Tatterdemalion's Achievements

Inhabitant

Inhabitant (2/293)

  1. IC: Dastana Haiko (Sado) "Ageru. Funny. I'm Haiko, by the way." Haiko lead Tama through the crowd. The gathered merchants had already begun to disperse after the declaration of Dastana's independence. She retained her confident demeanor as she swaggered across the way, occasionally stopping to make sure that the Ageru was keeping up with her long strides. "Arsix, as you can imagine, has a rather busy schedule planned, but I'm sure she'd make an exception for me." She thought of her rather... strained relationship with her clan, letting a smile slip on to her face. Tama wouldn't need to know her own standing just yet. "We'll have to hurry to catch Arsix. She's soon leaving on an important trip." In truth, Haiko had no idea where Arsix was going, but it must be somewhere important, right? She just needed to catch her before she left Sado. The tall Menti increased her speed, loping along the path her Toroshu took when leaving the area, following the awed looks of Saihoko.
  2. I would assume that the inhabitants of Spherus Magna have a distribution of right/left/bi-handedness similiar to Earth's. In the same vein, it would make sense that the inhabitants of the MU were mostly ambidextrous. It doesn't really make sense to build "robots" with a dominant hand. That would also sort of explain the inclination towards duel-wielding combat styles in the MU, which isn't as prevalent in the Spherus Magna residents.
  3. IC: Dastana Haiko (Sado) The stranger "just wanted to ask a question" to the Toroshu? Haiko retained her nonchalant look as she contemplated what to do with her. The warrior was either an Imperial wishing to defect or a very bad assassin. Either way, she couldn't make a scene here, in the middle of the capitol. "Very well. I'll escort you to Arsix myself." At the very least this should be interesting. "You wouldn't happen to have a name, would you?" Haiko added as an afterthought. It would be easier to travel with the warrior without having to refer to her as "stranger."
  4. I've sort of adopted the idea that the skull spiders are actual masks that were created by Makuta and were brought to life by the golden MOSS. The LOSS is a natural rahi that Makuta is influencing to control his legion of constructs.
  5. IC: Dastana Haiko (Sado) The warrior abruptly turned to face her. Haiko got a better look at the stranger. She was muscled and wore simple clothes and armor. Haiko took note of the warrior's Kanohi, a mask of rebounding. Strangely, the warrior led a black Soko. Black. An unlucky rahi... if I believed in such things. The stranger addressed her, her question dripping with the Imperial accent. Excellent. An Imperial, and a heavily armed one at that. Haiko leaned on her naginata, tilted her head and smirked, adopting a nonchalant pose. "Why, hello. What could an Imperial such as yourself be doing pursuing our esteemed Toroshu? Surely nothing of malevolent intent, I hope. I'd hate to make a scene." Haiko dropped the condescending tone for a moment, as she was geniunely curious of this stranger's intent. Despite her accent, she certainly didn't look like a typical Imperial warrior. "Why are you chasing after Arsix?"
  6. This is the most bizarre thing ever, and as a musical buff, I approve. My vote goes towards The Producers.
  7. (OC: First RP! Thought this was as good a time as any to introduce Haiko, a somewhat roguish Dastana menti. The mysterious warrior is yours, Rucks) IC: Dastana Haiko (Sado) Haiko watched from afar, her hood up and her poncho displaying only a dull brown so as to not attract any unwanted attention. The only orders she'd been given were to come to the plaza and "watch for trouble." As if she knew what that was supposed to mean. Honestly, if they expected her to actually be on the lookout, they'd tell her what and why. She didn't like blindly following orders. As the spindly warrior balanced precariously on a short pillar, gazing about the plaza, an increasing commotion caught her attention. What could this be? A wonderfully thrilling speech, I'm sure. She spotted Arsix and her twin marching through the plaza, a throng of traders and merchants trailing in her wake. Her curiousity piqued, she leaned in closer to catch tidbits of the speech. At first Haiko couldn't pick out any words from the commotion, but the Toroshu's last words were heard all across the plaza. "We secede!" After a moment of contemplation, a smirk spread across Haiko's mask. Well, well. Dastana's finally up and left the high-and-mighties, huh. I like it. She wasn't the most avid follower of the clan herself, but it was an improvement over those Umbraline loyalists. "This... should be most interesting," She spoke aloud. As the Toroshu threw off her cloak and stormed back out the plaza, Haiko prepared herself to follow. This was her kind of intrigue. Just as she slung her her naginata across her back, Haiko spotted a peculiar figure out of the corner of her eye, darting through the crowd towards Arsix. A large, muscled character in simple clothes, armed with sword, shield, and bow? That sounded like trouble to Haiko. "Hey! Warrior! You with the shield!" she called out, beginning to bound across the crowd towards the mysterious warrior.
  8. Of the Makuta, I believe it was said that Icarax was physically more powerful than Teridax, so it's between him and Miserix as the most physically powerful Makuta.
  9. Name: Haiko (Hay-Ko) Species: Dasaka Gender: Female Caste: Menti warrior Clan: Dastana Alignment: Chaotic good Appearance: Standing half a head taller than most other Dasaka, Haiko's appearance could be most aptly described as "peculiar." Very slim and lanky, the Dasaka is clad in thin, dark blue armour highlighted with a coppery orange, faded by salt and sun. Her lower legs are fitted with an additional layer of clouded crystal, giving the effect of wearing high, heavy boots, to the point of being cumbersome. She wears a faded poncho that hangs loosely over her slight frame to her lean hips with a hood that she only draws up during heavy storms. The poncho is of a reversible fabric; one side is an inconspicuous, muted brown, the other a bright cloth-of-gold displaying the Dastana colours. Haiko's Calix is wrought in a smooth, nebulous shape with arching eye slits, as well as inlaid crystal spots above each of her perpetually inquisitive amber eyes. Haiko's left eye has a nearly-imperceptible twitch, prompting her to often keep that eye squinted slightly more than the other. Her face is often posed in a smirk, though whether it's of skepticism, debauchery, or scheming is debatable. Traits: Haiko is a wandering spirit, whose loose sense of honor and unity has earned a her a dubious reputation in her clan. She values freedom above all else, and feels that she and all others should be free to pursue their own desires. In Haiko's case, this often means the search for personal gain. While she still operates as a warrior of her clan, Haiko often feels that personal morals and opinions take priority over the decisions of higher authority. Her tendency to quip in inappropriate situations serves to infuriate her superiors. Despite her often roguish personal ambitions, Haiko still has a strong sense of personal honor, doing good on her own terms, rather than when compelled by others. While most see her as untrustworthy, Haiko is very loyal to those she deems friends. Always a performer, her flourishes and tendency to balance in awkward positions are at best charming and at worst infuriating, as is her seemingly-constant state of amusement. Stealth and subtlety are not her strong points; Haiko hates having her movement constricted. She oozes self-confidence. Weapon(s): While in its original capacity a weapon, the long, flexible wooden naginata carried by Haiko serves as a multipurpose tool rather well, and its sharply curved crystalline blade is well-suited to Haiko's combat style. Combined with Haiko's already-impressive acrobatic skills as well as her Calix, the naginata can be used for vaulting, swinging, and reaching far-off objects, rendering it a perfect tool for her. Mask: Great Calix, Mask of Fate Powers: As a Menti of the Dastana Clan, Haiko is an adept user of the Mindarm discipline, using it to augment her highly mobile endeavors. She is especially proficient in moving her own body with her mind, levitating and flinging into the air. She wears the Kanohi Calix, allowing her to perform at the peak of her physical abilities, giving an edge to her acrobatics. Weakness(es): Haiko is more adept at escape than close combat, and her thin and lightly-armoured body cannot take a hit. In addition, she often underestimates the levity of dire situations, allowing her to be caught off guard as she quips and taunts. Biography: Haiko's bloodline traces back to the Toroshu of an old, noble clan, who was accused of treason against the Empire and was removed from power, her clan disbanded and Haiko's family shamefully reduced to Saihoko sailors. Whether the accusations were true or not is debatable, and makes little difference in Haiko's mind. After generations of being trod upon by the rest of society, Haiko and her small family joined the fledgling Dastana confederacy, and Haiko's rank in society jumped to Menti warrior. After spending the majority of her life taking orders from no superior, however repressed her minority was, being put in a governmental position with a commanding officer has required her to adapt, with mixed success. Haiko is struggling to reconcile her sense of independence with her newfound position in a society that is potentially worth fighting for.
  10. If we're comparing the Nuva and the Inika, the Inika would get my vote. Better characterization and better sets, not to mention that I really enjoyed the 2006 arc. However, the Mata would be pretty equal with them. The color and classic sets, not to mention the excellent setting of 2001 are tied with 2006 as my favorite years. I've never liked the Mahri.
  11. Surprised I haven't heard Voporak yet. He's the only known person in the universe to be able to control time naturally, so there's that.
  12. While I think that LoMN is the best movie in many ways, such as character developement, I do remember that as a self-contained story it didn't make much sense. The Metru Nui saga is when I started to get invested in the story, and before I really researched the plot, a lot of the parts of the movie confused me. Ok, they found out that Teridax is putting Matoran to sleep, but in the next scene he has already completely captured the entire population of the city? What? The time-jumping they do in the movie is never very clear. Not to mention that Mata Nui falling asleep isn't explained at all, as far as I can remember, so Teridax's entire motivation is left ambigious beyond "I'm evil!" While all the movies have some merit, I don't think any of them are very good, although I do still enjoy them.
  13. I've finally emerged from lurking in the shadows for years.

  14. Here's a few that I've always had for my canon universe: - Gender-dominant tribes - Romance exists in the MU, but more as just a really strong bond than anything else - The whole Matoran shrinking/rebuilding thing didn't happen, and that 2001 Matoran builds were the default for the species, although there existed minor regional deviations. - More than one thousand Matoran were brought to Mata Nui, and subsequently perished in the thousand years afterward. - Only the named species are actual species in the MU, and many of the other creatures inhabiting it are one-of-a-kind or nearly so, and were designed for specific purposes within the GSR that didn't require entire species. - The Great Beings were orginally fully organic, but by the time of the Shattering had completely replaced their organic parts with technological ones, even putting their consciousnesses into robotic brains. -The Dark Hunters are a much smaller faction than canonically stated, with the named members making up the majority of the group. - (Stealing from an earlier post with this one) A Makuta cannot use a power if he has made a Kraata of it until he reabsorbs the Kraata. If the Kraata is killed, the Makuta loses the power. Teridax lost six powers at the battle for Kini-Nui
  15. I'm almost certain that they already have an Ekimu and Makuta set designed, as you can see what pieces are used to construct their torsos and hammers. The animators wouldn't have taken liberties that specific unless they had a reference model already constructed.
