  1. Though Ekimu and Makuta were masters of the art of mask-making, they weren't the only mask-makers on Okoto.Long ago, Ekimu realized that he and his brother would not be around forever, so he decided to teach his craft to the people of Okoto. At the behest of Makuta, Ekimu only took in a few pupils, all under oath to only teach their knowledge to their families while the two Mask Makers still lived. All of Ekimu's students went on to become decent mask-makers in their own right, but the absolute best among them was a Stone Tribe member clad in yellow and silver. Known as the Helmsmith, he crafted thousands of masks, from children's masks to ceremonial wedding masks to full-fledged Kanohi Masks of Power. While not quite up to the standards of Ekimu (then again, with the Mask of Creation in his possession, who is?), his masks are still of incredible quality. Unfortunately for the people of Okoto, the Helmsmith decided to retire after the incident with the Mask of Ultimate Power. The rumor floating around is that seeing Makuta turn against Ekimu made him fearful that something similar will happen to him, so he chose to step down from mask-making rather than take the risk. However, if you had a Mask of Speed..."
  2. From what we've seen in the recent story videos, the islanders aren't exactly characters. Sure, we have the young villager who has been widely celebrated for his cuteness, but the islanders are still, quite literally, copy-paste characters. If the story team wants to diversify the island and culture of Okoto, they should pay some attention to the islanders. Now, I'm not saying that every single islander should have a different personality, body-build and mask design, but rather just make them matter in the Okoto society by giving a handful of them names and occupations. It'll work as well as it did on the island of Mata Nui, trust me. I don't have very much to offer up, so tell me what you think.
  3. The Island of Mata Nui was home to many kinds of animals. There were the impressive 2001 Rahi sets like the Muaka and the Tarakavas, but there were also other beasts like Mahi goats, Gukko birds, Takea sharks, Kofo-Jaga, Ussal crabs, and all manner of miscellaneous critters. So far, the only wildlife we've seen from Okoto in set form are the various Skull Spider breeds and the Lord of Skull Spiders. However, there are signs of other creatures; the website entry for the Region of Jungle mentions "savage wildlife" and the picture of the Water Tribe village has fish in it. What beasts do you expect or hope to see on Okoto?
  4. A small ape-like creature has been mutated and controlled by the Skull Spiders! Now the beast seeks to attack the villagers of Okoto. Fight back with the mighty Master of Plasma, using the dual shoulder-mounted blasters and energy spikes! But watch out for the Skull Slasher's razor-sharp claws! . . Click the images above for larger versions! imgur gallery flickr gallery Recently I bought Pohatu, Kopaka, the Protector of Ice, and the Protector of Fire. Fantastic parts packs. I decided to build some characters using only parts from those sets, and these were the first attempts. Check out one of my other recent MOCs, Toriaze, winner of the November BZP flickr contest!
  5. Recent promo inserts from the Lego magazine have hinted that there is an "ancient city" on Okoto. My theory is that said city is shown right here in the Legend video: These screenshots from the Legend video sure look like a city to me. If it's not the Ancient city, than what is it? It also sort of begs the question of why they put these shots in here if they weren't significant. More interestingly, it looks like the city is floating, in this last picture, on some sort of cloud or steam, and that there is a very subtle difference in the architecture that indicates things are wrecked. (But why is there a floating city in the middle of an island? Weird.) Also, this image + "all lived in harmony" may indicate that all of the tribes lived together in the Ancient city. The masks being scattered may have led to the Protectors abandoning the city and being scattered too, or having to go all over the island to protect the masks. I'm sure ya'll can take a gatling gun to this one. Go!
  6. I mean for MOC'ing or just to disassemble them and be done with the pieces or save them for later. EDIT: Also, the reason I'm asking this is because I just took apart my new 2015 Kopaka & Protector of Ice to make my self MOC I've been dying to build.
  7. Deep within Okoto’s jungle, within the ruins of Ekimu’s ancient city, dwells this monstrous arachnid. Far bolder than any other spider on Okoto, it first made its presence known during the later years of the Skull Spider invasion. At first believed to be a coincidental nuisance or a predator of the smaller creatures, it quickly became apparent that it was actually controlling the spider horde. It wasn’t long before even the elders dubbed the entity “The Lord of Skull Spiders”. The people of Okoto are hopeful that the Toa will be able to defeat this monster and put the infestation down for good, but many believe that the whole crisis is simply the precursor to still darker times ahead… The creature is sometimes seen with a golden version of the Skull Spider Kanohi in its possession. Many believe that this mask is how the Lord controls the lesser Skull Spiders (and, by extension, whatever the spiders take control of). Rumor has it that this mask is actually Makuta’s lost Mask of Creation, picked up by the spider when Makuta tossed it away. More pictures: Top Photo Front Side Back Mask Vs, Protector Vs. Toa Also, before anyone says anything, the leg design was intentional. I was trying to go for a "mismatched monstrosity" look. Think of it as a (possibly desperate) way of trying to make the LOSS unique in some way. =p
  8. The Legend: A long time ago in the on the mythical island of Okoto, all lived in harmony. It was a place of wonders and beautiful landscapes. From the island's elemental forces, two brothers, known as the Mask makers, created masks of Power. Each brother had a special mask. Makuta owned the Mask of Control, and Ekimu the Mask of Creation. The brothers provided the islanders with many masks, but Ekimu's were the most treasured. His brother became envious and forged an evil plan. It was a sacred law that a mask could never contain the power of more than one element. Otherwise it would become too strong, and dangerous. But Makuta wanted to create the strongest mask of all time. The Mask of Ultimate Power. When Makuta put it on, it took control over him, and the island began to shake and crumble. Realizing what his brother had done, Ekimu managed to knock the mask from Makuta's face. A shockwave rolled across the land, and sent both brothers into an endless sleep. The masks were scattered all over the island, waiting for a time when someone would come looking for them. --------------------------------------------------01 The Prophecy of Heroes: NARRATOR: On the mythical island of Okoto, ancient masks of power were hidden away, for only the strongest to find and claim. But an enemy was rising, growing stronger by the minute, searching for the masks. Desperately, the Protectors gathered in the most sacred place, the Temple of Time. Reciting what was known as the Prophecy of Heroes, they sent their prayers to the sky. The prophecy was whispered the Protectors a long time ago when they found the lifeless body of Ekimu, the mask maker, and laid him to rest. PROTECTOR OF FIRE: Hear now, O my son, what the prophecy says: When times are dark and all hope seems lost, the Protectors must unite, one from each tribe, invoke the power of past and future, and look to the skies for an answer. When the stars align, six comets will bring timeless heroes to claim the Masks of Power and find the Mask Maker. United, the six elements hold the power to defeat evil. United, but not one. NARRATOR: It was the power of this prophecy that made six elemental heroes to rain down upon Okoto. Who they really were remained a mystery. But it was their destiny to defeat evil and save the island. --------------------------------------------------------02 The Arrival: NARRATOR: A bright light fell from the sky above the island of Okoto, crashing into the ground like a burning rock. The wise Protector led the local villagers to a crater of fire. They held their breath as a figure stepped out of the flames. TAHU: O where am I? Who am I? PROTECTOR OF FIRE: You are Tahu, the Master of Fire. You have been sent to us. TAHU: What are you talking about? Why would I be sent here? PROTECTOR: An evil is rising. And you are here to defeat it. NARRATOR: Tahu looked around the villagers. His head held many questions, but no memory of who he was or what he was capable of. TAHU: Me? What do I know about defeating evil? PROTECTOR: It has been foretold that one day six heroes, the Toa, would arrive and go on a quest for golden masks to unlock each of their great powers. TAHU: How do you know- [VILLAGERS behind THE PROTECTOR OF FIRE reel in fear.] TAHU: Was it something I said? PROTECTOR: No, it's those Skull Spiders behind you! [sKULL SPIDERS attack TAHU. TAHU successfully fends them off.] [upon seeing this, the VILLAGERS gasp and bow before TAHU.] TAHU: Umm...mmm...ohh. PROTECTOR: Do you still doubt your destiny, Tahu? Come with me, we have no time to waste! ---------------------------03 Quest for the Golden Masks: NARRATOR: Legend told that one day, six heroes would make it through the dangerous parts of the island, and claim the masks to unlock their true powers. Lewa, Toa of Jungle, was cutting through thick woodlands. The sun burned Pohatu, Toa of Stone, as he fought his way across desert dunes. Kopaka, Toa of Ice, was striding through raging blizzards. KOPAKA: Oof. I didn't slip. NARRATOR: The river was a fast way for Gali, Toa of Water, while Onua, Toa of Earth, was clawing his way through solid rock. PROTECTOR OF FIRE: Tahu, Toa of Fire, this is Okoto's greatest volcano. You are close now. But reaching your goal does not mean the end of danger. Far from it. Know this, Tahu - the shadows of the shrines hold stronger enemies than you could ever imagine. Be brave. Be strong. Believe in your destiny. -------------------------------------- 04: The Protectors Fight Back NARRATOR: They traveled for weeks through dangerous lands. Now the six heroes and their Protectors, could finally see their goals. Six secret shrines. Six golden masks waiting to be found. PROTECTOR OF FIRE: No time to waste, Tahu. I feel we are not alone. [sKULL SPIDERS crawl over the ledge leading to the shrine.] NARRATOR: Tahu had no idea what heroes normally did when facing a threat like this, but it made good sense to simply...RUN! [PROTECTOR OF FIRE and TAHU run inside the shrine. Once inside, the PROTECTOR blasts a bunch of SKULL SPIDERS using his gun.] PROTECTOR: The shrine's inside! Hurry! [THE PROTECTOR points at the Golden Mask in the middle of the Lava.] There it is! PROTECTOR: We don't have much time, Tahu! Get the mask! PROTECTOR: I'll keep them away. [THE PROTECTOR turns and shoots the incoming Skull Spiders.] [Meanwhile, TAHU pauses and leaps on his lava surfboard, heading for the Golden Mask.] TAHU: AHHH. I. CAN. FEEL. THE. POWER! [THE PROTECTOR OF FIRE runs out of ammunition.] [TAHU reaches the Golden Mask.] ------------------------------------------------------------ 05 The Power of the Golden Masks NARRATOR: The six heroes had all reached their shrines. Pohatu, Kopaka, Lewa, Gali, Onua, and Tahu. The protectors had guided them wisely, but time was running out. Skull Spiders launched their attacks and the Protectors would not stand a chance againest them. PROTECTOR OF FIRE: Fulfill the prophecy, the time has come. NARRATOR: Elemental Power filled Tahu's body completely. PROTECTOR: Run Tahu, it's too late for me. TAHU: No, it is not too late. For I am the Master of Fire!!!RAH!! NARRATOR: The golden masks gave them elemental strength to defeat the Skull Spiders. Their amazing powers had been unlocked. ----------------------------------------------- 06 Quest for the Mask Maker NARRATOR: The heroes had proven themselves worthy and were now filled with the power of their elements: Ice, Water, Jungle, Earth, Stone, and Fire. TAHU: I feel amazing powers. I can even hear sounds from far away. PROTECTOR OF FIRE: No, you fool, it's from inside your mask. The voice of Ekimu, the Mask Maker. He is calling you. TAHU: Why, I thought the job was finished. PROTECTOR: You have only taken your first step. The true quest is ahead of you and where you are going I cannot follow. TAHU: Wait. There is more than a voice. I am seeing something. NARRATOR: A magnificent city, but in ruins. Something terrible had happened there once, and something even more terrible was waiting. TAHU: Am I going to find the Mask Maker alone? PROTECTOR: No one can handle this quest alone. There are six elements mastered by six heroes. Let the mask guide you. Hurry! Evil is growing stronger! ---------------------------------------------07 Team of Heroes NARRATOR: Near the heart of Okoto lay the ancient city of the mask makers. Who knew what secret dangers waited inside. The heroes had arrived. Destined to go on the same quest, they saw each other for the first time. TAHU: Greetings. I am Tahu, the Master of Fire. The prophecy has brought us together under my command. KOPAKA: Your command? Did your brain catch fire? I am Kopaka, and I work under no command. [TAHU and KOPAKA run at each other and start punching and kicking.] GALI: Stop it you idiots! [GALI stabs her battle ax into the melee. Meanwhile ONUA picks up TAHU and KOPAKA and holds them by the back of their heads.] ONUA: Ha Ha Ha. Don't fight. TAHU: We still need a leader. GALI: We'll have a vote then. [stabs weapon into ground for emphasis] LEWA: I vote for Onua. He knows how to -grab- attention. Hm hm hmm hm. POHATU: Quiet. We've got company. KOPAKA & TAHU: Huh. [THE LORD OF SKULL SPIDERS folds his legs over the bridge leading to the heroes' position.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'd thought I'd throw these up here for those of us who may prefer reading to watching animations - having it out in text form can aid analysis by giving a visual of what was previously only sound. (Plus now I can quote these! ) Also if anyone wants to see how this transcript adds up with the animations themselves, you can watch the subtitled versions here.
  9. Look. I know you are all going to mash away at your keyboards talking about Makuta, but I don't want him to be the front and centre villain just yet. This would probably build up the hype for his inevitable set, and that's another thing this new line should do. Establish a good rogues gallery. I really don't want to see our heroes fight Makuta each year, I want something fresh! I want to see a threat that strips them to their bare essence, a threat that tests their will and strength, a threat that is formidable enough to stand in their way. Sure, Makuta can do this all simultaneously, but I want to see something new. I personally think that the new threat should be villains (swarms or separate characters, you choose) that also have elemental powers. This would challenge the Toa not to just rely on themselves and their powers, but each other and the world around them. This was effective when the original Toa had to hold off the Bohrok swarms. One example of this was when Kopaka, Pohatu and Gali had to work together to eliminate a swarm of Tahnok. They accomplished this by flooding a large hole full of the creatures. This is the kind of challenge I want to see, but of course, don't make it a discount Bohrok storyline.
  10. So how are you guys planning on getting the sets, and what are you gonna do with them? My plan is getting Protectors of Ice, Jungle, Water, and the Masters of Ice, Jungle, and Water. I'll be using those sets to build my friend's and I personal MOCs.
  11. When the newest story and promotional videos had hit the web, keen eyes had spotted some cheeky Vahi easter eggs. Not only that, but one of the main temples, the Kini-Nui of Okoto, if you will, is called the Temple of Time. Surely this isn't all audience pandering, because I think that time is going to be a major thing in this new line. Sure, the Mask of Time easter eggs may just be some fan service, but the Temple of Time is surely hard evidence. I mean, come on, there's a pendulum in the temple. Perhaps when the Protectors combine their powers, they can have control over time. My theory is that the Protectors and the Toa encounter a dangerous threat when the Lord of Skull Spiders finally gets his hands on the Mask of Creation, or even the Mask of Ultimate Power, the only way the forces of Okoto can stop them is by using the very powers of the unity of the Protectors - time. They could manage to harness the Time energy and put it into a physical form, but they do not have the skill to craft such energy into something like a mask, hence the Vahi easter eggs. But of course, Ekimu could craft a Mask of Time. This leads the Toa to eventually find Ekimu's forge, and with their powers, they manage to wake up Ekimu and Makuta, and they form an alliance with him in order to craft the Mask of Time. So, Ekimu does make a Mask of Time and the Toa defeat the Lord of Skull Spiders, retrieving the Mask of Creation. But in my established story, waking up Ekimu wakes up Makuta, and vice versa. After this, Makuta realises his goal, and plots to take over Okoto a second time. Carrying guilt for causing Makuta's release, the Toa unite once more, now with Ekimu's help, to defeat the rogue Maskmaker. Note: If this counts as a potential spoiler, well, excuuuse me. This is just guesswork here.
  12. This poll asks how much the animation of 2015 Bionicle resembles a storybook. Please do not vote based on the voices primarily. The point of this is A) whether Bionicle 2015 actually has a storybook style and B) whether this fact would become obvious to the viewers upon watching and inform their opinions on said animation, the voices, etc. However, if you think that the voices are important to this, you can vote based on that anyway. I think the animation question is more important, though. Vote! I didn't immediately think "storybook animation" on watching these - there are no flipping pages, for example, or other obvious storybook hallmarks. However, the narration style "Listen, my son" could have clued in some IMO. I got a more action-y vibe like the CGI commercial from them - a storybook animation is not something I expect from Bionicle. Doesn't mean it's bad.
  13. Beware, islanders of Okoto! Even the power of the mighty Toa is no match for the dangerous, the malicious, the powerful... Skull Spiders! In this new first wave of Bionicle sets, our protagonists, the Toa/Masters have to battle the armies of the Lord of Skull Spiders. Seems pretty good. But should they be first wave enemies, or just a minor roadblock to the eventual Makuta battle? I disagree to the latter. First of all, I want to make something clear. I don't want Makuta to be the main villain for this year. Sure, have some hinting towards his character soon being a threat, but the rogue Maskmaker should not be the top priority for the new line of sets for 2015. The Lord of Skull Spiders should be a formidable villain, enough to stand up against the six Toa, and can give them a hard time through more ways than his arachnid army. Maybe have him be a cold, calculating plotter, who leads the Toa into traps, and makes them fight among each other. If the Lord were as sinister and deceitful as that, he would certainly be a threat. But please do give him some character. He should also have a personality that makes us love to hate him. If not, he is just Makuta with extra legs. Second, have the Skull Spiders do more than dogpile islanders. There seem to be different breeds of Skull Spiders, so why not give them something unique to them? I will offer up poison, strength, and agility. With these specific traits, each breed can be dangerous in their own different ways, and it will challenge our heroes to fight them some other way. Third, the Skull Spiders can make collectibles. The Skull Spiders are apparently craving the Mask of Creation for it's power, and the Mask of Creation only, but with some tweaks, we can have an excuse for collectibles. The Skull Spiders could possibly just be hoarders in general, so they try to collect every mask that was made by Ekimu. Once all the Toa have found their Golden Masks, they could undergo another quest - retrieving the stolen masks. With this little plot point, this could lead into the second wave of sets, and the collectibles themselves. The collectibles could be the stolen masks, and they come in many different colours and shapes, and we could get some sweet new melded masks. This is a similar marketing strategy to finding the different Kanohi back in 2001, as both you and the Toa were looking for masks. In conclusion, the Lord of Skull Spiders should be more formidable, and the masks stolen by the Skull Spiders can lead us into the collectibles. The sets for the collectibles shouldn't be too pricey, probably at $6 maximum, or something. It should have three masks, and a Skull Spider. Da End.
  14. Hello there! Remember the days when the Technic and Bionicle themes were inseparable? Back in 2001, the original Bionicle line was actually sold under the Technic theme, with Bionicle being a subtitle, if you will. They have had a pretty close relationship, but this relationship started to meet some bumpy roads after 2004. In the years before 2005, every Bionicle set had a bit of Technic in it, and Technic gave the sets a gear function and more playability. Following the Visorak, however, no gear functions were present in the sets. This was the same case for the Rahaga. Technic and Bionicle probably broke up in late 2006, when the Piraka, Toa Inika, Titans, and pretty much every other set had absolutely no gear or Technic functions. This continued all the way into Bionicle's end. This is an unfortunate thing, as Bionicle has it's roots in the Technic line, and was what made it unique. It was a shame we didn't see many other sets with Technic functions after 2005. But fast foward five years, and Technic and Bionicle have gotten back together. YES! This new line is paying homage to it's predecessor, and that is a great thing. With this great news, I am going to explain why this should continue for the foreseeable future. 1: It makes the Titan sets more awesome. Remember the awesome functions of the Titan sets in Bionicle's earlier days? Like how the Bahrag's heads lunge forward, how the Tarakava throw punches, or how Nivawk spread his wings? Like the smaller sets, the Titan sets started to have less functions. They were still awesome, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see some functions return. Not only that, but you can have some very nice looking sets. During Hero Factory's run, the Titan sets we got weren't very well designed and looked a bit flimsy. One set in particular that I got was Fire Lord, and he only had a sprinkle of Technic pieces, and his legs were made of limbs. It made him look slightly weak, and it left him looking gappy (Witch Doctor is an exception, he had pistons in his legs and was a great set, that's why I got him). When Titan sets have Technic parts in them, they look more biomechanical and less gappy. Looking at the tiny pistons and functions in a Titan's leg looks much better than a bunch of limbs. 2: It looks more biomechanical and is more MOC-friendly. I briefly went over how adding Technic parts makes a set look more biomechanical, so I won't go over it as much. But on the other hand, adding Technic parts to a set makes it more MOC-friendly. On occasions I've tried to build some MOCS with the Hero Factory build only, without the Technic parts, and it is actually harder than using the Bionicle/Technic system. The Ultrabuild system seems to restrict you to these large, clunky pieces, and it really isn't easy to add in some small little touches. In future, the new sets should integrate some more Technic pieces to... complete the look, if you will. Well. This little discussion was rather short. I made this list in 15 minutes or something, so forgive the lack of material in this. I don't have much to say anyway, so what do you think?
  15. I want this to be a thing, please, let there be mask packs or at least some other type of way to get the 2015 masks recolored. I want to do an updated self-MOC and I think the new masks look pretty cool. Opinions/ideas, anyone?
  16. Hello again, readers! Now be mindful that these opinions I will put forth are suggestions. The new Bionicle sets haven't even hit the shelves yet (at least in Australia), and we only have a synopsis of what will happen in 2015's line. In keeping with my belief that this theme should distinct itself more from it's predecessor, I will suggest some new ways to integrate it into the story, but I will still deviate from that a bit with these following suggestions: Add more elements. No matter when you joined the Bionicle crowd, you would always see a collection of six, distinctly coloured and powered heroes/villains dominate both the attention and the shelves. Fire, Water, Air/Jungle, Earth/Rock, Stone/Sand and Ice would be the elements and colours of whatever six-team we saw in any one wave. It is quite clear that this the first 2015 wave is following suit, keeping with the tradition. Personally, I believe we should change the elements up a bit. In the Generation 1 Bionicle story, we have several different elements besides the original six, and those other elements are plentiful. We have: Magnetism, Gravity, Sonics, Psonics, Plasma, Acid, Lightning, Sand, Rock, Plantlife, Light, Shadow, and Iron. I say we introduce another six of these elements into the new story, but further along the way, of course, very much like the Bohrok-Kal. It would be a very nice way to break the mold (with the protagonists), and it also builds upon the expanse of powers in this new universe. Bring back our favourite bio-mechanical animals. So far, the only animals we have seen are the Skull Spiders. That's a good start, hearkening back to the Toa battling Rahi controlled by Teridax, in that this year's heroes oppose creatures. But I feel that just these spiders aren't good enough. I really don't know if the Generation 2 storyline wants an emphasis on nature and creatures, but since Okoto is basically Mata Nui (the island) with a whole bunch more rocks and an ancient city, the story might as well bring back the Rahi. Now I'm not saying that the creatures should be called the Rahi again, as I'm quite open to another name, but the animals should stay. The original island of Mata Nui had a very vast and interesting environment, and this wasn't just demonstrated through mountains and lakes. The Rahi gave the island a lot of character, and whether the jungle was full of friendly Gukko birds or hostile Nui-Jaga helped set the tone. It seems that the island of Okoto wants to seem dangerous, particularly with the menacing Skull Spiders, and if so, then populate the waters, plains and mountains with sharks, bulls and bears respectively. Not only that, but it widens the focus of the Generation 2 world, and expands in the same way that new elements do. Also, we can possibly get another Rahi building competition! Yay! Bring in the Brotherhood. You know what one of my favourite things about Gen 1 was? The Brotherhood of Makuta. They were a collection of antagonists made of a green liquid who specialise in Rahi, weapon and virus creation. Sweet. In Gen 2, however, I am trying to stick to my main rule for this generation, but still keeping the appeal alive. I say that in this story, there are several fields of expertise in this universe, and maskmaking is one of them. Like the new Makuta, each of these masters become corrupt for... whatever reason, and plague the inhabitants of Okoto or whatever new location with their creations. These skills, each with their own, made-up names, should be the following: Rahi Creation, Weaponsmithing, and Energy Crafting. I think that these skills will add some variety to the threats our heroes will have to face, hopefully toning down the dominant use of shadow. With these also come a lot of potential for new enemies, and, yet again, expanding the lore of this new story to become as awesome as Gen 1 was. So, that concludes my surprisingly popular topic. Am I fanboying too much about the return of these Gen 1 story aspects, or are these inspired? Let me know!
  17. With Bionicle 2015 growing closer every day, we grow more impatient for the new parts that will define the new line. Toa weapons, masks, the new shell attachment, recolors of older parts and even some technic parts are all very new, either being released this year or being introduced next year. My question is- which parts are you the most excited about? Think about it from lots of perspectives- MOCing, rarity, awesomeness looking, etc. Discuss! (The parts that I am hyped for the most are the three length technic pin/axle combos and the mata-torso-esque shell armor.)
  18. Hello there, reader. This topic will basically be a list of my wants and concerns for the Bionicle 2015 line that is coming our way very soon. How is this any different to other posts of the exact same topic? Not much different, actually. But if you have dropped by to read my insignificant articles, you are probably still interested. So, without further ado, I'll tell you of some of the things I want and don't want to happen in this reinvigoration of Bionicle. Number 1 - Don't give Bionicle a TV show. After Tinseltown Toons animated the 2009 movie Bionicle: The Legend Reborn, LEGO have been hiring this company to make CGI television shows based off their toys. To date, Tinseltown Toons and LEGO have been paired for a few years now, and their animation style is both visually appealing and commercial worthy. So, why shouldn't LEGO let Tinseltown make yet another animated tie-in? My answer? The tone would ruin the toyline. Now, hear me out. The Hero Factory show hasn't really been anything like Bionicle, for several reasons, but one of them is the TV series. Tinseltown have to make these episodes with a much lighter and kid-friendly tone because they have to put it on Cartoon Network's channel guide. Cartoon Network aren't the kind of company that would air an episode of Breaking Bad on their channel, because they are a channel that provides entertainment for children. If we have learned anything in the past, Cartoon Network don't really want a show with adult themes, relatable emotions, and a coherent storyline on the air. Cough cough, Young Justice. Anyway, Bionicle doesn't deserve to be dumbed down for the sake of being a TV show on Cartoon Network. Number 2 - Make another online game! As we all know, most of the charm of early days Bionicle came from the beloved Mata Nui Online Game. It compelled us to explore a vast landscape and culture, among the mystery of the Makuta's influence, the tale of Mata Nui, and the danger of the Bohrok. Needless to say, this was an essential part of Bionicle's popularity. So, why not capitalise on this success and make another online game? From what we have seen of the line, it has the same potential that the island of Mata Nui did years ago, and Okoto would be the perfect place to explore. Kids and adults alike can interact with the world of Okoto, and it would really help to set the tone of this new line. LEGO, you might as well give Templar Studios another gig. Number 3 - Give Okoto some personality. A big part of making Okoto a vast landscape with a rich culture is, well, giving it a vast landscape and rich culture. I would personally like to see the Protectors be fleshed out, and that they aren't just sets put out to balance out the larger Master sets. I would like to see some of the Protectors have unique personalities, similar to the Matoran we met in MNOG, because they can't just be cardboard cutouts made to give the Masters applause. Also, give the Protectors something to do. If the Masters are taking care of every single problem on the island, then the Protectors aren't very important characters. In the 2001 storyline, the Matoran had to fight off the forces of Teridax's Rahi for hundreds of years until the Toa finally arrived on the island, and even when the Toa arrived and started fighting off the Rahi, the Matoran had still pitched in and fought against the Rahi and Bohrok swarms when the Toa were off dealing with Teridax. In conclusion, make the Protectors worthwhile characters. Number 4 - Don't slavishly follow the original line's story. From what we have seen, the new Bionicle line seems to have a story that holds a candle to the original story. , the Masters have the same names as the Toa Mata/Nuva, the villain is yet again called Makuta, and the Skull Spiders are essentially a mix of the Bohrok, as the spiders themselves can attach to the Protector's and Master's faces, and presumably control them, very much like the Krana, and the Visorak, as they are also spiders. But we are also offered a fresh new story with an interesting concept which can bring in newcomers. That is exactly what this new line needs. But there is a slippery slope with introducing new stories that are too similar to previous stories. Fans may be clamouring to see characters such as Karzahni, Artahka, Brutaka and Helryx make a return in this new line, but I personally don't want to buy sets that follow a story that would be a photocopy of a previously used script, as much as I love the characters I mentioned before. So, that is pretty much all that I want to see in the Bionicle 2015 line. How about you? If you agree with me or want to murder me with a chopstick because I don't support your opinion, let me know!
  19. We all know about the new gearbox that the Toa-Koto have but not all of us have it. Well, here is my version of the new gearbox. The Toa himself isn't very unique except for the infected Hau I like to put on MoCs. GALLERY It's simple enough and has friction because of this piece, the stud end of it goes in the pin hole in the standard CCBS body which causes it to stay in place when moved. I wanted to make as close as I could but I don't have a lot of this piece for actual friction. It's not the best it could be, but I know you smart cookies on BZP could help make it better. It would be nice if someone with all the pieces could build it themselves and pick up where I left off. As always, C&C and upvotes are appreciated. Thanks for viewing! EXTERMINATE!
  20. Last time we saw Gali, she was only two colors, this Gali's more vivid.
  21. ^Link^ (Gallery Link) front side back top okay, so its certainly not the biggest or fanciest entry to the contest thus far, but idk, i gave it a shot anyway. :u
  22. Front (Large) Head (Close Up) Head (Side) Head (Mask Flipped Up) This is just a quick MOC (a burly Toa of Ice) I built to play around with the new-style masks. I thought I'd share it in case anyone was interested to see the 2015 mask/Glatorian head connection. There isn't much friction between the mask and the head, so it does flop around. Sadly the Glatorian head has to tilt down to accommodate the Tahu Mask, which is a shame because I think the colored heads look pretty cool behind the clear mask.
  23. Here's Onua, the best I could do from the promo images viewed on a phone. And Pohatu. I think the legs look off...too big. And the feet aren't as detailed as I would like, but I'm satisfied with the product overall. Let me know what you think!
  24. in genaral this discusion is about every thing about the new BIONICLE sets. so if u want peoples opinoins on for example if ur stuck between 2 sets u want to buy u can ask people what they think of it and maybe they help u out. thats about it so talk ur thoughts/opinions. to tell u the truth i can't decide between Lewa or Tahu i like lewa cause...well.. he's lewa, but to me he doesn't seem like the lewa i think of, i like the green sets plus i think lewa is awesome, but this time i have to say Tahu cause he looks better, but i can get both its just one will be about 6 months after i buy the 1st one.
