  1. Hey guys! This is part one of a Canon compliant story I'm working on, set in the middle of Chapter 3 of Bionicle Legends: The Final Battle. Hope you enjoy! Pohatu, Gali, and Takanuva flew to the east, skimming over the treacherous swamp water. The Toa of Light was careful not to touch it, having been warned by his fellow Toa about the water’s mutagenic power. As the three Toa soared through the air, Pohatu and Gali brought Takanuva up to date on what had been happening. They had arrived in Karda Nui to awaken the Great Spirit, but faced opposition from the Makuta. They had been at war with the Makuta, and encountered the Matoran of Light, some of whom had been corrupted by the Makuta. The last detail sickened Takanuva. In his time spent alone guarding Metru Nui, he had come to the conclusion that he must have been a Matoran of Light in the past, though those memories were blocked. He was no stranger to amnesia, after all, so he reasoned that these must have been just more memories that he couldn’t recover. I probably worked alongside some of the Matoran the Makuta had corrupted, he thought, they might have even been good friends. I swear it – even if it means Mata Nui stays asleep, even if I have to die trying – the shadow Matoran will be cured. “They’ll pay,” Takanuva said aloud as he flew. Looking downwards, he glanced his own reflection in the water, and a brief moment of fear overtook him. It was easy to forget, but he hardly resembled the Toa he had gotten used to seeing in his reflection. His gold traded for dark gray, his right hand sparking with shadow energy, the Toa of Light was no longer the fresh beacon of hope that Takua had become upon donning the Mask of Light. What have I become? The thought rang through Takanuva’s mind, as all his past adventures came back to him. He had recently seen a world in which he saw the capacity for evil that Toa possessed, and while he had managed to put away his misgivings, the memory still haunted him. “Takanuva!” The Toa of Light looked upwards, and suddenly jumped back in the air. For the briefest moment, he saw the face of Toa Tuyet, wearing her familiar mask of Intangibility. He hadn’t known Tuyet well, but her alternate self had opposed him in a world that she ruled. It shook him to his core, seeing how evil a Toa could become. But this doesn’t make sense! Thoughts raced through Takanuva’s mind faster than light. She died as I left! How is she here? He drew a heavy breath, but only a moment after he had jumped, he saw the face of Toa Gali in front of him instead. “I can tell something is wrong,” she said in a calm voice, “what’s bothering you?” Behind her, Toa Pohatu hovered in midair, watching on with concern behind his eyes. Takanuva hovered in midair, his eyes wide with shock. When he saw Gali approach, he must have briefly mistaken her for Tuyet, he reasoned. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed at his outburst, but he still couldn’t shake a feeling of unease. The Makuta have perverted my power, he thought to himself, I’ve been hunted down by evil alternate Toa and yet another Makuta. My people, people I’ve never met, are being corrupted and controlled, and I’ve done nothing about it. I’m tired, but the battle isn’t anywhere near- “I’m fine,” Takanuva said, interrupting his own thoughts, “just thought I saw something. That’s all.” With that, he turned back around, and continued his flight. Gali and Pohatu stayed behind for just a moment, and shared a glance at each other. Neither was convinced by Takanuva’s argument, but decided it best not to argue. With a sigh, Gali flew through the air, with Pohatu following close behind. * * * Kopaka, Lewa, and Onua took cover behind a massive tree. As they hid, a barrage of shadow attacks came from the five Makuta hovering by the tree branch across from them. For hours, the two sides had been locked in a standstill. "Any more helpful stories?” Kopaka asked, ducking as a bolt of shadow passed overhead. “I’m starting to feel like a sitting duck.” “I’ve got one,” Lewa said with a smirk, “I call it, ‘Heroic Toa Lewa Quick-Saves Everyone.’ Just watch.” “Oh, this one is my favorite,” Onua chuckled. In an instant, the Toa Nuva of Air kicked off of a tree branch and rocketed up into the air. Kopaka looked on in shock, but before anything could be done, Makuta Chirox had flown off in pursuit of Lewa. Watching as the chase began, Onua and Kopaka turned to each other and nodded in understanding. “He's taking the bait,” Kopaka muttered. As he watched the Makuta chase down the Toa of Air, he drew his Midak Skyblaster, and fired. The ball of light careened just past the Makuta, distracting Chirox and forcing him to retreat. Lewa soared back to reunite with his fellow Toa, letting out an energetic cry as he flew through the air. The three returned to their cover behind a massive tree branch, and then decided that it was Kopaka’s turn. The Toa of Ice emerged from his cover and fired a wave of ice at the five Makuta. His enemies quickly scattered to the wind, only to then fly in formation to converge on him. His unusually joyous expression dropped as the five creatures of shadow flew straight towards him. Turning back, he flew down towards the swamp, and soon found himself joined by another flier. Toa Tahu flew beside Kopaka, wearing a smug grin on his face. “Too much for you to handle, brother?” Kopaka rolled his eyes as the two dodged fire from their attackers. “Very funny. Where are the others?” "I sent Pohatu to find Gali.” Tahu quickly turned around in midair, and flung a pillar of fire at Makuta Vamprah. “What about yours?” The Toa of Ice glanced over his shoulder, and spotted Onua and Lewa pursuing the Makuta. “Closer than you think,” he said. As the two flew together in formation, they shared a rare moment of laughter as the Makuta chased them down. The two Toa weaved in and out of tree branches, flying gracefully as they dodged oncoming bolts of shadow. “Lewa must be so proud,” Tahu chuckled. As the two rounded a corner, they suddenly found themselves backed up against a pillar of rock. They both skidded to a halt, and as they began to fly back, they suddenly found themselves cornered. The five Makuta now hovered before the Toa in formation, and prepared to strike. Bitil’s mask glowed briefly, but before he could activate his power, he was suddenly struck from behind. As he scampered forward through the air, the Makuta turned back to watch as Onua and Lewa lowered to meet them. For just a moment, all was still. In an instant, it was carnage. The four Toa on each side charged the Makuta, firing blasts of elemental energy in every direction. The Makuta were quick to return fire, sending volleys of shadow at the Toa Nuva. Onua raised a chunk of Earth and hurled it, only for it to be brought to pieces by a swift move from Antroz's blade. Tahu fired a blast at Chirox, but the batlike creature parried the attack by launching a Tridax pod. Lewa was able to intercept it just in time, using a gust of wind to send the shadow leeches careening into the waters below. Kopaka sent forth an elemental attack from his blade, but Gorast's mask caused the air surrounding him to crystallize into ice. Moments later, a frozen Kopaka began falling, only to be broken free by Tahu. It quickly became clear which side had the advantage. The Toa were outnumbered and outmatched by the horde of Makuta, but it was clear that they weren't about to quit. * * * As the battle continued in the sky, a bone white, skeletal figure watched from the waters below. Stalking across stones and branches on his long, spindly legs, Krika watched as his fellow Makuta battled with the Toa and sighed, turning his gaze downwards. For just a moment, he considered leaving them to their fate. He had long been harboring doubts towards the grand plan the Brotherhood had been following, but now, the appearance of the Toa of Light in the swamp had all but confirmed what he had long suspected. The Makuta were fighting a losing battle. He looked at his own reflection in the waters below. It had been changed since he arrived, the water had mutated him into the ghastly creature he now saw. Karda Nui had changed him forever, and if he wasn’t careful, it would become his grave. So, he thought to himself, why don’t I just leave? Staring at the waters below, he remembered the stone with the Brotherhood symbol engraved upon it. If he still had it, leaving would be no trouble. He had offered it to Gali before, wanting to give her a chance. Perhaps now he could do the same. Was there still time? Could he leave his fellow Makuta to die, and escape the same fate? No, he sighed. His destiny was here, in Karda Nui. Whatever it entailed, it was his to face. As he began to hover in the air, rising toward the battle, he prepared to accept whatever destiny had in store for him. * * * “Hey! Pay attention!” Tanma cried while linked onto Toa Lewa’s back. A Tridax pod fired right towards the Toa Nuva of Air, but Tanma had been able to bat it out of the way just before it unleashed a swarm of shadow leeches on the two. “Ever-sorry, friend!” Toa Lewa said with his usual gleeful tone as he fired balls of light at the Makuta, using his midak skyblaster. “Glad you’re here, in case I get mixed-distracted.” As the two rolled through the air in circles around the Makuta, Lewa let out a raucous cheer, but found it cut short as a blast hit him in the stomach. Suddenly, Toa Lewa found his arms and legs frozen in place, as though he had been struck by a sudden paralysis. Tanma felt the blast, but disconnected from the Toa just before it hit him. He flew upwards through the air, but looked down to watch as Lewa plummeted towards the roots of a nearby tree. He started back towards Lewa, but stopped himself, as he spotted a monstrous Makuta approaching him. The Av-Matoran thought fast. With luck, the Makuta had yet to see him. He could use this to his advantage. Against himself, he chuckled lightly. This would be a rescue plan worthy of Toa Lewa’s legacy. * * * “Tanma!” The Toa of Air cried weakly, but he found his call to have no answer, as the Av-Matoran was no longer riding on his back. The Toa tried in vain to jolt his head around to look for his companion, but his focus soon shifted as his rocket boosters gave out, and his limp body plummeted towards the ground. Lewa screamed for just a moment, but stopped as he saw the tree roots down below, ready to catch his fall. It could be worse, I suppose, he thought to himself, just before he collided with the ground. His body ached in pain from the impact. Only inches of wood now protected Lewa from the waters below, and the Toa of Air watched helplessly as the black and green figure of Makuta Gorast landed beside him. * * * “Oh, this is perfect,” Gorast sneered, perched upon a tree branch just next to the Toa of Air. “I have always wanted an Air Toa for a trophy.” She pulled back her Nynrah Ghost blaster, and began charging another attack. “Hey!” Lewa just barely found the energy to talk, still struggling in vain to rise to his feet. “Listen-hear close, Makuta, for I have something you may want.” Gorast knew this was a bluff, of course, but felt compelled to entertain him. After all, she reasoned, I may as well offer him this much in his last moments. She lowered her blaster to the ground, and met the Toa’s eyes. “Well? What is it?” Lewa smirked. “A distraction.” Before Gorast could react, something struck her in the back of her head. Turning back, she came mask to mask with the green armored Av-Matoran, hovering in place as his rocket booster propelled him. “Well,” Tanma said, “I suppose this is a story for heroic Tanma?” He rushed out the last word, and quickly flew off towards the other Toa and Makuta. Gorast growled in frustration, before turning her attention back to the paralyzed Toa that lay before her. To her shock, however, Lewa was back on his feet. “Wore off, I guess.” Lewa smirked, and charged forward with his Air Sword. The Makuta blocked his attack with two of her sharp claws, and quickly retaliated with her other two hands. Lewa dodged out of the way just before she could sink her claws into him, and took off into the sky once more. Gorast chuckled, and beat her wings as she began her pursuit anew.
  2. I've been hearing this argument over and over lately that people complained the Toa Phantoka/Mistika looked nothing like the Toa Nuva even though "no one complained that the Toa Metru looked nothing like the Turaga or that the Toa Inika looked nothing like the Matoran or that even the Toa Nuva looked nothing like the Toa Mata." And I'd just like to get into why I think that's an incredibly flawed argument. There is a difference to be made between the reintroduction of the Toa Nuva in 2008 and virtually any other transformation we've seen throughout Bionicle's entire run. When the Toa Mata came out in 2001, we'd barely had a year to get used to how excited we were about them when they were transformed. And when they were transformed, no one complained because we were barely getting into Bionicle as a theme. The Toa Nuva were new territory. Everything was new territory. Yes, their Kanohi were entirely different, but their builds were literally identical to the original sets' and so were their color schemes, so everyone could clearly make the connection based on how little existed of Bionicle at the time. Then, for a whole another year, it was just the Toa Nuva as the main and only good guys in Bionicle. They even got their own movie which was epic. The Toa Nuva were beginning to set in as the first and foremost faces of Bionicle. Then 2004 came and we were all (literally) shocked that the Turaga used to be Toa. And when we saw the Toa Metru, they had barely anything to do with the Turaga in terms of design, but that was okay because a) that was entirely new territory and b) the Toa Nuva were at the back of our minds. Then 2005 came and the Toa Metru which we barely had time to get used to were transformed into the Toa Hordika, which once again no one complained about because a) we didn't get nearly enough time to get emotionally attached to the Toa Metru, visually speaking and b) the Toa Nuva were still at the back of our minds and we were already craving to "go back home" to Mata Nui. Then 2006 came and the Toa Nuva supposedly returned only within the story and only to get their butts handed to them (even though they're supposed to be the strongest Toa in existence!?), so that left a bit of bitter feeling. We wanted to see the Toa Nuva but only ever read about them. Then the Toa Inika came and they looked absolutely nothing like their former characters but no one complained because a) this was new and (somewhat) exciting territory and b) the Toa Nuva continued to stay at the back of our minds. 2007, Toa Inika to Toa Mahri, barely any similarity between each set. No one complained because a) we were already used to transformations and how they completely changed the appearances of characters and b) at this point we were dying to see the Toa Nuva again instead of just reading about them. Enter 2008 and neither the Phantoka nor the Mistika looked anything at all like the Toa Nuva. Everyone complained. Is it really that surprising? Bionicle virtually began with these characters and their appearance as the Toa Nuva was the one that had set in the most. For nearly six years we'd thought of the Toa Nuva as their 2002 set forms and/or their 2003 movie forms. This was virtually the only instance of a Toa team existing for so long and taking part of the story without any indication whatsoever about their appearance changing. And then they looked nothing like those six heroes that had been at the back of our minds for six years. Of course that's disappointing. Their reintroduction was (for the first time in Bionicle) supposed to feel like coming home, not exploring new territory for the 100th time. It wouldn't have cost anyone anything if they were to simply make their masks resemble their Nuva forms. That's it. That's the only thing that needed to be done for everyone to be happy. Nobody would've complained if they saw the Hau on a less-than-original Inika build, because the Hau screams home and were dying to come home. It would've been the first time LEGO transformed a Toa team with the same masks, but it was also the only time that that was genuinely required. And they entirely disregarded that. And that's my two cents on the matter.
  3. A few friends and I teamed up for a revamp of the Phantoka wave from 2008 (Mistika may or may not be coming soon). Any of you familiar with me won't be surprised by which character I took a swing at. For my interpretation of Pohatu, I took things down a "bioformer" route, taking his twin-rotor helicopter inspiration more literally than the set did. Interesting how only recently an official Lego Osprey was cancelled which had the exact same colour scheme! Make sure to check out the other mocs in this collab, to which I have placed links in the description - and massive shoutout to Buttloaf for doing a fantastic job on the photo editing.
  4. The drawing in my signature is ten years old. With Bricklink I've finally been able to make them a more vivid reality. The Toa Nuva with their adaptive armour in default form, often described as the shape and build of their original Nuva form in the colours of their 2008 sets, but of course there has never been an official image of that. So here they are in excruciating detail; Part-for part they are a recreation of the 2002 sets but with 2008 style socket joints and Av-Matoran style feet and 2008 standard for technic parts, i.e. red and blue pins, grey axles etc. How the colour schemes of the Phantoka and Mistika sets are interpreted and incorperated into each set are unique from one to the next, but I tried to keep a logic from one to the next. Here's a brickshelf gallery including alternates with the two different types of silver on Bricklink (neither one is exactly the pearl silver from post-2006) And also pictures with their original Toa Tools for everyone except Onua (I haven't been able to find a custom Quake-Breakers anywhere). The custome made Nuva masks, tools, Nuva armour and heads come from a reddit post coutesy of u/Krakwyaka and u/aresnir. More images in the spoiler tag, just so this post isn't huge:
  5. Helryx was mentioned and talked about in 2007, and made her first physical appearance in the story in 2008. In 2010, Greg Farshtey said Helryx "probably" has a build like the Toa Mata, implying that's the standard form for Toa who are constructed and were never matoran. He declined to set this in stone, or say that this was for certain; probably because he didn't want to invalidate anyone's MOC. Here is it paraphrased on Farshtey Feed and here it is copied in posts from 2010. This apparently older source is lost to the sands of time. Nonetheless, my own version of Helryx was pretty well locked in since then, and now that an appearance is about to be canonized some ten years after the fact, I guess I better get mine out there before it's not a matter of opinion any more. I know there are more original designs out there, but this one was more about being logical and straightforward. Fathful to the Mata build, but stylistically consistent with the characters introduced in 2008. - Toa mata build, per the Farshtey Feed post. - Uses the shoulder and hips joints from 2008, the time of her first appearance in story. - The Av-Matoran version of the Toa Mata foot, as has been standard since 2008. - Red, blue, and tan pins as were standard in 2008. the open-ended ball joint, standard since 2006.- Hydraxon's "mask" as a placeholder mask. - No hero factory/CCBS parts or anything from after 2008. Turns out that long pin in her left shoulder is newer than I thought. I dunno how long it takes a brickshelf gallery to become public these days, but here is it. It contains some other versions and minor variations, including an all-2001 version which i think is possible to build in real life. The one your seeing here is called Helryx 9 in the gallery. I don't think I'm going to win the contest or anything, but now that Bricklink makes it possible, and this is my last chance to get the version in my head out there. Are we still not allowed to mention other sites? Because I want to credit u/SwampKryakwa and u/aresnir from somewhere for providing the mata head and eyes, which bricklink doesn't have on its own.
  6. Hi, guys! I know that Bionicle had ended two years ago sadly, but let’s be happy about Bionicle for something else. You see, this year, 2018, is the 10th anniversary of Bionicle’s 2008 storyline, which involved the Toa Nuva fighting against the Brotherhood of Makuta in Karda Nui, which is the heart of the Matoran Universe, where they will reawaken Mata Nui. I know that this year doesn't have anything Bionicle-related (well, there is this set piece that has the picture of the island of Mata Nui with its name in Matoran, and the piece is in that new The Lego Ninjago Movie set with the docks in this year, and there is an article talking about The Legend of Mata Nui computer game recently), but let’s celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2008 storyline. That would enlighten you more. Let me tell you the 2008 storyline: The storyline started when a group of three bat-like Makuta, the Makuta of Metru Nui’s evil species who form an organization called the Brotherhood of Makuta, Antroz, the field leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta, Vamprah, the silent one, and Chirox, a scientist who fights dirty, attacking a place called Karda Nui, in a bunch of villages inhabited by a type of Matoran called the Av-Matoran, the Matoran of Light and the very type that Takua from 2001-2003 belonged to. The Makuta did this because they want to prevent them from becoming Toa of Light, so they use pods called Tridax Pods, which unleash mutated Kraata called Shadow Leeches, to turn the Matoran into a new type of Matoran called Shadow Matoran, which are evil and shoot Shadow powers. The Av-Matoran shoot light, and they can change color. During the attack, the Makuta noticed Matoro from 2007, who was using the Kanohi Ignika, aka the Mask of Life, to revive the Great Spirit Mata Nui, who was dying, the Makuta went to get there, but when Matoro sacrificed his life to use the mask, this created a flash of light so bright that that blinded the Makuta nearby. The Makuta can’t see because of that. The Av-Matoran are trying to defend themselves from the Makuta’s attack, but they are losing. However, the Toa Nuva from 2001-2003, who are given magical armor called the Adaptive Armor by Artakha, are sent by him to Karda Nui to continue completing their mission to reawaken the Great Spirit Mata Nui. When they arrived, they notice the battle, so they help the Matoran fight against the Makuta. The Toa Nuva start remembering their lives as the Toa Mata in Karda Nui, but they can’t remember more. When the Toa learned that after Matoro used the mask, it fell into a swamp below Karda Nui called the Swamp of Secrets, the Toa decide to split up into two teams of three to get things done. The first team is Kopaka, the leader in there, Lewa, and Pohatu, while the other team is Tahu, the leader in there, Gali, and Onua. Kopaka’s team will protect the Matoran from the Makuta while the other team will go to the Swamp to get the Mask. The first team of Toa Nuva and the Makuta that they are fighting are called Phantoka, which is Matoran for “spirits of the sky”. Each of the Toa is teamed up with an Av-Matoran with the same color as the Toa does, as the Av-Maotran can combine with the Toa by attaching his body to the Toa’s back, like a piggy back ride. This allows the Av-Matoran to have an extra light-based power, and the Toa can read the Matoran’s memories. Kopaka teamed up with Solek, who likes to learn about the Toa Mata when the Toa were on Karda Nui in the past and was best friends with Takua. Lewa teamed up with Tanma, who is the leader of the Av-Matoran. Pohatu teamed up with Photok, who is brave. The Toa’s armor adapted to Karda Nui’s skies, as the armor gave them aircraft-based equipment that can make them fly like aircrafts. Plus, each of the Toa has a new weapon that they called a Midak Skyblaster, which can shoot powerful spheres of light. Each of the Makuta, who can fly because they are based on bats also is teamed up with a Shadow Matoran with the same color as the Makuta does, as the Shadow Matoran can combine with the Makuta by attaching his body to the Makuta’s back, like a piggy back ride. This allows the Shadow Matoran to have an extra Shadow-based power, and the Makuta can read the Matoran’s memories. Also, since the Makuta are blinded, they use the Matoran as their second eyes. The Matoran are mutated by their fellow Makuta named Mutran, who is a crazy scientist who created the Shadow Leeches, to look like monsters. Antroz teamed up with Radiak, who was close friends with Photok when he was an Av-Matoran and is mutated to be four-legged, like an animal. Vamprah teamed up with Gavla, who didn’t have any friends when she was an Av-Matoran and is the Av-Matoran to become a Shadow Matoran. Chirox teamed up with Kirop, who was the leader of the Av-Matoran when he was one of them and when he became a Shadow Matoran, Tanma took his place as the new leader of the Av-Matoran. Mutran also teamed up with a Shadow Matoran named Vican, who was a Le-Matoran and is his assistant. Vican can combine with Mutran, but he doesn’t get extra powers because he was never an Av-Matoran. Meanwhile, the Mask of Life is in the Swamp, and, as it has a mind of its own, is thinking about Matoro’s heroism, which inspired the mask to become a Toa like him. The Mask used microorganisms in the Swamp to grow a Toa-like body, weapons, and a flying board-like vehicle called the Skyboard and then called itself Toa Ignika and a “he” to honor Matoro and some Toa guy before him, who is a male, too. Toa Ignika flew out of the Swamp to help the Phantoka Toa while the Mask is silver. So, the battle between the Phantoka groups begins. Toa Ignika helps the Toa during the battle. Toa Ignika doesn’t know how to talk, but the Toa and Makuta later on discover that Toa Ignika is wearing the Mask of Life. The Toa wants to destroy a place called the Shadow Leech Hive, where the Shadow Leeches are made, and Toa Ignika is able to do it for them. The Makuta sent Vican to summon another fellow Makuta named Makuta Icarax, the very Makuta who was in a serial called Toa Nuva Blog in 2007 and wears the Makuta of Metru Nui’s mask called the Kanohi Kraakhan, aka the Mask of Shadows, to help them win the fight. All of the Makuta have Tridax Pods contains in their rib cages, and drop them to unleash their Shadow Leeches, like atomic bombs. Toa Ignika devolves Icarax from a being who is made of a substance called Antidermis in gaseous form to his original bio-mechanical form, hurting Icarax. Meanwhile, Tahu’s group are traveling through the Swamp to find the Mask of Life. Along the way, they get attacked by another group of three Makuta who are based on swamp insects. These Makuta are mutated by the swamp’s magical waters called the Pit Mutagen, which made them lost some of their powers, including shape-shifting. These Makuta Krika, the four-legged cricket-based leader of the group who needs heat to survive, Gorast, the four-armed mosquito-based Makuta with a fierce temper who needs someone’s inner Light to survive, and Bitil, the ambitious beetle-based Makuta. Both groups are called Mistika, which is Matoran for “spirits of the mist”. Each member of the groups is armed with a gun called the Nynrah Ghost Blaster. The Mistika Toa’s armor gave them small jet-based equipment to fly while the Makuta can fly. The Makuta’s Blasters can control any mechanical being or object while the Toa’s can create constructs made of mental energy. Later on, the Phantoka Toa are reunited with the Mistika ones while the Phantoka Makuta are reunited with the Mistika ones to continue their fight. Before the reunions happened, the Toa Nuva discovered and collected six keystones that tell instructions on how to reawaken Mata Nui when they are put together, like puzzle pieces. The Phantoka Toa got three of them in the villages while the Mistika Toa got the other three in the swamps. Before Icarax went to Karda Nui, he used a Shadow Leech that was meant to turn a Matoran in Metru Nui named Ahkomu, but the Leech went to turn Takanuva, the Toa of Light from the 2003 storyline, evil instead. The Leech tried to turn Takanuva evil, but it only sucked up half of Takanuva’s inner Light because Takanuva stopped the Leech by hardly destroying it. Takanuva has the power of Light and the power of Shadow, and his gold armor turned dark gray. The power of Shadow also makes Takanuva angry and want to hurt his enemies a lot or kill them. He was found by three members of the Order of Mata Nui, Helryx, a Toa of Water who is the leader and the first Toa, Krakua, the Toa of Sonics, and Brutaka, from 2006 and 2007. Helryx told Takanuva about the Toa Mata’s origins and to go find and warn the Toa Nuva that if they reawaken Mata Nui, Karda Nui would have magical storms called the Energy Storms that can destroy everything in the place. Brutaka used his Mask of Dimensional Gates to try to take him there, but the mask is damaged from the Pit Mutagen, so it took Takanuva to a pocket dimension before he end up in two other alternate dimensions before he can arrive to Karda Nui. During the journey, his magical staff got replaced by a magical lance that can use and increase his Light powers, and then he got a thing called a Virus that can make him fly for some time before it will wear off. He finally went to Karda Nui, and when he got there, the place grew him Hulk-sized, as it also grew the Av-Matoran in there bigger. During the Toa Nuva’s battle, Krika kidnaps Gali and told her to get out of Karda Nui before it is too late before Takanuva saves her from him. Takanuva reunites with the Toa Nuva and helps them fight the Makuta. He warns them about the Energy Storms. Meanwhile, Toa Ignika is guarding Icarax since Icarax was weakened by the devolving. However, Icarax tells Toa Ignika that the Mask of Life is doing a countdown that will destroy all life in the Matoran Universe, which is why the Mask is silver. This causes Toa Ignika to go to and warn the Toa Nuva about the countdown. Toa Ignika learned how to talk, so he is able. Plus, he tells them that he isn’t just wearing the Mask of Life and he is the Mask itself. The Toa go to a dome-like building in the Swamp called the Codrex, where they will reawaken Mata Nui, but they fight the Makuta who were guarding it first. The Toa use the Keystones to unlock the entrance of the Codrex to get inside, but Antroz follows them. The Toa Nuva start remembering the place from their past, bringing back their lost memories, and then they find three flying vehicles, the Rockoh T3, Jetrax T6, and the Axalara T9. Pohatu chooses to drive the Rockoh, Kopaka Jetrax, and Lewa Axalara, but Antroz stole the Jetrax, so Lewa and Pohatu use their vehicles to fight Antroz to get the Jetrax back. Takanuva wants to cure the Shadow Matoran and himself while fighting the Makuta. Meanwhile, Icarax makes an alliance with Krika to go rogue on the Brotherhood in order to ruin their leader’s plan by destroying the Codrex, so Icarax will become the new leader of the Brotherhood. However, Gorast and Vamprah stop Icarax by disrupting his teleporting power to turn him into atoms, killing him. Mutran makes a new Rahi called a Klakk, which can create sonic blasts to attack, but this creature escapes after that. It uses its powers to cure Vican back to being a Le-Matoran. Vican no longer serves the Makuta, so he decides to help the good guys by telling Takanuva about it. Takanuva uses the Klakk to cure all of the Shadow Matoran in Karda Nui back to being Av-Matoran and himself back to being the Toa of Light. He also warns them to leave Karda Nui because of the Energy Storms, and Krika becomes aware of this. Kopaka gets the Jetrax back because Antroz left it. Krika tries to warn his fellow Makuta about the Energy Storms, but Gorast doesn’t listen and kills him instead while going crazy. Meanwhile, after the Toa Mistika read the instructions in the Keystones, they plan to have Toa Ignika reawaken Mata Nui in the Codrex, but Toa Ignika refuses because it could mean sacrificing his body to do this. However, they convince him to do this for the good of the Matoran Universe, so Toa Ignika agrees, as he sacrifices his body to go back to being a mask and reawakens Mata Nui. The mask returns to gold, as the countdown is cancelled because the reawakening causes the Matoran Universe to be balanced again. This also causes the Energy Storms. The Toa use the vehicles to get out of Karda Nui. The remaining Makuta can’t get out of there, so they get killed over there, as they feel betrayed by their leader, who sent them there in the first place. The Toa returned to Metru Nui, and then they are honored by Metru Nui’s people for completing their mission finally. Meanwhile, it is revealed that the Matoran Universe is inside a 40-million-foot-tall robot, which is Mata Nui himself. He rises from the ocean where the ruined island of Mata Nui was before his face destroyed it. He is reawakened finally after 1,001 years of sleep caused by the Makuta of Metru Nui in the 2004 storyline, and the reawakening was the very goal that the Toa Nuva has been doing since the 2001 storyline, the very beginning of Bionicle 2001-2010. However, things are not looking good. The stars above Metru Nui form a constellation that shapes like the Mask of Shadows, as the Makuta of Metru Nui, whose real name is Makuta Teridax, takes over Mata Nui’s body and the Matoran Universe by getting Mata Nui’s spirit out of the body, and then Makuta put the spirit into the Mask of Life before he banishes both of them out of the Matoran Universe and into outer space. So, Teridax’s tyranny begins, as his plan to take over the Matoran Universe is completed. The good-hearted people in the Matoran Universe have to work together to rebel against Teridax. Meanwhile, the Mask of Life is in outer space while the people have Mata Nui’s words in their heads: “I will return.” The End of the 2008 storyline, and the 2009 storyline begins as Mata Nui ends up in a new planet. To celebrate, let me ask you this: What are your fond memories about the storyline and/or what do you like about it? For me, I like the canister sets. They look awesome! I like the Toa Nuva’s new looks and weapons, even though that their color schemes are sort of off. I get that the Phantoka Toa have a gray secondary color and the Mistika ones have a silver secondary color to show that their armor adapts to certain environment, but where’s their original secondary colors from 2001-2002? Doesn’t feel classic sort of. Also, why all of the Toa’s eye colors green? That doesn’t feel classic, either. I like the new mask shapes, but they don’t look classic either. Plus, Gali’s mask with the waffle eye looks a little weird, Kopaka’s eye scope is switched from right eye to left eye for some reason, and Pohatu’s mask looks like the Mask of Time. Plus, why the red axle pieces in the Mistika Toa’s masks? Is that necessary? However, I do like the visors and the red piece on Kopaka’s Mask. I love Kopaka’s wings and blade with the laser targeting piece, Lewa’s jets and sword, Pohatu’s propellor weapons, Tahu’s Rotating Blades, Gali’s targeting piece, Onua’s black piece with the laser targeting system and shield, and the Mistika Toa’s little rockets and weapons. Love the designs on them, too. It’s cool that you can use Pohatu’s propellers to snap like a crab and turn them like propellers. Pohatu’s arms are a bit weird because of how they are bent. Pohatu is orange in the storyline instead of brown. It’s weird that half of the Toa Nuva only use blasters as their primary weapons rather than secondary ones. The Midak Skyblasters are awesome because they are cannons that contain four Zamor Spheres. Now, the Makuta. They look awesome as well, and they look scary as they look evil. I like that the Phantoka Makuta look like bats while the Mistika ones look like swamp insects. I love the feature on the Phantoka Makuta where you push their rib cages to release the Tridax Pods to unleash the Shadow Leeches inside of them. I always love the wing pieces. Vamprah looks kind of weird because he is four-legged. I mean, he has no feet. I like that Chirox has double-jointed arms that fold and extend. I get that the Mistika Makuta wear masks that can be worn differently from the Phantoka ones’ because the Mistika Makuta are mutated, but they look a little weird. Plus, I see that Mistika Makuta has short non-bendable limbs, which is silly and weird. Krika has the same problem as Vamprah’s because of being four-legged. I like that Gorast has four arms, and I like Krika’s spikes and chest piece, Gorast’s claws and wings, and Bitil’s swords and wings. The Nynrah Ghost Blasters from the Mistika sets in general are alright, but they are hard to shoot. Now, for the small sets. They are the Phantoka Toa’s Av-Matoran partners, Solek, Tanma, and Photok, and the Phantoka Makuta’s partners, Radiak, Gavla, and Kirop. These guys have new pieces, which are the one-piece limbs, one-piece torsos, new transparent heads, new masks, Av-Matoran’s one-piece jet packs, Shadow Matoran’s one-piece pairs of bat-like wings, bat-like wings, and new clawed feet for Gavla and Kirop that look like the Piraka’s from 2006, but are two-toed. I like the use of the blades. I see that Radiak is four-legged, which is weird. I like the jet packs, wings, masks, and limbs the most. Plus, they can combine with their Phantoka counterparts by connecting their bodies to the Phantoka counterparts’ backs like a piggy back ride. Perfect for storage. Plus, you can combine the Matoran with the Mistika sets, but I would love that the Mistika sets have their own Matoran for matching colors. I mean, I would like to Tahu having a red Av-Matoran, Gali a blue one, Onua a black one, Krika a white Shadow Matoran, Gorast a green one, and Bitil a yellow one. Just to make things even with the Phantoka sets. Now for the large sets. They look awesome, too! The Toa Ignika set has the Mask of Life, which is by itself rather than being fused with Vezon’s head from 2006. It looks like itself the Ghost Animations videos in 2007, but silver rather than gold. I love Toa Ignika’s sword, spikes, and the Skyboard. He looks kind of like the Silver Surfer from Marvel. The Mutran and Vican set is neat because it contains a canister-set-sized Makuta and a Shadow Matoran, who you can combine. Mutran looks cool, and I love his claws and weapons. I like Vican’s claws, too. The Makuta Icarax set looks awesome, and I love that he has the Mask of Shadows. I also love his claws, sword, shield, and wings, though I find his right arm weird. That Hulk-sized dude looks like that can take on two Toa. Takanuva is a very tall dude! I love his new lance and version of the Mask of Light, and I like the light and dark contrast on him. He looks a little scary with the version of the mask, but alright. He looks like that he can take on two Makuta. I love that each Toa has a certain Makuta to fight against because they have similarities. Tahu vs. either Krika or Antroz because Krika is the leader of the Mistika Makuta while Antroz is the red leader of both thr Phantoka and Mistika Makuta, Gali vs. either Gorast or Vamprah, Onua vs. either Bitil or Chirox, Kopaka and Solek vs. either Antroz and Radiak or Krika, Lewa and Tanma vs. either Vamprah and Gavla or Gorast, Pohatu and Photok vs. either Chirox and Kirop or Bitil, Toa Ignika vs. Mutran and Vican, and Takanuva vs. Makuta Icarax. Anyway, we have the vehicle sets for the first time, and they include canister-sized figures and Matoran to drive them. They replaced the playsets in 2005-2007. The Rockoh T3 looks neat, as I like the folding-down feature in the front wings, other wings and that Zamor Launcher, even though it is a version of the Midak Skyblaster in the story. The Jetrax looks cool, as I also love the folding-wing function, blades and the fact that it has three Midak Skyblasters. The pilot version of Antroz in there looks pretty neat. There is a special edition version of the Jetrax that represents the vehicle being supercharged and where its Mistika shield pieces and blue pieces are replaced with yellow ones. That’s very neat. The Axalara T9 looks awesome, as I love the function where you reveal the Midak Skyblasters from the front and the arms that fold up. That thing is massive! I love the new visors with wings on Pohatu and Lewa, and it’s neat to see Pohatu’s arms with hands when he isn’t holding his propellers. We have two vehicle sets that are based on characters that aren’t too involved with the story, and they are Vultraz and Mazeka. Each of the pilots are Matoran. Vultraz is a Shadow Matoran who was once a Ta-Matoran and uses a winged vehicle with a Midak Skyblaster the fire Shadow bolts. Mazeka is a Ko-Matoran who uses a walking turret that has a Zamor Launcher. Vultraz looks menacing, and I like his vehicle. Mazeka’s vehicle is awesome, and I like the gun part and the legs. I wish those Matoran come with weapons, though. Finally, we have the Klakk. It looks adorable! I like its claws and wings, and those rocket things on its head to represent its power to create sonic blasts. The Phantoka Makuta’s, Mutran’s and Icarax’s torso pieces look neat, but they make their heads wobbly. I love the blended masks on the Makuta and the Shadow Matoran. They’re neat. Next, the combo models. Spiriah is a mix of Lewa, Phantoka Antroz, Tanma, and Radiak. He looks cool. He looks like Antroz with Lewa’s legs. I like his tail, Midak Skyblaster, and claws. That little Matoran-like guy on his back looks weird (that’s not canon), and Spiriah’s hands look a little weird. The Niazesk is a mix of Pohatu, Vamprah, and Toa Ignika. They look very cool. I like how they look like insects. Love the four arms and the stinger. Funny that its wings look like a jet’s wings, but alright. Its feet look kind of weird, though. Each of the Mistika groups have a combiner of the whole group. The Mistika Toa’s combiner is Trinuma (Tahu+Gali+Onua). He looks like a Toa, but with horns and is a little taller. He looks cool. The Mistika Makuta’s combined is the Swamp Stalker (Krika+Gorast+Bitil). It looks like a crocodile or an alligator. It looks very cool, and I like the spikes. There is an alternate model for the Jetrax, and that is the Destral Cycle, which looks like a motorcycle. That looks very cool, and I like that it has three wheels. I wish there are more combiners, and ones for other small and canister sets, Mutran and Vican, Makuta Icarax, and Takanuva. Plus, I wish the Rockoh and Axalara could have their own alternative models. For the sets overall, well, I think the lime green is used a lot. There are much more Midak Skyblasters than Nynrah Ghost Blasters. Mazeka looks too much like a big Av-Matoran. I wish Teridax could have his own 2008 set. Plus, I wish there are set packs where there are extra pieces that make Mistika versions of Kopaka, Lewa, and Pohatu, Phantoka versions of Tahu, Gali, and Onua, packs with pilot versions of Tahu, Gali, Onua, and Kopaka, so they can ride the Codrex vehicles, and a pack with gold pieces that can replace Takanuva’s dark gray pieces. As for the story and media, I think it was very great. It was told through three Bionicle Legends chapter books, a young reader’s book called Takanuva’s Journey, four comic books, a Phantoka video, a Mistika one, which is segmented, six online serials, an online story called The Kingdom that you had to unlock with a code, and a blog called Takanuva’s in the Bionicle website. I love the Makuta because they are awesome villains who good character development. It’s reasonable for the Toa to fight these guys because they are weaker than Teridax. Antroz is a clever guy. Mutran is a smart fellow, though he could do more fighting. I feel for Vican for working with Mutran when Mutran is crazy because Mutran usually threatens him. Good thing that Vican got cured back into a Le-Matoran, even though that I feel bad that he feels bad about his bad actions. Funny that Mutran unintentionally cured the Shadow Matoran by creating the Klakk. Lol. The irony. Icarax is awesome, as he is a tough fighter who wants to cause destruction. It’s interesting that we get to see the Av-Matoran, the Matoran of Light, and the Shadow Matoran, the Matoran of Shadow, as well as a Toa of Shadow sort of. I love that the Toa Nuva and Takanuva are back because we haven’t seen them for five years, and they are the first main protagonists of Bionicle 2001-2010. It’s cool that the Toa got the Adaptive Armor (well, they didn’t turn into stronger forms this time, but alright. At least, the Toa Nuva have bendable limbs in their sets). It’s interesting that Takanuva became a Toa of Light and Shadow, and he had anger issues from his Shadow side. Plus, he felt bad that he witness some of his Light kind being corrupted into Shadow Matoran. Poor guy, and it’s sad to see the Matoran turning evil, and the remain Av-Matoran losing their friends because of this. But, the Shadow Matoran got cured. That’s good. Takanuva did learn about where he truly belonged to before he ended up in Metru Nui for the first time as Takua. It’s like Superman from DC Comics discovering his heritage from Krypton when he became a man. It’s cool that the Av-Matoran and Shadow Matoran can blast elemental powers, even through their weapons. I feel bad for Gavla for not having friends. Why not make friends with her fellow Av-Matoran and Matoran in Metru Nui (that’s where Karda Nui’s Av-Matoran are)? I mean, there are a lot of good people who would welcome her. It’s scary that after the Toa have accomplished their mission, the Energy Storms happened. I feel bad for the beings who were in Karda Nui and got killed by the Storms. Plus, Teridax won by taking over the Matoran Universe when the Toa saved the day. That’s harsh, unfair, and very sad. It’s interesting that the Swamp has the Pit Mutagen. It’s awesome that the Mask of Life gave itself a body, but it’s too bad that it had to give it up, but it’s for the greater good, like how Matoro sacrificed his life to revive Mata Nui. The Makuta are like the Piraka and Barraki by being mean independent-minded villains with unique personalities, and how Icarax and Krika went against their brethren is like that, too. Krika isn’t completely a bad guy, as he is a soft guy who wants to make sure everything doesn’t go bad, even if it means going against Teridax’s immoral orders. I mean, he’s trying to help a little, but Gorast killed him. Poor guy. He’s not as bad as the other Makuta. I find the Makuta’s death by the Energy Storms a weird way to end the Final Battle. I like the Toa Nuva because they are awesome, Tahu got matured in the storyline, and the Toa talking about some things here and there. It’s very cool that we got to learn about their forgotten origins. I also love Takanuva and Toa Ignika because they are awesome and have very good character development. It’s awesome the Toa and Makuta can combine with the Av-Matoran and Shadow Matoran and use the Codrex’s vehicles (well, the Jetrax needs more information about itself, though, like does it has a T6 engine?). The Jetrax being supercharged by the magic Crystal is amazing. Plus, I love that Takanuva became Hulk-sized and got some new weapons. It’s too bad that the Toa Nuva didn’t combine into their Toa Kaita this time (I know that the Makuta can dissolve the fusions, though, but it would have been awesome to see the Kaita again.). I also wish there are instructions on how to make them as set combiners. I’m happy that the Toa finally reawakened Mata Nui, but it’s sad that Teridax won and exiled Mata Nui and the Mask of Life to outer space. Poor Mata Nui. This is one of the saddest and darkest moments in Bionicle history (crying in tears of sadness). I mean, the Toa worked so hard to help Mata Nui and their people, but Teridax ruined everything. Plus, Teridax is so mean to his kind by killing them. What a conniving and selfish jerk. It’s quite unbelievably amazing that Mata Nui is actually a 40-million-foot-tall god-like robot who contained the Matoran Universe. Can you believe that?! He’s the size of a planet! This is like one of the most epic moments in the history of Bionicle. It’s sad to see the island of Mata Nui getting destroyed in order for the Great Spirit Mata Nui to rise again. I miss it. Anyway, Teridax taking over Mata Nui’s body is phenomenally crazy and bad, and that’s one of the worst and craziest things that Teridax has done. Now the people in the Matoran Universe are in great trouble. Uh oh! The online serials are good. They are: 1. The Mutran Chronicles - Mutran talking about the history of the Brotherhood of Makuta. 2. The Federation of Fear, where Brutaka starts working for the Order of Mata Nui again and works with six bad guys, Vezon, Takadox, Carapar, Roodaka, Spiriah, and later on Lariska to go find the Brotherhood’s former leader named Makuta Miserix. 3. Dark Mirror - a podcast. Takanuva ending up in an alternate dimension where there is an empire of evil Toa led by Toa Tuyet. 4. Destiny War - the Order of Mata Nui having a War with the Brotherhood of Makuta. 5. Dwellers in Darkness - the Toa Hagah go to find Makuta Teridax. Meanwhile, the Toa Mahri are getting involved with the war. 6. Brothers in Arms - Mazeka’s adventures to go find and fight against Vultraz to stop him from doing evil things and do justice on him. Mazeka and Vultraz are like Batman and Joker from DC Comics in terms of being archenemies, and Vultraz is like Carnage from Marvel for how crazy and murderous he is as much as the Joker. I like the character development on the main characters, as we get to learn more about them, both characters from past storylines and this one. These include the Brotherhood, the Order, the Dark Hunters, Voporak, Tren Krom, the Toa Hagah, Krakua, Mazeka, and Vultraz. We encountered some weird moments here and there, like Vezon being fused with a mask called the Kanohi Olmak, Takanuva travelling hopping from one alternate dimension to another, and Vultraz being trapped in an alternate dimension and Mazeka coming with an alternate version of Teridax back to his dimension. We witnessed a lot of deaths, such as Carapar, Spiriah, Makuta Tridax, the very guy who created the Tridax Pods with Mutran, Botar, and Ancient. I wish that Mazeka and Vultraz could’ve gotten more involved with the Toa Nuva’s adventures in Karda Nui. Mazeka would have helped the Toa Nuva and their allies while Mazeka with the Makuta and their allies in Karda Nui. I mean, they are sets, so why not do that? The book, Takanuva’s Journey is good. It’s about Takanuva helping out a big creature in an alternative dimension. The online story, The Kingdom, is very good. It is about Takanuva helping out Matoro in an alternate dimension where Matoro failed to save the Matoran Universe. The blog, Takanuva’s blog, is good, too. It’s about Takanuva’s first-person perspective after he arrived in Karda Nui to help the Toa Nuva and until the 2008 storyline ended. It’s neat to hear from Takanuva’s thoughts. The Phantoka and Mistika videos are neat. Love the graphics by Ghost Animations, who made much more in the past, including the Barraki and Toa Mahri ones in 2007. The Mistika one is a fun one because it is segmented in the Bionicle website, where you wait for one of its segmented chronologically every three to four weeks, with those countdowns. Then, there is this picture of a desert, and after the countdown to that ended, it is revealed to be a teaser for the 2009 storyline (Bara Magna). There are a video that summarizes Bionicle’s 2001-2007 storylines. Very cool and nostalgic. There are two music videos. One for the Phantoka sets called “Gravity Hurts” by Cryoshell, the very band who made a couple of songs for the 2007 storyline. The other music video for the Mistika sets is called “Closer to the Truth” by Cryoshell. These are awesome! There are two primary online games to promote the storyline, and they are Phantoka one where you have to wait for mini-games every month and the Mistika one where you can make your own levels. They are fun, though they could do more stuff, like adding Mutran, Vican, Icarax, and make some of the characters playable in more parts. Each of the game has this competing thing where which side, the Toa (blue) or the Makuta (red), is winning. It was quite endless. Plus, the Phantoka game gives you codes that give you more power and pictures of concept art for the Phantoka sets. There are other smaller online games, but these don’t do much here and there. Weird things. I once made an instruction booklet on how to play the Phantoka game in summer 2008 and had my summer camp class read it because I love the game. There is a website where you can make videos based on Bionicle 2001-2008 and then send them to your friends. That’s very cool. I did that for my friends, and they loved it. I like the light-vs.-dark theme, war theme, and flying theme of the storyline. They are extremely cool. It’s like the Mask of Light storyline in late 2003 all over again is some ways. I think of it as a great way to celebrate the late 2003 storyline’s 5th anniversary. The year 2008 is also the year when the graphic novels are created and had been running until 2010. The Midak Skyblasters and the Mistika shields are used in Bionicle 2009 and Hero Factory 2010-2011. Lots of stuff in the 2008 storyline, I tell you. Lots of stuff. I’m sorry that I said a lot, but I am celebrating the 2008 storyline’s 10th anniversary that way. Anyway, the 2008 storyline is one of my favorite storylines. So, guys, what are your fond memories of the storyline, what do you like about it, what’s your favorite 2008 set, favorite character(s) in 2008, favorite moment in the storyline, what things remind you of the 2008 storyline, and/or how would you celebrate it? For me, well, my favorite sets are Tahu, Lewa, Kopaka, Pohatu, Antroz, Chirox, Gorast, Bitil, Mutran and Vican, Takanuva, Toa Ignika, Icarax, and the Axalara T9, and my favorite characters are Tahu, Onua, Kopaka, Lewa (always a funny guy), Pohatu, Antroz, Mutran, Icarax, Toa Ignika, and Takanuva. The things that remind me are: 1. Avengers: Infinity War in this year - Thanos and the Black Order kind of remind me of Teridax and the Brotherhood of Makuta. Plus, there is a big war between the good organization and the evil organization. Also, how Thanos won is kind of like how Teridax won. 2. The Brotherhood of Evil from DC Comics - the Brotherhood of Makuta remind me of the Brotherhood of Evil. 3. The Dark Knight in 2008 - when I think of Batman fighting the bad guys, I think of the Phantoka Makuta 4. Ninjago in 2018 - how Lord Garmadon won while he made good guys disappear to another world reminds me of how Teridax won and banished Mata Nui and the Mask of Life to outer space. Plus, both of the storylines involve good-hearted people forming rebellions against the tyrants alone for now. Plus, the Oni are like the Makuta. 5. Nexo Knights in 2017 - how the Stone Colossus of Ultimate Destruction Rios’s from a mountain is like how the Great Spirit Mata Nui rose from the island of Mata Nui. 6. Iron Man from Marvel - the Toa Nuva’s new armor is sort of like Iron Man’s for how they can adapt to situations. 7. Superman from DC Comics - how Takanuva and the Toa Nuva are learning about their origins reminds me of Superman for how he learned that he was from Krypton when he became a man. 8. Doctor Octopus from Ultimate Spider-Man TV show in 2012 - how Doctor Octopus like to mutate beings to do his evil purposes is like Mutran. 9. Suicide Squad in 2016 - that team bad guys remind me of Federation of Fear. 10. Batman and the Joker from DC Comics - how Mazeka and Vultraz are archenemies remind me of Batman and the Joker because Mazeka wants to do justice on Vultraz, who is insane and murderous. 11. Carnage from Marvel - Vultraz reminds me of Carnage because he is a red villain who has a weird condition and wants to kill people. 12. Bionicle 2016 - the Toa Uniters combining with the Elemental Creatures is like how the Toa Nuva and Makuta combine with their Matoran partners. 13. Hero Factory - the Heroes always wear armor that adapt to certain situations, the Legion of Darkness is sort of like the Brotherhood of Makuta, Jetbug is like Bitil, Waspix and Thornraxx are like Gorast, and Splitter Beast does this small-guy-combining-with-big-guy thing. 14. The Incredible Hulk in 2008 - Takanuva was sort of like the Hulk whenever he gets angry. Abomination is sort of like Gorast because he is kind of green and has double-jointed legs. 15. Star Wars - the Pod Racing vehicles in Episode 1, the X-Wings, and that little red vehicle in Episode 7 are like the Codrex vehicles. Plus, there are huge wars between the good organizations and bad organizations for how they have adventures. Also, General Grevious is like Gorast because he has four arms and double-jointed legs. 16. Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 - Knowhere looking like a giant head that belonged to a dead Celestial reminds me of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. In fact, the Celestials are like Mata Nui because they are giant god-like robot-like beings. 17. S.H.I.E.L.D. from Marvel - the Order of Mata Nui is like that. 18. Hydra from Marvel - the Brotherhood of Makuta is like that. 19. Super Sonic and Sonic the Werehog from Sonic the Hedgehog - how the Jetrax gets supercharged with a crystal reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog when he uses the Chaos Emeralds to become an enhanced version of himself called Super Sonic. Takanuva is like Sonic the Werehog because he may look scary and has dark powers, but he is a good guy at heart and goes to help people before he gets cured of his condition. 20. Galactus from Marvel - Mata Nui is like him because he’s a very big and mighty guy. 21. Unicron and Primus from Transformers - Mata Nui is like them because he is a planet-sized robot. 22. Kung Fu Panda 2 in 2011 and 3 in 2016 - how Po learns about his origins is like how the Toa Nuva and Takanuva learn about theirs. 23. Kingdom Hearts - the Organization XIII reminds me of the Brotherhood of Makuta in many ways. 24. Darkseid and his Elite from DC Comics - the Brotherhood of Makuta remind me of the Brotherhood of Makuta. 25. Black Panther in 2018 - how Eric Killmonger took over the kingdom by removing T’Challa reminds me of Teridax overthrowing Mata Nui. 26. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - in Turtles Forever and the 2012 TV show, the Shredder and other bad guys use Mutagen to create mutants to have them as their evil servants. 27. Regular Show - how Rigby get angry and attacks people while having a bad and abnormal condition before he gets cured reminds me of Takanuva. 28. Starscream from Transformers - Icarax reminds me of Starscream because they both like to betray their leaders and steal their places as leaders. 29. The Lion King in 1994 - how Scar overthrew Mufasa and took over the kingdom is kind of like how Teridax overthrew Mata Nui, but Teridax never killed Mata Nui. They are just called “brothers”. 30. That girl from Transformers: Bumblebee in 2018 - the movie didn’t came out yet, but that girl reminds me of the lead singer in the “Closer to the Truth” music video.
  7. Hi! I want to add Icarax with both box and instructions to my collections. If you have one for sell, I will be interested. Prefering Europe sellers.
  8. So I'm not exactly sure if S&T is the best thing for this, since this is more of a discussion on a "what if" scenario rather than the actual canon story, but hey, I guess it fits here. I'm sure this thought flashed through most of your heads at one point or another, but how would you have envisioned the G1 storyline after 2008 if it would have stayed in the GSR? What if Teridax miscalculated and the Toa Nuva were successful in awakening the Great Spirit in the Codrex, and when the heroes gathered in Metru Nui to celebrate, the constellation in the sky showed them the symbol of the three virtues instead of a Krahkaan? I actually think about this a lot. I would have loved to see a whole new toa team, preferably of the secondary elements, like Sonics (make Krakua a set and main character!), Plasma, Iron, Gravity, Psionics and Electricity maybe (I know there are more of them). It would have been interesting to explore some of the locations we only got glimpsed of in spite of being told that they're really important, like the large northern and southern continents, or maybe something of a island-hopping adventure on the many southern isles. What if, with a bit of 2008 retconning, the energy storm didn't only wreck Karda Nui, but caused all kinds of natural disasters throughout the GSR. While the main cast is all happy on Metru Nui, celebrating and getting drunk off Madu Pálinka, say an earthquake wrecked a prison or something on one of the southern isles, and an inexperienced rookie Toa team is sent to re-capture the escaped Dark Hunters or other baddies. The whole storyline with the Shadowed One and his virus would be continued, eventually making him the next big baddie with Teridax gone (for good), and the new Toa would be mixed up in it due to their pursuit of the fugitive Dark Hunters. I also noted that, in spite of elements and elemental powers being a big thing in Bionicle, the story never ever pulled something where a character tried to achieve control over multiple elements. A new storyline could even have focused on an outlaw Toa who was banished due to killing an opponent and thus violating the Toa code attempts suicide by way of energised protodermis, however instead of dying, he/she is mutated into a new being with the power to gain control over any element if it consumes a user. So initially it would have no element, but if it consumed (via shadow hand or something) a Toa of Fire, it could control fire. If it consumed a Toa of Air after, it could control Fire and Air, and then it would go on a murderous quest to become the master of every element, causing it to target, say, Takanuva, since he is the only Toa of Light. Seeing as G1 had a tendency to become multi-layered and complicated in terms of story, both could be weaved together in some way. Anyhow, that is my personal take on a potential story set on the GSR post-2008. If you were put in charge of coming up with such a story, how would you do it?
  9. I was struck by inspiration yesterday and spent most of my free time scribbling out this story. I think it's the quick ones that I enjoy the most. Shame I didn't have this idea when the Memoirs of the Dead contest was still going on. Ah well -- it's not like the winning stories are going to be canonized anyway. Enjoy and review, please and thank you. EDIT: I've heeded the advice given in this thread and composed a revised version of this story. Feel free to check it out! AN EVEN EXCHANGE I am the Makuta of Stelt. I keep this record not for vanity’s sake. I keep it as a record of all transactions I have made, what goods for what services, to whom, amidst all the other details of such exchanges. It helps me remember the few debts I owe to others… and the many that are owed me. Deals are, all things considered, what keeps this universe running. Everything in life, from the physics of protodermis to the movements of nations, is expressed in a series of even exchanges, and our society knows this, as is reflected in our many sayings and bits of knowledge. ‘Time is money.’ ‘What goes around comes around.’ ‘For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ Throughout all barter and trade, there is no escaping this equilibrium. Oh, it is easy enough for any merchant to overcharge you, but that is not unfair. The swindled customer pays with their money for both the useless purchase and their lapse of judgment. The bigger the lapse, the more time, money, or effort is expended -- and the more upset feels the fool when all is said and done. I am a master of deals and exchanges. One would hope so, for I reign over the center of all trade in our world: Stelt. Our connections extend to the smog-filled metropolis of Xia and the bustling city of Metru Nui, and to stranger places still -- mysterious islands lost to history, the secluded workshops of the Nynrah Ghosts, and even, I suspect, the mystical foundries of Artakha. Here, where the law is strong but flexible, you truly can buy anything... though you may not pay for it with widgets. Such thoughts were on my mind as I reclined in my dark chamber, counting out a series of widgets paid to me by the arena for the renewal of their slave-holding license. Strong, robust slaves were a valuable commodity, and entirely wasted on the arena, who threw dozens after dozens of perfectly good ones into glorified deaths for the amusement of the crowds. Still, it was their money, not mine, and I had not outlawed careless wasting of potential servitors, so I allowed them to continue. What concerned me about the arena was not their practices, but rather, the intrigue unfolding behind their most famous champion. Gladiator was a massive creature, his armor stuffed to bursting with muscle and might, with a multitude of long and sharp talons ready to grasp and shred his opponents in a most spectacular manner. He was a peak physical specimen, a crowd favorite… and an illegal fugitive and spy. Oh, I knew all about Gladiator’s escape. It had been a quite sensational story -- he lost control during a match and went on a destructive rampage, incurring both great expenses and great publicity, none of it good, for the arena. For them, it was a catastrophe; for me, an opportunity. After his handlers abjectly failed to contain him, Gladiator roared through the market district, destroying several weapons shipments I’d had my eyes on. The loss of the shipments would be compensated by the arena’s hefty fee -- and their surrender of the slave in question. As I mentioned, I hate wasted potential. However, it seems someone else had their eyes on the same prize, and weren’t as committed to doing things by the book. While I was going over the legal documents with the arena owner, Gladiator vanished from his cell, and was not seen again for a good fourteen millennia. My officers -- those of them who were still alive after his escape -- investigated the crime, but came up empty-handed. I let the matter slide. There were greater profits to be made at the time. Then, a few years ago, Gladiator was returned to the arena by three Dark Hunters. They claimed to have confiscated him from a mysterious third party, which had been responsible for his abduction, and demanded the reward money. I knew it immediately as a ploy. Gladiator had been inducted by the Dark Hunters, and he was here to carry out some nefarious task. The arena had made another lapse in judgment, and I would see to it that they paid a price -- but first, I would settle the debts owed me by Gladiator. I found Gladiator in the arena, training against an Exo-Toa, one of several dozen I had sold to the arena last month. Trying to ignore the painful sounds of costly machinery being disemboweled, I crossed to the arena owner, who was watching the proceedings with a more cautious eye. “M-my lord Makuta!” he stammered, sinking into a bow. “W-what brings you here?” “Cease your trembling,” I replied, tossing him a parcel of widgets. “I am not here to take Gladiator from you. I simply want to talk.” Gladiator saw me coming, but he couldn’t dodge a magnetic pulse that locked up his limbs and sent him toppling to the ground. As he lay sprawled on the sandy rock, I set my boot on his head and produced a stone tablet. “I didn’t break any of your precious laws,” he snarled, “but I can break something else of yours if you like.” “As a general rule, threats work best when you are not at the other party’s mercy,” I replied. “Get out,” Gladiator growled. “The Dark Hunters returned me, fair and square. I’m back in the arena, no funny business about it. You have no right to be here.” “As a matter of fact, I do,” I grinned, and gestured to the tablet. “Under Stelt law, when investigating the escape of a slave, a government official has every right to take the slave in question into custody, no matter how much time has passed since the escape. And who am I but the highest of all government officials?” Gladiator paused, realizing he was ensnared. “Go ahead and grill me. Ask me how I got out of here. I won’t give you any answers, no matter what you do to me.” “That’s fortunate,” I smiled, lowering my voice, “because the question I want answered doesn’t pertain to your escape at all.” Not too long ago, my Rahi spies had reported some very interesting news: after a thousand years of absence, the Matoran of Metru Nui had returned to the island city, and were beginning to resume work. They had brought with them six Turaga, seven Toa… and one very important mask. “Go to Karzahni, Makuta. I’m not telling you anything.” “Time is money, slave, and you are wasting both of mine. But I will give you one more chance to reconsider. The answer to this question is worth a lot to me. Far more than widgets… more, even, than solving the ‘mystery’ of your escape all those years ago.” Gladiator’s tone switched from growling reticence to wary curiosity. “If I answer this question… you’ll call off the investigation?” “Yes,” I said, withdrawing my boot from his head, “and I’ll do you one better. If you should happen to... ‘go missing’... with your Dark Hunter friends in a few months, I will remember the service you did me this day. You can sail away from here without even a warrant out for your lawful return.” The deal was struck. “I’m listening,” said Gladiator. I leaned in close, keeping my magnetic hold as strong as ever -- stronger, even, enough to cause Gladiator some pain. “Where… is… Voporak?” ~~~~~ Voporak was my masterpiece, my proudest achievement as a Makuta. Oh, I had made my fair share of Rahi and other experiments, such as the creature later called Minion. But none of them were quite so important, powerful, and majestic as Voporak. He was a being entirely attuned to the flow of time in our universe, which afforded him a variety of terrifying powers… and made him integral to my plans. The study of Kanohi had been a profitable venture for Matoran scholars since time immemorial. It was their work that allowed the development of advanced mask powers, such as my own. And their work concluded that our universe would eventually see the rise of a third Legendary Kanohi: the Mask of Time. I needed that mask. I had always known that; now I needed it more than ever. Teridax’s plan was nearing fruition. Soon, he would travel beneath Metru Nui and usurp command of the universe. He had promised the Brotherhood an exchange: we would help him attain ultimate power, and he would reward us with positions of power in a new age. Only I saw the truth of this arrangement. Once ultimate power was his, Teridax would need the Brotherhood no longer, and we would pay the price: our lives in exchange for blind trust of our power-hungry leader. Unless, of course, one of us possessed power to rival his. Teridax would control the universe, but I would control time. Attack me, and he would risk the disruption of the time flow, throwing his reign into utter, illogical chaos. I would have earned my survival -- no, more than survival -- my position as Teridax’s equal in the rule of two Makuta. And so I sought out Voporak. I had verified Gladiator’s directions with a Kanohi Rode and knew them to be accurate, as far as he knew. And thus, accompanied by a retinue of a dozen Exo-Toa, several handpicked Rahkshi, and one very skilled energy hound, I traveled outside the known universe, to the island of Mata Nui. The island was a paradise that should never have existed. I could not help but marvel at the beauty of the landscape. It was quiet, too; the Matoran had left this place some months ago, taking most of the Rahi with them. Most, but not all. As we proceeded through the dry plains of Po-Wahi, the sounds of battle erupted at the edge of the Exo-Toa’s formation. When I joined them, they were locked in combat with creatures I had thought to be a myth: vatuka, unnatural beings made of living stone. They were truly fascinating, but they were also wasting my Exo-Toa’s reserves of energy. My most skilled Panrahk made short work of them, and then we were on our way again. My energy hound led the way. Shortly after bringing it into being, I had introduced it to the scent of Voporak. Obviously, I could not produce his exact aroma, but I did as well as I could, gathering his old possessions as a clan leader, as well as the laboratory equipment I had used to modify him. It seemed this had been sufficient, as the hound faithfully led us to my creation. The trail plunged into the heart of the Bohrok nest, into a deep, dark cavern lit by the eldritch glow of a protodermis cage. Inside writhed the two queens of the swarms, the Bahrag, hissing and snarling at the enigmatic cube that hovered before their prison. A few bio from the cube stood Voporak himself, tracing wisps of golden energy in the air. He had not heard our approach; my Rahkshi’s power had blanketed our patrol in utter silence. Now, at my command, it lowered its staff, and I spoke. “Voporak.” He turned, lazily, and regarded my group with an inscrutable expression. He gave off the relaxed confidence that true power affords, but he knew he was looking on the being that had given him that power -- I could take it away just as well. “The Vahi was used here,” he said slowly. “Sloppily. Without skill. But still, its power reverberates.” I could hear his longing, see it in the way he caressed the air that had felt the touch of time. “The mask lies in Metru Nui, guarded by a handful of Matoran and one naive Toa team,” I said. “Why have you not stormed the city and claimed your prize?” Voporak curled his claws into a fist and snarled. “The Shadowed One forbids it. You and your kind covet the mask for yourselves, and he is cautious.” “Cowardly, I would say. Has one scuffle with Teridax struck such fear into his heart?” Voporak whirled, rhotuka blazing in his claws. The Rahkshi moved to guard me, though I knew they would afford no protection against his power. “The Shadowed One fears no Makuta! Least of all you. Give me one reason I should not age you and your machines to dust right now.” “We share a common enemy,” I shrugged. “You and I both know that Teridax craves the Vahi, but only I know when his careful gaze will be lifted. Help me, and I can help you.” A conflicted snarl on his face, Voporak lowered his rhotuka, though it still remained at the ready. “I remember what happened the last time I made a deal,” he said bitterly. “Yes -- I gifted you with incredible power. But it is not everything.” I left the matter hanging in the air. The Kanohi Vahi was within his grasp, and Voporak knew it. “What do you ask for in return?” “I should think it would be obvious: I want the Vahi,” I said. “I will tell you when to act, and in return, you will bring the mask to my residence on Stelt. Once you have handed it over, I will supply you with whatever transport and supplies you request, and you can leave my island in peace.” “You are delusional,” Voporak hissed. “To surrender the mask to a Makuta would dishonor me in the eyes of the Shadowed One.” With a glimmer of thought, I gave strength to the shadows of the room, and darkness crawled across the Bahrag’s cage. “Little one,” I growled, casually turning a section of the wall to dust, “I made you what you are today. I can do far worse than dishonor you.” It really made no difference to me whether he turned over the Vahi of his own will or not, and Voporak knew it. He saw the energy hound, drawing in his scent and memorizing his unique energy signature, and knew there was no place to hide. Bring the Vahi to me, and he would live to see another day. Bring it to the Shadowed One, and he would bring the wrath of Stelt to the Dark Hunters’ hidden isle. One way or another, I would have my payment. “...Very well,” Voporak sighed, hanging his head. “On my honor, I will bring you the Vahi. But do not think for a moment I will forget this, Makuta.” “I wouldn’t dream of it,” I smiled. Of course, shortly after Voporak handed me the Vahi, Teridax would assume control and do me the favor of wiping out the Dark Hunters -- Voporak included. Until then, Voporak would follow my instructions. “Soon, the Great Spirit will die, and live again. Teridax will make his way to a place beneath the known universe, where he must remain to carry out his plan. Wait some weeks after the resurrection, and then will be the time to strike.” Voporak nodded in understanding. With nothing more to say, I turned my thoughts to my retinue and willed us back to Stelt. As I departed the nest, I could see hatred gleaming in Voporak’s golden eyes. No doubt he was already formulating some plan for how to strike back at me… a plan that he would never have the time to carry out. ~~~~~ The deal was done, and the pieces had begun to fall into place. I returned to my estate on Stelt and began my preparations to wield the Mask of Time. Kanohi scholars had correctly predicted the mask’s creation; now I studied their notes and conclusions on its function. The successful use of a Legendary Mask would require great willpower and a fundamental understanding of the power it controlled. In short, I had a lot of studying to do. My studying was not without its interruptions. A few weeks later, Gladiator disappeared mysteriously into the night, causing the arena owner some distress. Lacking the patience to create an alibi, I had him executed for his general incompetence. I hear the new arena owner has poured most of her funds into doubling the guard; whether this is to keep the slaves in or to keep me out, I know not, but I really couldn’t care less. I only have so much time before I will have all of time at my command. I had not seen the last of my interruptions. Not a few months later, a trader had the audacity to demand a personal audience with me. He claimed that his most prized boat had been stolen by a group of criminals, including Roodaka herself. The trader demanded that I send my officers to recapture the boat before it got too far south, but I couldn’t be bothered with the bizarre affairs of common merchants. Time is money, after all. It made no difference to me if one boat and a few miscreants wandered off to sea. The time is nearly at hand. Mata Nui’s resurrection was only a month ago -- or was it two? Down here with only the tablets for company, time seems slow and fast simultaneously. No matter. Soon, I will be the master of how long any task takes. Of course, this studying would be more easily done without all these condemned interruptions. There is a tremendous racket echoing from the street; if I didn’t know better, I’d say the Kanohi Dragon had been loosed in the market district. I suppose I had better go and investigate... ~~~~~ In full reptilian glory, Makuta Miserix strode down the street, his claws crushing flagstones and his tail smashing buildings. At his glance, traders panicked and fled, running into and over each other in their confusion. It was really rather amusing to watch, but he had no time for fun and games. Somewhere on this island was its resident Makuta, one of the “brothers” who had betrayed him so many years ago. A trader he’d interrogated had pointed him in the direction of the palace; now Miserix fully intended to knock in the doors and see if anyone was home. A concentrated burst of his fragmentation power collapsed the front half of the building, sending Rahkshi scurrying madly. Hungry tendrils of crimson energy leapt from Miserix’s body, grabbing and absorbing them, even as he unleashed a power scream that shattered windows and buildings all across the island. “MAKUTA OF STELT! SHOW YOURSELF!” After a few moments, a scarlet-armored Makuta emerged from the rubble of his palace, brandishing a tablet. Miserix remembered him, if not his name; he was a weasel, a conniving little wretch who fancied himself a master deal-broker. Miserix, however, was not here to bargain. At the sight of the massive dragon, the Makuta froze. “...Miserix!” he gasped, and dropped the tablet, beginning to back away. “I… I thought you dead. We all did. How…?” “Never mind that,” Miserix growled. “Where is Teridax?” “You want information? I can supply it,” the Makuta nodded. “What do you offer in return?” he asked reflexively, and instantly regretted it. Miserix adjusted his size, looming over the Makuta, and raised his razor-sharp talons. “In return? In return, I will not tear you limb from limb, as I am tempted to.” The Makuta of Stelt’s mind raced. He knew a promise against dismemberment still left Miserix with a lot of options -- there were a thousand ways Miserix could kill him where he stood. “I don’t owe Teridax any loyalty, but I do have a lot of information,” he said swiftly. “You won’t get far without it. Better to -- ” “I only need one answer from you, rat,” Miserix snarled. “Where -- is -- Teridax??” The Makuta of Stelt’s heart sank, or it would have if he’d had one. He needed a plan of escape, and quickly, but he didn’t have one. An attack from a fellow Makuta had never been anticipated. Miserix was an unknown variable that had swooped in at the last possible moment -- how was he supposed to have planned for that? The moments slowed to a crawl, even as thoughts danced at lightning speed through the Makuta’s head. None of them gave him a plan. Thinking on his feet was not his specialty. “The Core Processor,” he said, “beneath the Metru Nui Coliseum. He is there, but I -- ” “You have supplied your end of the bargain,” Miserix nodded. “And as I am a Makuta of my word, I shall uphold mine.” A crimson tendril of energy leapt from Miserix’s chest. In less than an instant, before he could activate his dodge power, the Makuta was seized by an unnatural force and drawn with a shriek into Miserix’s form. As he felt his essence sinking into Miserix’s, he remembered bitterly his designs for the Mask of Time -- potential now lost forever. Ultimately, as his body dissipated into the essence of Miserix, the Makuta of Stelt realized the sad truth of it: he just hadn’t had enough time. Miserix felt the Makuta’s spirit break, and crushed it instantly. With a last disparaging glance at the wreckage of the palace, he turned his thoughts to Metru Nui. In the next moment, Miserix was gone from Stelt, leaving behind a ruined palace, a broken street, and a crowd of terrified traders. The Silver Sea flashed below and the Coliseum ahead as Miserix soared on crimson wings towards Metru Nui. The Order had begun work on the fortifications, preparing for the final battle with the Brotherhood. Miserix did not care to see it carried out. All he cared was that Teridax die, by his hand. As he rushed over the growing walls, movement caught his eye down below. A small boat had docked in a forlorn corner of Onu-Metru, and a large figure was now emerging, garbed in gold and black armor. Briefly, the figure glanced up, and fixed its golden eyes on Miserix… then it turned its gaze on the wall, focused intently on some prize within the city. Miserix thought nothing of it. With a sudden burst of speed, he hurtled downwards to the base of the Coliseum, fragmenting the street and blasting it to bits. Before the Order agents could stop him, he had swooped into the tunnels below and left them far behind. THE END
  10. Welcome to the eighth installment of my new series of Bionicle flash fics, The Biological Chronicle. If you want to read the other stories in this series, you can find links to them in my signature at the end of this post. If you don't know what this is, allow me to quote from the first fic's introduction: With that out of the way, enjoy: 2008 Though Gavla sat in the stands of the Metru Nui Coliseum alongside hundreds of other Matoran, she never felt more alone in her entire life. Turaga Dume, the head elder of the city, was giving some speech about how great it was that Mata Nui was awakened, how the darkness had finally been defeated, and other cliches that Gavla found extremely tiring. So tiring, in fact, that Gavla slipped out of the stands without anyone noticing, without anyone even stopping her to inquire where she was going on this momentous day. That was not surprising in the least. She had no friends, whether among the Av-Matoran or the others, so why would anyone care where she was? Gavla soon found herself just outside the Coliseum exit, trying to decide where she should go next. The cries of joy from the other Matoran were muffled out here, but she could still hear them plainly. She looked over her shoulder at the massive Coliseum, wishing the entire structure would just collapse on top of everyone inside there. Especially on Takanuva. “You're sick of it, too?” said a voice nearby, one she didn't recognize. Gavla looked around before spotting a Po-Matoran leaning against a streetlamp not far from the Coliseum's entrance. She had not seen him when she exited; in fact, unless she was mistaken, it seemed like he had just appeared out of thin air. She dismissed that as her imagination, though, because this Po-Matoran didn't look much different from the other Po-Matoran she had seen. “Who are you?” said Gavla, folding her arms and glaring at him. “And why aren't you in the Coliseum celebrating Mata Nui's awakening with everyone else?” The Po-Matoran shrugged. “I guess you must be one of those Av-Matoran. My name is Ahkmou. Let's just say that I'm not particularly popular among my fellow Metru Nuians. Hence why I'm out here alone.” Gavla eyed him carefully. “Why do they hate you? I thought all you Metru Nuians were best friends. The Three Virtues and all that.” Ahkmou chuckled. “They hate me because I used to serve Makuta Teridax himself.” Gavla shook her head in astonishment. “Wait, you, too, served the Makuta? I thought you Metru Nuians hated them.” “Not all of us,” said Ahkmou. “And besides, it was a while ago. I'm clean, but the other Matoran and even the Turaga still don't trust me much.” Gavla's shoulders sagged. “I know what you mean. Life was so much better when I was a servant of the Makuta.” She expected Ahkmou to react with horror at the statement, but to her relief, he nodded. “I agree. The power . . . oh, how powerful I felt when I was Teridax's servant. When you get a taste of that power, nothing ever seems to quite match up afterward, does it?” Gavla wasn't sure that she agreed. The only reason she had liked the Makuta, after all, was because they had accepted her. She never felt particularly powerful among them, but she nodded nonetheless, as she didn't want to cause any rifts between the two of them so soon. “Were you a—?” “Not a Shadow Matoran, no,” said Ahkmou, shaking his head. “Still, I know what it feels like. Darkness is a seductive force and I love it for that.” Gavla nodded, feeling happy that she had found someone who understood her. She was even starting to think that maybe she had finally found a friend, even though she had just met Ahkmou and did not know him very well. Then Ahkmou looked up at the sky and started. “What the—?” Frowning, Gavla followed his gaze. She was shocked to see that the stars had rearranged themselves into the shape of Makuta Icarax's Mask of Shadows. That made no sense, though. What was going on? She looked back at Ahkmou, who was now smiling in a way that reminded Gavla of the way Makuta Vamprah had sometimes smiled right when he was about to get his prey. “What's going on?” said Gavla. “Ahkmou, why are you smiling?” “Because if that mask is what I think it is,” said Ahkmou, his voice triumphant, “then I think life is about to get better for the both of us very enough. Very soon, indeed.” - Comments, criticism, questions, etc. are all welcome . -TNTOS-

    2008 what if

I always thought that the whole concept of Shadow Matoran during 2008 was really bland. A leech attaches on to them and drains their "inner light" and suddenly they're evil and a flying thing has to scream at them so they can be good again and yes right okay Wouldn't it have been more interesting if the Makuta had come in and like persuaded them to abandon their faith in Mata Nui? Which I suppose would have been hard right after Matoro used the MoLife to resurrect Mata Nui, but disillusionment with Mata Nui is something that 2006 and 2007 dealt with or at least touched upon in some aspect. And it would have been more emotionally resonant if the Shadow Matoran fought the Av-Matoran of their own free will for something they actually believed in rather than the Makuta turning them purely evil and that's that. Just a thought.
  12. Note: Takanuva's Blog is not included because of the nature of its writing. The first person perspective makes it difficult to include with the other third person chapters. The Mutran Chronicles are an exception to this, as they do not take place with other chapters simultaneously, thus the perspective is maintained. Alright, this is how I spent the past few rainy days. What I have for you all is a document containing all of the 2008 serials organized in chronological order (by the chapter, not the individual serial). This way, the serials can be read as if they were a continuing book and not having one serial end in one point in time, only to be picked up by the next one set earlier before that (this applies to reading through the Online Serials topic). The result is a whopping 115 page Google Doc. The first 50 or so are in order as they appear in the Online Serials topic, featuring the Mutran Chronicles, a portion of Brothers in Arms, Federation of Fear, and Dark Mirror (DM is grouped early on due to the inability to connect its events with those of the Core Universe). Note that this is not completely accurate due to the nature of the time progression in the serials, but this is as close as I could come. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KEusjzIOC3G26T61wMgSv1q0l_Mc1q559Rl_DV3l7x0/edit?usp=sharing
  13. We're looking at The Toa Mata, Nuva, and Phantoka/Mistika. The main team of the Bionicle story. This doesn't include gen2's sets because the poll only allows for three questions, so bear with me. Who do you think got the short end of the stick with each wave? Personally, I think Pohatu wins for 2001 and 2002. Poor Pohatu... he always gets the lamest or weirdest one... first he has kicking, which really made his body look weird, then he didn't really have proper weapons in 2008, and now, in 2015, he's the smallest and blandest of the new Toa. It's ironic to me, because he's one of my favorites. Heck, all of them are great, but I love Pohatu a whole bunch. As for 2008, though, I think Onua wins (or loses, depending on how you see it) because his Mistika form betrayed his iconic look of short and stocky, and replaced it with tall and lean.
  14. Through Bionicle's decade-long run, we received four movies, each covering most of their respective years. But there were some years with such great potential that should have gotten a movie adaptation. Now, which year would be the most worthy for a film?
  15. Hello BZPower! I'm on holiday and bored so I decided to make a poll that I hope will make clear the most popular Bionicle set. How it works: I am going to be going year by year making a poll on which there is an option for every set of that year and when I close them (probably in 1st January 2015) I will make a new poll consisting of the winners of each one which people vote on. PLEASE DO NOT VOTE TWICE ON A SINGLE POLL! Thank you ! I will not be counting: anything that isn't Lego, the Turaga Kabaya, any combiners that were not released by themselves (e.g. I will count Kardas but not the Toa Kaita), super rare things like the Piraka Kaita or Sand Tarakava and things like mask packs or Krana. I will be counting: any standard sets in canisters or boxes, promotional (good/bad guy sets, click, ect), special editions (including combiners like Irnakk) and play-sets. Keep in mind that these sets are in the forms they are in in that year. Bionicle 2015: this will be only Gen 1 unless I decide otherwise. Makuta Teridax: Finally I have taken over the universe with no other Makuta left alive to challenge my rule, apart from Mistrex but he is a pretty painting. Chirox: You're forgetting someone. Teridax: How did you survive?!?!?!??! Chirox: I teleported away from the energy storm then flew out of Karda Nui. Teridax: Wow, I totally overlooked that. Chirox: Yeah, this was a crazy plan you made that would cause anyone else's brain to explode and you over look that? Teridax: You didn't see anything! Universe powers activate! Chirox: NOOOO!!!!!! *Chirox gets destroyed by imploding* Random BZPower Member: No one even reads these!
  16. Kopaka Nuva shooting a skyblaster. I know they "officially" look like guns firing, but the laser blast thing looks so cool IMO.
  17. So do you guys think that the Toa Kaita will make a return? Will you MOC them if they don't? And has anyone made a decent MOC of Akamai or Wairuha from the 08 Toa Nuva?
  18. Not quite sure if this should be here or in S&T, so forum leaders, whoever they may be, please feel free to move this if necessary. So, in the Original/Cancelled Storylines topic in S&T, someone said about how after 07, instead of Matoro sacrificing himself with the Ignika, the Inika were originally intended to do the whole Karda Nui battle arc thingy in order to save Mata Nui's life, and what I'm asking is, would you have preferred 08 to have the Inika again in different forms, or are you happy with the what we actually got? Here's the link to the aforementioned topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/13109-originalcancelled-storylines/
  19. So, I've been amassing a digital collection of BIONICLE media since BIONICLE ended in 2010. One of the things I've never been able to get are the 2006-2010 comics in PDF file formats. BS01 has all the comics from 2001-2005 for pdf download, but if I remember correctly, 2006-onward leads to them on the BIONICLE website? In short, does anyone have the 2006-2010 comics in PDF format? Or if they know a place, could they direct me to it?
  20. I want to know what other people think about the best Toa. Personally, between 2005 and 2008, I really liked Takanuva. He's actually a bit like Matoro. Starts out as an ordinary Matoran (even though he is the chronicler), becomes a Toa, risks his life to stop Makuta taking over, saves the universe. Except he doesn't die like Matoro did. Then you have to consider their weapons.Takanuva (2008 version): Giant 3 pronged staff, Midak Skyblaster, Mask of Light, power over light and shadowMatoro (Mahri version): Twin cutter, Cordak revolving blaster, Mask of Reanimation, power over ice, guards the Mask of Life.So if I had 2 choose a favorite, it would probably be Matoro and Takanuva. I love BOTH OF THEM so much I can't decide!!! I'll just bow before both of them. So, what do you guys think? Who is the BEST Toa from 2005-2008?
  21. I had this lame comic created years back that used my own sprites and stuff. Thankfully I never posted it or I'd never live it down in my own mind. I lost the actual comics when we changed computers, but I managed to salvage the sprite sheet and the background. So naturally I decided to recreate it in all its awful grandeur for ironic purposes. Enjoy or don't. That's really what it was like. I had a dozen panels ready to upload and post, I just never got the courage to do it. You can go and thank past me for being such a wuss. This really didn't deserve a topic in AIII.
