  1. I read an abridge version of Treasure Island when I was younger and I vaguely remember reading Robinson Crusoe as well. It may be worth going back and rereading the full versions of both though. I'll have to see what the library has when I finish my current book.
  2. Now that summer is finally here, I have a little bit more time on my hands. I am continuing my quest to finish my list of 100 books. In that regard I finally finished A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens a while back. I thought it was a reasonably well written book, although it still wasn't on the same level of Great Expectations. I also just finished Wuthering Heights. It wasn't a bad book although it was rather depressing. At least the last chapter closed on a somewhat happy ending. I'm starting on Jane Eyre now, and hopefully it won't take quite as long as some of the previous books. It's also the last book I have from my parent's house, so I'll need to venture to the local library again to find my next book.
  3. All of these are really good. My favorites are either Rollout or Skully. Roll out is cool because the roller skate jet pack thing is pretty interesting. His color scheme is okay, although I'm not normally a fan of light grey. Skully is impressive as it seems like it is a pretty large MOC. It's reasonably well bulked up which gives it a pretty muscular appearance. The dark red and black with the transgreen highlights looks pretty good as well. The axe that he is hold is also pretty cool. Originally I thought it was a gun, because the angle made it hard to easily tell what was happening at the top. Zatth is probably the weakest one of the group. It's not bad, but there isn't really anything that makes it stand out. I also like VMN. There isn't anything too impressive about the build, but the color scheme is makes it look pretty nice. I like how the oranage and white go together. Very nice Job on all of these. Thanks for sharing.
  4. I think you did a pretty good job with this. The color scheme works well with build even if there isn't much color variety. It projects a sleek and fast feel. The gear box is a nice addition.
  5. I like Wairuha the best. The build looks nice and the shaping is well done. The color scheme isn't too bad either. Akamai is okay but I think it has some issues. The shoulders seem like they're just boxes attached to the torso. It would probably be okay if they weren't as wide, but the current width with increases the effect making it worse. Other than that it looks fine. I'm not sure if I like the purple in it, but I don't if there would be a better place to include it.
  6. I think you did a really good job with this. He looks very formidable and opposing. The spines are a very cool addition. You also a did a very good job with the color scheme. The black and silver are well blended. It also makes the red stand out, which adds a bit of interest to MOC. Overall very nice job. Thanks for sharing.
  7. It is very colorful, but I suppose that is the way that most of these combiners end up. It kind of reminds me of a centaur. It looks pretty nice. My only complaint is that the back between the leg pairs seems to be a little lacking. You have a little bit of stuff there, but there are some pretty big gaps which kind of hurt the effect.
  8. I agree with Dark Blue that the head doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the color scheme. I'm not really sure what you should do with it. I suppose it partly depends on what you have available in your collection. You could also try making a custom head as well. The only other thing I don't like is that the front legs seems a little too thin. The back legs have the two parts that connect to the body so that adds a little bulk to them. I don't think you'd have to add much to the front, just enough to give it a little something extra. Other than that, the rest of it looks pretty good.
  9. I have to agree with that. You did a very good job with this MOC. The color scheme is pretty good with the way you've layered the black, red, and gold. Were there not enough gold pieces to have a gold shoulder pad on the left shoulder? It seems a little weird to only have the one shoulder pad.
  10. It looks pretty good. You did a good with the color scheme and the shaping. The upper body and arms definitely have a very strong bulky feel to them. One thing I don't like is the yellow on the back of the gun. I guess it goes with the yellow inside the gun, but it still seems out of place. In regards to the back pin on the saw, is it only sticking out because you only had a three length pin left to attach the saw with?
  11. I think it looks pretty decent. Like some other's I think it would have been better to include some of Lewa's green pieces, but I guess your reasoning works. It just seems like it's more of an improved Tahu, than a true combiner. That being said, you did a really nice job including the additional pieces from Lewa.
  12. That's a very sleek look bike. You did a really good job. It's cool that you got your inspiration from Treasure Planet as I am also a pretty big fan of that cartoon as well. It was kind of an interesting choice to use those 'claws' as hands. I'm not really sure how I feel about that.
  13. Normally I don't like MOCs that utilize grey for the color scheme, but in this case it works. There's something elegant about how the grey highlights the pure white. It looks really good and I like what you've done with it. I think the only think that seems out of place are the exposed studs on the upper legs but that's not too big of a problem.
  14. This is extremely impressive. The build blends together very well, with both the shaping and the color scheme. My only complaint is that the lower legs seems a little too small, but that's pretty minor. I also shudder a little bit at the mask. My inner purist doesn't really cutting and glue necessary to make it. The final product goes well with the rest of the MOC though so it worked.
  15. I guess the black/silver makes him look too mechanical for Bionicle? I hoped the chest/face would make him look more organic. The arms and maybe the legs definitely seem pretty mechanical. The grapple is really cool, but it also adds to that feel. The head and torso do seems little organic, but it's kind of lost when compared to how mechanical the arms look. I don't really have a problem with it though, since I always thought the Bionicle sets were more mechanical than organic. Overall I like it and I think you did a pretty good job. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I think it's a nice little MOC. It does a good job matching the reference image with the size. Is there a reason the minifigs legs are the way they are? It seems like it would be easy enough to just have the minifig sitting in it like normal.
  17. This is a really cool MOC. The hat is probably the best part. It looks exactly like what you would expect it to and the Mata Bionicle head works perfectly as the skull. The nose was an interesting choice. It definitely makes it seem more cartoony.
  18. I looked up a picture of the Strider, since I've never played Half-Life before. From the picture I found it seems like you did a pretty good job of matching the color scheme and most of the shaping. It seems like the upper part of the legs should be a little bit thinner, but then you might end up with something that would be unstable in the real world. I suppose that might not be a huge concern though, since a lot of the pieces aren't available anyway. I think you did a pretty good job on these. They look pretty impressive.
  19. I've had some success using rubbing alcohol to get that kind of stuff off. For some reason having stickers and stuff on my cases bothers me more than it should.
  20. I like it. There's not much to it, but it's kind of cute. I don't think the short bone pieces being black is a problem. It looks fine the way it is.
  21. All of them are the same, but there is also some much variety between all of them as well. That's an inpressive amount of work that you put into them without creating any repeats. Very nice job.
  22. The shaping is really well done, but it's the eyes and tongue that really give this MOC its character and make it stand out. I don't really mind the exposed studs on the neck. I probably wouldn't have noticed them if Sumiki hadn't mentioned them.
  23. It's called research scientists looking for grants in order to pay the light bill. I'm a bit skeptical, though, on how much of the worm's brain it actually simulates - the only thing it seemed to show was rudimentary collision avoidance. While that may be most of the brainpower the worm needs, it doesn't make for a very interesting bot. They didn't show the other bot features (as mentioned in the write-ups) in the video, so I'm wondering if they made that stuff up or I'm just not paying good attention. It's not exciting simply because of what the robot is doing. Most of the kids who have a LEGO robotics sets can write programs that do the exact same thing. It's interesting because the robots program wasn't written for obstacle avoidance. It was written to duplicate the function of the worm's brain. The obstacle avoidance simply happened. Arguably, if something else happened, like the robot continuing to run its wheels and drive into the wall, this probably wouldn't have been considered such a breakthrough. I think the sound sensor was meant to be the food sensor, but it doesn't really explain that.
  24. I'm pretty sure I've built my stuff at home. I was always concerned that I would lose pieces because I like to dump everything out so I can see all the pieces at once.
  25. My favorites were the original LEGO Arctic, which came out back in the late 90's. I never got any when they out, but I finally bought some of them a few years ago and they're pretty fun. I also like the Aqua Raider although I only have the smaller sets since I didn't have a lot of money at that point. Dino Attack was also pretty fun. My brothers and I purchased the crawler tank together.
