  1. So, I've suddenly become curious about the Toa Kaita, and have come up with a couple of questions:In some media, such as sets and comics, Wairuha and Akamai had green and red masks. In other media, however, they had silver and gold masks. Which is canon?If the gold and silver masks are canon, will all other Toa Kaita also have gold, silver, and other metallic masks?
  2. So, I've just gone back and read The Yesterday Quest. I found myself observing our manly mind-reader buddy Orde and what he does in the serial, and have begun to make an assumption on what Kanohi he wears. My theory is that he wears a Pakari. My reasoning is:There are a couple of feats he does that, as far as I'm aware, may be impossible for a standard Toa not of Stone, Earth or Iron to do, or at least very difficult to do quickly.Eg. If he was able to pick it up without being caught up to, and if it was that heavy that it had to be described as such, wouldn't he have needed the Pakari's boost to lift it so quickly? It takes effort to haul a muscly, armoured Glatorian up to a branch from the water's edge to directly above it, even for a Toa. Imagine it as like hauling a ladder made of hollow balsa wood (which is a VERY light kind of wood) over a cliff to a higher ledge, compared to a ladder made of lead. Hauling Gelu on an angle would be like hauling a lead ladder up a tree without a Pakari, and prone to failure. With a Pakari, however, he feels as light as balsa wood, and the task would be easy enough to pull off without issue.I might be underestimating Orde's strength; I have a nasty habit of doing that. So go ahead and disprove.

Note: Edited for spelling and grammar mistakes by author.Fellow denizens of BZPower- after much thought, I think I may have found a logical explantion as to why the MU's good guys do not, or, in certain interpretations, heavily look down upon, killing.I believe that it all depends strictly upon the nature of the environment created by the Great Beings for the MU inhabitants to live in. Firstly, as we saw in The Many Deaths of Toa Tuyet, there does not appear to be an established system of law and punishment in even the most "civilized" parts of the MU, such as Metru Nui. There is certainly crime (such as smuggling and forgery), but the Vahki are in place there for internal threats, though they are mainly concerned with making the Matoran get back to work.Actually punishing caught criminals such as rouge Toa seems beyond the capacities of our heroes Lhikan and Nidhiki, who actually have to take time to deliberate Tuyet's punishment, as opposed to getting her a court date, through which a judgement and punishment would be imposed. But wait, I forgot; the MU does not have any courts of law.Since Metru Nui, and indeed, the entire MU, was designed as little more than a giant circuit board, it is easy to see why the GBs did not put into place some sort of crime and punishment system. The Toa are more about dealing with external threats, and the Vahki are about keeping the Matoran in line. In a way, Metru Nui is not unlike a socialist police state. The only reason it works is because the inhabitants do not need food, and the closest alternative is easily obtained at apparently no cost. Also, everyone effectively works for the government, seeing as how Metru Nui is essentially an oversized powerplant.But getting back to the main subject, because an automated world with automated inhabitants provides the only reasonable solution to the "if but men were angels" dilemma of all societies, the Great Beings did not see the need to establish a justice system, or at least a protocol for one, since there were no criminals- only hostile outsiders or aberrants. So, we see that at least in the beginning, it wasn't that Toa weren't allowed to kill; they simply didn't need to.However, as the Brotherhood of Makuta can attest, those of the MU were not all "angels", due to the sentience inducing "glitch" that eventually pervaded all of that realm's inhabitants (dear me, I sound like a GB writing a term paper). So, we see that somewhere along the very long line of MU history, when the possibility of having to kill someone came up, the concept of "There is no need to kill" transformed into one of the key tenants of the vaguely defined "Toa Code": "Do not kill." Thus, no courts of law, because infractions by Matoran could be easily "corrected" by Vahki, and anything else essentially constituted an act of war, and that's a whole different akilini game.In the courts of the real world, Tuyet would surely have received the death penalty or at least life in prison for treason, three counts of murder, property damage, theft, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice, and I'm not even sure that's everything.This is exactly why the Order of Mata Nui was founded, and it also explains why the police, the neighborhood watch program, and the CIA have apparently switched places in this allegory (quick reference- Toa=NWS, should be Police; OMN=CIA, though essentially fills police role as well; Ta-Koro guard, Chronicler's Company, etc- Undetermined. Logically, the Chronicler's Co. would be a NWS and the TKG would be police, but it's never clearly defined as their main job is to call the Toa if they can't handle something), and why the OMN is constantly demonized for their allowance of killing and why the Toa are often seen as morons.So, in the end, the whole no-kill rule isn't about misguided honor or illogical policy- it's about an unforseen programming error.   4. I didn't see this topic anywhere else, and I thought it was a good question:So, the Matoran language is a programming language, like 0's and 1's. But I do have a few questions: first, whenever a weird word (I'll use "Vezon" as an example) is brought up, the story will quickly describe it, saying something along the lines of "vezon is the Matoran word for 'double'." The question is: are beings in the MU always speaking Matoran (with the exclusion of the Skakdi's native tongue)? Seeing as the characters tend to point out specific words, such as "inika", "vezon", etc., is the story just clarifying what the words mean? If this is true, then when a character, such as a Piraka, saw a word and the story said "if [redacted] recalled correctly, [redacted x] was the Matoran word for [redacted y]". Sorry if this is confusing.But this also brings me to my next question: if the MU beings are always speaking Matoran, how did they communicate with the Glatorian/Agori on Bara Magna, who would, theoretically, speak Agori? When Lewa was transported to Bota Magna, he encountered several Agori and was unable to communicate with them, so their language is obviously different. But Tahu and the others were able to communicate with Gresh and friends just fine. Why is this?~Tobi

Bear in mind the topic's not about them (I have no idea what the policy on reposting archived stuff is, regardless of how shortly before the site went down I posted them) so I'm going to play it safe and say "leave them alone".Anyway, obviously that's not the actual team name. Is it?Back.Awkward moment with Vano...Cehra's the next oldest and coincidentally the next shortest-serving Toa, though this is rarely commented upon. While Sona Nuian (hence her height as a Matoran), she moved to the neighbouring island of Waru Bazarin, which was overrun by Visorak. Fearing Vano and Amana to be Hordika and dangerous, she and the other Matoran of Waru Bazarin drove them out. She became a Toa when Nuara, Takal and the then-Matoran Denza arrived on the island and defeated the Visorak's leaders. Seeing little need to stay on Bazarin, she returned to Sona Nui with the others, and became close friends with Vano and Amana, Vano particularly. Suffering from a fear of weapons, Cehra uses no tool and, almost alone among the team, follows the Toa Code to the letter. This puts her at odds with the somewhat rebellious, renegade stance Nuara holds, who has no reservations about killing other beings. She wears a mask of heightened thought, which allows her to behave as if the world were in slow motion. However, as her own movements are the same speed as ever, only her reaction time changes to the observer, making it something of a "Kakama of the mind." She modelled her appearance on AmanaWell, I showed Vano earlier, so it makes sense to move on to him next.FrontLeft sideBack (not impressive, I know...)Right SideWith AmanaVano and Amana came into existance on Waru Bazarin, and both became Toa as part of a larger, 5-Toa team who were to replace the last team who had been killed by Visorak - or worse - after the island was overrun. Two members of the team were lured into a trap by the third, and as a result were brainwashed into believing they were sworn to protect the Visorak and that the Matoran were the real threat. Vano and Amana realised the trap for what it was, and were instead captured and mutated, then driven off of the island by the Matoran they tried to protect from the rest of their team. Vano is exceptionally strong for his size, but as a Toa of strong moral conviction, he rarely throws his weight around. He wears a Volitak, though he can't use it for prolonged periods, as his mutations are similar to the effects of Visorak venom, hampering his ability to concentrate.Well, Amana next.FrontRight SideLeft SideBacksidePosin'With NuaraAmana, as a result of the stress of her mutation, is mute, though despite this she tends to be the most cheerful member of the team. She has the unique ability to turn Nuara's normal attitude into one of mere mischeivousness, and gets along well with the whole team. She can control water to an amazing degree, but tires easily so usually limits herself to making a katana of flowing water with which to fight, disliking her near-effectless stun-pistol which used to be one of a pair, though with her mutated hand she can no longer hold the second. She never uses her mask (nor anyone else's), so I see no point in naming it.And finally: Team photo! (With added Takal)So, what do you think? Should I keep it shorter next time?
  6. So this theory came about when I was wondering how a sixth of a toa's power could become a full supply of toa power. I came up with this. Inside of matoran destined to be toa, there is a small chamber with a full supply of toa power. This chamber is made of a substance harder than protosteel, and can only be broken by toa power channeled through a suva, kanohi, or other channeling device.This explains why helryx was able to allow krakua to fulfull his destiny early, but not just some random matoran loyal to the order. Only matoran destined by the great being would have these chambers.I also propose that these chambers also contain mutigins of the same type the makuta use. These mutigins would transform the matoran into a toa.This is not as far-fetched as you might think. The great beings often reused stuff, including built in rohtuka spinners, and kanohi. The toa power is seperate from the size increase, as in the melding universe, the toa were the size of matoran, but had full toa power.The mutagins also tie into the last part of my theory. When a toa sacrifices their toa power, I think that their body then cleans out the virus's which causes the toa to revert to a matoran like state. But virus residue results in the turaga to be a little bigger than a matoran, and their minds are still mostly as it was as a toa, allowing use of noble masks.This makes sence because essecially, the only real difference other than mask use between a matoran and turaga, is the wisdom accumulated from time as a toa. The only time we see turaga as being significantly bigger than matoran was in 2001, and those matoran had been shrunken by the matoran spheres.Summery:My theory is that matoran destined to become toa have a small chamber inside them, harder than protosteel, that can only be broken with toa energy. The power in the toa stone is channeled through the shrine or mask, and breaks open this chamber. It contains a full amount of toa energy, and mutagenic viruses (like the makuta use) that change the shape of the matoran to a toa. When a toa becomes a turaga, they loose all their toa energy and virus, reverting them to a matoran like state (seriously, they are the same size as matoran), but the power residue and mental capacitys stay, allowing useage of noble masks.
  7. well, i finally made this, took me a while to make this, and plus to scan this. >.< Well overall, it's also a good picture, just as good as my Lewa drawing. I think tahu turned out to look like he has short legs, and the backround isn't as good, well cuz i didn't know how to make a rocky wall that good, or a lava fall.   9. So in 2008, I started writing my own BIONICLE story saga. Very basic at first, but as time went on and I got some inspiration, it exploded into this: The Legacy Chronicles.Well, it's been a year since I laid the story to rest, so now is probably as good a time as ever to do a MOC showcase.In this topic, I'm going to showcase my Toa MOCs from the series. Please note that these are all at least fourteen months old - some are even four years old - and I have no intention of going back and upgrading/rebuilding them. I'm merely showing you all what I spent a few years of my childhood on. For the Legacy Chronicles, and its many characters, this is the end. IhuOriginal form, Pit Armour, First Upgrade, Sword of the Great Spirit, BlueSpace Upgrade, Final Upgrade, TuragaThe saga's main character. Ihu was originally killed in Ko-Metru by a Nui-Rama attack, orchestrated by Makuta Tyrex, who had a vision of Ihu becoming some kind of "super-Toa". Another Makuta, Locuz, collected Ihu's remains and secretly resurrected him, using a portion of his own life-force. Ihu was also made a Toa, but one with all of Locuz's Makuta powers, as well as being totally immortal. He travels from the Pit to Karda Nui, to Irania Nui and Bara Magna, and even into the middle of deep space to try and stop both Teridax and the Disciples of Vradok from fulfiling their "destinies".Ihu wears a Great Mask of Shielding and originally carried a Sub Zero Blaster, which he exchanged for two Energized Ice Swords. These later merged into a single blade. As part of his final upgrade, his Hau was fitted with an eyepiece which grants him telescopic, thermal imaging, atomic and X-ray vision.Upon becoming a Turaga, his elemental Ice powers and his Makuta powers greatly diminished, and he lost his immortality. His sword became a Staff of Ice.AmayaMatoran, ToaSome time after Teridax's takeover, Amaya, a Ga-Matoran, became a Toa of Water, and joined the Water Council.Back when she had lived in Ga-Metru (the first time) she and Ihu had been deeply romantically...involved, and she had been devastated by his death. Strangely, upon becoming a Toa, some of her memories from this time were restored, and so she had very mixed feelings when she met Ihu again on New Krano Nui, the Water Council's moving base. During their mission on Spherus Magna, to stop Vashkov from finding the Cavern of Eternity, they became very close again, but were almost separated when Ihu nearly killed himself trying to stop a huge nuclear explosion of the Cavern's power. However, things worked out well in the end, and Ihu and Amaya became Turaga together.Amaya wears a Great Mask of Mind Control and carries a Fishing Spear and a Protosteel shield. Upon becoming a Turaga, her powers greatly diminished, and her tools became a Staff of Water, her badge of office.KaraelMatoran, ToaOriginally a journalist in Av-Iarn, the Irania Nui District of Light, Karael was transformed into a Toa for his bravery in a battle against a malicious Matoran called Ikov. He would continue to battle Ikov, and his Toa-sized alter-ego Vashkov, from the time of the Rising until the reforming of Spherus Magna.He wears a Great Mask of Quick-Travel and carries twin Sun Sabers.And no, I'm afraid I couldn't find any better images.GelikMatoran, ToaTransformed at the same time as Karael, Gelik is a Toa of Lightning. In her first day, she managed to stop a rampage of a group of huge wild Rahi, and later defeated (and accidentally killed, by dropping a stone tree on) Kreix, one of the most powerful villains in Vradok's army.Gelik wears a Great Mask of Strength and carries a Lightning Scythe.HalokOriginal Form, UpgradeUntil the Toa Krano came along, Halok was the sole Toa of Irania Nui, and he exceled at his job. He as so skilled at using his element, Air, that he could practically fly, but used a jetpack most of the time to aid his flight. During the battle against Vashkov, he recieved an upgrade from Turaga Lome, the Turaga of Irania Nui.Halok wears a Great Mask of Illusion and carries a whole host of weapons, from sticky bombs to zamor launchers, but his favourite and most commonly used Toa tool is a Laser Axe.JuulocMatoran, Toa, Helryx's bodyguardOriginally Turaga Lome's bodyguard, Juuloc accidentally became a Toa when Makuta Tyrex posed as a Turaga, acting while Lome was missing. The two of them engaged in a lengthy battle, in which Juuloc melted Tyrex's armour together and thoroughly trashed him. Juuloc later helped defeat Vashkov's forces in the lost city of Onu-Iarn, and eventually became Toa Helryx's bodyguard.Juuloc wears a Great Mask of Valor, which grants him shielding, strength and speed. Before becoming Helryx's bodyguard, he carried a sword, which he later exchanged for a staff and shield.Toa KranoFrucas, Toa of Fire, Miran, Toa of Gravity, Covoc, Toa of Stone, Kuro, Toa of Ice, Kurek, Toa of PlantlifeLed to believe that, fifty years ago, their island was destroyed and their people massacred, the Toa Krano were welcomed to Irania Nui, where they joined Halok as its guardians. Later, they would discover that their people had been taken hostage by a being called the Sygran, and so set off back into the Matoran Universe to the island of Isakrah, where they came face-to-face with the Bringer of Pain himself. Frucas was killed, but Covoc donned the Kanohi Aethra, the Mask of Protection, and was able to defeat the Sygran, leaving him for dead in the middle of some lava fields. They then set off on board the New Krano Nui, a ship built by the Water Council, and left for Bara Magna, where the Water Council were needed.KarahnGalleryWhen he was a Ta-Matoran crafter, Karahn boasted that he could recreated the Spear of Fusion. He succeeded, but upon becoming a Toa, it fused itself to his hand. Every now and then, the Spear goes a little wild, and he was cast out of his village for accidentally killing several Toa and Matoran using the Spear's power.Eventually, he learned how to control the Spear, and was drafted into the Water Council. He joined Ihu and Amaya on their quest across Bara Magna.Karahn wears a Great Mask of Stealth and carries a Spear of Fusion duplicate.VohanGalleryIn his universe, Vohan started as a Ta-Matoran called Vohon, who discovered the Vahi in Tahu Nuva' suva just before they all moved to Metru Nui. Somehow, it transformed him into a Toa of Time, and he was propelled acros the space/time continuum, until he reached the Prime Reality. Here, 40,000 years ago, he joined the Order of Mata Nui, but later "retired". He was drafted back in by Frydax during the Destiny War.Vohan wears a Vahi Nuva, a Kanohi Nuva Mask of Time, and carries a Staff of Time, as well as a zamor launcher that also allows him to focus pure elemental time energy into powerful blasts of energy.VolatileToa, Mid-possessionAn experiment by the BoM, Volatile was turned from a Ga-Matoran into a Toa of Water, Ice and Shadow. She also possessed the power to teleport, levitate and see in the dark. During a mission to Jydivia in the Destiny War, she was possessed by Vradok's spirit. She killed several members of the Order and Brotherhood alike, before being destroyed by Frydax, who used a special syringe given to him by Angonce to split Vradok from Volatile. Volatile was killed, but Vradok's spirit moved on...Volatile wore a Great Mask of Sight, which allowed her to see anything on the same terrestrial plane as her, and carried two Shadow Blades.Other ToaHelryx, leader of the Order of Mata NuiBojek, Toa of Light from an alternate universeChiron, Toa of Iron from Fort KohydroxVyleck, rogue Toa of FireThose are all the main Toa characters. Others were mentioned and stuff, but most of them were MOCs belonging to friends.   10. Introducing my first foray back into MOCing since my Hiatus, the Solar Duo. Now, keep in mind, these two are fairly simple with an emphasis on simplicity and elegance. (Oh no, plot in my Lego Bricks! D:). Kaantoe, a Toa of plantlife, has been rendered mute after what can only be diagnosed as post-traumatic stress disorder, having been captured by a rogue sect of Makuta with a gift for torture. After having his Toa Tool welded to his hand as a cruel joke, he was experimented and tortured by the sadistic beings until Matigeyed, a young Toa of Light stumbled upon their base of operations with his team whilst on a recon mission. While the other seven of them assaulted the Makuta, Matigeyed, knowing that it would be a futile effort and that there'd be no way he or any of the others would surive if he stayed, Matigeyed turned left while the others went right at a fork in the hallway of the base. While nobody on Matigeyed's original team survived, he and Kaantoe managed to escape the base before the Makuta were finished disposing of the other Toa. http://i357.photobuc...1996/Solar4.jpg Matigeyed has a built in storage function for his Toa Tools, providing greater mobility in areas where combat isn't necessary. http://i357.photobuc...1996/Solar5.jpg The basis of their team name is referencing the fact that because Matigeyed is a Toa of Light, and Kaantoe is a Toa of Plantlife, the two of them naturally complement eachother, Matigeyed's light able to empower and strengthen Kaantoe's plants in battle, leading to the name "Solar Duo".   13. This question is kinda out of the blue, but im just kinda wondering how strong each Toa team is/was, like including the nuva, Mahri, Hagah, and even retired ones like metru? I'm trying to catch up on bionicle sides stories and deeper main story by reading the books, but anyways could anyone rank each toa team, as 1 being the strongest? Edit2 11/18/11: Yeah i didn't want to trace over it because i didn't really want to ruin the great drawing I did, i just wanted to keep it plain pencil, but now i know scanners don't like pencils. And I like drawing them in set forms, because that's how the comics did, but i gave them hands so that it could be a bit more realistic. In the future, i want to make a bionicle manga, like a good one just so people could enjoy reading the story through a comic form, but i want to add ALL of the stories into it(like the novels stories), starting from year one.

  16. Vote and discuss away. Personally, I am in favor of the Toa Metru/Hordika, who could have just abandoned the Matoran and stayed or retreated their paradise island at any number of occasions, and pressed on despite the fact "that they weren't supposed to be Toa."
  17. The objective of the Great Beings was to repair Spherus Magna. Now they want their newly reformed planet cleaned of all their repair robots and the Agori's world restored to normal. Why, then, do they start by attacking Toa? Why is Marendar, the being that kills Toa, free? Do the Great Beings even know about the other beligerant races ( Vortixx, Dark Hunters, Skakdi, etc) on Spherus Magna? Do they even appreciate the fact that the Toa are the only protection for the Agori against these races easily taking them over and making them their slaves? (The Golden Being and/or the Shadowed One could easily stomp the Glatorian) I'm tempted to think that that they do not because they don't even know that Matoran are sentient, less that other beings that are sentient and out to get them?Marendar escaped, yes. But why was he even on Spherus Magna if he was in the last stage of the repair robot wipeout plan, after all the other races had been removed. They knew that he could sense Toa, knew that if enough Toa were nearby that he would escape. They created him to find Toa and eliminate them. Unless they were complete and total fools, they should have kept him away from Toa until they knew what they were doing.It seems the Great Beings do not care about the welfare of the Agori (and we all know that the robot's purpose was to restore Spherus Magna and improve their welfare) or they are ignorant of the danger the other MU races pose. It would also seem that they aren't capable of destroying the other MU races without mass uproar, and have decided that removing one race is better than none, while ignoring the fact that that one race is vital to the welfare of all the peaceful persons on that planet.And it isn't really causing much trouble, either, and probably won't...

  21. Okay this really boggled meIn Reign of Shadows I think or in the latest stories, Agonence made a machine to destroy all Toa because they thought the Toa would kill the Agori? Why would they think that?! Was because of the glitch with the Battera? Think about it...and then when he decided to turn off the machine, it left the building. The Great Beings really needed to fix those glitches. But seriously why would they want to kill the heroes?!

  23. An old story-based MOC. 12 3 4 5 6 7 8So, as stated, this one's fairly old, too. I built him for a story (also as stated), but in the story I changed the character to Halstias Bromeliad, who is also human, and now has nothing to do whatsoever with Bionicle (the story is now also something along the lines of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, for those familiar with it). Hopefully once I finish/survive NaNoWriMo I'll be able to post that story somewhere in COT. Anyways, the original character of Bromeliad is a rather sucky Ko-Matoran who is chosen by Death to save the world (and is turned into a Toa by Death). After said world-saving, his future self discovers that he must murder his past self, right after the world-saving, in order to end a brutal, everlasting war. The Bromeliad I have built is/was the future version, hardened by hundreds of years of warfare. The sword he carries is called the Sword of Sorrows, which was given to him by Death; it's a rather weighty sword, reflecting the weight of a difficult ordeal ahead for the wielder (in Bromeliad's case, killing himself). The polearm he also carries is a sick combination between four different polearms - a spear, a scythe, a poleaxe, and a Naginata. Thoughts on the MOC: I do actually like this one, despite the blatant Inika build. The greaves (leg armor) are supposed to be a bit wonky and jut out to the side, so that way he can mount, say, an armored Kikinalo. The cape isn't Bionicle at all; I got it from the Screaming Monkey Slingshot. And I'm eternally thankful for the existence of black Technic rubber bands.
