  1. Congratulations to VampireBohrok with A Shadow Searches! VampireBohrok will receive the Ninjago set 70503 The Golden Dragon in addition to 70721 Kai Fighter. Seriously, your artwork shows a mastery of composition very much deserving of this prize! However, there are more prizes to hand out. So please congratulate the following members as well: Chuck the Toa of crazyness, winner of the BBC/SBC category with Taraka Dragon Deep Sea Encounter! [Topic] Zatth, winner of the Library category with Teenage LEGO Ninja People! Reznas, winner of the Music & Movies category with Elemental! [Topic] xccj, winner of the Games category with Build a Ninja: Ninjas in Space Game! Lucina, winner of the Comics category with the IJsidde JoB=! MT Zehvor, winner of the G&T category with Ninjago Mafia: Masters of Spacejitzu! Every one of you will receive a 70721 Kai Fighter as well. Please PM Black Six with the appropriate info! This contest is now over, and soon Ninjago month shall be as well. I do want to thank all the entrants for their dedication to the LEGO art. Some things worked well in this contest; some could have been done better. As with all events on BZPower, notes have been taken, and we'll look at them closely for next time. With Bionicle's return on the horizon, you can be sure to see more contests and events. Maybe not a Bionicle month, though; isn't that every month? Thank you once again, and congratulations to the winning ninja, Wind
  2. Personally, if they don't include some version of The Weekend Whip I'm going to be disappointed.
  3. So the category winners have been determined. Now they will face off against each other in order to determine who is indeed the greatest ninja ever. And that greatest ninja ever will then get this set. It's a simple process, really. (I know, however, that it may be difficult to determine any kind of ranking when it's a question of different media like this. But I believe in you.) This grand final voting will run until Sunday, September 28th at 11:59 PM Eastern, after which I will groggily set up the results topic. Remember, just by having placed in this poll you will receive one of these nifty things. And that deserves some congratulations. -- GREATEST NINJA FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE CATEGORIES 1. Teenage LEGO Ninja People 2. A Shadow Searches 3. Taraka Dragon Deep Sea Encounter 4. The ibsine jOb [Page 1][Page 2][Page 3][Page 4] 5. Build a Ninja: Ninjas in Space Game 6. Elemental 7. Ninjago Mafia: Masters of Spacejitzu
  4. Sooooooo, contest! and it's one i can enter for once! even though i have never seen any episodes of that ninja thing, i sorta get what goes on. something something danger something something legendary weapon something something cool vehicle time! so, i guess i just injected the ninjago formula into a new location: the place where the Water Dragon is could have been cleaner, but that was out of my ability to fix, oops. (also i think my topic starter posts look better centered, haha.)
  5. Vote here for the greatest ninja! Believe it! This final category voting will run until Thursday, September 25th at 11:59 PM Eastern! After that, there will be a GRAND FINAL POLL to determine the best of the best. Remember, the winner of each category will receive a 70721 Kai Fighter Ninjago set! -- LIBRARY ENTRIES 1. The Ninjas Play MNOG 2. Teenage LEGO Ninja People 3. The Darkness Within
  6. Welcome, one and all, to the fully playable video game entry to the Ninjago Monster Contest! Without any further ado, here we go! Objective: Venture through four environments and fight the bosses to access the Dark World and stop the Demon God! Genre: RPG (Role-Playing-Game) Controls: Z/Space ~ Confirm X ~ Cancel/Menu Arrow keys ~ Movement/Menu navigation Mechanics: If you seriously don’t know how an RPG works, how are you even using a computer? Buuut, since it’s in the rules, here we go: You wander around fulfilling various quests and having random encounters with a variety of monsters. The battle system is turn-based, meaning you take a turn to attack or defend, then the enemy gets a turn, and so on and so forth. By defeating enemies, you gain experience. Get enough experience, and you can level up, enhancing your abilities and sometimes even learning new skills. Art Style: Basic RPG Maker art style, i.e. very anime-esque. Story and Characters: The characters are Kai, Jay, Cole, and Zane from the Ninjago line of Lego products. If you don’t know their personalities already, why on Earth are you playing this game? The story is simple: Creatures from a Dark World have started surfacing in the various lands of Ninjago, prompting the ninja to try and find a way into the Dark World and put a stop to the invasion before all of Ninjago is consumed. Description: You play as the main four ninjas, travel to four different locations based on their elements, beat the elemental demons, collect the crystals, rinse and repeat until you get to the lair of the Demon God and put a stop to his evil schemes. A short, silly game that shouldn't take more than a half hour to beat. Screenshots: Follow this link to the album, and gaze upon the wonders of this game! Download Link Have fun, and happy playing! Note: I do not own any of the assets in this game. All credit for them goes to their original creators. Well, this was a complete waste of time. Barely any votes and a complete lack of feedback. I guess that's 13 hours of my life I'll never get back.

  9. Hello, one and all! I have just finished my entry into the Ninjago Monster Contest, so here it is! After a long day of fighting the forces of evil, even the heroic ninja need a vacation, so what better place to unwind and have some fun than the tropical paradise of LEGO Island? This piece features ninja Jay Walker pulling off some moves on a stunt ramp in a friendly competition with Pepper Roni. I've had the idea of featuring Ninjago characters relaxing on LEGO Island for some time, but I have now realized that vision with this piece! If you have any thoughts, comments are always welcome.

  14. Entry period ends on September 22nd. There have been some entries from this forum so far, but I'd really love to see more from you guys! Here's a refresher on the entry requirements: MUSIC AND MOVIES RULES: FAN CREATED GAMES RULES: Four days left. Make me proud, y'all. (I should have maybe posted this sooner and for that I am sorry)
  15. Here’s three. I’m just going to number it like the intro sequence does. Episode 14: Darkness Shall Rise The “ninja get jobs” montage is one of the funniest in the series – on the first watch. On the second it loses its charm. Still, the integrated plot to kidnap Lloyd flows this episode together smoothly enough – until it gets solved by Nya and Wu just happening to show up. It feels patchy. Also, kidnapping Lloyd is so last season. Pythor tried that, and he managed to get the third Fang blade out of it, but come on. Also, by now we know that only Pythor can kidnap Lloyd, and that he’s very good at it, but the other snakes fail. 13 and 14 have more nods to Zane as a robot, which I like (and consequently would like to see more of, but not quite how the reboot did, but that’s another story). Episode 15: Pirates vs. Ninja There is quite no reason for this episode to be here other than this: it’s fun, and the story producers threw it in because WHY NOT? Answer: Can’t we move on to the next important and interesting event of this story already? Although there is a nod to the Dark Island, and this story establishes Dareth’s studio, it is otherwise very very lame. It would be more excusable if it was the only filler episode in here, but…there’s…three. At least three. Surely they could have condensed all of the non-filler plot points into one episode, like they did in season 2 so many times. I am feeling the Bionicle vibe, Got to fill out this story, keep this toyline alive, I am feeling, the Bionicle vibe, It’s 2007, and we haven’t arrived. Episode 16: Double Trouble JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Insert another notoriously filler episode. This one has zero continuity relevant plot points whatsoever. It doesn’t suffer from bad storytelling necessarily, so that’s a plus (The evil Ninja have some unique characterization ). But between exploding light bulbs and video games is just a bunch of cake. Personally I prefer pie. Even Ninjago’s filler is better than Hero Factory , but it is filler. Episode 17: Ninjaball Run Not only is this episode filler, it’s also a Phantom Menace rip-off. It’s also one of the funnest, and funniest, episodes of the entire series. On the first round. Mostly because of all the recurring characters and cars that are inherently silly. Once the shock value of that wears off, there’s little left in redeeming qualities: It’s just a race. And we all know who wins. This one does have one important point: the Ninja get the Bounty back. So it’s not entirely filler: but they didn’t need a whole episode about something completely unrelated to get us there. Episode 18: Child’s Play This episode, unlike episodes previous, has a lot of focus like the episodes of season 2. Everything is focused on the joys of being a child and the pressures of having to grow up too fast. This one goes in deep: the cost of Garmadon’s evil is not just the ninja’s golden weapons, but Lloyd’s childhood. Years of fun and joy and innocence stripped away, and this episode makes us feel the cost. It’s very much one of the better Ninjago episodes, one that strips away the frosting of the previous three and makes us think. Also, meta product placement again. In context, it merits a glare because comics aren’t fully kid things anymore. Some of the “mixed-message” ness of this episode leaves a sour taste in the mouth, but the alternative to the age-up was a ton more of filler episodes, and I’m glad that we didn’t get that. More importantly, I’m glad that they used the age-up to place in a theme about childhood loss rather than lightly brushing it off as no big deal. Pro move, I think, even if it did make for a sad episode. Episode 19: Wrong Place, Wrong Time So apparently this episode launched the Mega-Weapon into space…in the past. And then we can go all time-travel paradox on the whole thing. Since the Mega-Weapon wasn’t actually destroyed, wouldn’t the ninja have gone back into the past? And then, if they had gone back in the past, wouldn’t the Mega-Weapon be in space and not in the hands of Garmadon? But the Golden Weapons used to create it would not be, which Garmadon uses to create the Mega-Weapon and send the ninja back in time. It actually makes sense. If the weapon was actually destroyed, that would be a paradox, but sending it into space does not. It’s a self-sustaining time system, as opposed to an unstable one. But you know what I mean. This means that the ninja managed to correct all of the wrong past events in the alternate timeline – that timeline has the same resolution as the main one. Of course, what I said was too confusing anyway, but that’s why everyone hearts time travel. Episode 20: The Stone Army Now, there are three things that I notice as problems with season 3 in general that season 2 lacked. One is too many filler episodes. Two is a bunch of dark and grim episodes in a series known for being lighthearted and funny. Three is not enough character development and too much emphasis on Lloyd, without even giving him character development. This episode, for the most part, is all three. It’s not too much of a filler episode, but it’s not really funny. Everything about this one is D and G. “Paper beats rock” is more of an epic one-liner than an actual joke. And Lloyd solves this one…except it doesn’t do much for him. He also meets his mom, which doesn’t do too much for him either. Misako’s excuse for abandoning Lloyd doesn’t seem to add up in my mind, but I guess she was trying to protect herself and Lloyd from problems. It’s like the Land of Elyon – “you are instrumental to the fate of the universe, so I had to hide myself from you so you would look insignificant and the bad guys won’t target you” excuse. In LoE, it’s a questionable argument because the person wasn’t arguably that important to the fate of the universe, really – and here, it’s funky because having Misako around Lloyd wouldn’t have really made him a target. Not anymore than saying “I’m the son of Lord Garmadon” which Lloyd said practically every chance he got in season 2. In fact having his mom around might have been better because she could have convinced him to keep his mouth shut, thereby making him LESS of a target for evil. Whatever. PLOT. Episode 21: The Day That Ninjago Stood Still We can’t discuss this, but FTR: biblical reference. The sun standing still and all of that. *moves on*There’s a big subversion of it though – there’s no big time stop. This story is another big fight, but that’s what’s needed. And that’s what the title refers to: only in this case, the good guys lose. Still, this episode has a lot of dramatic changes: the Serpentine are resealed, the Stone Army is on the loose, and Ninjago city is evacuated. I think that might be what the title is really referring to – the evacuated city is now still. That’s a big contrast to the earthquakes at the beginning of the episode though. And Garmadon starts the doomsday countdown that was frozen all those years ago, the opposite of standing still. IMO this title just doesn’t fit the episode. And why didn’t the stone army come alive long before Serpentine entered? Wouldn’t they just storm out as soon as the door was opened? PLOT. FLAWS. Anyway, I like the Sensei Wu/Misako character dynamic, even if the shippers will take it too seriously. Episode 22: The Last Voyage Zane appears at the beginning of this one – cue him being important. This one’s a really nice one –even if Zane’s father’s “undeath” qualifies as a Deus ex Machina. We already know that Ninjago has strange tea, but this is a bit over the top. The falcon being attacked and the resolution to this one are slightly patchy, but it can be overlooked based on the heart-warming ending. Also, every one of these Garmadon cameos makes him seem more brainless by the minute. I thought he was the guy who tricked the ninja into getting him out of jail, but you know. Super-weapon? Most generic villain ploy ever. Episode 23: Island of Darkness Popcorn? Seriously? Mood whiplash. This story is grand and epic at this point. We left the comedy behind like 4 episodes ago. Getting the storyboards out of the back attic? Also, what does “remake Ninjago in my image” even mean? Nobody seems to be clear on that, not even Garmadon. He just takes whatever suggestions the Overlord gives him. Also, why do the ninja NOT retain these elemental powers after defeating the Overlord? Epic episode is epic. Episode 24: The Last Hope Epic episode is epic. Misako is a cool character, and I like the scene between her and Garmadon. Holy kanoli? Okay, so how would the NRG True Potential forms help here? Serious question. It’s easy to forget – the ninja had a vehicle to get them to the clock, so I’m not sure how they would help, but I keep hearing this as a criticism of this episode. I like the book ends of Nya being kidnapped at the beginning and the end of this series, but cheering someone’s kidnapping feels bad. Episode 25: Return of the Overlord Ugh. I like Lloyd’s attitude at the end of it though. Episode 26: Rise of the Spinjitzu Master Ok, wait a minute. Ninjago city is evacuated, as per The Day Ninjago Stood Still, so why did the Dareth scene from last episode and the scenes from the beginning of this episode happen? I guess everyone went back to Ninjago city once the dust settled. And what happened to the ninja’s swords? Also, the Seventh Toa beat off and killed the ultimate evil, only for him to reappear…oh wait, wrong franchise. Kai gets to make the big motivational speech again. Note this: it’s more important later when I get to the rebooted series. Final Thoughts: This season begins with a lot of filler, and then eschews the comedic angle for sweeping epic and tense drama. The filler is light and sugary, with a lot of concepts thrown in there just for kicks, and the drama is dark and brooding, and tense with a lot of suspense. However, the suspense and tension is so long it can lead to drama fatigue if you watch straight through. After the Last Voyage, the story is hard to put down, and I almost wish that the countdown to the FINAL BATTLE was shorter. Also, trying to throw comedy into the dark, tense, and sinister atmosphere, which they did, comes off as forced and stumbling. Fortunately, they didn’t do a good deal of this, and allowed epic Ninjago to be epic.
  16. I was thinking of an idea that the NINJAGO storyline could try something new. I was thinking of the show having a timeskip when the character's story archs are finished. Let me explain. Let's say NINJAGO has some kind of series fanalie but it returns but entirley new with a new cast of characters to replace the old ones. We wouldn't feel bad about it because there was closure in the original ending. Maybe the show could keep in Wu, Garmandon, and maybe an older Nya or Lloyd trying to train a new four boys to become the next Masters of Spinjitzu. A lot of action shows and anime do this idea really well! (Like Power Rangers and Digimon) So I think NINJAGO could do it too.
  17. I've got some good news for you all! Toys "R" Us in the United Kingdom is supplying a brand new exclusive polybag for us Ninjago fans. What is it, you ask? One containing the one and only Dareth (EXCLUSIVE ALERT), one of his fake trophies, and a Nindroid. That's right, THE BROWN NINJA! I know a lot of us are looking forward to getting it. Hopefully, this will appear in the USA soon. Check it out! http://brickset.com/article/12295/new-ninjago-polybag-in-tru-(uk) Also, feel free to discuss Dareth as a character here. What do you think? My opinion, personally: Yaaaay! Now if only we could have Misako, or Dr. Julien (if he were still alive). Or Brad Tudabone. Or the Mailman. Basically, there are a lot of minifigures from the show that they could make, who are just as important as Dareth.
  18. Here's my entry for the Ninjas in SPACE competition: Jay and Zane take a look back at Ninjago's early years. Things sure were weird back then... Ninja Memories I hope you like it!
  19. The Darkness Within Sensei Wu led Lloyd through the dark, thick forest of a very remote part of Ninjago. He hadn't been in this forest for a very long time, nor had he spoken of its existence to anyone. He had also stayed quiet about he and Lloyd's destination in it. The fewer people who knew about where they were going, the better. Behind him, Lloyd was wondering many things. He wondered why Sensei Wu insisted on the young Ninja only bringing a sword and couple other supplies on their trek. He also questioned why the other Ninja were not invited to come with them. If there was a threat in this forest, why were they the only two going to face it? "Their paths are their own." Wu had told him when Lloyd asked. "This path leads to a test. One only for you, Green Ninja." Lloyd nodded at the reply, but deep down he didn't understand it. He was the Green Ninja, destined to save Ninjago from his Father, the evil Garmadon. He had expected intense training, grand adventures, and the coming day where he would face his father in the battle of all battles. If anything, he had expected to his journey to be a grand one. But he didn't expect it lead him through this dark, vine covered forest. "So what kind of test is this?" Lloyd ask Wu. "One that you need to take." The Sensei replied. Lloyd couldn't help but hear the hint of hesitation in Wu's voice. It was as if something in this forest was making him nervous, which was something Lloyd wouldn't expect from the wise one. Wu bushed away a cluster of vines to clear the pathway. He wasn't sure if Lloyd was ready for the challenge that the Sensei was leading him to, but he had to make sure Lloyd was armed with the knowledge he needed not only for the day that he faced Garmadon, but also for his life afterwards if he succeeded in that final battle. He had to make sure Lloyd understood what true power could do to someone unprepared for it "I just hope it doesn't lead him to his death." Wu thought. The Sensei and Lloyd kept going for another two hours before coming to a stop. The path ahead was blanketed in a thick fog. A strong wind that blew through the trees and into the fog, but it didn't even move the fog a little. Lloyd may not have been the most experienced Ninja ever to exist (at least, not yet anyway), but even he could tell that this fog was covering a location that was unnatural to this region, and possibly nature itself. Wu turned to the young Ninja and pointed into the fog. "This is the path that you will continue down to meet your test. It will lead you to a field littered with trees and boulders. I will remain here." "What?" Lloyd exclaimed. "I have to go in there alone! Why won't you come with me?" "Because this something you have to do alone." Wu replied. "I will enter only when it is the right time for me to do so." Lloyd gave the Sensei a puzzled look. Wu turned from the Green Ninja and shook his head. "This is a place of evil, a place that I wish it didn't have a reason to exist." He went on. "But sadly it does, which is why you must go in there." "What kind of test do I have to pass in there?" Lloyd asked in confusion. "It's not about passing it, Lloyd." Wu said worriedly. "It's about understanding it." ******* Lloyd cautiously entered the new environment. As Wu had told him minutes ago, the fog was covering a field littered with trees and boulders. What Wu hadn't told him was that the ground had changed from muddy to very dry ground, which was fine with Lloyd. He could only see a couple feet in front of him. He thought about using his Spinjizu to try to remove some of the fog, but then realized that could reveal his location to any enemies that could on the field with him. Because there had to be an enemy of some sort in here, right? That had to be Sensei Wu's test. Lloyd was supposed to overcome some threat in this fog covered field, so that he could better hone his powers. "That has to be why I'm here." Lloyd thought confidently. "I must be here to defeat some foe to get a better understanding of my powers. That has to be what he meant." The Green Ninja's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of metal scrapping against one of the nearby boulders. Lloyd turned to the noise, but the only thing he saw was darkness. He then heard rustling in the nearby trees, as if a figure was swiftly moving through them. Lloyd turned again, but once again was too late to see what was moving around him. Lloyd pulled out the sword that Wu had given him and pointed out in front of him in a defensive position. He had no idea what was moving through the trees, but if it was a threat to him, the young Ninja would ready for it. "Garmadon." The name echoed through the trees, the voice saying it in a haunting tone. The mention of the name caught Lloyd a little off guard. Not only was 'Garmadon' his last name, it was also the name that his father went by. Could it be that Lord Garmadon, his father, was here now? "Garmadon." This time, the voice came from behind him. He turned around quickly, sword at the ready, and this time got a glimpse at his tormentor before he vanished into the fog. He looked to be human, roughly the same height as the Green Ninja. He also appeared to be wearing a black cape with a hood covering his face. "Show yourself!" Lloyd demanded. His voice bounced through the trees like a roar. "I did, for a time." Came the reply. Lloyd's eyes widened in surprise. Was it him, or did the voice of his foe sound a little too familiar? It wasn't the voice of his father or a Serpentine, or even of any of the other Ninja. But something told him that he knew this voice. So couldn't he place it with someone's? The sound of a cracking tree branch made Lloyd turn to his right, only to find his foe standing next to him. The cloaked being then lashed out with a sword of his own, only for the surprise attack to be blocked at the last second by Lloyd's own weapon. "Garmadon." The cloaked being repeated. "That is what I wanted to be called. That was the name that I wanted the other Ninja to fear!" He advanced his attack on Lloyd, swinging his sword at him with surprising strength. Lloyd blocked the blade with his own and attempted to grab the cloaked being with his free hand. He responded by pulling both blades up, slapping Lloyd in the face with the flat of his own sword. This caused the Green Ninja to stumble back a few feet. "But then you came to be!" The cloaked being said. "You suppressed me! Never again allowing me to walk in the shadows we loved!" "What are you talking about?" Lloyd asked as he backed away from his foe. "I haven't even seen you before!" "Of course you have seen me, Green Ninja." The being said darkly. "You know me better than anyone." He then pulled the hood off his head, revealing his face to the Green Ninja. He had a pale face, similar to that of his father's. He even had evil red eyes that shined through the thick fog. But that wasn't what made Lloyd gasped in surprise. No, it was that this person looked like a evil version of him! "How can this be?" Lloyd thought in horror. "How can this 'evil clone,' or whatever he is, be here before me?" Lloyd didn't have time to think of answers for his questions. His mysterious attacker rushed at him again, striking at him with this sword once more. Lloyd blocked the blows as best he could and struck back whenever he saw the opportunity to do so. Lloyd's attacker ducked to dodge a blow from Lloyd's blade. Seeing an opening, Lloyd then swung his fist, punching his apparent doppelganger in the face. He let out a gasp as he stumbled back. Lloyd kept up his attack by shooting lightning at his foe. But his opponent saw the attack coming. He raised his hands into the air, palms outward, and stopped the lightning in midair. He then raised his hands up, disintegrating the electricity before it could even touch him. "Who, or what, are you?" Lloyd demanded, aiming the tip of his sword at his foe. The evil one smiled back at him. "I am what you once wished to be, and what will become in the future!" The Attacker replied as he fired his own lightning attack from his sword. Lloyd countered it with own. Now the two of them were pushing against each other with their lightning. Lloyd could feel the pure power behind his foe's attack. He wouldn't be able to keep this up for long. He had to come up with another plan. Suddenly, he had an idea. He shut off his lightning attack, allowing the Evil Lloyd's lightning to come at him at its full power. Lloyd jumped to the side as the electricity flew past him and struck a boulder behind him, causing it to explode. Lloyd then took off into the fog, hoping that his enemy would have a harder time seeing him get away. The Green Ninja climbed the first tree he came across and got into position on a large branch. He planned to wait here, hidden in the fog and foliage, until his enemy walked under him. He would then sneak attack him from above and hopefully take out his opponent. Maybe then he could figure out who he was and why he looked similar to him. "Come and get me!" Lloyd shouted, allowing his words to echo through the field. The Green Ninja had no doubt that this would draw his attacker closer to him, so that he could take him out faster. "We already have each other, Lloyd." He spun around in shock and found his enemy right behind him, sword in hand. "You have just locked me inside." Lloyd lashed out with his weapon, but this time his opponent was ready. He blocked it with a strong uppercut, causing Lloyd to lose his grip on his weapon. The sword went flying off into the darkness. "Alright, lets see you block this! NINJA, GO!" Lloyd shouted as he activated his spinjizu powers and stormed towards his attacker. The being responded by hitting Lloyd with a powerful low kick, causing Lloyd to lose some of his focus on his spinjizu. The opponent took advantage of this to trip Lloyd with the flat of his blade, causing him to fall out of the tree. Lloyd hit the ground back first. Though the fall didn't break any bones, it had left him stunned. The attacker jumped out of the tree and landed next to him, a grin on his face that would haunt Lloyd for the rest of his life, especially with how shorten it was now appearing to be. "This...this is a trick." Lloyd stammered weakly. "You...are an...illusion of some sort." His opponent smiled. "You can't escape me, Lloyd. You once let us roam Ninjago freely. We freed the Serpentine, and embraced our father's name! Did you really think you could be rid of me so easily?" Lloyd rolled onto his side. "No, I am the Green Ninja now. I'm destined to save...Ninjago..." Evil Lloyd kicked him back onto his backside. "And after that, what will you be, hm? The most powerful spinjizu master, without a foe to face?" He knelt down next to Lloyd, a sphere of energy forming in his hands. "Power corrupts everyone, Lloyd. You fell to it once, and you will again." "I...will never...be evil again!" Lloyd declared angrily. His opponent simply smiled. "We'll just see." Everything that happened next happened in blur. His doppelganger raised his sword, with the intent finishing the fight for good. Lloyd crossed his arms in front of him, braising himself for the blow. Then a bright flash hit both fighters, blinding Lloyd for a second. A hand grabbed him, helped him to his feet, and started pulling him away. Even though he was still dazed and the fog blocked some of his vision, he could see who the hand belonged to. "Sensei Wu!" Lloyd said excitedly. He had never been so happy to see his uncle than at this moment. "Hurry!" The Sensei said quickly. "We must leave while we can!" Lloyd turned to see what happened to his enemy. He was laying next the tree, dazed. But as he saw his unconscious foe disappear into the fog, he couldn't help but notice that his body was vanishing itself, as if he had never existed at all. Wu and Lloyd didn't stop running until they were back at the entrance to the field. It was only Lloyd, still weakened from his battle, that slowed them down. When they cleared the field, both of the fell to the ground and caught their breaths. "Who was that?" Lloyd asked when he had regain his composure. "And what is this place." Wu got to his feet and looked sadly at his nephew. "This place doesn't have a name, but it is a place of necessary evil. It brings the darkness inside yourself to life, so that you can see what you will become if you ever succumb to it from within." Lloyd's eyes widened in shock. "So that was an evil version of me...that I will become one day?" "It is what you could become, if you do not stay in the light." Wu corrected. Lloyd starred at the ground, trying to grasp this new information. It did explain why he couldn't beat his foe, for he had already known all of the Green Ninja's moves. Seeing the confusion in Lloyd's face, Wu walked up to him and laid his hand on his shoulder. "Lloyd, you are good man now, but darkness once had a hold of you. It could be very soon that you will have a great power inside you, a power necessary to defeat Garmadon. But it could also corrupt you again, if you are not careful." "So...I may become like him." Lloyd asked hesitantly. Wu shook his head. "Not if you don't let your power tempt you into darkness. Not if you remember that your power doesn't make you better or stronger than anyone else." Both Sensei and child turned and looked at the fog covered field one last time. Lloyd wished in his heart that he would never have to come here again. "I brought you here so that you could see the worst in you, so that you appreciate the best in you." Wu went on. "It is a struggle that everyone, myself included, lives with. But if we remember what is really important, we will never be lost in the darkness within ourselves." With that said, Lloyd pulled himself to his feet. The two then began to make their way home, where Lloyd's true destiny awaited. ******* Notes for anyone curious: 1. I would like thank the people who came up with this contest (Ninja in Space). This is the first story I've written in years, and this contest is what gave the inspiration to come up with a story idea and write it out. So again, thanks. 2. In case anyone is wondering, the mysterious area Lloyd went into was based off the area filled with the Dark Side of the Force from the planet Dagobah from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Comments and criticism are appreciated! Edit: Fixing typo in one of my notes.
  20. I'm just going to call this one season 1, and the Serpentine one season 2, and so on to avoid confusion. And I'll see how well this works: feedback on my reviewing style is welcome, since I'm dealing with comedy here. Episode 1: Way of the Ninja We open with Kai and Nya. Kai is super-determined to become a good blacksmith. It’s evident that Kai’s father is dead, perhaps a recent passing, but not too recent. Some other things suggest that Nya might have had more training in actual blacksmithing, and that Kai is trying not to be outdone by his sister in anything. It’s possible that Nya and Kai still have weapons their father made that they’re selling. This especially shows when Sensei Wu shows up. His comment about “the fire that burns inside” obviously refers to Kai’s out-of-control emotions. Wu also wears a hat similar to the agricultural laborers in the scene, which could indicate that he actually did this sort of work for a while to avoid calling attention to himself. There’s got to be brilliant engineer in the Underworld somewhere to make those cool-looking vehicles. Those boneheads didn’t make them (given their level of intelligence), and somehow I don’t think Garmadon is big on mechanics. Garmadon Engineering Inc. Also, why did Garmadon want Nya? Later we learn that Garmadon was turned evil by snakebite; he doesn’t want to be evil. In some cases, I think he wants the ninja to defeat him so he isn’t quite so evil. But mostly, it has to do with an evil motive of wanting to lure the ninjas (particularly Kai), into a trap, using Kai’s greatest weakness. If he really wanted to win though, sincerely, I think he would have kidnapped Kai – with the ninja weakened by a third, the Green Ninja would have been less well-trained and Garmadon probably would have won. Anyway… Why try to take the weapons? If they’re well-guarded by the dragons, why go to the trouble of training ninja, if the weapons’ safety is number one? Are the skeletons such a threat that you need ninja with Golden Weapons? I suspect Wu has some “future-seeing” method that would predict a greater threat than the skeletons that would necessitate training ninja. (We do see the sacred fire later, but the Serpentine seem to take Wu by surprise. I suppose that this is not the case.) Episode 2: The Golden Weapon Dude, that dragon must have some muscular control in the jawbone area. Either that or its muscles were frozen somehow – it is possible to do that. More evidence for the “Garmadon wants the ninja to win” theory, although it can be, again, interpreted to mean G’s plan to exit the underworld. (Which is probably what the writers wanted us to think. ) Episode 3: King of Shadows Okay, this boat appears once in this episode and is never seen again… However, perhaps it turns into the Bounty by the middle of Season 2. It’s also possible that Zane is related to the secret society of engineers in Ninjago that builds stuff like this. Hence the boat’s association with him. (Zane and boats seem to go hand in hand anyway... ) It's also possible that the boat was destroyed during the events of "Home" although it isn't shown. Or maybe Sensei just borrowed it from one of Zane's friends. Who knows.) Also, we have the frozen dragon thing going on again. Someone must be freezing these dragon’s muscles. Although, in this case, it could be due to real ice. * * * As usual, the challenges to obtain the golden weapons reflect the nature of each ninja, as these things tend to do. Cole’s weapon required strength to obtain, and following orders was a part of it, and since Cole is the strong guy, and the leader, it makes sense. Zane’s required his inventiveness, more of the split-second type, whereas Jay’s used his invention. Kai’s required an intensely emotional gambit, which his character has already been established as having that problem. * * * I don’t buy that three ninja going through trees can catch up to high-speed moving vehicles. This is sort of funny on the fact that the chief skeleton can’t get his car to move fast enough to keep up with them, so it’s slightly redeemable, I guess. It’s also possible that all ninja have a super-speed power which is sort of consistent with later stuff, and would save this scene, so I’ll go with that. And what happened to Gamedon’s cool shadow power, which might have helped him later too? Oh well. I guess the shadow-face intimidation thing only works from the underworld. Episode 4: Weapons of Destiny It’s really unclear where this portal transports Garmadon to, exactly. Considering that Sensei Wu has to really get him out of the underworld later. Mini Movies: Secrets of the Blacksmith: If you watch this video in detail, you can notice some of the items that Nya uses to build the Samurai armor/suit thing later. (It’s also sort of implied that Nya is one of the secret engineers that keep contacting Zane.) “Just getting some Samurai helmets and stuff.” Also, rice paddies. Really? The New Masters of Spinijitzu: Jay loves his nunchucks. And Zane fell asleep mediating. Kai is a light sleeper, or a sleepwalker. And those boneheads did not invent those cycles. Dur. An Under Worldly Take Over: Dark Spinjitzu exists. Also the skeletons had an ancient beef with Garmedon over something before he got sent to the Underworld, which was never explored. Also Ninjago has a thing with helmets that allow people to control armies. Return to the Fire Temple: This one doesn’t make any sense. If there was an underworld exit in the Fire Temple, why didn’t Garmadon just use it? Battle Between Brothers: This one’s a good episode, nothing much insightful to say about it. I recommend watching it after the reveal that Garmadon was bitten by the Great Devourer for added effect. Final Thoughts: These early episodes of Ninjago show some of the story’s seams. Some powers/elements of these early bits seem to have been forgotten in later episodes, like the portal that was supposed to get Garmadon out of the Underworld. Also the boat. While they have some amazing moments, like the training course, there are a few logical underpinnings that are a bit loose.
  21. As the title asks, who is your favorite Ninjago character? It can be a character from the sets or a character who only appears in the storyline. If you like, you can break it up into groups and select multiple characters (like favorite Ninja, favorite Serpentine, you name it!) My favorite has been Zane since I first read the chapter book Zane: Ninja of Ice by Greg Farshtey. It did a great job setting up his personality and the mystery of his origins, and later episodes that explored these same aspects of the character did not disappoint!
  22. As was hinted nearly a year ago, Ninjago is coming back and it's coming back strong! This is a topic to discuss the new storyline as it develops. I wasn't sure whether to make this topic here or in LEGO Discussion, but I figured that since most of the story discussion is media-related (either related to the TV show or the new website) Media Discussion would be best. If the moderators disagree, they are welcome to move it. Here's the official trailer: There are more videos and character bios on the LEGO website: http://www.lego.com/en-us/ninjago Who else is excited? I personally look forward to finding out more about the new characters like Cyrus Borg and Pixal! There have already been a number of excellent drawings of Pixal from various Ninjago fans on deviantART. She's definitely an intriguing character. I hope that she eventually becomes a trusted member of the Ninja team and continues to play a role even after this story arc.
  23. For some reason, I am unable to participate in the most recent raffle. Is there some kind of cap on how many users may participate? Sorry if I sound REALLY dumb but I'm a bit of a noob here.

  25. Approved by Spink Credit to Fantasia at Shattered Mask Productions The Ninjago RPG Excerpts from Jay’s Journal Nearly a year after the defeat of the Overlord: The strangest thing happened today. I was in Ninjago City buying some final supplies for the academy when the sky grew dark. A whirlpool formed in the clouds, focused around the tallest building in the city. Then, from the center of the whirlpool came a bright purple orb. As I looked at it, it appeared there were five shapes in it. The orb flew off, and the skies brightened. A few days after the last entry: Today, The Academy of the Ninja opened, on the same grounds the Monastery once stood. Everyone was there, and many students applied immediately. The five of us ninja will be busy over the next few days. One month after the opening of The Academy of the Ninja: So much has happened in the last few days. We know who the five figures I saw in the orb are. They are evil versions of us five ninja: Lloyd, Kai, Cole, Zane and me. The evil Lloyd, (who calls himself Lord Garmadon) stole Darreth’s crown and united the Skulkin, Serpentine and Stone Army against us. Luckily for us, we aren’t alone. This is where you come in. You will take on the role of a student at The Academy of the Ninja or a member of the Serpentine Tribes, and your enemies. Rules (Credit to Peabody Sam for writing these in Dino Attack. Mostly copy & pasted from there.) Rules are important to the survival of this RPG. Breaking them will result in penalties depending on which rule and how severely it was broken. 1. All BZP rules are in effect here. This means no spamming, no flaming, etc. 2. Do not kill official LEGO Characters. It's alright if you kill your own made-up characters, but if Kai or Sensei Wu dies, I'm going to ask you to change your post. 3. Keep violent descriptions down to minimal. Instead of typing "IC: Swing, swing, swing! He swung his sword at the Serpentine just for fun, and laughed as he saw its guts spill out onto the street!", write "IC: He swung his weapon at the Serpentine, whose life came to an abrupt end." 4. Do not kill other players' characters without their consent. 5. Trainee Ninja are limited to the Ninja Glider. Trainee Serpentine to the Snake Cart, and Standard Ninja and Serpentine are limited to the vehicles outlined in the class section. Any rank can use the vehicles of a rank below them. Elements can never use vehicles of other elements or the vehicles of other factions. Unless my consent is given, they may not use any other vehicle. The same goes for powers. Trainee are limited to Spinjitzu or Fang-Kwon-Do 6. No God Modding. If your character leaps across a fifty-mile canyon, or defeats two hundred Stone Swordsmen single-handedly without breaking a sweat, that's G-Modding. Don't do it. It makes the RPG less challenging. 6a. There appears to be a bit of confusion over the term 'G-Modding'. In this context, 'G-Modding' refers to giving your character ridiculous abilities. Apparently, another definition of 'G-Modding' is controlling other people's characters. The former is what's not allowed, but the latter is allowed in this RPG. Guidelines (Credit to Dino Attack.) Guidelines are like the rules. However, breaking of the guidelines only results in a warning. 1. Instead of adding more PMs to our inbox, if you've got something you want to tell me about this RPG, do so in your post. That’s why the "OOC" part of the post exists. 2. Use "IC" when In Character (describing what your character is doing in-universe) and "OOC" when Out Of Character (to talk and discuss with other BZP members). This way, it is less confusing for other members to read your posts. For example:"OOC: I bought a 9450 Epic Dragon Battle on eBay yesterday!IC: Kai spun around in his Blade Cycle. He dodged the Serpentine Mech, and began to plan a solution to defeat the robot." 3. Please know that at times I can be extremely busy and cannot always attend this RPG. This means that we may not add your character's profile to the character list as soon as you post it. If we have not added your character's profile, do not, repeat, DO NOT hassle us or PM us to get it added. Patience is a virtue, you know, and although I admit that I lack patience, I hope you have some instead. Be considerate. 4. Do not PM your profile to me. Post it here instead. 5. If possible, make your posts medium-length. Epics are not required for each post, but posts with one or two in-character sentences don't add much to the RPG. This RPG tries to see how well you and other members can interact and take control of the story; while this can be achieved through short posts, it take far less time with medium-length posts. 6. If you are planning to leave this RPG, please let us know in advance so we may take your profile down from the character list. If you're only going on break, tell us so that I do not take down your profile. 7. Keep interaction with other LEGO themes down to minimal. It's alright if your character has backgrounds in another theme, that’s okay, but keep it as simple as that. 8. For most vehicles are they are the size of the set. The only exceptions are the Destiny’s Bounty and the Serpentine Bus, these are the size in the show. Try to keep your vehicle real. Don’t just suddenly be in it or have it appear out of nowhere. Both have equal control of all four elements and know Spinjitzu. They are the headmasters of The Academy of the Ninja. The duo are very old men, but they have incredible power. Lord Garmadon: An evil version of Lloyd Garmadon from an alternate dimension. It is currently unknown how he became evil, why he came to our dimension, or how he came here. Physically he looks like Lloyd, but with black hair, pale skin and red eyes. He controls Shadow instead of Light, and dresses in purple instead of green. Shadow can do all of the things that Light can, but is purple. Lord Garmadon posses all four dark elements, and knows the Dark Dragon Fighting style. The Dark Ninja: Evil versions of the four original ninja. Each has a dark version of their original element, which can corrupt one, or due the normal things for that element. Look like the original evil ninja from our universe, but we know they are the actual ninja from their dimension. Each has the ability to make a dark dragon, like Lloyd’s Golden Dragon ability, but they become the dragon. Each wields the Golden Weapon of their element. The Serpentine Kings: Originally the Serpentine Generals, they have received a new title from the new Lord Garmadon. Their Snake powers are the greatest of any Serpentine. The informal leader of the group is Skales, and the lesser members are Acidicus, Fangtom and Skalidor. Each carries a Snake Staff that shows their leadership over their tribe. The Five Ninja: The original ninja, Lloyd, Zane, Cole, Jay, and Kai. Each controls one element. They all teach their respective element at The Academy of the Ninja. Lloyd wears his Green Ninja outfit for casual wear, and his golden suit for battle. For more, go to the Ninjago Wiki. Nya: Samurai X. She now a weapon teacher at The Academy. If need be, she will enter the Samurai X mech again. She knows spinjitzu, but she keeps this a secret. No body knows this, not even the ninja. She also acts as the tour guide for tours around The Academy. Important Locations: The Academy of the Ninja: A school founded dedicated to the art of the ninja. It was built on the remains of the Monastery. It serves as the main base for the ninja and teaches students on stealth, mastery of their element and the art of weaponry. Forest of Tranquility: An average forest that contains a rare element: Relaxum. This element calms one down incredibly, and is being mined by the united armies. It is unknown why Lord Garmadon’s forces want it. To prevent the mining, the Fire Temple has been turned into a citadel controlled by ninja. Ninjago City: The largest city in all of Ninjago. The ninja bought the entire building that their fancy apartment had been located in, and have turned it into a branch of the Academy, where important ceremonies occur and Elite ninja live. Ouroboros: The city of Ouroboros has been completely renovated by Lord Garmadon. It has modern buildings, many walls and defenses. This is the opposite of the Academy: It is the base of the united armies. At the center, where there was once a Slither Pit, stands Lord Garmadon’s palace. The Five Tombs: The five Serpentine tombs have been converted into bases for the united armies. They have electricity and modern comforts. All are heavily guarded and nearly impossible to break into. Hypobrai entrance is located in the Nothern Provinces, and is the laboratory for the united armies. All of the tombs have been linked together, making one giant base. The Caves of Despair: The forces of the evil Lloyd Garmadon are mining a special, practically indestructible metal called Inumium here. To stop the mining, a section of the cave was converted into a fortress. It is very easy to get lost here, and many poisonous creatures lurk in darkness, so you must always have light and a map here. The Nothern Provinces: A barren, frozen wasteland, this is the location of a major battle site. The ninja control the Ice Fortress, where the Shruikens of Ice were found, and the Serpentine have a tomb here. The ninja are trying here to prevent the expirements that the united armies are performing in the Hypnobrai tomb. The Nothern Provinces are off limits to Trainee Ninja and Serpentine Scouts. The Dark Island: The Dark Island is infested with Skulkin, Serpentine and Stone Soldiers. Many cities populate the island, all controlled by the united armies. The forces of evil are mining Dark Matter here, and are refining it. Refined Dark Matter gives one red eyes and pale skin. The only base the ninja have is the Mountain of Light. The mountain that contains the Temple of Light has been turned into a huge fortress. The battles that rage here are very dangerous, so the Dark Island, like the Northern Provinces is off limits to Trainee Ninja or Serpentine Scouts. The Sea of Sand: The second largest location out of all of them, only rivaled by the Dark Island. The Sea of Sand is the blandest of all the areas, merely a desert. What it contains is of note, however. The city of Ouroboros, Ed n' Edna's Scrapyard, the Mountain of a Thousand Steps and the Anacondrai Tomb can all be accessed here. Also, dotted across the sand are many ruins. Factions: The United Armies: After arriving in our universe, Lord Garmadon stole the Helm of Darkness and took control of the Stone Army. He united the Skulkin and Serpentine together with the Stone Army to take over the world. Vehicles of separate factions are generally used only by their respective faction. The Skulkin are living skeletons that come from the Underworld. They have the ability to use elemental powers of the original four elements equivalent to Standard Ninja power. The Serpentine have four different powers: The Fangpyre, turn objects into snakes with a bite; Hypnobrai, mind control enemies; Constrictai, burrow through the ground and Venomari, make enemies hallucinate. The Stone Army are nearly indestructible warriors made out of rock that can only be defeated with elemental powers. The Ninja: The original four ninja has built an Academy to train future ninja. They are the main opposition against the United Armies, as the country of Ninjago abolished it's army many years ago, as there were no opposing sides in any war. At the Academy, there are five different choices of elements: Fire, Earth, Lightning, Ice and Light. Sign Up: If you want to study at the Academy and defend Ninjago, fill out this form. You may have three (3) PCs, and as many NPCs as you want. I recommend you have at least one ninja and one Serpentine. Your PCs have to be ninja or Serpentine, but your NPCs can be samurai, average citizens, Skulkin or Stone Warriors. If one of your characters dies, then you can create a new one. You have the story, you have the enemy, and you have the setting. Go out, and defend Ninjago.
