes the shark in place, its teeth have already sunken into her leg. She gasps with pain but holds on. The jaws are not clamped shut, and she manages to pull her leg free as she swings and slashes and stabs at every bit of exposed flesh she can find. When she releases it this time, the wounded beast flees to the depths. Aija breathes. She cuts a scrap of fabric from her robes and binds her leg. She swims for home.
  17. IC: Lekua, Great Takea Lekua stopped casually at the table of admirers on his way to the bar. “Getting some mixed reviews, I see. Think I’ll choose to believe yours,” he said with a wink at the Kakama-wearing Matoran. “As to your question, by the way—” he turned to the one with the Calix and grinned “—nope, I’m the only one.” His brow furrowed as he took a closer look at the Dashi. “Say, have we met somewhere? Would have been back on Sado, or maybe you came over on the Yukanna too?” OOC: @~Xemnas~@Tarn@TL01 NUVA@Mel
  18. IC: Lekua, Ga-Koro Docks If Lekua had learned one thing from his incredible journey across the endless sea to a fantastic foreign world, it was that he hated boats. Wait, he knew that already. Lekua officially learned nothing from his life-changing, destiny-defining quest. Other things Lekua hates, besides boats: ships water oceans rahkshi infected rahi water (again) mysterious Matoran who won’t give you a straight answer having no earthly idea what’s going on, ever (He was used to that last one by now, at least). Things Lekua likes: psychic ladies? the dragons were pretty cool in retrospect finally getting off this spirit-forsaken boat Any minute now. His eyes scanned the sky, but he heard the bird before he saw it. Cyclone landed quite suddenly on the deck behind him with a screech and a flurry of wings, much to the alarm of some of those aforementioned psychic ladies. The kahu nipped at Lekua affectionately, and he grinned widely, patting the bird’s neck in greeting. “I missed you too, buddy. Let’s get out of here, yeah? Some food or something?” He leaped on the kahu’s back and they were off. Far below, he saw Leli and Tarnok disembarking, and he spared them a quick wave. He’d see them again soon enough. Maybe. / “There’s good.” He pointed down at a building labeled THE GREAT TAKEA. “Platform looks kinda crowded though. No need to go all the way.” Cyclone wheeled gently toward the building, at when they were some ten feet off the ground Lekua stood up in the saddle and leaped, somersaulting once, twice, landing in a roll, springing through the door. IC: Iraanus, Great Takea As Rhow and Taoki were caught up in their talk of sea travel, it fell to Iraanus to address the daredevil Le-Matoran who had just fallen from the sky beside them. “You there, welcome to—” Above them, the newcomer’s kahu perched on the Takea’s roof. “Oi! Sorry, but you can’t park your bird—” But the Matoran was already inside. Iraanus rolled his eyes, then directed them at the kahu, firing off a quick warning burst of impact vision. With a cry of alarm, the bird took flight, soaring off above the town. Right. Anyway. He turned back to his coworkers. “As I was gonna say, prob’ly some bad stuff happenin’ back home to make so many of ‘em come all this way.” He frowned for a moment, then grinned. “Either way, though, should be good for business, eh? Might finally be time to expand the buildin’.” OOC: @Vezok's Friend@Palm
  19. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro Vaíl spares a glance at the new arrivals but is quickly distracted. Ferellis’s drink is startling in its extravagance. “That’s terrifying,” says Vaíl. It is a joke, but only just. “Truly. How is it?” OOC: @Mel
  20. IC: Vaíl, Bright Star Inn, Le-Koro The alcohol dulls a sharp twinge of anxiety. Her social graces have faded, but she is able to reassure herself that they have not vanished entirely. “Vaíl,” says Vaíl. Would it be appropriate to extend a hand? She does so anyway. “It’s my pleasure.” OOC: @Mel
  21. IC: Vaíl, jungle A woman stands at the crest of a mossy— No, that’s not right. We return once again to the woman with the bandana— S###. OK. Let’s try this instead. Perhaps the question of what is the most straightforward. Vaíl has been many things, though what she was in the past is of little concern at this point in our tale. At present she is a hunter. Afternoon sun filters through the canopy as she creeps through the underbrush, bow in hand, footfalls all but silent, eyes intent on her prey. As before, we shall not use the name Vaíl herself would call this creature but shall identify it rather as a deer. And as before, a single smooth motion brings the creature’s days to an end. Vaíl is not a woman with big plans. From whence Vaíl comes is another matter. Exactly six to eight weeks ago Makuta returned to the world, and exactly six to eight weeks ago Vaíl quite suddenly came to find that a solitary life suited her no longer. She traveled first to Nokama Port, then Pala-Koro, and finally now to the village of air. Whether she has accomplished anything of value on this journey is an open question, but if nothing else she is not alone – at least in a nominal sense. Vaíl adjusts her bandana as she cleans her kill. The where is a much broader question, one that has been asked from the time we first encountered the woman with the bandana on her mossy ridge. As Vaíl works, a narrow answer presents itself in the context of an answer to a previous question. What is Vaíl? She is thirsty. / The first stars of the night shimmer faintly in the darkening sky as Vaíl enters the Bright Star Inn. The sale of the deer has heavied her pouch to an intolerable degree, and she now lightens it. A shot of rum vanishes from its glass. A mug of beer is soon to follow. Perhaps she could make a friend. This thought has occurred to her before without yielding fruit. But hope springs eternal. Beside her at the bar, a woman with teeth in a patchwork of gold and steel nears the bottom of her drink. It takes little observation to notice that the woman is less than entirely well. Perhaps it occurs to Vaíl that this woman could use a friend as well – or perhaps it is something more practical. She places a few widgets on the counter between them. "Looks like you could use another round?" OOC: @Mel
  22. IC: Iraanus, Great Takea Iraanus heard the crack from Rhow's spine and, not to be outdone, made a show of loudly cracking all his knuckles at once. "Didn't we walk in on a funeral procession? Not sure 'flashy' is the word I'd go with." Beside Rhow, Iraanus crossed his arms and gazed out over the harbor, brow furrowed in contemplation. "Seems like there's fewer evil Toa and murderous rahkshi out and about today, too." Small blessings, right? OOC: @Vezok's Friend thanks for making me look up what actually happened the day we got here lol
  23. please let this work the fourth time Name: Vaíl Gender: Female Species: Toa of Plant Life Mask: Miru Appearance: Dark blue body with pale green armor and mask. Tall; athletic frame. Reddish eyes. Often wears a brown leather knapsack in which she carries her equipment. Occasionally wears a red bandana. Powers: As a Bo-Toa, Vaíl is able to manipulate plant life and possesses an innate understanding of the various attributes of plants, even those she is unfamiliar with. Her mask gives her the ability to levitate. Skills and Abilities: In addition to her natural understanding of plants and their properties, Vaíl has extensively studied most of the flora native to Mata Nui. She has accumulated considerable knowledge of natural poisons and antidotes, as well as more mundane information such as nutritional value and seasonal growth cycles. She is a competent hunter and tracker, and she favors her bow when she needs to fight. Weapons, Equipment, Tech: One compound bow A number of standard arrows A handful of arrows fitted with a modified version of a Stralix grenade rather than an arrowhead. Expensive and relatively unreliable, these don’t get used often. One short sword One dagger Numerous vials of poisons, antidotes, and medicines. One first-aid kit Two lightstones One heatstone Two canteens One pair of binoculars One coil of rope One grappling hook One bedroll One tinderbox Two bandanas One mess kit Several days’ rations One pouch of widgets Bio: Vaíl has traveled much of the island. Recently, she spent an extensive period living alone in the jungles of Le-Wahi. Personality and traits: Reserved, pragmatic, and self-sufficient. Weaknesses: Though she has combat experience, Vaíl is not a trained fighter. She tries to avoid direct confrontations when possible. Name: Lekua Gender: Male Species: Matoran of Air Mask: Miru (powerless) Appearance: A bit taller and leaner than the average Matoran. Green and white armor; green mask. (MOC) (Art by Bulik) Powers: As a Matoran of Air, Lekua possesses enhanced agility and athleticism. Skills and Abilities: Lekua is strong for a Matoran, though he is still much weaker than members of other species. He is a skilled bird-pilot and a good shot with a disc. Weapons, Equipment, Tech: Two short swords with white blades One dagger, also with a white blade Several wooden throwing discs of various weights A wooden flute; used to call his kahu, Cyclone One heatstone One spyglass One disc launcher; usually mounted on Cyclone’s armor Bio: Lekua was a member of Le-Koro’s Gukko Force for many years until he was given leave by Turaga Matau to join Stannis in the latter’s search for the missing members of the Chronicler’s Company. When Stannis, Aurax, and Lepidran left the party, the rest of their companions disbanded, with the exceptions of Lekua and Nichou, who continued traveling together. Eventually, these two parted ways as well, and Lekua wandered the island alone for a time before returning to the Gukko Force. Back in Le-Koro, Lekua was approached by a mysterious Matoran who implored him to travel to Kini-Nui and seek his destiny. To be honest I kind of lost track of what happened after that but he wound up in the Kentoku topic somehow and there was a portal and a kanohi dragon and some rahkshi, then he hopped on a boat and went home Personality and Traits: Lekua is not so carefree as he once was, but he is still opposed to taking life too seriously. He can be rather impulsive and easily becomes impatient when things aren’t done quickly or efficiently. He shows little restraint in providing his opinion on any given topic. Weaknesses: Lekua’s recklessness and impulsiveness have landed him in more than a few difficult situations. He harbors a healthy fear of water and sincerely hopes there aren’t any more boats in his future. Cyclone: Lekua’s friend and companion, Cyclone is a kahu who trained and served with Lekua during his time in the Gukko Force and remained with him throughout his travels, except to Kentoku. He is of average size, and his jet-black body is protected by teal armor. Name: Iraanus (eer-RAW-nuhs) Gender: Male Species: Skakdi of Water Appearance: Golden body and spine; wears royal blue armor. (MOC) Equipment: Spear Zamor launcher. Zamor types: acid (contains a highly corrosive green liquid) and chain (contains a silvery liquid that binds the target to the nearest living being with an energy chain) [approved by Tyler] Hidden daggers x2 Staff won from a rahkshi of shapeshifting (obtained here) Powers: Elemental water (in cooperation with another skakdi); impact vision Skills and Abilities: Iraanus is proficient in melee combat. He sees himself as a talented tactician. He’s also the head chef at the Great Takea bar-and-grill. Bio: Iraanus rarely speaks of his life before his arrival on Mata Nui, claiming that he prefers to live in the present. After his unceremonious awakening on the beach of Ta-Koro, a “chance” encounter with rahkshi in Le-Wahi led him to join forces with another Ga-Skakdi. Rhow and Iraanus recruited a “Horde” of skakdi with a shared hatred for Makuta and his servants. The group’s travels eventually led them to Ga-Koro, where they settled as the owners of the Great Takea. Personality and Traits: Iraanus has generally good intentions, but his demeanor is often aggressive and abrasive. His problem-solving strategies tend to be either very direct or hopelessly convoluted. Weaknesses: Iraanus is supremely confident in both his martial and tactical prowess, and he is not as effective in ranged combat as he is in melee. Name: Aija (EYE-zhuh) Gender: Female Species: Dasaka Mask: Kaukau Caste and Clan: Saihoko; Taajar (Zhagravar) [not approved due to player inactivity] Appearance: Very dark blue body; mask and natural armor are copper in color. Wears loose robes, poncho, and straw hat typical of Taajar saihoko. Powers: Aija has some competency in the Mindarm discipline, but she she has had no formal training, instead relying on informal guidance and self-study. She can breathe underwater courtesy of her mask. Skills and Abilities: Aija is a skilled fisherwoman. Having spent much of her life on the road or the sea, she is a capable survivalist. Like many Taajar, she is trained in the use of various melee weapons common to the culture, and she is physically strong from a life of manual labor. Weapons, Equipment, Tech: Aija currently has nothing to her name except for a stone dagger. Bio: Aija was born to clan Zhagravar, a small Taajar clan of herders and fisherwomen native to Oki. She was trained in the latter profession and made her trade traveling throught Oki and the Archipelago with a handful of her kin. When the rahkshi descended on Kentoku, her band were scattered - to her knowledge, she was the only survivor. She now makes her way back to her family home on Oki to learn of her clan’s fate. Personality and Traits: Determined and resourceful. An optimist and a survivor. Weaknesses: Fairly inexperienced with her discipline. Can be excessively stubborn. Name: Rezena Gender: Female Species: Kaiakan Appearance: Very tall and muscular, even for a kaiakan, and stands with flawless posture. Very dark purple body and skin with some dull silver accents. Parts of her skin, notably around her eyes, are tattooed in pale blue with markings associated with her clan. Her eyes themselves are gold in color. Prefers not to wear armor and dresses in simple, practical clothing. Lots of pockets and pouches. Not actual appearance but this is the vibe Equipment: -Rifle of make common to Zakaz -Shotgun of make common to Zakaz -Standard explorer’s gear -Axe (tech item): This axe is carved with kaiakan runes and clan markings, though the axe is not of kaiakan make. The advanced features of this device are controlled by a pair of bracers worn by the user (only one bracer is needed at a time for full functionality). When “switched on,” the weapon’s blade is shrouded in a halo of pale blue-green light. In this state, the blade can cut through organic and inorganic material with much greater ease, even cutting through rock and metal with some effort. If the user is separated from the axe, they can pull the weapon back to their hand by an unseen force. If the axe is secured well enough, this force can also pull the user to the axe. When the axe is thrown, a skilled user can use this force to subtly manipulate the axe’s trajectory, allowing improved distance and accuracy. (Approved by Bulik) Skills and abilities: Like most kaiakans, Rezena is gifted with immense physical strength. Though she favors her axe, she is competent with most common weapons as well as various styles of unarmed combat, courtesy of her upbringing in the High Eyrie. She is an accomplished explorer and a skilled navigator and survivalist. Bio: Rezena often looked down from the High Eyrie as a child and dreamed of exploring the world below. She has no steady employment, but work isn’t difficult to come by for someone of her skills. She has spent time as hired muscle, but her interests and specialization lie in exploring the uncharted wilds and wastelands of Zakaz and uncovering the untold secrets and treasures they hide. Personality and traits: Rezena is a thrill seeker and a risk taker. She thinks of herself as invincible and, as she is still (somehow) alive, has yet to be proven wrong. Weaknesses: None known (to her) (she is easily seduced by the ideas of adventure, wealth, and power and has a penchant for carousing) Companion: Rezena is accompanied in her travels by a mountain tarakava named Kriv. Some would suggest that the lizard is the brains of the operation. Mountain tarakava - this cousin of the water tarakava is roughly the size of a housecat and native to Seprilli. These lizards do not have the extensible limbs of their relatives, but they have prehensile tongues that can extend great distances. (Approved by Bulik)
