almost 16 years since I joined this site as a kid. it was a major part of my life for so long. to say that my time and the people I met here was instrumental to my development would be an understatement.
so many friendships came and went, even a relationship started and ended here, and the drama - so much drama. all the arguments, bullying right-wing bigots, carving out an identity and (infamous) reputation through so many different phases and identity crises. Laughin'Man, Scythey, Ryuujin, Serein, Heck - I changed so much from the time I started here till I faded away that it feels like I was five different people, and there's a little bit of every one that's made me who I am today.
shout out to the 3 people who might see this and think, "hey, I remember him". and to the handful of people who joined after I left who are reading this and thinking "who's this weird old guy?" just remember when you're pushing 30 the people, places, and things that got you there.

hi nobody here remembers me or cares but here's a life update entry cause it's been a hot minute and things have been pretty big

a little over a month ago some stuff happened and I ended up alone and jobless and checking myself into a hotel with the intention of hanging myself from a doorknob

then I started seeing a psychiatrist and got diagnosed with PTSD and borderline personality disorder and started therapy and took up meditation and got put on like three more mood stabilizers

fast forward to now and I have friends who I'm hanging out with regularly, a new job that so far is the best I've ever had, and an awesome and gorgeous new girlfriend who is incredible

I went from the lowest point in my life where I felt utterly hopeless and like my life was over to an absolute high where I'm optimistic about the future and feel legit happy for the first time in a long time

I still have my moments and I still have some stuff to continue working on, but things have changed (for the better) in a way that I had become absolutely convinced was not possible.

my only complaint is that people keep saying Tom Hanks played him, which simply isn't true. Tom Hanks was Woody in Toy Story; Sully was played by John Goodman.

other than that, easily one of my favorite Pixar characters.

not even kidding. I had one of these in my room and last night it exploded and almost started a house fire

smelled something burning and suddenly there was a loud bang like a firecracker and a flash of light and smoke and sparks started pouring out of the top of it

unplugged it and threw it away this morning. I didn't even realize it was still plugged in, I hadn't even used it in 10+ years

there will be only two sets the first year, Malibu Tahu and Game Dev Tahu
Pohatu and Kopaka will finally get married and adopt Takua
Onua will be a horse just because. it's popular these days
Makuta's real name will be revealed and it's Geoff, with a G, not a J, get it right
    crossover with Lego Friends
new animations but due to budget constraints all narration and voices will be replaced by stock sound effects of dolphins
will be promoted with an original song composed and performed by Death Grips
the villain will be a tennis ball that some kid threw through your window and it hit your shelf and knocked over all your sets...thanks Jeremy
Geg Fartshey will write the story, but halfway in he'll retcon romance and make Pohatu and Kopaka roommates and Takua their dog
will be a record-breaking smash hit in sales and wildly popular with fans, but will be cancelled after the first year because Lego craves child tears

sup dudes, dudettes, and wonderful in-betweens

that annoying thing known as life that some people may or may not have experience with is catching up with me and as a result I've found it necessary to cut some things out of it, BZP being one of them

there's no hard feelings or anything, it's just time for me to move on

I'll still probably lurk every once in a while and I may pop back in on special occasions (my 10th BZPversary coming up in a few months, for example) but for the forseeable future I won't be active

if you wanna keep in contact with me I've got a tumblr (scythey) and a twitter (scytheyyy) which I still regularly use. be warned that both contain NSFBZP language and content, however

it's been real BZP, I wish you all the best (those of you who aren't backstabbing sociopathic scumbags, anyway~)

    absolutely loved it.

without spoiling anything: 10 Cloverfield Lane is an all-around better film than Cloverfield, a very different film in some ways, a very similar film in other ways, and a worthy successor in every possible way.

what's this? a new entry on Scythey's blog that isn't a music post, some kind of bait-and-switch, or unfunny attempt at humor? I know, I'm disappointed too. never mind, it has all those things now. crisis averted.

first things first: this is officially my new proudest moment on BZPower

second things second (see, I can count): I got a drawing tablet and have dipped my toes into the abyss you call art. personally I think I'm pretty terrible at it but I started an artblog anyway (if you're dedicated enough you'll find it) and apparently people like my stuff enough to ask me to do art for them. I got the amazing opportunity to do the interior artwork for an actual upcoming music album that will be printed in an actual physical CD booklet, which is an actual dream come true for me.

third things third: speaking of amazing opportunities, two days ago I submitted a write-up for possible inclusion in a special featured article on a popular music site and today it was approved for publication. it's a large project that will feature a bunch of other writers and so far they've only got half the people needed so there's really no telling when it'll actually be finished, but still. also pretty much a dream come true.

and fourth things fourth: because this wouldn't be a good entry on my blog without some kind of music hype, new Katatonia album comes out this Friday and I should get my pre-order of the 2-disc limited edition by then. potential Album of the Year h y p e.

Digital Audio Tape (DAT or R-DAT) is a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony and introduced in 1987.[1] In appearance it is similar to a Compact Cassette, using 3.81 mm / 0.15" (commonly referred to as 4mm) magnetic tape enclosed in a protective shell, but is roughly half the size at 73 mm × 54 mm × 10.5 mm. As the name suggests, the recording is digital rather than analog. DAT has the ability to record at higher, equal or lower sampling rates than a CD (48, 44.1 or 32 kHz sampling rate respectively) at 16 bits quantization. If a digital source is copied then the DAT will produce an exact clone, unlike other digital media such as Digital Compact Cassette or non-Hi-MD MiniDisc, both of which use a lossy data reduction system.
Like most formats of videocassette, a DAT cassette may only be recorded and played in one direction, unlike an analog compact audio cassette, although many DAT recorders had the capability to record program numbers and IDs, which can be used to select an individual track like on a CD player.
Although intended as a replacement for analog audio compact cassettes, the format was never widely adopted by consumers because of issues of expense and concerns from the music industry about unauthorized high-quality copies. The format saw moderate success in professional markets and as a computer storage medium, which was developed into the Digital Data Storage format. As Sony has ceased production of new recorders, it will become more difficult to play archived recordings in this format unless they are copied to other formats or hard drives.

if you live in the US and there's a primary in your state today and you're able, go out and vote

I want to vote in the primary but because of my current living/family situation and the way voting works in my state, I unfortunately can't. so if you have the opportunity to vote and you pass on it, I'm judging you extra hard today
