  1. *[ACT]>Be a total Debbie Downer To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the memes. Part of it is because the Facebook group I'm part of really got into them, so half of my news feed is composed of nothing but memes, which gets annoying. But the thing is, I wouldn't mind that if it wasn't for the fact that Bionicle is dead and the future of Constraction figures in general is looking kind of bleak. It's just bad timing to now turn Bionicle into a meme.
  2. Not gonna lie, I was expecting them to have the doofy faces that the original Boneheads prototypes had. Aside from that, these are really good. I like all the accessories that the two of them have-it makes them look unique. The integration of System parts is very steampunkish. I hope you do more of these in the future; they're very cool.
  3. Wish we had actual instructions instead of just pictures of what the completed parts looked like. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to detail, so I don't like having to build something based on eyeballing it. Also, I so hope we get a polybag with the MoUP Stateside.
  4. So...how badly is Lego going to feel the backlash from this?
  5. I don't exactly have high hopes for the movie, but the sets look decent enough.
  6. Call me cynical, but why do I suspect that this means that the web animations will solely follow Kopaka and skip past the other Toa finding their Elemental Creatures?
  7. The Uniters are more-or-less the same as they were straight out of the box. However, I took the original Master armor and created armor racks for each Toa. That way, instead of trying to mesh the Master and Uniter designs together, I could just switch between the two sets relatively easily. They still have the Uniter gimmick in both forms, too. I slightly rebuilt four of the creatures so that the tails were actually, you know, tails instead of levers for the gear functions. Also to differentiate Melum from Terak. Umarak now has hands, extra shots for his bow, and armor pieces to fill in his legs. I also redesigned his bow to have an antlered look.
  8. First off, don't quote the entire chapter, just the bit you're responding to. Quoting the whole thing stretches out the page, and it's kind of annoying. I'll ignore your tastes in comedy and just say that the reason Vakama's upset about becoming a Toa is that, like he said, his destiny as a Toa has been completed. He wants to be an old fart because he's supposed to be an old fart. Good question. Hopefully, the author will return to this, because I really want to see it completed.
  9. Okay, that paragraph is probably the funniest in this entire thing. Also, have you considered putting all of these News Story-type comedies into one thread?
  10. I know everyone's talking about the fact that the Islanders have names now, but here's something else I noticed about that excerpt: Namely, that it mentions the flippin' Mask of Time!
  11. To the people complaining about the dinosaurs not being accurate: The dinosaur figures are based on how they looked in Jurassic World. It's not Lego's fault that there are some inaccuracies in the oh-so-scientifically-accurate Hollywood movie about creatures that haven't existed in living form for eons. Also, the dinos in those movies were genetically-altered mutants based on frog DNA, anyway. Think of it like that. On the subject of the sets, I don't really care that much either way for the Jurassic World sets (they look fine, though). I'm honestly more interested in the Minecraft sets, mostly because I could use them to make little environments for my Lego minifigures. I will admit, though, that stuff like the Ghast's size and the Enderdragon's wings are setting off my nitpick senses. =p
  12. Lol, poor Tahu. He put so much work into his big moment, only to get it stolen by Hafu. Also, the image of Onua on a unicycle is hilarious. Someone make a picture of that. Ah, yes, shipping. Because apparently, if two characters so much as share one bit of dialogue together, they're meant to be.
  13. Okay, is it just me, or does Sensei Wu's dragon resemble Falcor from Never-Ending Story?
  14. The Obsidian Mines have many abandoned shafts, closed off due to collapse, poison gas, or because the miners accidentally dug into the nest of some monstrous denizen of the depths. Such shafts are believed to be haunted by the spirits of deceased miners, who sometimes take their revenge on those who toil beneath the earth. So it only comes naturally that, shortly after the defeat of the Lord of Skull Spider, this nightmare comes crawling out of the caves of the Region of Earth. The Skull Warden's main defining feature is the massive cage on its body (or rather, that its body IS a massive cage).Anyone unfortunate enough to end up inside it is at the mercy of the Warden's claws and bladed legs, and their life force is slowly drained. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that the Warden is actually pretty intelligent, and sets traps for unsuspecting villagers. Its only weakness is Elemental Energy, and a lot of it at that. 15. Snoop Whatever-Furred-Mammal-He's-Calling-Himself-Now producing music for the reboot? Funny idea, but no. I don't know all that much about the music he produces now, but I'm fairly certain that him producing songs for Bionicle a la Cryoshell won't end well. We most likely won't be getting masterpieces, that's for sure; heck, we won't even be getting entertaining wrecks like the Piraka Rap. Lonely Island...on the one hand, I'm familiar with their work, and they do good music. On the other hand, I'm familiar with their work. It bears repeating, for example, that "Everything is Awesome" was supposed to be ironic. I wouldn't hold out much hope for a serious BIONICLE song from Lonely Island.
  16. The demise of the Lord of Skull Spiders only brought new dangers to the people of Okoto; one of those dangers was this entity. Initially spotted in the Region of Water, the entity got its nickname when it was observed mortally wounding a whale by impaling it on its massive head-spike. It has since started mindlessly walking towards Ekimu’s ancient city, attacking anything that gets in its way. So far, it has proven to be far more resilient to anything the people of Okoto throw at it than the Skull Spiders were. The only thing that actually does any lasting damage are elemental attacks, though the injury inflicted tends to be minimal. It seems that it would take a great deal of elemental energy to put the Whaler down for good, which makes it fortunate that it seems to be heading straight for the Toa... 17. Question: I already submitted my entry (topic link in my signature), but the entry picture I chose has the Protector of Jungle in it. The PoJ is not part of the MOC, and is just there to show off its main feature. Will my entry be disqualified because of this?
  18. I was meaning to ask about that: You don't think I'll be disqualified because I used the Protector of Jungle as the rider in the entry picture, do you? I actually got the idea for the Kewa after seeing [Nescent's Rahi builds. Since the original Kewa was a combiner model, I decided to try to build it from the currently released sets (those sets being the Protector of Earth, Lewa, Onua, and one or two parts from the Protector of Jungle). I was running out of parts partway through (partially because I was building another MOC concurrently), so that's why the wings look like they do. As much as I would like to fix the wings, though, It'll have to wait until the contest is over. Sorry!
  19. These semi-aquatic birds live on the coasts, lakes, and rivers of the Regions of Water and Jungle. They can fly, but they primarily use their wings to dive deep underwater. They subsist entirely on fish (and maybe the occasional crustacean). Though they look adorable, they can be incredibly hostile if threatened, and have been known to drive off the largest of predators. More pictures: Front Side Back Waddle
  20. Large black birds that make their home in the Region of Jungle. Though they look intimidating, they're generally peaceful unless threatened. Kahu can be domesticated, though attempting to tame wild ones can be extremely difficult. Those that do get tamed are used as part of the Jungle Village's military force, and are outfitted with Rapid Shooters. 21. So, I build myself the Dikapi, and I have a question: Are the silver fists at the front of the Dikapi's body supposed to be stumpy wings, or just decoration, or what?
  22. Wow, it seems I really struck gold with Nyx, haven't I? To be honest, I was expecting Eckoh or Baby Fire Villager to be the big hit; the former due to the unorthodox build, and the latter because everybody loves the Baby Villager. To be fair, I think I get why people like her; We don't really see a lot of purple set characters in Bionicle, plus everybody loves an absurd amount of weaponry. I've gotta admit, the Midak Skyblasters were more of an afterthought, really; I just slapped them on when I finished up the dual Rapid Shooter. As cool as the Blasters look, they're tricky to integrate into an MOC without it collapsing or the blaster sticking out like a sore thumb. I actually got the idea for the limbs from Click's Matoran designs. They work pretty well with the blue friction pegs, but I'm worried that the elbow and knee joints will start getting floppy after a while. The headdress was another "sure, why not" addition. Basically, it was something I could slap together in two minutes that would 1) set her apart from the other Villagers, and 2) not hinder head movement too much. I may tinker with it a little bit in the future once I have the time, but for now, the headdress will stay as it is. I actually tweaked Eckoh's design, and I'll upload the pictures tonight/tomorrow. I will say that the turbines are no longer yellow. =D Speaking of, Eckoh was originally going to be a more Pirate-esque character with the Protector of Water's mask, which is where the idea for the prosthetics came from. However, I figured Okoto would be more advanced than just shoving a metal hook onto your wrist stump, so I ended up making the cane to replace the traditional hook. Alright, I'll keep that in mine for future MOCs. Thanks. This was actually my favorite part, writing everybody's biographies. I'm the kind of person that likes writing stories for characters or franchises that have little-to-none. Some may see it as a failing on the creator's part (like with Hero Factory's burnout of a story), I see it as a niche to fill. As for the masks, yeah, I figured the names would be dropped for the reboot. I don't believe that the old Kanohi powers are completely gone, however. After all, the Mask of Creation still exists in this continuity...
  23. Again, the issue is that the rest of the webisodes were leaked...but yeah, it seems like they're rushing things a little bit. Part of me wants to think that the rushing is intentional, like Lego has some sort of big plan and that the story will be fleshed out later...but part of me thinks that they don't have a plan (or at least , if they do, it boils down to saying "There, we did Bionicle again. Now shut up" once the reboot finishes up).
