  1. Super Rare LEGO Bionicle Rahkshi TRANS-ORANGE Kraata Stage 1 and Krana 5 Pieces | eBay
  2. Do they have photos of the back/inside of the mask?
  3. I know right? I saw it 7 minutes after I got the notification and it was already gone. $99 Canadian bucks ain't bad
  4. Someone ought to tell them to move their sale to the correct color. Otherwise the much more common copper color price is gonna go up the wazzoo (not that it isn't already insane)
  5. Any lego part released in a retail set, no matter how limited, that is priced over $100, is stupid high
  6. https://youtu.be/u2Y1f65GneY?t=1654 The one they sold, was it this same one?
  7. That's very interesting! What's the story behind the gun-metal Hau?
  8. Wonderful to hear about the design process, as well as the absolute love put into this gift! They really considered every aspect of the set, even down to the box and manual. If Nick & Niek, or anyone else who worked to get this out, are reading this: thank you! This will adorn my desk for a long time ❤️
  9. MISSION BIONICLE QUEST FOR MASKS # 205 LEGO | eBay ah, nevermind, it's not first edition
  10. I'm kinda hoping we get a few more of these vignettes. Imagine one with Gali and the Tarakava, Nuparu and Boxor, or Infected Lewa vs Onua. Not a big fan of the GWP FOMO tactics, but I will take it. I'm just so glad to see the classic Pakari detail again after 20 years!
  11. March 2001 AU issue of LEGO World Club Magazine LEGO World Club Magazine (AU) – March 2001 : LEGO World Club : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive On pages 12-13 we get images and descriptions of the new Bionicle Toa, as well as some information on collectible masks. Notice the masks that are included here. Each of the Toa's respective masks are shown, as well as a ghostly Matatu and Ruru. It's strange that these specifically are included here, and not depictions of the other 4 noble masks. Both the Matatu and Ruru were found to have "misprint" colors in EU mask packs. They were the only noble masks to also have Toa colors, rather than just Turaga colors, in the mask packs. Was the magazine publisher aware of this, and is this the reason these 2 masks are included in the line-up? It's also important to note the information at the bottom of page 12. While there was some debate across multiple Bionicle media as to whether or not the Toa had to collect 6 noble masks, we know that they collected the 6 great masks. There were indeed 72 masks available in the mask packs: 36 great masks (six masks in six colors) and 36 noble masks (six other masks in six other colors). However, the writer then states there are 12 masks in 6 colors. This could be an oversight/typo, but it seems to imply that the 72 masks were initially both the noble and great masks in only 6 colors, presumably the Toa's colors. However, the last line: This could refer to a number of things. It could reference the ultra rare gold contest masks, the rare promo masks, the infected Hau (which, despite not being counted among the 72 masks in the mask packs, was indeed included), or the EU misprints (Matatu, Ruru, and possibly the Kaukau). What do you think?
  12. I'm open to this translation. I think the only reason the two events seem tied together is because of the line "It is said ..." like it's a local hearsay. If they were not related, I feel like the author could have worded the two ideas differently.
  13. This has confused me for years. In Huki's old bio it reads: So, I am aware of Maku and Huki's playful/romantic relationship. I'm also aware that Po-Matoran / Po-Koronan (this must have been before the word "Tohunga" was dropped for "Matoran") relate to their elemental theme of sinking like a rock. What I do not understand is the nature of Maku's prank on Huki, and how this led to his ability of crushing boulders with his feet and hands. Did soaking Huki's mask lead to his talent of strength? If so, how? Is there some cultural reference I am overlooking?
  14. I agree, Makuta's dialog in MNOG is arguably the best. There's 2 lines from Mask of Light that carry a lot of weight, and bring a tear to my eye today: Jala: No, the duty was mine. You know who you are. You were always different... Hahli: It's time someone was YOUR chronicler!
  15. I thought it was always interesting that all of the McDonald's Tohunga had the kanohi of their respective Toa in a new color, except Maku. She didn't have a Kaukau like Gali, and her color was blue, just like Gali. The reason for this? I'm not entirely sure. My theory is that Maku was supposed to have blue-violet feet (2002 Jango Fett, Galidor Egg vehicle color) with a transparent blue-violet Kaukau, based on an old LEGO part inventory list. Why they never went with this color and mask? Perhaps it was one of the many items canned during the mid-late 2001 production line (not sure if it had to do with new management, LEGO putting more materials towards other themes in case Bionicle failed to save them from bankrupty, or the economic/social disruption of the September 11th terrorist attacks). Why Hahli replaced Maku? I believe that, initially, Maku was meant to go on the Mask of Light quest with Jala and Takua in the movie because early drafts of MOL had Hahli traveling with Jala and Takua as well. She was one of the first Tohunga introduced to us in MNOG, so it would only be fitting that Takua's closest/oldest friends would go on his quest with him. Between the Miramax producers, the script writers, and perhaps LEGO designers, it became clear that it was easier/better to create a new Ga-matoran character in place of Maku. The reason for this? Again, no clear idea. Hahli literally "pops up" in the last couple 2002 Bohrok animations, and then gets put through tests with kids under the Templar Studios staff to see if they would still play a MNOG sequel if the player was a girl "with a purse or satchel". Understanding why Hahli exists as a character you need to also understand why Takua, Ahkmou, and Nuparu exist. I think the initial plan with the Tohunga was that there were only 2 named characters per tribe: Kapura and Jala, Kotu and Maku, Hafu and Huki, Taipu and Onepu, Kopeke and Matoro, Tamaru and Kongu. All of these names are based on Pacific islander languages like Maori, Hawaiian and Rotuman. Takua, Ahkmou, and *arguably* Hahli and Nuparu are not, since their names were introduced after the Maori lawsuit with LEGO. Takua exists because of MNOG and the GBA game; he was a player character that became a character. Ahkmou was retconned as the unamed Koli ball salesman in MNOG much later. Nuparu was made for the Boxor set, which is why his colors are unique compared to early depicitons of Onu-matoran. Also, according to the LEGO inventory list I mentioned earlier, there could have been 2 additionally named/unnamed matoran in sand green and sand violet that were never produced. The prodcut comes first, the story and name of the character is second, and everything else follows after. I think Hahli may be the exception though. It possibly hinges on the idea that the writers/producers wanted a female character that was "sweet on Jala" and since Maku and Huki were already an item, a new character or a rewrite was in order. It could also be since LEGO and Miramax planned to turn Takua into the 7th Toa, that a new Chronicler was needed, and that Hahli was created to fill that role. I highly doubt that LEGO planned to do anything major with the Inika matoran back in 2001-03, since the initial plan was to end the Bionicle story in 2003. And then even when the decision to continue the story after the Mask of Light was decided, they focused on Vakama and the other Turaga for the next 2 years. You have to remember that while one toy is being released, the next one is already well into development. When the time came to continue the story moving forward, Hahli and Nuparu were fresh on everyone's mind at LEGO. The mask colors may have had some play in this too (especially with Nuparu, since Onepu's old purple color was discontinued).
  16. You could ask Peri, they've done some pretty awesome animation using the files from the flash game
  17. The others are Carlos D'anda and Randy Elliot, the comic artist and inker respectively. They actually talk about this event in their Bionicle Day 2021 stream
  18. If you're speed running the game you may have missed a task. Possibly in Onu-Koro, there are a lot of hoops and back and forth with that area of the game. Also, I am not sure if having the book of Chronicles and the golden chisel are required to beat the game, but best to make sure you go through every bit of dialouge with every Turaga. It also could just be a bad load and rebooting the game might fix it. Or you could try visiting Nuju again and see what he says. Which version of the game are you playing? If it's the one with the chapters you could replay a previous chapter, a little time consuming, but at least you wouldn't be starting over.
  19. The irony is, this is how I remember playing the game on dial-up back in 2001-02. From my understanding, the game was designed for those older computers with slower internet speeds. If you play the game today on modern systems it runs super fast. The Nui-Rama battle is nearly impossible to beat. Did you try looking into the player settings? (Right-clicking?)
  20. Yes. That's pretty lucky. I just assumed the Kaukau being transparent was manufactured in such a way that it affected mask distribution. I haven't seen a single one from multiple brand new decks
  21. Oh I'm not talking about the cards, I'm talking about the plastic Kanohi masks included in the boxed starter decks (same masks found in the Kanohi blind bags/boxes). They were used as game pieces/tokens
  22. By secondhand do you mean it had been opened and used before you bought it? All of the masks I've seen so far have come from sealed decks.
  23. Recently I purchased Toa and Bohrok decks for the Bionicle Trading Card Game. Each deck comes with 2 Kanohi, one for each respective Toa/Color of that deck (eg. A red and white Kanohi for the Tahu and Kopaka deck). I watched a few YouTube videos of fans opening TCG decks because I was curious about mask distribution. Fortunately, I did not receive common colored Kanohi --or base masks-- for the Toa, as I've seen some people had. I did however, get doubles of the green and blue Akaku from both the Toa and Bohrok decks. Coincidently, I got EXACTLY the same 6 Kanohi from the 3 Bohrok decks as another person on YouTube who had opened 3 different Bohrok decks. So it appears from my own purchases, and others, that the only colors available are blue, brown, black, green, red and white. But the only Kanohi I have seen are the Great Kakamas, Pakaris, Mirus, Haus and Akakus. No noble masks, but more importantly, no Kaukaus. Has anyone received a Kaukau in any of their Toa or Bohrok TCG decks? If not, why do you think this is?
