  1. Rahkshi cannot operate without kraata.
  2. Hey, this is a nice project! Although there is bound to be some overlap with the Biological Chronicle, the website does look pretty snazzy. And you're right, BMP is not a place for reading stories, it's more for archival purposes. As Toatapio said, I highly recommend you take advantage of the Biological Chronicle project's pre-transcribed novels. Not only will it save you countless hours of effort, but Toatapio, TuragaNuva, and others (including me) have corrected numerous mistakes in the original transcripts and fixed continuity issues. It's the product of multiple people proof-reading the texts from beginning to end dozens of times, while still incorporating feedback from the community. It's turned into a pretty valuable resource. Maybe you should coordinate closely with TuragaNuva and Toatapio on this. They have been doing yeoman's work to figure out the best way to arrange the texts into a cohesive story (which is not always easy). You're bound to run into some of the issues that they have. One advantage of your site is that you can easily incorporate the animations into the narrative.
  3. A reasonable price for a WMKK with bag and certificate seems to be about $400+ these days, which is up from the $200 suggested in the official collectibles topic. There was one for sale in the BST forum a couple of months ago. I don't know what to do about leads other than being patient and waiting for one to pop up. They do show up now and then.
  4. Hi, FYI, it seems that you are unable to receive PMs. I would be interested in many of the kraata you have for sale. I may have a few kraata and masks to trade. Send me a PM, and I can follow up with a list. Thanks!
  5. The BST forum has the best deals (and the best people ), although it has slowed down a lot over the past several months. I think there are a couple of people actively selling their collections right now though, so you should check it out. You tend to find rarer/more interesting items there. BrickLink is also very good. A lot of sellers who post here also have a BrickLink store. Even eBay has some good deals from time to time, so do keep an eye out, but generally you can do much better on BrickLink and BZP. The prices on eBay can be... silly.
  6. Personally, I have always gone with the CGI render over MNOG. The fact that MNOG2 agrees with it convinces me further. The mask and feet in the CGI don't look yellow to me, they still look lime green. They probably rendered it with different lighting.
  7. Those messages were actually clues for the Search for the Seventh sweepstakes, which was the contest for winning the platinum Avohkii. Fans were supposed to guess the seventh Toa's location from the locations labeled on the map of Mata Nui in the front of the book.
  8. You're doing Mata Nui's work as always, Toatapio. Down the line, if anyone has copies of the more obscure region-exclusive books like those found on this page, that would be really appreciated. I'm particularly curious about the AMEET books.
  9. I will contact the BMP technical staff for you and see what they say.
  10. Is this what you were thinking of? It's the 2012 orange brick separator, and I've used them to separate those parts, too. I've also used the old construct method (here). Here is a more recent update that looks more stable. No to the first one, yes to the last two. I don't recommend prying them apart.
  11. In my experience, they only get damaged if you do it like an idiot. When I bought separated Mata heads in bulk from Bricklink, most of them had a nick at the top of the head piece where someone clearly separated the pieces by prying them apart with a metal instrument. This is not the way to do it. The best way is to use a Lego-made apparatus that gives you enough leverage to push/pull the pieces apart using force that is perpendicular to the interface between the two pieces. There is one device in particular that I'm thinking of, but I can't find it on Brickshelf at the moment. Even as a kid, I never damaged pieces using it.
  12. Honestly, it would be really helpful just to have a complete list of all of the OGD snapshots that are available. I can start a list in the first post. Searching for http://www.bzpower.com:80/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890* with a star at the end is a good starting point, but for some reason, it does not return all of the snapshots that are available on web.archive.org. It's possible to find snapshots that do not appear in the search results.
  13. Excellent, that helps! It's hard to find direct evidence of posts being deleted. There's even another post quoting one of the posts that was deleted. If only we could see whether those posts still existed in 2013. If they did, it would prove that the text file is missing content.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm hoping that you can help me solve a little mystery. If you don't remember, I run a site called the "Official Greg Discussion Archive" (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/), where I reconstructed the contents of the long-lost Official Greg Discussion topics from a series of text files saved by fishers64. Those text files used to be available for download here, although it looks like they are no longer available. I can provide them if necessary. My problem is this: in the second OGD topic (the "Official Greg Dialogue"), the text file only contains enough posts for 333 pages, but the original topic definitely had 334. The number 334 is corroborated by the last entry of the Farshtey Feed, as well as snapshots from web.archive.org as late as 2013. I'm trying very hard to determine whether there is missing content in the text file, the formatting of the text file is inconsistent, the code I use to process the file is incorrect, or something else. Most importantly, I'm trying to determine if there is something I can do to fix it. I have tried to figure out the underlying cause of this discrepancy from a number of different angles, but I haven't been able to come up with an explanation. Here is what I know that it isn't: Posts being deleted over time. If you look at web.archive.org snapshots of the first OGD topic at different points in time, you can see that a number of spammy posts were deleted throughout the years (by admins? I don't know.). However, as I mentioned before, the second topic still had 334 pages as of 2013, which is around the time the text file was created, so that does not explain it.The loss of all data between late 2008 and early 2009. Again, the fact that the topic had 334 pages in 2013 disproves this.Spurious "NEW POST" markers in the text file. The text file marks new posts with the text "NEW POST". There are some spurious "NEW POST" markers that have no content after them, and my code discards those. However, there are only 6 of these, which is not enough to reach 334 pages, so this does not explain it.Here are some examples of discrepancies between my archive and the snapshots on web.archive.org. The format is: <archive post #> = <original post #> (<difference between the two>) (<url> | <url>). 120 = 120 (0; perfect match) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page3#post120 | http://web.archive.org/web/20080421073524/http://www.bzpower.com:80/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&st=80&start=80)1641 = 1642 (-1) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page42#post1641 | http://web.archive.org/web/20080506125838/http://www.bzpower.com:80/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&st=1640)1797 = 1800 (-3; direct evidence of 2 posts being deleted) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page45#post1797 | https://web.archive.org/web/20080508084433/http://www.bzpower.com:80/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&st=1760&p=5298879&)2566 = 2601 (-35) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page65#post2566 | http://web.archive.org/web/20080421073528/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&pid=5372847&st=2600&&do=findComment&comment=5372847)3982 = 4022 (-40) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page100#post3982 | http://web.archive.org/web/20080628174902/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&pid=5573259&st=4000&&do=findComment&comment=5573259)4302 = 4345 (-43) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page108#post4302 | http://web.archive.org/web/20080714140349/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&pid=5628367&st=4320&&do=findComment&comment=5628367)13123 = 13183 (-60) (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page329#post13123 | http://web.archive.org/web/20100811083430/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=275890&pid=7021553&st=13160&&do=findComment&comment=7021553)Any ideas? I would be happy to give anyone who helps me figure this out credits on the site. BTW, I have a number of enhancements for the site planned. Stay tuned. 15. I think you have the right idea. Sorry, I got the chapter numbers mixed up! I'm using the chapter numbers from Standard Book 2. Just to be clear: Chapter 11 ... same ... "Suddenly Onua stopped, seeing something glinting golden in the sunlight." End Chapter 11 here Chapter 12 Chapter 13 "He walked on toward the outskirts of the treetop town. As he drew closer, Onua became aware of a sound somewhere ahead." ... rest of Chapter 11 + Chapter 13
  16. The comics are "supposed" to supersede the books when there is a conflict, and I'm not a fan of inserting new text in general. I would prefer to fix it by deleting things. This is a tricky situation, though. One idea is to cut off Chapter 12 at "Suddenly Onua stopped, seeing something glinting golden in the sunlight." Get rid of the sentence "It was a Kanohi mask – Lewa’s mask, lying on the ground abandoned. He bent to pick it up, not liking what this might mean." Combine the rest with Chapter 14, starting with "He walked on toward the outskirts of the treetop town. As he drew closer, Onua became aware of a sound somewhere ahead."
  17. A few things in that spreadsheet are dubious... I can't find any evidence that Tiribomba is Spanish, for example. I wasn't sure about Amaya meaning night rain at first, but it turns out that it is in fact a female given name in Japanese, and its kanji do mean "rain night."
  18. I'm growing more convinced that the MNOG2 devs just looked up a bunch of names in an off-the-shelf baby name dictionary. One book says that Shasa is an African name meaning "precious water," Nixie is German and means "water sprite," and Visola is African and means "longings are waterfalls." Pretty obvious that Vhisola comes from Visola (even though Visola was not used in the game). The same book lists Anakin as an "American" name meaning "warrior"... wow... Apparently Kailani in Hawaiian means "sea and sky."
  19. Shu can also mean "tree" in Chinese, although I think the Egyptian god interpretation is more likely since all the others are air-themed. I'm finding a lot of the missing ones just by Googling "X name meaning." A quick Google search shows that Aodhan is a Celtic/Gaelic/Irish name meaning "fire" or "little fire." It's the diminutive form of Aodh, the Celtic sun god, and also the origin of the name Aidan. Lots more information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aidan_(name) Tiribomba (tiribombă) appears to be a Romanian word which usually refers to carnival rides but can also translate to "firecracker." I don't know Romanian, but online dictionaries tell me that "tir" means "fire, shooting," and "bomba" obviously is "bomb." The Ukrainian word vohon' (вогонь) means "fire." Nuri is a name from Hebrew meaning "my fire." According to Wikipedia it means "my light" in Arabic and is a common name in Turkey. Okoth is an African name meaning "born while it was raining." The baby name dictionaries are frustratingly nonspecific about the language it comes from, but they say it's Ugandan (which is a country, not a language). One source says it's from the Luo dialect.
  20. I never realized how much they drew from Japanese for the Le-Matoran. Kumo is Japanese for "cloud," Sanso means "oxygen," and Taiki means "atmosphere," although "wicker basket" is not inappropriate either. Same for the Ko-Matoran. Kokkan means "severe cold," and Toudo means "frozen soil." Mamru was also spelled as Mamoru, which means "protect." Hafu surely comes from an unrelated Maori word, not Japanese. Agni always reminded me of Agunimon, who was a fire character from Digimon.
  21. Don't forget that LEGO did have to produce the Revenge of the Sith sets on time, so they had some form of insider information. What was the Revenge of the Sith reference in Time Trap again?
  22. It was said, most likely somewhere in the OGD, that most of the Matoran names in MNOG2 were actually real names taken from relatively lesser-known languages/cultures. I know Hungarian isn't exactly obscure, but it's not something English speakers are generally familiar with, especially in the US. The thinking was that, since they were already real names, they were less likely to run into legal trouble with trademarks, any more than they were likely to get sued for naming a Matoran "John." Now that I think about it, that was a really dumb idea, since that was basically what got them in such hot water in the first place. It's hard to imagine that the Bohrok were not inspired by the destroyer droids from Phantom Menace. I have always felt that the original defining elements of BIONICLE, specifically the color/element/type system and the collectible mask system, were always a direct response to the Pokemon craze in that era, as many, many toys and TV shows of the time were. Granted, Bionicle was like the third iteration of that response, after Throwbots and Robo-riders. Frankly, I'm surprised that I never hear people discuss this, because I have always considered it to be plainly true. What do you all think?
