  1. Hi, guys! Recently, I have been studying Bionicle G2. I noticed a lot of things in there that remind me of something else. I know that G2 reminds us of G1, but there are other similarities in my mind. It's not just CCBS, like Hero Factory, but there are others. Here's a list of things that I compared: G1: 1. Most of the Toa's personalities are the same as G1. 2. How the Toa arrived in the island in G2 is very much like in G1, but the Toa crashed landed on the island rather than the ocean. 3. The Protectors and the villagers are like the Turaga and Matoran because they are short and can fight. How the Protectors lead their people reminds me of the Turaga. The people also remind me of Agori because they can reproduce and have parents and kids. 4. Okoto looks sort of like the island of Mata Nui. 5. Master Tahu's mask looks kind of like Tahu Mata's in 2001. 6. Tahu's giant swords are a mix of Lhikan's and 2002 Tahu Nuva's swords. 7. Tahu's armor reminds me of G1 Tahu's Golden Armor in 2010. 8. Master Gali's mask looks like a mix of 2002 Gali Nuva's mask and Takadox's face. 9. Master Lewa's weapons are a mix of Lewa Mata's axe and 2002 Lewa Nuva's swords. 10. Master Kopaka's mask looks very much like Kopaka Mata's. 11. His shield/skis are like Kopaka Mata's and 2002 Kopaka Nuva's shields and ski. 12. Master Pohatu's mask looks a little like Pohatu Mata's mask. 13. Master Onua's mask looks sort of like Onua Mata's mask. 14. Onua's shovels remind me of Onua Mata's claws. 15. Onua's silver shoulder armor reminds me of 2002 Onua Nuva's. 16. Ekimu and his Mask of Creation remind me of Artakha. 17. How Ekimu has a brother named Makuta and was put into endless sleep remind me of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. 18. Makuta reminds me of Makuta Teridax from G1 because he's Makuta, he is jealous of his brother and turned evil, and his armor turned red and black when wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power. 19. The Toa's quest for the Golden Masks of Powers is pretty much like the G1 Toa's quests for the Kanohi masks and getting the Golden Knaohi masks before doing a final showdown with Makuta's minions. 20. The Mask Makers remind me of the Mask Makers in G1. 21. The Skull Spiders remind me of the Visorak because they're evil spiders that threaten people. 22. The Golden Mask of Skull Spiders reminds me of the Heart of the Visorak from G1 because it can command the spiders. 23. Skull Slicer reminds me of Nocturn because he is a lieutenant with a green color, four arms and has at least two swords. 24. The Arena in the City of the Mask Makers reminds me of the Coliseum in the Legends of Metru Nui movie. 25. When Kopaka called Lewa "the Master of Air", reminds me of G1 Lewa, who is the Toa of Air. 26. The online episode's title "Beware the stringer tails" reminds me of a Vorox's non-canon quote, "Beware my stringer tail!" from the Bionicle website in 2009. 27. Another episode's title, "Unity, Duty, Destiny", reminds me of the Three Virtues from G1. 28. How Kulta hit all six Toa after putting the Mask of Creation on his face reminds me of Brutaka because of defeating six Toa with one swing of his big multi-bladed weapons, wearing a gold mask, and being a big and bad guy. 29. The Toa Uniters are like a mix of 2002 and 2008 Toa Nuva because they wear new armor, have new weapons and Nuva symbols, and can combine with smaller beings to get more power. 30. Uxar reminds me of the Nui-Rama and Nui-Kopen from G1 because of how they look like insects with wings. 31. How Pohatu gets attacked by scorpions in the beginning of G2 reminds me of how he got attacked by a Nui-Jaja in the Mata Nui Online Game. 32. Melum's name reminds me of Malum. Both of them even have two claws on each hand. 33. How Umarak is sent by Makuta reminds me of how Makuta Teridax sends Nidhiki and Krekka in the Legends of Metru Nui movie because both involve Makuta hiring hunters and are animated. 34. Umarak's mask's powers reminds me of G1's Mask of Shadows. 35. The Mask of Control reminds me of G1's Mask of Mind Control. Something else: 1. The reboot is like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series because it started out fresh and reused the same beginning in a different way. It was meant for a younger audience of this generation. Along the reboot, it has more humor than the original and is modernized. 2. How the 2015 line started with evil skeletons reminds me of how Ninjago started that similar way. 3. The animation in the 2015 Online Animations look like a mix of Mucha Lucha TV show, a TV show called Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesome-ness' 2D-animated scenes, and Teen Titan Go TV show in 2013. 4. How the Toa are more detailed and modernized than their Toa Mata counterparts reminds me of the Transformers movie and recent Transformers TV shows. 5. Master Lewa's mask looks a lot like Preston Stromer's helmet from Hero Factory. 6. Master Pohatu's boomerangs remind me of the Green Goblin's or Hobgoblin's gliders from Marvel because they can fly when he is stepping on and riding them. 7. How Pohatu creates sand tornadoes reminds me of Spinjitzu from Ninjago and the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. 8. In the 2015 Online Animations, Pohatu sounds like Batman because of his shrill and serious voice. Pohatu even uses boomerangs like Batman, too. 9. Master Onua is like a mix of Hulk and Thor from Marvel because he has a bulky body and uses a hammer respectively. 10. Onua also reminds me of CHI Gorzan constraction figure from Legends of Chima. 11. The Lord of Skull Spiders reminds me of the giant spiders in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. 12. How the Toa use "Unity" as a keyword to their triumph over evil reminds me of the Avengers using the keyword "assemble" to their triumph over evil (Both superhero teams were the main teams of heroes in the same year, 2015, too). 13. Kulta's name reminds me of the Anacondrai Cultists from Ninjago and Ultron from the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie in 2015 (Plus, Kulta and Ultron are the main robotic villains who have large robotic armies in the same year, 2015. Also, Kulta and the Cultists are in that same year.). 14. How the Skull Warriors made lousy shots on the Toa Masters reminds me of Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Lol. 15. The Skull Scorpio's name reminds me of Scorpio from Hero Factory. 16. Skull Basher kind of reminds me of Pyrox from Hero Factory because of his horns and the fact that he is a Minotaur. 17. In the 2015 Online Animations, Kulta's mask reminds me of Zurg from Toy Story because of how his chin is enlarged as opposed to his set form. 18. How he laughed in his character video sounds sort of like Darth Vader. 19. When he wore the Mask of Creation and hit six Toa in one swing, these remind me of Sauron in the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring movie when Sauron is an evil villains who wears a helmet with many horns and hits many warriors with one swing of his weapon. 20. The Mask of Creation looks like Vultraz's mask or Breez's helmet from Hero Factory with a crown on it. 21. The 3D animation in The Journey to One reminds me of Transformers: Robots in Disguise TV show in 2015. The 2D parts that involve water and lava reminds me of the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra TV shows. 22. How Umarak the Hunter transformed into the monstrous Destroyer reminds me of Kraven the Hunter's transform into monsters in the Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man TV shows where Kraven turns into a clawed monster who is bigger and tougher. 23. The Elemental Beasts' faces remind me of Aquagon from Hero Factory. 24. Quake Beast reminds me of Bruizer from Hero Factory because of his abnormally large and weird-looking spiked arm with a function in his set. 25. The Umarak combiner with him and the Elemental Beasts kind of reminds me of Doomsday from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie or DC Comics in general because it seems that Umarak the Destroyer gets spiky-er and stronger. Perhaps call Umarak "Doomarak" or "Umarak the Doom-bringer". Lol. 26. In Umarak the Destroyer's character video yesterday, how Umarak and the Beasts are animated also reminds me of Doomsday because they have spikes on their bodies when the spikes aren't in their set forms. When Umarak glows in the beginning of the video, this also reminds of Doomsday doing that in the BvS movie. Also, at the end of the episode where Makuta turns Umarak the Hunter into the Destroyer, Umarak's shadow is smooth like his set form, but in the character video, he has the spikes, which reminds me of Doomsday in the BvS movie again. Seems pretty evident that Umarak gets spiky-er and stronger. 27. Also in the video, Umarak is holding a glowing purple and black object and seems to be controlling a purple blob-like thing. He seems to be creating a portal that way. Perhaps the glowing object is equivalent to the Realm Crystal from Ninjago? The summer Netflix TV episodes aren't out yet, but I have a theory about how would the last one going to end: When almost all hope is lost when Umarak the Destroyer is proved very difficult to defeat when he reaches to his Beast-Umarak combiner form (I would imagine he would have the power to absorb Lava Beast's, Storm Beast's, and Quake Beast's powers to become this, similar to Kevin 11 and Aggregor from the Ben 10 TV shows) to become more powerful. When Pohatu feels regretful that because of himself, Umarak is unstoppable and can't be defeated by the combined might of the Toa Uniters, the Elemental Creatures, and Ekimu when he wears the Mask of Control. Pohatu is going to rush into action by Uniting with Ketar. He goes to defeat Umarak alone by removing the Mask of Control off from him as a way to make up for his mistake in the episode where he let Umarak take the Mask of Control. Pohatu jumps on top of Umarak and stabs him on the chest with his spear with a very great force, so he can get the Mask without being interfered while Umarak is in a very great pain. However, before Umarak could lost the Mask and die from the stabbing, Umarak stabs Pohatu with his claws while Pohatu successfully pulled the Mask out of his face, saving the day (It's like a mix of how Superman's battle with Doomsday ended and how the Lizard stabbed a police officer with his claws in the end of the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012). After Pohatu removed the Mask, Umarak throws him off a cliff before changing back to his Hunter form and die from his wounds. Pohatu is too wounded and too weakened, so he couldn't save himself from falling 80 feet to his death on the ground. He has Ketar on his back, so Pohatu puts him in front of him while his back is heading to the ground because Pohatu knew that Okoto needs Ketar, so Pohatu is going to sacrifice himself to break Ketar's fall. Tahu and Lewa goes to save him. As Lewa throws a vine to catch Pohatu, it was too late to save him because Pohatu hit the ground very hard on his back just as the vine grabbed him while Ketar survived and is saved by the Toa. When the Toa and Ekimu check to see if Pohatu is okay, they discovered that he's dead due to his impact on the ground from his very high fall. They then feel extremely sad about it (It's like a mix of Matoro's sacrifice in G1 and how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie in 2012 ended, when Spider-Man failed to save a girl, who is played by Emma Stone, whose last name is the same as Pohatu's element.) I said this because Bionicle seems to have its ideas inspired by many things. I know that any of this would be doubtable that it would happen when the episodes come out, but it was extremely sad and a new twist that we never seen before if it would really happen. So, what are your thoughts? See any other similarities?
  2. In the old legends of Okoto, we hear that Makuta broke a sacred law when he forged a mask with the power of all six elements. We also know that the Toa and Protector masks are all powered by a single element. So what does this mean for other masks? Is every mask related to an element that fuels its abilities? For example, does the power of Ice let the trans-blue Mask of Creation, well, create? Does the Stone element give the trans-neon green Mask of Control its power? Or are the rest of the masks forged without the power of an element? Thoughts? Other theories?
  3. So now that it's relevance to the story has ended, do we have an inkling of why the Labyrinth of Control was created? We know ancient Okotoan's built it for a reason, you don't build giant shifting mazes without a good reason. We also know you need to unite with an elemental creature to get into the central chamber, I assume that's a feature it always had because I don't see the elemental creatures as able to modify magitech like that. One reason it was built could be because of a vision from the mask of time, but I feel like someone else could come up with a better theory. Hence I made this topic.
  4. The Toa have fallen. Kulta, the Skull Grinder has defeated them as well as the re-awoken Ekimu, whom he spared as final insult. After a short period of uneasy peace, the ravenous Skull Army spilled out of the City of The Mask Makers, driven by a hunger for conquest. As the undead hordes encroach upon the regions of Okoto, the villagers must face something even worse than any Skull minion. At the head of each army rides a corrupted Toa, brought back from the dead by the powers of the Mask of Creation. It should have been a time of Unity. Instead, it is a time of Despair. Pohatu, Revenant of Stone Leading the army of Skull Scoripos, Pohatu has ravaged the region of stone. Not ever death could erase his dislike of the creatures, which is why he lets them prowl and ravage at their behest while he hunts alone. Kulta instructed him and the other Revenants to find - and kill - the elemental creatures of their Regions, as they might prove to be a threat. Upon finding Ketar, Pohatu tricked the creature into thinking he is still a genuine Toa - a power all Revenants posses. When the creature was unawares, Pohatu acted and began to dismember Ketar, while the little scorpion was still alive. After destroying the Golden Unity Mask of Stone, he returned from the temple with parts of Ketar's carapace grafted into his armor, onto his very bones. It was upon that day that the Skull Scorpios truly accepted their leader, their Alpha. In his Revenant form, Pohatu wields twin Meat Cleavers, Corrupted Stormerangs and his original Dagger. Of all the Revenants, his hatred burns with the greatest ferocity. Who could stand before him? Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskBiGAQ9 Nilkuu, Guardian of Stone Kulta may have defeated Ekimu, however even so he underestimated the Mask Maker. Before fleeing the City, he managed to salvage pieces of advanced elemental armor he began forging for the Toa of the prophecies before Makuta's betrayal. Before the Skull Armies reached any of the villages, he called upon the six protectors to meet him at the temple of time. Here, he performed and ancient - and forbidden - ritual of self-sacrifice, where his life-force was used to grant the protectors powers that almost equalled that of the Toa. With their new forms and armor, the Guardians had a chance - albeit slim - of stemming the tide of war. The transformation into Guardians tapped into the emotions of each Protector. While the main Stone village was not attacked yet, Revenant Pohatu had made the most progress of all the Skull invaders, and Ketar has already been killed. Primal rage heaved within Nilkuu, which is why his transformation has left him looking more like a beast than a Toa. With armor that resembles the carapace of a scorpion and clawed feet, the Stone villagers were at first unsure as to greet him or flee. However, Nilkuu's great love of his people and home remained, and were augmented as much as his rage. Nilkuu, with his advanced Elemental Sandstone Blaster and new Mountain Glaive will stop at nothing to eradicate every Skull Scorpio in the region of stone - and to give Revenant Pohatu the same treatment that Ketar had to endure before his death. Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskBiGtVs ... These models once again only use elements from 2015 Pohatu, Protector of Stone, 2015 Lewa, 2016 Pohatu, Ketar- Creature of Stone and Skull Scorpio. The main attraction here is Nilkuu, seeing as Pohatu is mostly just different armor plus that chain across his back, while Nilkuu has more custom stuff. Nilkuu's six-shooter is functional. Both of his gear-functions work. The glaive weapon can be stored on his back, however the blaster cannot. Pohatu's gear function works, and his weapon-sets can be stored on the chain on his back. 5. Hi, guys! Ever love combiners? Well, let's talk about them. You ever thought of new combiners from the Bionicle sets that you love? I know we can combine them, but do you wish that Lego could've published more new combiners? Here's my examples to see what I mean: G1: 1. The Toa Mata Nui (all six Toa) 2. The Toa Nuva Nui 3. Ekimu

Ekimu, Lava Beast, and Storm Beast arrived in the mail today. Ekimu's Magical Growth Spurt is a pretty good set. He finally got rid of that impractical hammer-gun and replaced it with a hammer, in addition to mounting his shield to his forearm so he can wield his hammer two-handed if he so wishes. Hammer is a pretty creative and clever arrangement of pieces that creates a shape one mold probably wouldn't be able to replicate. Also, the transparent blue is excellent him. He's like the Toa, but also a bit different, probably because he uses both gear functions and is mostly transparent. Also, the Umarak mask is pretty cool looking although it's puzzling why it appears in the set. Lava Beast, well, visually, IMO, Lava Beast is the least cluttered-looking of the monsters - no immediately obvious function parts and no ball joints or cups that don't do anything. Biggest downside is the lower legs, which really could've been done better if they were done more like Storm Beast's lower legs, which look significantly better. The blades on the arms also have gears to them which give them quite a bit of friction when the ones that swivel, well, swivel. Also, the new armour piece works the best on Lava Beast, IMO. Storm Beast is more about the function than the look, although the function's parts don't really stand out that much, fortunately. Storm Beast also has significantly better lower legs than Lava Beast. Storm Beast's function is a good idea in concept, however it's not as good as people thought it would be - it causes the arms and tail to flop around a lot, and they won't stay in place if raised, not to mention it doesn't work 100% perfectly - when you pull the tail down, for instance, there is a good chance one arm will be slightly lower than the other. Also, the colours are pretty decent and probably the most eye-catching blend of the beasts. Transparent lime, dark blue (let's just call it that because calling it metru blue is outdated nonsense), and transparent blue go together quite well. However, the jaws of the beasts are pretty bad. They're more or less fixed in place unless you want to pop the mask of, which you probably don't because few masks fit the beast's heads with the jaw attachments. Not to mention that you can already see the lower jaw of the transparent lime head - so it looks there's this weird, out-of-place gunmetal thing attached to the sides of their heads. It puzzles me why LEGO didn't repurpose the 'masks-pop-off' function of pressing down on the eyestalks to open and close the jaws, as there was a perfect opportunity for it. Ekimu > Lava Beast > Storm Beast

    Odd

On the UK S@H, Lava Beast, Storm Beast, and Ekimu are available, but Umarak the Destroyer and Quake Beast are not. Don't really see a reason as to why they would be unavailable while the other three 2016 summer wave sets are released...
  8. Something that I started to wonder about:the Okotan villagers are divided by tribe, but seem to all be part of the same species and can make new villagers. So what would happen if,say,a jungle villager married an earth villager?Where would they live? What would their kids be like?Would this be culturally acceptable? Another thing I wondered about, are the Okotans dependent on their masks to stay out of a coma like the toa?If so,how soon after birth are they given baby masks? Discus.
  9. After Makuta dragged Kulta back from the dead to serve as his envoy, the Skull Grinder began using the Mask of Creation to raise an undead army. However, he was initially untrained in the use of the mask, and his first creations weren't as successful as the latter additions to the Skull army. At first, all Kulta wanted was raw power - and thus the Skull Choppers were born. These massive beings were fused from the bodyparts of multiple corpses. While one of their hands was barely noticeable, small and weak, their other was an overgrown abomination of power and muscle. The Choppers were fueled by infinite rage, so much so that they would attack anything that moved - even other members of the Skull army. Kulta himself had difficulty overcoming a Chopper, so he decided to abandon his first creations. A handful of Skull Warriors were used to lure the few Choppers who were in existence into a outskirt district of the City of the Mask Makers, which was then sealed. The Choppers then proceeded to hunt down the warriors, and prowled the district, fighting one another. Had the Toa and Ekimu not defeated Kulta, the Choppers would have eventually broken out. Without Kulta to maintain control, the corpses collapsed back into the dust. The Toa were lucky not to wander into the sealed off district - or their tale would have been a much shorter one. This model was more of an experiment than anything else. I tried to make the large arm as non-gappy as possible while still making it look "good". It retains some mobility, such as at the wrist, and the elbow bends. However, the shoulder is more or less fixed, though limited motion can be achieved. The arm-swinging function works thanks to the friction method seen in 2016 Ekimu. The biggest challenge was coming up with a foot-design that could be made with the limited parts I had access to, which supported Chopper enough for him to pull off multiple poses without needing external support, and didn't look horrible. I tried to justify the use of hands and toa-feet on his feet with him being a fusion of multiple corpses, but oh well. I wanted to make his axe larger, but that was simply too much weight. The model was somewhat inspired by the elite mutant psychos from Borderlands. Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskB2k4dP This model was made using pieces from 2015 Pohatu, 2015 Lewa, Nilkuu Protector of Stone, Ketar Creature of Stone, 2016 Pohatu and Skull Scorpio. 10. I always found it strange that no Okotoan villager corpses rose from the dead in the city of the mask makers, so I decided to rectify that. While intelligence never was a characteristic of the Skull army, their members were more or less coordinated and had some grasp of tactics. Not the Skull Flayers, however. Erratic and completely unpredictable, the Flayers made up for their small, frail stature with lightning speed and a ferocity that would make even a Skull Scorpio tremble in fear - provided they even feel fear, that is. This is a small, not too elaborate or ornate build, but then it isn't supposed to be. I tried to replicate the asymmetrical armor design seen on Skull Warrior and Skull Slicer. I half built this for the reason of testing out how those weapons in that config actually look like on a model. I also tried to replicate the shape of the protector mask with the black horns sticking out backwards. The back-armor is supposed to give Flayer a hunched back. The butt-gear serves no purpose other than aesthetic. album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskAt7jR6 The photos were once again shot by my wife.
  11. This topic is somewhat inspired by the one about what G1 would have been like if the story never left the island of Mata-Nui. So in G1, the first three years, despite being about Biomechanical beings which, let's face it, almost every young 'un incessantly called robots, was more of a fantasy affair than sci-fi. You had a tropical village, primarily melee weapons based on medieval technology, a tribal society, mysticism and ancient artifacts. Yes yes, you can have all that in a sci-fi story as well. I'd like this topic not to debate the range and definition of the terms sci-fi and fantasy, so let's stick to the very basic definition of sci-fi = technology and futuristic stuff/ fantasy = mystical/old-tech stuff. Anyhow, G1 took a decidedly Sci-Fi turn in 2004 and never really ditched it until 2009 with the more... "primitive" Bara Magna setting. Metru-Nui introduced all kinds of cool technology in '04 and '05, the highly industrialized depiction of Voya Nui in '06 and freaking semi-auto ranged weaponry also is a bit more on the Sci-Fi side, '07 had high-tech submarines and do I need to even speak of '08? So seeing as there is a pretty good chance G2 isn't going away in 2017, let's, for the sake of discussion assume it sticks around for at least as long as G1. Now, so far G2 has opted for the more fantasy-oriented theme of the early years of G1. However, what if it stays here? What if G2 never makes the switch to sci-fi? Would you be interested in seeing a longer saga with a more low-tech fantasy atmosphere to it? We know there is an airship that Ekimu uses, but that can still err on the side fantasy with some stretch. Now, it would certainly make travel between the other islands easier. While we don't know how large the planet is, it is safe to assume that with that level of tech (let's assume the "elemental blasters" are like magic and stuff), traveling to another continent by boat would be a lengthy affair. Either way, I'd love to see G2 evolve into having a larger scale story spanning various islands that were mostly isolated up until then, and the contact between them leads to tension/war. In the meantime some over-reaching enemy is gathering which threatens all islands, and the goal of the Toa is to create a stable alliance between them to face the coming attack. We could see a diverse range of cultures and set designs, with a wide range of non-Okotoan species. Would you prefer if G2 took a similar sci-fi turn as G1, or do you like the low-tech tribal atmosphere of early G1 and current G2?
  12. How would you rank the Uniters and the Masters overall, from 1-12? Who are better as Uniters, and who are better as Masters? If you had to create one legendary mask, what would it be a mask of?
  13. Hello there! This is the review thread for The Prophecy of The Six. Feel free to discuss the story and give feedback!
  14. Hi, guys! I know that 2015 is over, but there is this one question I have in mind: What happened to the Skull Creatures after they are defeated. Here are some things that I noticed: 1. Skull Spiders - There are like hundreds of them. Many of them have been defeated by being unconscious and destroyed. What about all of them? I mean, the remaining ones that are still alive. 2. Lord of Skull Spiders - Probably killed. 3. Skull Warriors - Many of them got their butts kicked and looked unconscious. Again, any remaining ones that are alive? 4. Skull Slicer - I heard he fell out from the City of the Mask Makers. What happened to him after that? Is he hiding to plan his revenge on the Toa for humiliate him in Hammer Flush? 5. Skull Scorpios - Two of them having been crushed by two giant stones. What about the remaining ones? 6. Skull Basher - He got his butt kicked really hard. In a chapter book called Island of the Lost Masks, he was called "lifeless" when it happened, but in Revenge of the Skull Spiders, he was sent to prison, so is he dead or alive? 7. Kulta the Skull Grinder - Same as Skull Basher. So there, that's what we last see and heard of them. There are some bodies laying on the ground in the city. We know that Makuta could control Kulta and the Lord of Skull Spiders (and perhaps the spiders), who can also control their fellow Skull Creatures, but if Kulta and the Lord are disposed of, what would happen to their minions. Do they fall down unconscious, like a machine being turned off it or having batteries taken out, or are we still active and have full control of themselves? I know that they are undead, but we don't know how are they created or their origins. Any thoughts or theories, guys?

    Akida

Acquired Akida. I have to wonder: why does a fish need dual gatling guns? The orange + light blue combo is nice. Not so sure on the transparent light blue and transparent dark blue combo, though. Think Akida could've done with more transparent dark blue parts, Akida's probably the least function-based of the creatures, the function is hardly a function on Akida alone. It's more there to turn the gatling guns and fins. Akida's a fish I guess. Eh. Well, at least it isn't a bit of a mess like Ketar is. Akida's... nothing special compared to Uxar or Ikir.
  16. Greetings. This is but the first tale in the saga of six heroes whom you all know very well. I, FrozenPancake_, proudly present..... Book I: The Prophecy Of The Six Prologue: The Prophecy When times are dark and all hope seems lost The guardians united must Invoke the power of past and future and look to the skies for an answer When the stars align, the Six shall arrive United, theirs is the power to vanquish darkness And reclaim what has been lost Together, they are six heroes with one destiny. LINKS: [REVIEW THREAD: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/21827-the-prophecy-of-the-six-book-i-in-the-rebooted-timeline-review-thread/] Chapters will be added regularly, starting with the first six, then two or three each week. (Also, there are lots of POV switches, so a lot of events are implied to have happened, because they happened while another part of the story was being covered.) Chapter I A red-armored figure lay on the black sand. He opened his eyes, which were glowing blue slits. His hands went to his face, searching for something. The being realized that he was missing something important. My mask, he thought. Where is it? Slowly, he got to his feet and looked around. He spotted a red gleam in a small dune. There it is. He walked over to it and put the mask on. It had angular eyes, a pronounced chin, and vents along the cheeks-- All the features of a Kanohi Hau, or Mask of Shielding. Much better. Close by, he came across a pile of weapons. They consisted of two small golden katana-like swords, and two large silver-- What the--, The red being thought. What the Karzahni am I supposed to do with these things? He picked one up. “Useless metal,” he scoffed. He had spoken too soon, for the blade was suddenly glowing, ablaze with fire! Maybe not. Storing the golden swords on his back, he carried the large blades in his hands. Suddenly, another being wearing a brown cloak walked towards him. The red being readied his blades. “Lower your weapons, Master of Fire,” the cloaked one said. “We have been expecting you.” Chapter II “Master of Fire? Expecting me? I don’t even know where I am, or who I am. Why am I suddenly so important?” The red being was fuming, smoke coming through the vents on his mask. “Calm yourself,” the cloaked one replied. “The knowing will come.” “The knowing will come?!? Just get to the point and quit speaking in riddles,” the red one growled. “Follow me to Ta-Koto, and I will explain everything,” the cloaked being said. He removed his hood, revealing a sleek red mask, which only covered half of his face. “I am Tarahkai Narmoto . And you are Tahu, Toa of Fire.” “Take me to Ta-Koto.” Tahu motioned for Narmoto to lead. The pair walked along the banks of a molten lava river. “Where are we?” Tahu asked. “Ta-Wahi,” Narmoto replied. A glimpse of a memory flashed in Tahu’s conscience, then it was gone. “I knew that. What I meant is--” “The island is called Okoto,” Narmoto said, as if reading his mind. “Why am I here, Narmoto?” Tahu heard hissing and clicking sounds coming from behind. He spun around to see a swarm of spider-like creatures advancing on them, each about the size of an Agori’s body. “I’ll handle this.” As the spiders leapt towards him, he sliced them all in half in one clean blow. Their fragmented bodies crumpled to the blackened ground. “That’s why I’m here?” Tahu asked incredulously. “To squash a few BUGS? Can’t you and the Agori defeat these things on your own?” “Looks can be deceiving, Tahu,” Narmoto replied. “Alone, they are but large pests. But together, they are truly a force to be reckoned with. They are known to us as Ragnok, or Skull Spiders. They like to attack by swarming a victim to the point that they are pinned down and helpless, then one will pry off their Kanohi and--” Narmoto shuddered. “And what?” Tahu grumbled impatiently. “They will latch onto your face and control your mind. They can even reanimate the dead.” Narmoto whispered the last three words. Another memory surfaced in Tahu’s mind. He was in what looked like a village. Agori were running, screaming. He saw armored, sphere-like monsters attacking it. One shot a jet of flame at a hut, setting it ablaze. Tahu also saw a group of Agori whose masks were replaced by organic-looking ones. They all said, “Clean it all, it must be cleaned.” Then they started shuffling toward him like zombies. An Agori shouted, “Tahu! Wake up!” Tahu opened his eyes, gasping. “What happened to you? You passed out when I told you about the Ragnok. And I wasn’t done yet.” “I had a vision.” “What did you see?” Tahu described the nightmarish scene. “Hmm. Sounds like an old legend of ours.” Narmoto said, stroking his chin. “Ta-Koto is just ahead.” Chapter III Later, Tahu and the Tarahkai met in Narmoto’s hut. It had quite the view, for it overlooked an enormous lake of lava. Several Agori were swimming in it. Tahu was perplexed at this, and he cocked his head to one side. “How are they--” “They have a natural resistance to heat,” Narmoto replied. “Yours, of course, is even stronger. In the legends, it was said that you surfed in active volcanoes.” Tahu ran a metallic finger across his armor, which was glowing red-hot. “So, what must I do to vanquish the evil that plagues this land?” he asked, eyes narrowed. “The answer lies in one of our many legends-- the legend of the Great Cataclysm,” Narmoto began... “Long ago, we Agori lived in peace and harmony. We lived in the great city of Koto-Nui, ruled by our two kings, the Mask Makers. Their names were Ekimu and Makuta. They were close friends; in fact, one could call them brothers. The two made many masks for the people of this island. But the Kanohi that the Mask Makers wore were very powerful. Ekimu wore the Kanohi Hanga, the Legendary Mask of Creation. It could create anything, as long as the user had the materials. Makuta wore the Kanohi Regna, the Legendary Mask of Control. This mask could control anything, be it living or inanimate. Makuta saved us time and again from many evils with its great power. But this was not to last. As time wore on, jealousy and bitterness poisoned Makuta’s mind. After all, he could only control things. But this wasn’t enough for him. Makuta wanted more. However, Ekimu sensed this, and forged six Golden Kanohi and six Kanohi Stones for each. The Golden Kanohi, one for each element, were hidden away in shrines. The shrines could only be opened if a being collected six Kanohi Stones of the corresponding element. The stones were scattered across the island by the Tarahkai before me, so that no good or evil could unlock the shrines. Not easily, anyway.” “Makuta decided it was time to proceed with his twisted plan-- to forge the most powerful Kanohi ever-- the Kanohi Destrox, the Mask of Destruction. Intending to destroy Okoto and rebuild it in his own image, Makuta donned the mask. The island began to crack apart! Realizing what Makuta had done, Ekimu confronted him and knocked the mask from his face, resulting in an explosion of pure energy. Ekimu used his mask to repair the island, but the amount of energy was too much, even for him. He fell into a coma, and those before me laid him to rest. However, all was not well-- far from it. Koto-Nui was in ruins. Even worse, Makuta’s spirit caused us a living nightmare: Ragnok-Kal, the Empress of Skull Spiders, and her army. Some people say that they have seen undead warriors there, possibly under Ragnok-Kal’s control. We fled from the city, breaking into groups based on our elements. This shattered our unity, but it gave us duty-- To summon the Toa. That was 1,000 years ago, before my time. Now you must begin your journey, and fulfill your destiny.” “So, when do we start?” Tahu asked. Narmoto sighed. “Not we. You.” Narmoto pointed at him. “Finding the Kanohi Stones is a test for you and you alone. They could be anywhere on the island. Good luck, and return immediately when you have the Stones, for guiding you to the shrine is my task.” “Alright then. I shall set out on my own. Thank you for your guidance, Narmoto.” Tahu smiled under his mask, and he left the hut, descending down a flight of stairs to the scorched earth below. Chapter IV Lewa Lewa grabbed a vine and examined it, looking for weak spots. “This cling-twiner should do,” he said to himself. He tugged on it, and it held. “Woohoo!” Lewa swung from the vine and landed on top of another tree. “That was awesome! But happyfun comes later. First, I have to search-find those Kanohi Stones. Say, Vizuna told me that there was one right--” Suddenly, a figure wearing blue and gunmetal-gray armor came into view. She held up a piece of green crystal. “Here?” she finished. “Who might you be?” Lewa asked. “Gali, Toa of Water. You might want this?” She threw the stone to Lewa. He caught it, storing it in a bag slung across his back. “Thanks for the help-assist, watersister. Name’s Lewa. Now I’ll be on my--” “Don’t you think we should team up, and find the Kanohi Stones together?” Gali asked. “Our unity would make us stronger.” “Sounds finegood to me,” Lewa replied. He turned around and leapt from the tree. “How many stones have you collectfound?” Lewa asked. “I found two of mine here,” Gali replied, holding up a pair of blue crystals. “And you?” “Only one, not counting five seconds ago,” Lewa sighed. “I enjoylike the jungle and all, but it’s hard to find anything in here.” He made a sweeping gesture toward some trees, which were tangled in thick vines. “Good thing that they’re scatterspread all over this island,” he said dryly. Gali laughed. “I wouldn’t be laughing at that!” Lewa shouted, pointing forward. A young Agori from the Jungle tribe was running for his life, gasping for breath. He came screeching to a halt in front of them, panting like a tired Okotian Wolf. Lewa rushed forward. “What is it, little one?” he asked. “Skull… Spiders…. village….gone. Destroyed,” the Agori replied. “That’s terrible!” Gali cried, taken aback. “I’m sorrysad to hear that,” Lewa added, dropping to one knee. “What’s your name, little one?” “B-b-b-Bingzak,” the Agori stuttered. “A-are you w-working for M-m-Makuta?” The Agori was trembling, wracked with fear. “No,” Gali replied. “We’re Toa-heroes!” Lewa exclaimed. “I’m Lewa, and the water-maiden here is Gali. We won’t hurtharm you.” “You’re Toa? Wow…” Bingzak’s jaw dropped in awe. “Yes.” Gali nodded. “We should be getting you back to your par--” Tears streamed down Bingzak’s face, and he began to sob uncontrollably. “Oh. I-- I’m so sorry… I didn’t know…” Gali knelt and embraced him. She stroked his head. “It’s okay. You’ll be fine.” “T-thanks, Toa Gali,” Bingzak replied. “Want to see the pretty rock that I found?” “Sure.” Bingzak fished out something from his bag. Lo and behold, it was a Kanohi Stone! “That’s no ordinary ‘pretty rock’ you’ve got there, little one,” Lewa said. “It’s something called a Kanohi Stone,” Gali explained. “Each Toa needs six of them to open the shrines of the golden masks. Only then, can we hope to stop the Skull Spiders…” “And whatever else this island needs saving from,” Lewa finished. “So, I don’t get to keep my pretty rock?” “I’m afraid not,” Gali replied. “Okay,” Bingzak complied, handing the green stone to Lewa. “Do you have to leave now?” “Actually, you can quickcome with us,” Lewa offered. “Lewa, it’s too dangerous!” Gali reproached. “Can’t you see that he’s just a child?” “You’d be rightcorrect on both counts. But we can’t just leave him on his own, you know.” “All right,” Gali conceded. “He can come with.” “YIPPEE!” Bingzak cheered. “I get to go on an adventure with two Toa! And I’ll crush those Skull Spiders and avenge my parents.” “That is noble of you, young one, but don’t do anything rash,” Gali warned. “Aw, loosen up, Gali! You’re supposed to go with the flow, being a Toa of Water and all,” Lewa cajoled. Gali rolled her optics. “I just wish you didn’t take things so lightly, that’s all.” “Alright Bingzak. Ready for an adventure?” Lewa asked. “Yeah!” Bingzak exclaimed. “Hop on my back.” With that, the two Toa set off to continue their quest…. and hopefully keep their Agori companion out of trouble. Kopaka Kopaka was trudging through the Ko-Wahi drifts, searching for a Kanohi Stone.. Where could it be? he thought. Better activate my Akaku. Kopaka mask began to glow, granting him the power of X-Ray vision. He saw a glint of ice-blue in a nearby cave. There it is. Kopaka almost smiled. He walked toward the cave, and he was just about to claim the stone when he was hit by a sudden gust of wind. Even for a Toa of Ice who was used to blizzards, the wind was overpowering! Arms flailing, Kopaka tried to keep his balance, but to no avail. He fell mask-first into the snow. “OOF!” he grunted, the sound muffled by the snow. Stupid wind. Kopaka was just about to get up when he heard a voice. “You okay there, mate?” Kopaka sat up. The voice belonged to a figure clad in burnt-orange and silver armor. He wore a pair of what looked like snowshoes, and his mask was sleek and streamlined, with air intakes on either side. And strangest of all, his left arm appeared to be completely mechanical. ‘I’m fine,” Kopaka replied. “You sure you don’t need a hand?” the figure asked. “I said I’m fine,” he replied icily, standing up and dusting the snow from his armor. “Want some help looking for your Kanohi Stones?” the figure asked. “It’ll be a loooot faster. Besides, I know speed better than anyone. I wear a Kakama, after all.” “Look, I don’t need your help. Or want it, for that matter.” Kopaka walked away. He’ll just get in the way. Just when he thought he had lost him, he saw an orange blur zip toward him. “Ekimu’s masks! What do you want?” Kopaka asked, irritated by this being’s persistence. “I work alone. I don’t--” “Nope!” the orange-clad being replied. “I’m coming with you, no matter what you say. I’m Pohatu, by the way. Get used to it.” Kopaka sighed in resignation. “Fine, you can come with.” Onua Dig, pull, scrape, push. Dig, pull, scrape, push. Onua was clawing his way through solid rock in the Onu-Wahi tunnels, searching for his Kanohi Stones. His connection to the earth was advantageous, as he could easily sense where the crystals might be. Besides, he already had four out of six of his. Now where could the rest be? Wait, I sense one of them is….moving? His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a voice. “Would you happen to be looking for these?” Onua turned around. The voice belonged to a figure clad in red and gold armor. He held not one, but TWO glowing purple stones. “Why, yes,” Onua replied. “My name is Onua. I’m assuming you are Tahu, Toa of Fire?” “That would be me,” Tahu replied. “You might need these.” He handed the stones to Onua. “Thanks to you, I have all of my Kanohi Stones. Korgot will be expecting me, so I’ll be on my way,” said Onua. “No problem,” Tahu replied. “But maybe we should work together and find the rest of mine?” “Sure thing. I think I saw a couple of them further back in the tunnels.” Chapter V The Toa, whose paths collided on their quest to find the Kanohi Stones, keys to the elemental shrines, had completed their first test. But their journey was not over. Far from it. Many a challenge lay ahead…. Tahu Tahu strode up the stairs to Narmoto’s hut. He knocked on the door. “Come in!” a voice answered. “Do you have the stones?” Narmoto asked. Tahu’s eyes narrowed. “Did you really think I’d come back without them?” he growled, mask smoldering. The Toa dropped his bag on Narmoto’s desk, which was an elegant table carved from what appeared to be obsidian. Narmoto examined the contents carefully. “Excellent!” he exclaimed. “All six of your stones are present.” Tahu grew impatient. “Now are we going to that shrine or what?” he grumbled. “Of course,” Narmoto replied. “Why would we waste our time in retrieving that mask?” With that, they set off, to Okoto’s most active volcano…. Onua Wheeeeeerrrrm…… ChkchkchkchkchkCRACK! Korgot’s drill cut through the solid rock that blocked their path. “So, Korgot,” Onua inquired. “How’d you end up as Tarahkai?” “Simple,” Korgot replied. “The mask I wear was passed down from those before me, generation to generation. It was meant to be from father to son, but--” “With you, isn’t that a bit… shaky?” Onua interjected. Korgot laughed. “Yes. I was the only child. So, the duty was mine, despite my gender. I remember that day when I inherited these weapons, this mask. The stares, the remarks of disapproval. That day I swore to prove them wrong.” Korgot made a fist for emphasis. “I swore that I would show them that anyone can be a hero. Even if it breaks a sacred rule.” “That is very noble,” Onua said. “Thank you, Toa of Earth,” Korgot replied. “Now let’s get on with the mission, shall we?” Lewa Lewa and Vizuna were swinging from tree to tree, searching for the shrine of the golden Miru. “Just a kio or so, and we should be there,” Vizuna calculated. “Good to hearknow,” Lewa replied. “Why do you speak like that, Lewa?” Vizuna asked, a puzzled look on his face. “It sometimes takes you twice as long to say something as most people.” “I don’t remember, exactly,” Lewa answered. “I hardly remember anything from my past. Except one thing: The way I used to speak-talk. But I don’t care about the past-gone. I live in the present-now.” “I see,” Vizuna replied. A voice called out behind them. “Hey guys!” it said. The two warriors turned around. The voice belonged to Bingzak. The Agori hung on to a vine and giggled, a sheepish grin on his face. Vizuna shot a look at Lewa. “You let him follow us?” he asked incredulously. “Not directprecisely, per se,” Lewa replied. Vizuna turned to Bingzak. “We told you to stay!” he scolded. “But I wanna come with you! Please? I know the jungle just as well as you guys! Besides, that Rahi-back ride was fun, Toa Lewa.” “I’m muchglad that you enjoyed it. But haven’t you had enough adventuring for one day?” Lewa asked. “You can never have too many adventures in one day!” Bingzak cried. Vizuna turned back to Lewa. “Well, the little one certainly is stubborn,” he whispered. “You got that rightcorrect,” Lewa whispered back dryly. “Not to mention the fact that we can’t just turn back after coming all this way.” “I suppose the child can come with,” Vizuna replied. Pohatu Pohatu was racing through the Kodan Desert, leaving a literal dust storm in his path. “Could you *cough* slow *cough* down?” Nilkuu called after him. “You aren’t even trying to keep up!” Pohatu groaned. Will this Toa ever get it together? Nilkuu thought, shaking his head. He sprinted after the Toa of Stone. “About time you caught up,” said Pohatu. “Yeah, but you can’t just act like everyone else is that fast! Especially with that Mask of Speed,” Nilkuu said indignantly. “Not to mention that your tendency to cause sandstorms doesn’t make it any easier.” “Sorry,” Pohatu replied. “You were right to hurry, though,” Nilkuu admitted. “The Mask Maker, Ekimu, lies in his tomb, comatose. It is only a matter of time before he is lost to the darkness, and Makuta’s pawns get their claws on the Mask of Creation. If they succeed, all will be lost. So, time is of the essence.” They continued at a jog, and came upon the shrine. It would have been a beautiful sight, if not for the Rahi guarding it. They were scorpion-like creatures with wicked-looking pincers and twin stinger tails. “Oko-Jaga.” Nilkuu spat out the word like a piece of rancid meat. The Oko-Jaga chittered, tails raised in attack position. Pohatu called upon his Desert Gliders, which flew from his feet to his hands, extending into two large boomerang-like weapons. Nilkuu readied his Sandstorm Staff. “Alright,” Nilkuu growled. “Who wants some?” Kopaka “Stay here, Izotor,” Kopaka said. “But--” “No.” Kopaka cut off the Tarahkai of Ice. “I don’t need your protection. If I needed it, using the Mask of Time to make me fall from the sky would be pointless. After all, what’s the point of having a Toa to defend the people if he cannot defend himself? Therefore, I am more than capable. Stand aside, I can do this myself.” Izotor sighed. “Don’t get cocky,” he muttered. Kopaka strode onward towards a flight of stairs, which led to the shrine atop Mount Ihu. A skeletal figure lay in wait atop the shrine, which was constructed to resemble the Mask of X-Ray Vision that Kopaka wore. The figure wore a mask carved into the shape of a skull, and his armor was broken and rusted. His metallic skeleton was also partially exposed, due in part to his broken armor, and the fact that he wasn’t alive. At least not in the way a Toa is. No, this being was long dead. Bent, twisted, broken…. Yet, in some way, it was very much alive. And it had an insatiable thirst for energy. The Toa approaching the shrine happened to be full if it. The figure drew its bow… A volley of ice blasts hurtled at Kopaka, causing the Toa to raise his Frost Shield. He felt the elemental energy flow into him, making him stronger. Kopaka noticed the skeletal being perched on the shrine, using the telescopic lens on his Akaku to study it. “Is that the best you can do, creature?” he called out. As if to answer, the being removed a sleek blue magazine from his weapon, replacing it with an orange one. Kopaka noticed that the Okotian text on it read “PROTODUST”. It must be technology from before the Great Cataclysm, Kopaka thought. The bow-blaster hybrid went from glowing blue to orange, and fire hissed toward the Toa of Ice. “Karz!” Kopaka cursed, shielding himself from the flames. He countered the archer’s relentless assault with his own ice blasts, but it was only a matter of time before his reserves would be depleted. One of Kopaka’s blasts struck home, freezing his skeletal assailant solid. Kopaka would examine the undead archer later. Acquiring my Golden Kanohi is more important. He placed his six Kanohi Stones in their slots… Gali Gali reached out for her golden mask. She took hold of it and slowly placed it over her original mask. Pure elemental energy coursed through her body! “How do ye feel?” Kivoda asked. “I feel amazing!” Gali cried. “Never before have I felt such power!” “Aye, Master of Water. The Great Sea hath bestowed her power upon ye, now that ye hath proved yer worthiness. I hope that ye use it wisely,” the Tarahkai replied gravely. “I will.” Gali bowed her head solemnly. “Good. Now ye should be getting to Koto-Nui, don’t ye think? Chapter VI The Toa, having acquired their Golden Kanohi, had finally proved their worthiness. But this wasn’t the end of it. Now, they must journey to Koto-Nui, the resting place of Ekimu and the Mask of Creation. But terrible creatures are lurking amid the ruins… A shadow crept along the wall of the crypt. The shadow belonged to no one, for it had a mind of its own. Its eyes narrowed at the sight of the sarcophagus. Yes, it thought. This is the one. The shadow concentrated, using its power to break open the sarcophagus. Slowly, the cover that concealed the ancient, long-dead being that the shadow had sought out began to crack. It’s a wonder how some of the energy from that mask still courses through us. But we feel so…. empty without it. That power will be ours again one day. Yes… The crack widened. Suddenly, the sarcophagus split open. “Rise.” The shadow waved its hand, and the air was filled with the sound of clockwork slowly grinding to life after ages of disuse. Slowly, the ancient being rose from the coffin that had held him for so many years. “Where...am I? What is.. this place?” he rasped, his voice like metal scraping against stone. As he was taking in his (not-so) new surroundings, he realized that something was terribly wrong with his body. His armor was broken and decayed, revealing metallic bone where once had been pistons and tissue. “What...Wh-what..no. It can’t be. No. Wh-WHAT THE KARZAHNI AM I?” “A shell.” The skeletal being turned. “Who said that? Show yourself!” The shadow revealed itself. “I can explain,” it replied calmly. “If your surroundings and your current appearance do not make it obvious enough, you have been dead for several thousand years.” “Then you have disturbed my slumber.” The hulking, undead humanoid found an enormous, rusted mace on the floor-- the weapon that he had slain many foes with. Despite the fact that his muscle tissue had long since rotted away, he lifted it easily, feeling its familiar heft again. He raised the mace skyward, ready to strike. “This has been my grave for millennia. Now it shall be yours!” The mace swung down, and the shadow made no effort to dodge. The attack was fruitless; it passed right through him! “What?! That’s impossible! What are you?” “I am a shell-- a broken remnant of what I used to be-- just as you are.” The skeleton’s yellow eyes narrowed. “Enough riddles! Get to the blasted point!” “The point is, I can give you what you want,” the shadow began silkily. “You want to reclaim your glory. You wish to lead your fearsome army of Skrall again. You want power-- to rule the kingdom that was rightfully yours, to sit upon your throne, ruling with an iron fist. You want flesh where there is only bone now. Most of all, you want revenge on the one who stole your throne and your life-- Ekimu!” The once-proud warrior king relished the idea. “I’m listening.” “The Kanohi Hanga, the Mask of Creation, is hidden in a shrine near the tomb of the Mask Maker--my brother. Find and claim it, and it shall grant you great power,” the shadow explained. The towering skeleton bristled. “If you call Ekimu your brother, then you must be--” Makuta waved a shadowy hand. “Ekimu is the one who broke you-- and pushed me off the edge. Repay him in kind, and you shall be rewarded.” Beneath his mask, a wicked smile twisted the skeletal being’s metallic face. His eyes changed color from a sickly yellow to a fiery red. “With pleasure...my master,” he rasped, kneeling before Makuta. “Rise, Lord Kulta, and reclaim what is rightfully yours.” Makuta raised a hand, and dark energy flowed from it into Kulta’s body. His bones began to glow brightly. “What is this energy that flows through me?” “My essence,” Makuta replied. “It gives you powers that some would consider...unnatural, or even forbidden. For instance, you can raise the dead. Is there anyone you loved, whom you wish to see again?” Kulta thought about the suggestion. “Possibly, but not like... this,” he said, gesturing to his own decrepit body. They walked through the crypt. “Try it on this one.” Makuta gestured toward a small coffin. Crimson energy crackled from Kulta’s mace to the coffin. Suddenly, a skeletal limb broke through the lid, and a zombified Agori leapt out! It gave a high-pitched shriek. “It would frighten my foes,” Kulta mused. “But Agori are even more pathetic undead than when they’re alive,” he spat. “However, I’ll keep this one around.” He glanced at the coffin to see if it was marked. The inscription read: “Here lies--” The text was cut off by the crack in the surface-- “--zalk.” “I’ll call it Zalk.” He noticed that Zalk’s heartlight glowed the same red as his body. “He is under your control,” Makuta explained. “So the Agori scum will be more than just a pet,” Kulta mused. He willed the Agori to follow him, and he obeyed. “I have one more thing to show you. Follow me,” Makuta whispered. The three beings exited the crypt through an open doorway leading to a large cemetery. Awaiting them was a small army of 500 undead Skrall warriors, standing at attention. “Your army, as promised. I must leave you now. You know what to do. If you see any Toa, kill them immediately. Do not fail me.” With that, Makuta vanished.

  18. Where are the honkles? So, we've seen the Summer Wave and I had to delete my last entry pertaining to my thoughts on them as they were still leaked info at that time - we'd only got names, not pictures, and I was talking as if I'd seen pictures. I'll speak no more of them, because even though we've seen the summer sets, the actual images I saw are still leaks - that doesn't change just because we saw then in non-leaks. I'll start with Umarak the Destroyer. As a fan of Umarak the Hunter... I think the summer incarnation loses too much of Umarak. I don't get why the antlers had to go when they were one of Umarak's most defining features. Instead, they're replaced with horns that are all too common, used in sets like Pyrox and Skull Basher. It also bugs me his upper legs are shorter than they were in Hunter, and yet they made the lower legs longer by using longer beams, so these shorter upper legs negate the presumed point of the lower legs, which I assume was to make Umarak the Destroyer taller than Umarak the Hunter. If there's one colour that I like more than other people seem to, it's the transparent neon green, but here, for once, I don't really agree with it. Transparent Neon Green doesn't look anywhere near as good as the Transparent Green Umarak, Uxar, and Protector of Jungle us. Also, why does he have such a thin, spindly neck without articulation? Let's move on to Lava Beast. Lava Beast, I think, looks decent. It's pretty clear it's a beat, but I think Lava Beast is a bit too humanoid and the lower legs could probably have been replaced with one 3m or 4m bone and a 5m bone with hinge, if you know what I mean. I like the weapons, and I like the lower arms, but I don't agree with the crystal shell add-ons being transparent black when Lava Beast has no other transparent black pieces. I like the attempt at giving his head variety by giving him a shadow trap half to give him a 'crest' of sorts. Storm Beast would look so much better if the transparent blue was replaced with transparent dark blue. Also, the hands could do with being hands instead of feet. And I'm not too sure what the function is supposed to be, except it looks extremely limiting and clunky - it looks like the tail can't move where it's connected but the tail has articulation in the middle - like Ketar. Actually, that might be it - Storm Beast has Ketar's function, in which case, expect Storm Beast's arms to fall down and be hard to pose. Quake Beast... uhhhh. What's with the random transparent neon green disc-thing and the random shell and blades on the shoulder? They look extremely out of place, and the shoulder shadow-trap doesn't look good nor would it have much functional use being there at all. And it appears that Quake Beast, much like Protector of Earth, suffers from having only half a spiky thing. Quake Beast also doesn't pull off the asymmetry as well as Skull Warrior did last year, nor does the combination of transparent purple and transparent neon green look good. Ekimu: I think Ekimu is the best lower-priced set of the wave. But I wouldn't mind Ekimu being replaced with another beast. He's like the Toa, except with a gearbox instead of a piece of unification. He appears to be doing something similar to Tahu and Gali last year, where they had shells over the shoulders, except for some reason it's connected to the torso here when it's probably better-looking to connect them to the shoulders where the arms attach, like Tahu and Gali last year. Easy fix to make, so it's nothing too major. I'm glad the Mask of Creation isn't a gold and transparent blue blend, because just look at the shape of the Mask of Creation: even if it was blended, it really wouldn't look too good - the 'spikes' on the top of the mask are too tall. I guess Ekimu is the new Takanuva. The hammer also looks really good, though I don't understand how the shield is attached. It would be nicer if Umarak's mask was black and transparent-neon-green instead of gunmetal and transparent orange, though. Also, the reason why the Beasts are not as good as the Skeletons? Bpooky Bcary Beasts doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
  19. Zerkah is one of a series of builds that each take inspiration from someone I know in real life. This influences personality, weapon choice/fighting style, and physical appearance. Eldest son of Lord Kihanu and Lady Thrae, and by that same token, rightful Lord of the House of Kihanu. Due to his noble bloodline, he is the leader of the Toa Vihagu. Despite this, even after being entitled with Lordship even before his father's death, he does not consider himself more worthy than those who fight alongside him or for him. Zerkah is incredibly passionate about his duty, both as a Toa and as a noble. He has seen firsthand what the Malevolent have done to Talis, the place where he was born, and seeks to eradicate the Malevolent from every land he can set foot on. As such, he shows great strength and violence when in battle with the Malevolent, but great sympathy for those who are enslaved to the Malevolent's will. Zerkah is known to become great friends with any who share his desire for the liberation of the islands. However, this overriding desire causes him to often overlook the interests or abilities of those not in tandem with his interests. This can prove troublesome when dealing with teammates - supposedly under his command - that are seeking out their personal interests. One would expect Zerkah would equip himself with an adorned weapon and expensive, ornate armor, as he had the fortune to do. But instead, Zerkah choose to use his fortune to import some of the ancient but well made Jainad armor, while equipping himself in battle with a common axe. His great strength and elemental potency allow him to use even poorly made axes to deadly effect. Flickr Gallery
  20. The masters' masks are the masks of their respective elements. But what do they do? are they the source of their power? Are they powerless without them, both elementally and otherwise? What about the Golden masks? Is it just like going from "olda" to "nuva", like it's just a power level upgrade? And if the masks are the source of elemental powers, then what happens if, say, Tahu wears the Mask of Ice. Would it work for him? Or does that mask work only for one person? What about Protector masks? Are they basically turaga-level elemental power masks? And, here's the one that confuses me the most, what does the Mask of Creation do? When Kulta wore it, all he did was smash the Toa. Doe sit actually help you create stuff? Is it more like the G1 version of Artakha's mask then? But then it also makes you stronger, meaning that even people who aren't the owners of the masks can use them... And what does the Mask of control do? Is it like a high-powered Komau? I guess this should be more straightforward, but it must have gone over my head. Can you guys sum it up?

    Pohatu & Ketar

Acquired Pohatu + Ketar. Let's start with Ketar. Ketar is... Ketar. A bit awkward constructed, if anything. Especially compared to the other creatures. Its back does not look pretty, which is bad since that's what you see from the sides and from the top. I don't understand why the glatorian necks that hold the arms have the axles of the gear pieces poking out through them. Why not use one of those Ikir uses to prevent the y-joints from having the axle pieces poke through them? It's just two small pieces and an incredibly simple solution that would go some way to improving Ketar's appearance. There's no reason not to have them. Then there's the tail. This really highlights why CCBS needs an equivalent of that y-joint variant that was common titan sets 2004-2006. Or instead of that, instead of the angled dual-connector thing, why not use one of the ordinary non-angled dual-connector and add one of those singular ball joints onto the end, then the CCBS bone portion of the tail? Along with some more bones to make the tail longer. Gives the tail articulation without sacrificing the function. And why the random gunmetal piece of unification? Ketar already has silver, Pohatu has silver, the only set that does have a gunmetal piece of unification is Umarak so there is really no reason for the piece of unification to be gunmetal instead of silver. As it is, it's one of the two colours really taking away from Ketar's colour scheme. The other is the dark brown. It would be fine if they were tan like the vorox armour piece and Pohatu's torso. or even silver. Also, I don't think the dark brown works well with the transparent neon green, not as much as burnt orange or dark tan do. I think the nicest thing I can say about Ketar is that Ketar looks fine as long as you look away from the torso. Pohatu, thankfully, is much better. He's the Toa of Stone. The silver works decently well. Though I'm not sure if the transparent neon green armour on the transparent green bones work. Transparent-on-transparent worked on Onua because transparent purple isn't as eye-blinding and only noticeable in bright light, but transparent neon green is very noticeable except in dim or no light. So it's a huge mass of bright in a set with otherwise dark colours. The shells should be dark tan or burnt orange rather than what they are. Preferably burnt orange. On a more positive note, I like the shoulders. Out of Kopaka, Lewa, and Pohatu, I think Pohatu makes the best use of Voroxiculus Scapulosis (commonly known as 'Vorox Shoulder Syndrome). It makes his shoulders look either wider than they are or narrower than they are, I can't really tell. But it does help carry a desert feel, especially with the lower part of the glatorian neck exposed and the bohrok teeth. He's got a pretty nice weapon. Simple, but it works. It's not a spear (spears have shorter blades, I think) and the rock is nice. Strangely, the crystal piece Pohatu uses seems to be blended between silver and a very odd shade of transparent green. It's not quite transparent neon green, as in some lights it resembles the transparent regular green Uxar and Umarak use. But it's not transparent regular green either. So I don't know what colour it is exactly, but it's a weird colour. I like the new mask of Pohatu. If only because the top has more detailing on it. Last year, Pohatu looked a bit bald (especially with the drained version of the mask) after a while and that bothered me. Unification: ...I don't even know. Pohatu gains... not armour. Not wings. Something. It's something. It doesn't really look as good as the other unifications. Nor does it look good. Nor does it give Pohatu anything useful. Ketar's just a weight on Pohatu's back that doesn't add anything useful. Ketar's blade-claw-things aren't useful since they have extremely limited articulation while not having that great a reach while on Pohatu's back, and the tail's too short to give Pohatu a stinger tail. The legs are too short to wrap around Pohatu's torso to give him extra armour, and it just ends up looking odd if you try. I totally get why Pohatu hates scorpios now - they make him carry then on his back, and give nothing useful. If anyone can make sense of Pohatu's useless unification, it's not me. Ketar, Ketar. Worst creature, worst unification.
  22. This is Jetera, my Generation 2 selfMOC. He's the narrator, but not necessarily the hero, of an experimental storyline based around all the main characters being inspired by real people. His physical appearance was inspired by my own, to some extent, while retaining a few similarities to previous versions that were explicitly based on other character designs. His personality (described blow) is a mix of my own and that of my G1 selfMOC, who Jetera parallels in the same way that the Masters/Uniters parallel the Mata/Nuva. A stranger who claims to have no memory of his past. Although some have tried, no one has been able to refute this claim - and none have been able to trace him from prior to his arrival on the beaches of Erkelon, far south of Okoto, in a strange "canister". What little knowledge he does have of his nature comes from his recent experience - although he has been awake for but fifteen months - and a few strange "premonitions". He is not even sure of his own name - "Jetera", he says, is only a reconstruction. Shortly after his arrival, Jetera was chosen to be the Master of Storms of the Toa Vihagu. However, Jetera's control over his electrical element was inconsistent and best, and nonexistent at worst - so he used deception and surprise as his chief tools. Despite his initally aloof and sometimes outright hostile to his teammates, his affinity for them has grown greatly, and the friendships he has with them have become his driving force - as he had no fixed morality or sense of purpose upon arrival. Jetera currently wields a lightning-infused steel sword known as Faera, which was bequeathed to him after a battle on the island of Talis. Its natural power greatly increases Jetera's elemental potency, although, for reasons unknown, he often opts for a non-elemental weapon. Jetera initially had two knives upon arrival - one was lost within his first few months, but the second he still keeps as a sidearm. It appears to have come from a far more technologically advanced society than that of Erkelon or any of the surrounding islands. Flickr Gallery
  23. Here is some absolutely stupid speculation about this year's first wave of sets. First off, let's start with the Melum speculation. Melum's name is Melum. This is similar to 'Malum', which I think means bad in latin? Additionally, Melum shares the letters 'M', 'E', and 'U' with Metus, a character from 2009. Metus was a traitor. As as result of the above, we can guess that Melum is a bad guy and a traitor, thus explaining why Melum has no trap like the other creatures. Melum is a traitor! Now, Umarak speculation! Umarak is not hunting the creatures. He didn't place the traps, they're just part of Okoto's wonderful wildlife. Umarak is hunting for the Mask of Control. To prevent the Toa from getting it. Umarak is also hunting the Toa. Umarak knows of Kulta and the other Skull Skeletons. In a past blog entry, I've said that I like to think that Kulta, Basher, and Slicer used to be Toa, but have masks that prevent them from dying. Umarak attempted to hunt them in the past, only to fail because they cannot die. Umarak has been around longer than the Toa, but arrived after Ekimu and Makuta's confrontation. Umarak has no allegiance to either, and just seeks the Mask of Control because it would allow him to control anything that wasn't Umarak. There, stupid speculation over.

    G2Tahu & Ikir

Acquired Tahu and Ikir. Let's start with Ikir: Mostly looks good. Mostly. The talons on the feet are nice, able to wrap around a finger tightly. The way the wings attach, however, looks horribly awkward. (Terak has the same problem, but it's hidden well) The tail flaps the wings in a mechanism that's exactly the same as Uxar using different pieces, and the tail itself looks decent... when down. When it's up and the wings are far back, it looks awkward as it's jutting out of the middle of Ikir's back, instead of where a tail should be. I also wish they'd recolour the red + yellow transparent flame pieces to orange and yellow or red and orange already, as right now there are very little transparent yellow or transparent red pieces, and isnted a lot of transparent orange pieces. Ikir's head is nice, being transparent orange and gold, which is honestly a rather nice looking combination of colours. Onto Tahu: I've done a complete 360 on my position on Tahu now that I've seen him with my own eyes. He doesn't look anywhere near as bad as people claim, IMO. Transparent Orange and Gold is a wonderful combination. (Bright for six years? Not overused, somehow... Dark (metru) red for four years? Overused!) I don't really understand the seeming disappointment about the piece of unification being used as armour, or the dislike of the torso. They're hardly the first pieces of their kind with such detail. (Both of the breakout add-ons - round and square, breakout torso, piston piece, skull armour piece, skull axe, skull sword, Lewa/Gali axe pieces, Onua shoulder pieces, Tahu lava board piece things, Ordeal of Fire jetbug engine shells, Ordeal of Fire weapons... yeah, since the start of CCBS.) What doesn't fit on Tahu is the blue, IMO. The gears on the weapons make them stick out to the side a little too much, The shoulders are also a little too wide, like wider-than-an-inika Torso wide. And that's ridiculously wide, since Inika torso wide was already pushing it way back in G1. Wide shoulders work well on Onua since Onua was meant to be wide, not so much on Tahu.
  25. So, I was on Biosector01.com for the first time in ages, as I was curious about how they've incorporated G2 information into the wiki. One of the first pages I went to was Masks of Power, where I was surprised to find that masks of strength and speed exist in G2 canon. The problem is, the only reference to them is on a page on Bionicle.com that no longer exists. Can anyone provide me with the info that was originally on the page? Thanks.
