Animal Crossing: New Leaf is fantastic. My town, Ericton (before you ask, yes, my name is Eric and yes, I named the town after myself), is growing quite rapidly and it's all thanks to my beetle farming hard work and determination! I've already got three bridges, a fountain, and a two-story house with a basement coming tomorrow.

I just love the way this game works - it almost seems like a sequel to both the first one (one of my favorite games of all time) and City Folk, because all of the features in them are either here or heavily improved upon. Town modifications are a natural progression from the first game's signboards and random bridge creations, and the more functional island and Main Street (which is what the city should have been like) bring out the best of both games. I know some people are going gaga over the addition of shoes and pants/dresses, but it's not a big deal to me - I've never really cared about accessories (aside from the Link costume in City Folk. That was pretty cool.). There is one minor fault with this, though - my brother found a beard and kaffiyeh at Able Sisters and the natural reaction was 'I'm going to be Moses!', but having a toga with pants was just weird and trying the toga as a dress looked really, really weird. So yeah, you can't really make a convincing Moses in this game, which is a shame cause Moses is freaking awesome to have as a costume in AC.

Moses aside, I really like this game. It's as close as Animal Crossing has ever gotten to recreating the feel and experience of the first one, and that is pretty freaking awesome. For the record, here are how I would rank all the Animal Crossing games:
    1. The original (the absolute best one, with so many features that it is just as fun to jump in today as it was in 2002)
    2. New Leaf
    3. City Folk (I know some people hate it, but I thought it was fun for a while)
    4. Wild World (If you have New Leaf, you don't ever need to buy this game. It isn't bad, but it ripped out a lot of what made the first one so great.)

Well, it appears I (thankfully) missed another blow-up on here. I have no clue what happened, but I assume someone made an insensitive or offensive comment and people took offense to it. If that's the case, (s)he probably deserved it... But that's not the biggest problem I see here.

The community is split in half. One half has one view, one half the other. Most people are respectful, but a few on both sides can't stand everyone on the other. That is a major problem. A split of opinion is not a bad things - much good has come from people who have different views, but respect each other and try and get around those differences. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams are a good example, and in more recent times it would be George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. No good can come from people - regardless of which side they stand on, which beliefs they endorse, which religion they are - disrespecting huge chunks of society. People who think everyone that disagrees with them is a disgusting bigot who deserves to be belittled, ridiculed, and robbed of the respect that we all as human beings are entitled to are the problem in our society. Being a 'tolerant' person does not give you the excuse to treat others poorly, and being a 'righteous' person does not give you a right to treat others poorly... As a matter of fact, nothing gives you the right to treat others poorly.

I can't speak for everyone who believes what I do, but I believe that everyone is equal and that, regardless of how you see someone else's beliefs or lifestyle, they are human and you are just as messed up as they are. I believe we share more in common than not, and I believe we would truly understand our neighbor more if we laid down the pitchforks and started talking about things. Does that mean that you can't disagree with someone, or view something they do as wrong? Of course it doesn't - we are given a moral compass for a reason, and calling out true evil deserves to be done. But it does mean you should treat them as you would treat yourself, your family, your friends, your beliefs, and your country. I'm not perfect, and I mess up on this a lot... But I want to strive to view things that way. And you know what? Nothing can excuse not reaching out to someone. If you disagree with them, guess what? That's life. Nobody is going to think exactly the way you do, and you are going to disagree with people. To me, I think if we could just sit down and talk, we'd find more in common than you might think. We are all human, and most all of us strive to do what is right by our beliefs and our country... Even if it is just that little, that's still a great thing we share. You might have to agree to disagree, but who knows - maybe that could help you, and your opposite, out a little bit. People are different - we're all different - but we are all people.

But, it's a shame that such an event could likely never happen here. It pains me to see this community I've been a part of for a third of my life be torn apart by intolerance from people, and that's really all I'm getting at. Can't we just agree to disagree, get on with our lives, and get back to being the best LEGO community on the internet? I miss the days when I could truly say that about our community. I miss the days when, instead of yelling at each other and taking sides and names, we could just talk about our shared interest.

I've been enjoying my 3DS very much for the past few days, aside from one issue... Freezing. For some reason, Animal Crossing: New Leaf has frozen at least four times now. I have a physical copy, and am using the SD card that came with the system; when the game freezes, it returns me to the home screen. Most recently, the game froze while I was on the island (and after having earned well over 70,000 bells).
Any advice, guys? I don't want to lose my town data, and I have no clue if this is a hardware issue with the 3DS or an issue with the game cartridge or SD card.

I had a fun little mini-adventure for a 3DS today, and I've got to say I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

So, to begin I decided to go to Best Buy to get a red, regular 3DS. They have them going for $154.99 online (a significant discount from the $169.99 MSRP), but the model is discontinued so there just aren't too many out there. By the time I got there, they had already sold it.

At this point, I'm pretty bummed. I don't have enough to get the full-price ones. We spent a tittle longer out and finally get to Sam's Club. After enjoying a delicious pretzel with Cherry Coke, I decided to see their price for the heck of it. Turns out they have a ton of purple 3DSes going for $139.99 each. After confirming with a cashier that they are indeed that low (she was more shocked they had 23 of them in stock), I bought it and a full 1-year warranty that covers basically everything but intentionally destroying it, bringing the total to just under $160. So yeah, I get a new 3DS and full warranty for well under the MSRP.

Oh, and we got Mexican Coke too. What better way is there to celebrate a great deal that imbibing in sugary soda?

So, the area of North Carolina I live in has become victim to a massive flash flood over the past 12 hours or so. The flooding is covering bridges and roads, causing pretty big sink holes to form over said roads and bridges, and all sorts of other nasty stuff. This is just another part of a really bizarre summer we've been having around here - the weather has basically alternated between hot, drought-type weather (90+ degrees) and very rainy weather.

Thankfully there are no reported fatalities or injuries yet, but emergency services are urging everyone to stay indoors (except for one residential area near a dam, which is being urged to evacuate). Hopefully people follow that advice.

So, I've pretty much set in mind I am going to get a 3DS in the next few weeks. I have more than enough money at the moment, but I think I'm only going to buy the console and one game at the moment. Now, the difficult thing is deciding which game to buy. I'm wavering between Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. So, BZP, which would you recommend?

I got sunburned a few days ago. Now the itching has begun.

    SO. FREAKING. ITCHY.

I about want to chop off my arms at this point.

If you ever get synburn itch, take a cold shower. That's about the only thing keeping me from having a panic-induced heart heart attack,

Kudos to Sony for rejecting always-online and DRM. I already knew I would not be purchasing an Xbone, but I will probably get a PS4 in a year or two. Very similar specs, but PS4 doesn't require online (which means Mincrosoft could end Xbone access in the future), no DRM (right of first sale FTW), and no always on, possibly always-spying Kinect. And, to add to that, it is $100 cheaper.

And if you haven't seen it, look up Sony's "How to share games on the PS4" video. It is amazing.

I know I've gotten involved in some testy situations on here, but I really get upset whenever something blows over on here. For a website that I've been on for over half a decade, it really disappoints me that we can be so disruptive to each other. It's always bothered me how people can be so vicious on the internet due to a disagreement on something, but in real life we're more willing to be nice and talk. I have an idea: let's treat our internet relations just like you would treat a relationship with a friend, a co-worker, a classmate, or a roommate. If you wouldn't say it to any of those people in real life, don't say it on here. Conversely, treat interactions like you would with them - if something concerns you, tell them up-front and in a way that won't make them ignore the message.

Remember, we're all BIONICLE fans - can't we come together as a community and try and help understand each other, not tear each other down? If somebody says something that isn't right, there isn't a need to yell at them or say how terrible they are - explain what is wrong about it, and why it offends you personally. Understanding never hurt anyone, and that's all I am going to say.

PYONGYANG, DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA - Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has announced with much fanfare that the mighty People's Navy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (PNDPRK) will invade the United States. The boat, manned by skilled Korean soldiers, will be launched today and is scheduled to land in America some time in the next 24 months; in a show of support, Supreme Seader Kim Jong-un will ride with the soldiers on their quest to destroy America. Surely the Americans will be unable to defeat PNDPRK with the aid of Dear Leader.

In a statement Dear Leader stated that, while launching nuclear missiles was considered, such an attack would be unfair to the Americans due to the overwhelming power of the People's Army of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (PADPRK). Instead, the glorious power of the Koreans will be demonstrated by attacking on the sea. "America has no chance to defeat the Navy of the People," Dear Leader Kim Jong-un reiterated. "We urge the American capitalists to surrender immediately or face destruction".

Under the leadership of Eternal President Kim Il-sung and Supreme Leader Kim Jong-il, the DPRK has emerged as the world's leading power in sports, military, and economics. They have won the last 15 FIFA World Cups and established themselves as the world leaders in baseball, basketball, hockey, and handball. The citizens of DPRK also enjoy much greater lives than those of global capitalists; the rice ration was doubled from 1 kg a year to 2 kgs a year, a far higher rice ration than any other country on Earth. Under the leadership of Kim Jong-un DPRK is ready to destroy South Korea reunify with South Korea and then expand communism globally.

I finally got lucky with packs yesterday. I got a 99, two-star Antonio Gates basketball card as part of a Legendary pack. These go for anywhere from 60,000 to 120,000 on auction, but it is a very good gameplay card, so I'm debating what to do with it. I've also finally settled on a team name, the 'FightingSheldns' (bonus points if you get the reference).

So in more Madden 13 UT fun today, I managed to win a Legends pack (as well as 8,000 coins), and who else did it contain but the G.O.A.T: Jerry freaking Rice. Considering I'd been looking to buy a Jerry Rice card, this is great - the card also contained a Anquan Boldin, Greg Olsen (one of my favorite Panthers), and 92 Jay Ratliff. Seriously, these packs are awesome.

In addition to those, I bought some other cards off auction - Marshall Faulk (reviving the Greatest Show on Turf, perhaps?), 97 overall Eric Weddle, Josh Scobee, Thomas Morstead, and Mike Tolbert. All of this boosts my team overall up to a 93, quite a ways away from my pitiful 80 overall just a few days ago. My offense is looking to be a juggernaut, but I still need to improve my linebacking corp as well as offensive line. Additionally, my naming contest is still up and running - we've got The Springfield Mascots so far, and I'd be glad to take more.

Okay, so over the past few days I've managed to radically improve my team. Here is my current lineup, with bolded players being new additions:

    Offense:
QB: Kurt Warner (96 overall), Steve Young (93 overall), Cam Newton (85 overall)
HB: Adrian Peterson (85 overall), DeAngelo Williams (84 overall)
    FB: Stanley Havili (63 overall)
WR: Randy Moss (84 overall), Lance Moore (82 overall)
TE: Vernon Davis (95 overall), Jason Witten (93 overall)
    LT: Joe Staley (87 overall)
    LG: Justin Blalock (85 overall)
    C: Scott Wells (89 overall)
    RG: Brandon Moore (89 overall)
    RT: Bryan Bulaga (89 overall)

    Defense:
    LE: Calais Campbell (93 overall)
    RE: Osi Umenyiora (88 overall)
DT: Tommy Kelly (86 overall), Terrance Knighton (84 overall)
    LOLB: James Anderson (87 overall)
    MLB: Sean Lee (88 overall)
    ROLB: David Hawthorne (88 overall)
CB: Leon Hall (89 overall), Patrick Peterson (84 overall)
    FS: Pat Tillman (79 overall)
    SS: Ronnie Lott (96 overall)

    Special Teams:
    K: Graham Gano (72 overall)
    P: Donnie Jones (78 overall)
KR: Patrick Peterson (99 overall), Brandon Banks (99 overall)
PR: Patrick Peterson (99 overall), Brandon Banks (99 overall)

    Other:
Head Coach: Vince Lombardi (99 overall)
    Jerseys: Carolina Panthers
    Overall rating: 89

As you can see, a lot of new additions. Vernon Davis was priced insanely low at about 1,500 coins, and Kurt Warner was an even more absurd 3,400 coins. I'm a big Kurt Warner fan, so I'm really glad I could get him, and Vernon Davis makes a great TE duo with Jason Witten. You may be wondering why the Adrian Peterson card is rated only an 85 - it is a 'Treat' card, much weaker than any other AP card. Regardless, he and D-Will make a good one-two punch at running back and I'm not too conerned there. My biggest holes are at FB and WR currently - I wanted to get Mike Tolbert at FB, but all fullbacks are priced insanely high. I'm not as concerned about WR, given I run a lot of two-TE sets.

Also, I'm going to hold a little contest here. Right now my team name is "Panthers4Life", obviously a pretty lame name. So basically I invite any and all of you to suggest a name here - I'll take the suggestions and hold a poll here to determine a new team name.

Update: I've managed to acquire both Lawrence Taylor and Dick "Night Train" Lane since this post.

So I've been getting into Ultimate Team lately, mainly due to Connected Career becoming impossible due to not being able to restructure contracts (seriously EA, what the heck were you thinking?).

Anyway, I just completed the NFC South Solo Challenge, and my reward was Ronnie Lott (96 overall) - in case you don't know, one of the toughest players in NFL history and one of the best to boot. I've been working on my offense more than anything but with Ronnie Lott at SS I shifted a rookie version of (the late) Pat Tillman (79 overall) to FS, with a decent cornerback tandem of Leon Hall (89 overall) and Stanford Rout (84 overall). My biggest hole is at linebacker - I don't have a single guy with a rating of over 66. On the offensive side I have Steve Young and Cam Newton at QB, DeAngelo Williams at RB, and Jason Witten at TE - aside from that, it's a pretty meh group. Right now I'm at an 80 overall If anyone wants to play against my team just shoot me a message.

I'm considering making a comics version of Surivor set with BZPower members. Yes, I know the idea is not original but nobody has done it in a long while and I think it would be fun to do. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in being a player on it (I'd be looking for around 14-18 members to participate, split into either two or three tribes depending on size), and what gameplay elements people would be interested in seeing from such a series.

EDIT: I will send a PM to all interested users with requested information. Expect a request for a spritesheet as well as some character information to help create more compelling storylines, challenge results, and alliances. I'll need a decent number of interested players first, so I don't have to resort to filler characters or use my own.

So glad to see my Panthers annihilate a team for two weeks in a row. Too bad we couldn't play like this earlier in the year, but finishing on a strong note is great.

On another more, how on earth did the Lions lose to the Cardinals? They lost 58-0 last week. I thought the Lions were better than this, honestly

Stop slandering everyone with autism, something you clearly know nothing about. If you had even the slightest grasp of what autism is you would realize that most people with autism aren't mentally capable enough to speak, let alone shoot people. And if you had the slightest grasp is Asperger Syndrome, you would realize we aren't "missing something in the brain", we aren't depressed, and we do have empathy, perhaps even more than you do; rather, many of us find it hard to recognize nonverbal speech.

If you'd perform your 'journalistic duty' and study your topics before running your mouth, you'd stop slandering millions of people. Instead, I urge you to retract your false claims and clear up the misinformation that you irresponsibly spread.

So yeah, Commissioner Goodell wants to expand the playoffs. Not a good idea; aside from weakening the playoffs substantially, the math just doesn't work.

With 14 teams (7 from each conference), there would have to be only one team with a bye because:
*With 2 byes, you get five teams in the first round
*With 3 byes, you get five teams in the second round

With 16 teams (8 from each conference), there would have to be four teams with byes because:
*With 1 bye, you would have seven teams in the first round
*With 2 byes, you would have five teams in the second round
*With three byes, you would have five teams in the first round

As you can see, expanding the playoffs would mean reducing or increasing the number of byes (which isn't a good idea IMO) to prevent unbalanced playoff rounds. If the NFL used a three-division format (a possibility if expansion teams are added), the format might work better but would increase the number of wild card teams as a side-effect. My opinion? Keep things as-is.
