  1. Just because something is hard, or seems a bit challenging, doesn't mean that you should just give up entirely. I started drawing off with the male body, and found that the female body was drastically harder, and different, than male body. I went down the route of stopping all work on the female body... and it ended up being more detrimental for me later on. I'm just speaking from experience, here. Its the same thing with hands - if you don't try at drawing hands, you're never going to get better at drawing them. Draw from reference, do sketches of those references, draw from memory... etc etc. Drawing takes practice, just like anything else does. Your Hahli is good so far. I do like the bathing suit idea, and I still really like the idea of having a breathing mask on her. That said, your hands are pretty good so far! Don't be too hard on yourself c: Back to terms of anatomy, here, this is what I gathered from your drawing; uncolored, tho. Also definitely not my best as this was a quick sketch (excuse the rushed goggles; I totally forgot about them initially XD): Your Hahli, the one you drew, appears to me as an early teen. The tattoos don't make much sense to me (except for the ones on the face and upper arms). When doing tattoos, you should keep in mind the contour of the limbs that you are drawing them on, so they should move with the body, rather than just look slapped on like a flat canvas. Same thing with the hands - her tool and her waist are curved, so it would feel a little unnatural for her hand to lay simply flat against her hip. So what I did is tried to make some curves (in terms of lines, not actual anatomy). I also tried to make her look young (not yet a Toa), which all has to do with face roundness, placement of the eyes (and sometimes size, but that depends on the style you're going after).
  2. I like what you did here! I think for Tahu, you might want to shift his skin color closer to the yellowish side rather than red, just because (to me and on my monitor), it looks a bit like a highlighter pink, rather than peach. Or if you want to keep it within that color, then move the color a little bit more away from the white and the neon-color. So like... I know that isn't the color you picked, but you probably want to pick something more within that area for a skintone. Otherwise I love the rest of the designs - I am digging your Gali!!
  3. Yes yes yes, I really like what you did with Lewa I think the new tone you picked compliments his color scheme better IMO
  4. For the Takua comic - that's a neat idea that he can switch back to his original colors. Where does his hair go, though? Also, a bit of critiquing on just anatomy - arms don't jut that far out from the body. Its nice to see that you are giving a nod to the actual set design, but I would bring in the shoulders a little bit so that you close that gap between arms. I mean, I do that all the time in my drawings ^^U Oooh I really like your Lewa design! I like the accent of yellow - its not something you generally see on the humanized drawings of him I think you have a nice balance of all the colors, and they all compliment one another. Also digging the darker hair. (is he referencing G1 and G2? Or just one of the two generations? Just curious). Lastly... Why not expand with different skin tones as well rather than all the characters sharing the same shade of peach? They do live in a tropical area after all - but that's just my two cents.
  5. I like your designs and concepts c: I think they are cute, and you have a nice general look for Takua, Jaller and Hahli. I'm not going to nitpick your designs, because that isn't my place to do so, but I can give you advice from the comic front. Speaking as someone who makes a comic based on the Bionicle series, I can understand making things "simple". My comic and human designs utilize both human designs with a flare of mechanical look. Yeah, your designs are simple. But hey, in my comic, mine are simplified versions of what they could be. There is nothing wrong with having simple designs in order to make a comic that updates weekly (for me, personally), in order to have pages pumped out as you need. When I first got started, one of the pieces of advice I got from an experienced comic artist was to pick designs that weren't too complicated to draw week by week. But you know - what makes a character stand out is how you approach the character and their design. Many human Tahu's are typically drawn with red-spiky hair, muscular, and some sort of grumpy face. But how are you going to make that different? Different from the rest, that is. Your OC designs are awesome - they stand out, they are each individual from one another. They have a really good idea behind them! Take it from me, personally. Having a simple design is okay. You can still have a simple design that stands outs - simple does not mean generic. But I would rather have the designs be simple than a generic design to be drawn quickly for a comic that is posted weekly.
