  1. Helryx Canister Design Final Update! Well folks, here we are! This has been a long time coming and I am so glad to have a finished Helryx set I am very proud of. A few details about the canister: This canister is resin printed in a translucent light blue, and I could not be happier with how this turned out. It uses a pretty basic threading system (very similar to the mata canisters) to attach the lid to the body. The sleeve features several things, including the official artwork, official moc, and a few other things. Currently the plan is to use some spray adhesive to attach it, although this one is attached using tape. The mask on this particular model is also a resin print, and painted using spray paint that has been color-matched to mata blue (or at least extremely close). In the background you can see a few things as well. The poster is laminated, and flanked by spiral bound color-printed instructions on the right and a spiral-bound artbook on the left, which gives some details about the Helryx and her process of canonization. I always wanted this to feel like an actual set of Helryx, like we were getting a new Bionicle set after so long. I think it is safe to say that I have achieved this goal and for that I am very happy. I cannot thank you all enough for the constant feedback that has helped me design this set. I will probably fail to mention everyone who has helped me, but a special thanks goes out to Natetromino, Yoshi, Vahki6, KingSidorak, Kodiak, Synnova, and VootCaboot for making this a reality. I know I am no doubt forgetting people and I will definitely edit this post and add them in after I comb through my notes. Also, this Helryx canister set coincides with the releasing of the Metru Nui Market! If you want to check it out, click on this link or check out www.metrunuimarket.com Yet another note: I would be remised not to mention the terrible irony that the completion of this set falls on the same day Greg has announced he will be leaving Lego. Lots of mixed emotions for sure, but I just want to take the time and say that he will be missed as a Lego employee, and I am forever grateful for the work he did in creating a theme that was such a big part of my childhood as well as so many others. The theme will always live on through the fans, and my prayers to out to Greg and his family. edit: I have been a bit rushed this week due to work and haven’t been able to take the right amount or highest quality of photos that I think this project deserves. I will be updating this post this upcoming Sunday with some more in-depth and higher-quality photos
  2. Helryx Canister Design mini-update 6 Here are resin 3D-prints based on the 3 lid designs (finally have my own resin printer ) Kini-Nui: Square: Dome: Very happy with the resin print quality. The Helryx Set is almost here! HM
  3. Helryx Canister Design Update #5! Finally, we are nearing the end! Without further delay, here is another update! Here are the final 3 concepts from which the canister will be formed, in order of least to most favorited by me (all of these revolve around the idea of being able to display the Mask of Psychometry with the lid): 1.) Dome This concept stays fairly basic, while adding some design elements to make the shape a bit more interesting. It has potential, and definitely is the most similar to the mata canisters of old. 2.) Square This concept really tries to use sharp lines and shapes to give a ‘foundational feel’ to this canister, tying into the theme of the backstory of Helryx. I am particularly fond of some of the shaping potential of the sketches, and it is definitely a unique shape for a canister lid. 3.) Kini-Nui This design is by far my favorite of the 3. I love the shaping of this design, and I feel the potential to display the mask is very exciting. I personally think that the Kini-Nui ties into the character of Helryx very well, and looks much more like a canister that would fit her. I’m pretty excited to finally see this coming together! I have had lots of fun working on this project, and I cannot wait to get to a final product. Please let me know your thoughts! NOTE - please check my Instagram for a video shot of each of these concepts; I think it adds a little more depth than text and images I’ll be back with another update very soon! HM
  4. Great news! Good to see Hapori Tohu alive and well
  5. Hey there! I am just seeing this listing, so hopefully I'm not too late, but I am interested in a few items you might still have. If you are still open to trading or selling let me know and we can DM details
  6. Impressive collection! Love seeing the Bohrok in a swarm Not sure if you have any rare items, but I am particularly looking for rare collectibles (most notably krana and kanohi, things like VMKK, GPKK, etc.). Please let me know if you have any and hopefully we can work something out HM *edit: I may be interested in those Virsorak shells as well depending on color
  7. Happy Bionicle day everyone! I'm using the attention of this day to search for ANY Grey Plastic Krana-Kal from protosquad owners! (Also looking for metal krana, particularly Vaccuum Metal Krana-Kal) I have included a picture of some of the krana I am searching for below (image not mine - I wish!): Hope everyone has a great Bionicle day! HM
  8. Alright, so this is absolutely INCREDIBLE Great job on this build! Amazing shaping. I love these mocs that bring a different style of building to the Bionicle world. Please tell me you plan on making instructions for this bad boy? I would love to build this.
  9. alright, this is epic. I am going to need some more photos of this clever little guy so I can build him myself
  10. I may be interested in the BrickMaster comics if those have not been taken yet. Also, Battle of Metru Nui is way over priced imo
  11. Okay actually been wanting to post a topic like this so this is perfect I am in the same boat as @Max Nui, looking to get a 3D printer of my own. I know I am definitely going with resin as that gets much better quality. @Gresh21 that mask of creation has some exceptional quality and detail I have been asking around the community, particularly in some CAD/printing focused Discords, and they seem to all recommend resin. I think I am going to go with an Elegoo Saturn. As I understand it, the Saturn has great quality, but also can print much larger objects (I plan to do more than just Bionicle masks with it). I would love to hear other people's recommendations though! It's a big purchase so I want to make sure I am making the right decision Also for those of you who have a resin printer, did you buy your curing station as a kit? And if so could you provide a description (maybe even a link?)
  12. Inside the box - more masks of Psychometry! (@ Creative Mechanics )
  13. Hey there! I'm interested in a few items here as well as some of the items I've seen on your other post. I sent you a few PMs, you can also email me via humblematoran@gmail.com if you'd like. Hope to hear from you soon!
  14. This could fetch a decent amount from collectors (myself included). Do you happen to have a picture of it? I would definitely be interested, but would have to see what you are referencing
  15. Found this thread, which although may not solve all the mysteries, is at least some additional info
  16. @Turaga of Force thank you for the clarification. That variety pack is so interesting, especially containing 2 parts that are so rare and nothing else...what a strange thing from Lego haha. It honestly would make sense that the Brown Komau came in some sort of mask pack. Throughout my time collecting Bionicle I have rarely seen a White Huna, but a Brown Komau I have seen surface every now and again. Ah yes, this is what I was thinking of, and yes I do recall it being dark red. I think the dark blue noble Matatu may have even been in the same picture. This is now jogging my memory on a dark red komau...
  17. Somebody has been busy collecting. I have a few other Bionicle deals going on at the moment I'd like to finish up, but then I may be interested (still) in some of those kakama/kakama nuvas
  18. Man, I am in love with this artwork! Reminds me of being a small child and staring at my new Lego magazines of the next Bionicle wave, soaking up every last detail I could. You have captured that feeling perfectly I hope you plan to do all 6 locations and I cannot wait for more to come out. Nicely done!
  19. This is fascinating. Bionicle really did have such a large impact on the toy industry and really the culture for many kids (myself included) growing up in that era. Great find!
  20. Another mystery box in the mail... (@Creative Mechanics)
  21. I didn't, but I had to ask to quiet the inner child Yes it is sorry, should have been a bit more clear. I am speaking about the Gray Plastic Krana-Kal (GPKK), which were a prototype for the Vacuum Metal Krana-Kal (VMKK). GPKK were given out to proto-squad members in 2003 by mail. If you have grey/gray krana, the genuine GPKK are much lighter in color, and are not as 'rubbery' as regular krana. Some images (not mine) for reference (GPKK is on the top row, second from the left end)
  22. Yes exactly! When I hear Tohunga i picture MNOG and Mctoran, but when I hear Matoran i picture the metrutoran and voyatoran etc
  23. This topic gives me so much happiness to read, that there are still others who care and need answers about these things haha I personally think it is probably a scale-back like you had said @Xboxtravis, where Lego had originally planned to release more. They were struggling financially at the time, so maybe they thought they had bitten off too much and dialed back on the kanohi production to save costs. I also think the miscommunication theory between the story and production teams has some validity, however Bob Thompson has a strong reputation of being on top of this stuff, especially when it came to this theme, which makes me a little hesitant on that idea. Of course, these are all just speculations. Same here. I have never heard of this but if it is true my inner child will go crazy haha Just to clarify - Lego advertised 8525 as having 73 possible kanohi & 8530 as having 88 possible kanohi? Or they advertised them as having 73 each? Or something else? Very confused matoran over here. Do you happen to have any more info on this? I somehow have never heard of this and am very curious. This is incredible. Right up there with the Platinum Avohkii almost being melted down. now that I think of it, I have not seen a bubble Kaukau that wasn't light blue. I will keep an eye out @Turaga of Force thank you for the pictures as well! Very cool stuff. If I recall correctly there is an even more rare red huna in existance
  24. Very impressive work! So cool to see them all displayed in the same place. How long did it take you?! Also, do you have a master list of sorts that you work off of? I've been working on my own comic collection lately, and while I don't have as many as you yet I'm steadily growing *leans on edge of seat*
  25. Which variant, if I may ask? Also, I know this might be a long shot, but do you happen to have any of the GPKK? They were given out to proto-squad members back in the day
