Toa

Toa (13/293)

  1. I have a good solution. Make it so that the gender ratios mirror the exact gender ratios of real life. Problem solved.
  2. It's not that LOSS is a bad set. It's that all the other sets in winter 2015 out-shined it.
  3. The theory came out at around 07' I believe. I was very skeptical of the idea at first...but the arguments that they made were sound and there were a lot of evidence. Moreover, all the evidence pointed towards a single conclusion. By 2008 I was fully expecting the Mata Nui = Matoran Universe theory.
  4. False dichotomy. Mystical vibes can feel epic so long as the story is well written
  5. I guess the trouble with Lhikan MoCs is that it usually resembles Tahu a tad too much. I always envisioned that Lhikan was slimmer and more aero-dynamic, like a spy. Whereas Tahu was always more heavily armored and imposing, like a general ready to take on an army in the front lines. I think a CCBS Lhikan MoC would look a lot more distinguished if we used more black shells with red highlights...and keep the gold to a minimum. Like maybe mask-and upper arms.
  6. One solution is actually to chew or use pliers on the end where the axle connects to the gearbox. This will displace the plastic and give the connection more friction. I would recommend against doing so if you can find a tighter connection by switching out the pieces. Tahu comes with 3 axles and 3 gears. Simply switch out the one with the loose arm. I never hold a set by the arms, either. The only time I've ever had Tahu's arms fall off is when I personally tug on it.
  7. I've never had an issue with Tahu's arms falling off.
  8. Get Pohatu if you already have the other 5 Toa. Then you'll have the entire team for added play value. That in and of itself is a plus. Save the money you'll spend on LoSS for a summer villain like Skull Grinder. If you're tight on cash, I recommend getting your favorite Toa + Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder. That way you get a hero, a protector, and a villain all for around 40-50$
  9. I actually don't mind gold and silver, but they should be reserved for the elite characters or special characters. Like I have no problem with Tahu's golden armour.
  10. Too many to name. Tahu's fire swords. Tahu's magma swords from 03 and Lhikan's swods were my favorite weapons of all time, and I never had a chance to get them. This is like an improved version of both those two combined. They can click together, which is very nice. Very satisfied. The masks. Boy, these masks stay faithful to the original Mata design, yet have such a new and improved look. Very satisfied. Love the portrait view of the Hau. The heads. The fact that the masks now clip on like an actual mask is a major plus for me. The fact they also have an action feature where you can launch the mask is another major plus. Also, I love the fact that Tahu's eyes are now blue. That's icing on the cake. The gear box. What else can I say? It's genius. Actually, the Toa from the 2015 winter wave of Bionicle is arguably the best Bionicle sets we've ever gotten. It's going to be tough following this up.
  11. All Toa are the same size, roughly 7 feet in height I think. Sets within the same scale are in scale with each other. 01-03 and 2010 is one scale. 04-05 is one scale. 06-09 is one scale. Of all the sets, I consider the inika-glatorian the official scale so far as sets goes. Probably because it's the closest to the one we have in Gen 2. 2015 should be pretty up to scale, because the sets were created with the size difference in mind. And we're pretty advance on the building system not to expect a huge dramatic change in size anymore, so the entirety of gen 2 will likely be in scale. I'm not counting animations. Unless they go stars on us.
  12. Most powerful entity would likely be the Mata Nui robot. That's a true planet buster. Most powerful species in the MU would be the Makuta with probably Miserix or Teridax or Icarax at the top of the food chain in terms of combat prowess. Most powerful Toa would be Tahu, who has Makuta powers. Most powerful elemental power are the element lords. And of course we have the golden being, anona, and the likes
  13. The sword arm. So for most characters, right handed. For characters who use dual weapons, like Tahu, I assume that training has allowed them to become equally proficient with either hand in combat.
  14. Euugh... Bionicle is the last place I want to discuss idealogies. I have a solution: First, leave the original characters alone. That is, Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, Lewa, Onua, and Pohatu remain the exact same gender as they were before. That means that fans of any of these characters that like them for the gender they were can remain happy. No point in retconning some guy's favorite character into a different gender. Then introduce more female characters. So introduce a steady cast of female characters to balance out the cast. We can have female heroes with the power of fire, ice, earth, ect, ect, ect...and play around with the roster. Kitania: You're saying that because the general media is heavily geared towards males, that in turn favors an argument that BIONICLE should be solely geared towards females? Isn't that just refuting an extreme with another? If you want to promote a healthy diet in the midst of a nation full of obese people, the solution is not to starve yourself to skin and bones. Shouldn't we, if we were truly interested in promoting equality between the genders, promote a cast of both females and males that both play strong roles to the plot. I dunno, the whole concept of Bionicle being a counter-balance to the rest of the media seems ridiculous to me.
