  2. A Tale of Two Paths PrologueListen again, friends, to our legend of the BIONICLE.Five hundred years ago, a Great Mask of Power called the Kanohi Olmak, an artifact that granted travel through the dimensions of existence. After being lost by a toa warrior in a battle, it was trapped floating through dimensional space. But as it traveled, it struck a barrier of an unknown power, shattering and melding the dimensions together into a ring of seven planets separated from each other and a mysterious eighth planet by a destructive energy called “Bluespace“. This collection of universes -- a “Multiverse” -- became known by its inhabitants as Aethion.Aethion is constantly threatened by the force known by most of the Multiverse as the Olmak Effect, which warps physics and is slowly tearing down Aethion. But for some, the Olmak Effect is merely an afterthought, as equally dangerous challenges face them at every moment… Chapter 1: "Clash over Atohune"Ga-Toa Laro hurled one powerful bolt of water towards an orange-armored Agori below. After wiping his eyes, he responded with three wooden darts towards her mask, convincing her to rush farther up the ladder. She scrambled up a few more rungs, focusing only on her goal. That goal was to reach Alarist, to get some help for one of her tribe‘s agori. During a border dispute with the very tribe whose territory she was trespassing in, the agori suffered what could be a lethal injury, if not assisted quickly. Unfortunately, her small tribe had no one skilled in healing any species with as much organics as agori, so they had to fetch help from somebody on Alarist. Unfortunately, the tribe they had the dispute with was the one in possession of the Alarist Olmak Totem, and they were not going to allow a toa from her tribe anywhere near the spirit they hosted. She had been able to get a head start on them by using a Noble Kanohi Huna, but now it didn’t look like that head start would matter much.About thirty feet left to the top. Laro thought to herself. Thirty feet from Alar --Her thoughts were stopped short by a shock up her back. A le-matoran had thrown a wooden dagger into her back, and it had wedged itself in the gears in her back, immobilizing her mechanical parts. As the gears tore through the knife, she screamed mentally -- since her immobile mechanical parts prevented her from opening her mouth. In a sudden start, her gears shredded through the wooden knife, and her mechanical parts whirled to life again. With new energy, she continued climbing, with the orange agori hot on her heels. She reached the top shortly, and hauled herself up onto the platform.“There it is!” Laro exclaimed, dashing for the Olmak Totem. Sure enough, it was marked for Alarist, and she was only a few feet from it now. In her eagerness, however, she failed to notice an anomaly open until the last moment.“Get out of here!” yelled the orange agori. “Don’t you see that you’ve angered him?” He said, referring to the spirits that lived in the towers and controlled the blue energy.“I have no choice!” She replied. “One of your tribe caused the trouble when he attacked one of our agori.”The agori said nothing, and instead leaped over the edge of the tower, grasping one of the rungs below. Laro turned to see a large flaming stone shooting out of the blue energy. She dove to the ground, just avoiding the flying boulder. The rock flew over the tower, and stopped spinning long enough for Laro to recognize it. It was one of the flying metal chunks that those from the Shattered planet called a spacecraft. She didn’t have much time to observe it, however, thanks to a zealous attack by the orange agori and the le-matoran that pursued her earlier. As the orange agori hit her from behind in her legs, the le-matoran hit her high from the front, knocking her over the edge of the tower.Laro’s thoughts went silent as she tumbled through the air. What is there to think about? she asked herself. After all I don’t --She blacked out shortly from the impact. When she could see straight again, she pulled herself up, and found herself on the back of the Clysmax spacecraft. Desperate to get back to the top of the tower, she opened a hatch of the craft, hoping to somehow pilot the flying "rock" to the top again. *** “I don’t take passengers!” called out Kiasu. After having her ship torn apart and transported to Atohune by the OE anomaly, the last thing she needed was a hitchhiker.“Sorry, I have no other options.” the visitor, a toa of water, said. “I need to get to Alarist.”“Well then you’re out of luck.” said Kiasu. “The only place I’m headed to is Ga-Clysmax.”“Please, matoran. One of the agori in my tribe is injured, and none of us know how to heal agori or glatorian.”Kiasu was about to respond that her ship was going down, but she was too distracted at the moment.“Forgive my apparent carelessness, Toa,” Kiasu said in her typical sarcastic tone, “but my steering fell apart in the first anomaly, and there’s a second one waiting for us!”Both toa and matoran closed their eyes in fear as the ship spun into the anomaly. 3. Welcome to the review topic for Current Events, the fifth episode in the Cipher Chronicles. While I wrote most of the episode, the last chapter, conclusion, and much editing were done by Takuta-Nui when he was one of the leaders of the Multiverse Project. Huge thanks to him for helping to get this episode finished!Support BannerMini-GuideTo help readers recall information from past episodes and to summarize any new info in this one, here is a quick guide. General information relevant to this story is included first, and then as new chapters are posted, chapter-specific information will be added. Aethion Expanded Multiverse, Olmak Totems, & Olmak EffectA unique Bionicle realm of eight unique planets, separated by blue unstable spacetime called the Bluespace Ceilings. It was spawned when a Kanohi Olmak, a Mask of Dimensional Gates, left by Takanuva floating in the empty space between dimensions, came into contact with a mysterious energy source and split apart. The fragments of the mask were placed in wooden Totems, which now allow teleportation between seven of the planets. But all of Aethion is being slowly destroyed by the Olmak Effect. Random Bluespace anomalies appear throughout the eight worlds, some causing teleportation, others shredding matter, all crackling with a strange kind of electricity called Blue Energy. Throughout Aethion's 500 years of history, it has slowly gotten worse and worse.Team CipherThe group tasked with solving the major mysteries of Aethion in order to save the Multiverse from the Olmak Effect. Formed in Cipher Chronicles Episode 1. Consists of people who received the Mindtouch, a light telepathic idea sent by the mysterious Presence. Was forced to kill an old enemy, Avsa-Ka, recently and reveal his old secret identity as Arrik Xell, a champion of Barrawahi and enemy of Bajnok.Bajnok -- BAHJ-noahk (as in British-accent "badge", and "oah" here is a single sound midway between oh and ah)Earth Skakdi from Barrawahi, Red Skull Clan champion, bi-bladed silver staff apparently vaporizes on touch. Black armor, face, and spines, brown secondary color, red eyes. Recently was 'ghosted' by Izumal, the first known use of such a power, so is unable to physically interact with the world, unknown if temporary or permanent. Hanashi -- HAH-nah-SHEEFemale Toa of Lightning, Alarist reporterette, famous and trusted Multiverse-wide. Mask Iden. Red mask and body, silver armor, yellow eyes. Toa Tool is a Vortixx Rhotuka Battle Axe, with the Rhotuka power of electricity. Many guards work for her. Has now been voted leader of Team Cipher.Karzahni -- kahr-ZAH-neeCodename of Artahka's friend, also member of R.d.B., Toa of Plasma. Mask Jutlin. Morally questionable, sympathizes with Artahka's struggle against Izumal but mainly is looking out for himself. Rust and "keetorange" yellow-orange; mask keetorange, rust secondary color, and armor bi-colored; red eyes. Is currently managing Team Cipher's mobile headquarters and other tech.Khiri -- KHEE-ree (kh as in German Bach, or you could just say KEE-ree)Female Water Agori on Tanuuk, escaped slave, member of secret fugitive network. Has made many failed escape attempts from the planet, recently succeeded. Blue armor, light blue skin and eyes. M'konglii -- MM-kahng-GLEEEE (the M is pronounced without vowel, last part is like a lengthened "glee")Jungle Glatorian from Atohune, Tribe Echostone, expert farmer and food trader, knows many secrets. Turqoise and dark green armor, white eyes and light gray face skin. Scimitars with green-painted leaf shapes on the out-curving side. Objects:Olmak TotemSmall wooden interplanetary teleportation objects about the size of a milk gallon, each containing one of 42 fragments of the original Kanohi Olmak that was split apart in Aethion's origins. Each of the seven main worlds has six Totems, one for each of the other six planets. Some planets have public Interplanetary Teleportation Hubs (ITHs), which are similar to airports. It is the fragments inside the Totems that Team Cipher wants to fuse together, reforming the Olmak, in the hopes of saving Aethion from the increasing Olmak Effect anomalies, and thus both the supporters and opponents of the plan are focused on the Totems.Bulwark Machine A device that uses some of the unique Bluespace-related physics of Aethion and an amplified Mask of Suppression to protect the Olmak Totems owned by supporters of the Merging. Especially against Izumal Agents; the nanites do not work within a radius around the functioning Bulwarks. Only normal physics, especially mechanics and biology, and the Totems themselves work in this radius.GadgetsCommunications devices primarily, these small robots are shaped like little domes with eight legs, and various compartments out of which come arms with tools of all kinds attached. The communication videoscreen is a circle, and also serves as the robot's eye camera.Gadgets can walk to follow their owners and obey simple voice commands. Many different models exist with a ton of variety in their side functions and tools, but Gadgets in general are so universal even Turaga of Atohune tribes and Tanuuk slaves often have them. Not used at all on Enlightened.Cargo StarArtificial suns and interplanetary cargo teleporters. Since the eight planets and the Bluespace Walls between them are all that exist in Aethion, there is no natural sun. The six main planets thus use these satellites for daylight. The planets spin, while the Cargo Stars stay fixed, so they appear to rise and set.The Bluespace Walls destroy any matter that tries to pass through, so the only safe way to travel from planet to planet is Olmak Totem, but these satellites also use a Star-Trek-style teleportation system. It's only used for cargo due to the risk of degradation, which is about five percent.CleanbotsOne of the products in Toa Zuruk's Enigma Line, made by Miscellaneous Industries of Promathus. They are hovering robots that are carefully programmed to organize and clean automatically, plus their programming is easily customizeable by a simple programming language. There is also an alternate Gadget model that performs the same function but does not hover. Zuruk claims that they are inspired by similar robots used by the inhabitants of planet Enigma.Gemsand, Gems, and OrbsThe currency for most of the planets, these are translucent red and orange/yellow-specked gems of varying sizes. The smallest is the size of sand particles (hence the name Gemsand), and equates to about ten American cents. Golfball-sized Gems equate to ten dollars, and softball-sized Orbs equate to a thousand dollars. Being round, they all must be carried in bags or boxes. Normal people carry Gemsand pouches tied close, sometimes carrying a few Gems in them. Only the rich normally own Orbs. They are all given a identifying “stamp” on the inside via a secret method by the AAG, to prevent the possibility of counterfeiting them, and devices to scan authenticity are common, especially in Gadgets.Other Characters, Organizations, and Locations: BZ-Koro Islands and ForumsAlthough it is called a village (Koro), BZ-Koro is actually a fairly large region comprising five islands, forming the shape of Bionicle's Three Virtues symbol. Each of the islands is devoted to a different theme, and has its own name such as the Island of Time. This is one of the two large “swirl” islands; the other is the Island of Creation, and the three circular ones are called the Islands of Life. Those three are individually the Islands of Unity, Duty, and Destiny. Forums are stone plazas similar to Roman Forums, where inhabitants and visitors can meet to discuss and debate, or to show or sell things they have made. The forums on the Island of Time, for example, are focused on the Bionicle Core Dimension (what we know as the main Bionicle canon dimension) and some talk of other dimensions, time itself, etc. On the central Island of Duty, where the Promathus Totem is located, there is a Forum of Promathus.Interplanetary Teleportation Hub (ITH)The Olmak Totem equivalent of airports -- public complexes with guards for those Totems that are frequently used. Hanashi NewsToa Hanashi's news organization. Broadcasts videoscreen footage to Gadgets or other screens over the Cargo Star communication network to anywhere on the six main planets. Alarist UndergroundA secretive crime organization with a major presence on both BZ-Koro and Wiki-Nui. Known organization structure of a single never-seen leader, a ring of other important leaders who make most decisions, and various lesser leaders. What extremes they plan to go to and the methods they might resort to are unknown, but they often arrange thefts.Promathus Companies and UnionsThere are four major companies, including the one Toa Zuruk works for, Miscellaneous Industries, and two major Unions. One Union, the United Promathus Workers (UPW) represents employees of two of the major companies, including MI, and the other, the Guild, is for employees of the other two companies, including Experimental Industries.Okotenga -- OH-koh-TEHNG-guhOnu-Matoran, CEO of Miscellaneous Enterprises on Promathus. Mask shape of Conjuring.Anaana -- ah-NAH-ah-nuhA female Makuta of Light, leader of the Guild union on Promathus.Izumal AgentsThe main enemies of Team Cipher. Encased in their powerful silver nanite suits, Agents are feared by all opponents of the Enlightened City across Aethion. They act as police for the City, hunt hackers among the Izumal exile camps, and sometimes interfere with other planets. There are two clear rules; they never kill, and they are apparently unstoppable. Yet, prior to Team Cipher's formation, their attacks seemed both nonsensically pointless.Since then, however, Izumal has delivered one clear message that they oppose the Merging Plan, and later has done various things to oppose Team Cipher, including a direct attack that ghosted Bajnok and Ekinodus, and nearly ghosted Kyn and others too.Known Agents include Brute, a heavyset humanoid who had been attacking offworld for a long time, Visor, a new offworld Agent that has focused on Team Cipher, and two offworlders who have just been recruited as Agents, including Toa Merx, who formerly worked for the rulers of Tanuuk. Besides those newest two, the real names of Agents are unknown; the nicknames used were given to them by Hanashi for convenience.Alarist Ambassadorial GovernmentConsisting of representatives of both BZ-Koro and Wiki-Nui who meet on the central island in Alarist's ocean, this group is responsible for managing Alarist's Offworld trade and relations. They oversee and partially fund Team Cipher. Avsa-Ka -- AHV-suh KAH The serial killer mutant Matoran that Kyn was recently forced to kill. Prologue Information:Ultarius – ool-TAH-ree-uhsA BZ-Koro Skrall, in charge of security at the Promathus ITH on the Island of Duty.Nurops Species -- NOO-rahpsEyebrain species. Shaped like metal versions of Koosh balls (521 thin arms) with a single large biological eye. Extremely talented at making predictions and calculations based on what they see. Rare. Color: Metallics only, but eyes come in any color. Ekinodus – EH-kih-NOH-duhsA Nurops related to a friend of Kyn's, but also once the mentor of Avsa-Ka before he became a murderer. Is furious that Kyn killed him, refuses to believe Avsa-Ka was too far gone. Also was subjected to the Izumal ghosting, like Bajnok, and a cure has not been found.Demolition Inc.Kyn's demolition business, run entirely by him and a fleet of demobots. Mostly demolishes buildings on Promathus which wear down fast due to the intense pollution.Royal Steward & Lady Sulmiris – Sool-MEE-rihsTwo high-ranking Tyrants of Tanuuk who were both involved in plots on Barrawahi in opposition to Team Cipher, though the Merging was not their motivations. They were teleported to Alarist and arrested. The AAG is currently in talks with Tanuuk about whether or not to let them return there.Chapter 1 InformationGlomosulfurA pervasive substance on Promathus's continent, which most buildings are made of due to being so inexpensive, but these buildings slowly corrode and must be demolished and replaced often. Most of Kyn's business is thus on Promathus.ElementsThere are many more elements of Matoran and Toa in the Multiverse than in the Core Dimension. Some extra elements involved or mentioned in this story include Blue Energy (related to Bluespace), Kinetics, Acid, and Crystal.Troak Species -- TROH-ahkBulky, Toa-height beings with spiky decorations on the shoulders and legs, all have minor elemental powers, but ones with big OOMPH, like Cyclone. Wear and use masks. Troak come in all main canon and EM elements. They're most common on Izumal but live in various places. The Troak mentioned in Chapter 1 is of the Ba (Gravity) association, with the power of Crushslow, which produces intense gravity and slows time down slightly except for the user.Makan – mah-kahnA Po-Matoran of BZ-Koro's Island of Time. A merchant, and collector of rare Kanoka disks, including a Kanoka of Blue Energy.Blue GrimeBlack clumpy gel-like substance that glows blue in patches. Is materialized Bluespace energy. Has very little friction, slowly converts to electricity if a wire circuit is attached, and explodes violently if overloaded by a huge amount of outside electricity. Thus triples as engine/industrial lubricant, power source, and explosives. Element-Resistant GlassSelf-explanatory, with emphasis on resistant. Hard to melt or break especially.Star PortalA winning entry in the Vehicles contest, it is a strange teleportation artifact that hovers in the sky far above Wiki-Nui's Museum. Its most important feature is a sphere of black and purple energy that occasionally sends out lightning. Above this are a pair of silver wings that seem like a mix between the skeleton of dragon wings and angel wings. Below this is a long tapering silver spiral, in a Fibonacci sequence (a mathematical proportion in which each right-angle curve in the spiral fills a square that is a part of a rectangle, and in the remainder of the rectangle, a smaller square with a curve in it is placed inside a smaller rectangle, and so forth). It was originally discovered as a mere silver sphere on Atohune, one example among many of strange and highly mysterious artifacts discovered on that jungle world. It was brought to Alarist by Cargo Star for study, but as soon as it materialized it began transforming with various strange effects including a massive earthquake, until it ended up in its current position and form. Its method of travel is accomplished by physically touching the purple and black energy (by using some kind of hovering device to reach it). You disappear and exist in some kind of energy form inside it, and you are able to pick any place on the same planet that does not have Bluespace between you and it, and be teleported there safely.Chapter 2 InformationAerospace Jet R-10A winning entry in the Vehicles contest. Lightly armored, highly maneuverable air/space craft made by Lake Aerospace. Comes in a simple and upgraded form (latter shown above). Very common across the planets, as they're cheap, but have limited carrying capacity and can't stay in space for long. Solar powered.Lake AerospacePopular vehicle company based on Ga-Clysmax. While building a group of new vehicles, especially new designs, they keep their spherical, glass-covered headquarters submerged in a massive lake, only surfacing when the latest group is finished. Wiki-Nui MuseumWiki-Nui is shaped just like the canon Metru Nui, and the Museum is shaped like the canon Coliseum in the city's center. Among many other purposes, this is where Toa Swert rules the city, and public computer libraries can be found throughout it, tapping into reference information stored across the whole island. Like all buildings in WN, it is colored blue. The Star Portal hovers far in the air directly above the Museum.Wanvergerg Steam-Powered Floating MachineA blimp who propulsion system is powered by steam, and has a turret that fires explosive projectiles for defense. Common on Promathus. The team studying the Star Portal on Alarist has a modified, larger version of one.Team Star PortalAs the name implies, this is the research group that studies the Star Portal. Phantoka MotorsThe Promathus company that makes vehicles of all kinds. Although various smaller companies also make vehicles, they are only rivaled in popularity by Lake Aerospace. They made Team Star Portal's custom airship.Dataguard AlphaA winning Denizens contest entry, he is the leader of the Dataguards, a group of robots that manage and protect Wiki-Nui's reference archives. Humanoid, can shorten body parts like pistons, down to the size of an Agori, face looks like a mask of Sensory Aptitude, with a small projector/camera/videophone mounted on the side of the head at the level of the robot's eyes. Colored in various shades of blue, with yellow eyes. Its build resembles that of Ackar's armor. Chapter 3 InformationAiklaA female Vortixx, in charge of Team Star Portal.Ghost BubbleA dangerous phenonenon of the planet Izumal; invisible bubbles of spacetime that can pull in particulate, liquids, and objects, even people. Mask of Forcefield ControlGenerates mostly-wall-like forcefields in whatever shapes the user imagines. The fields are not as solid as shields generated with a Kanohi Hau and higher-powered projectiles can go through them. Travel PodsSpecial small craft designed specifically to transport one passenger to the Star Portal, so they can enter it to teleport somewhere else on Alarist. Used mainly by Team Star Portal for research.Hut MansionA type of Clysmax building for rich inhabitants like Kyn. Most buildings on Clysmax are technologically advanced versions of huts. Hut Mansions are essentially many hut domes connected, often stacked in pyramid-like formations. Kyn's Mansion Hut has many floors and domes for various machines and other things he has collected.DarkflySpace vehicles used by Ko-Clysmax. Hoverengines and blasters, room for three. Many models, but the most common one looks like it has two forward-pointing wings on either sides, with hover-engines that also propel, and a belly that can open up like a cargo plane. Eclipse FrigateThe Eclipse is a multi function frigate used extensively by the Ice Clysmax forces as a large intimidation and extermination machine. The Eclipse class frigate is able to bombard small settlements with its complement of missiles, many of which are outfitted with cryo technology, which when used, can freeze masses of buildings, land, or even beings. DemobotsKyn's fleet of demolition robots. They have fairly advanced programming for the analyzing of structures and placing explosives, but beyond this Kyn can control them directly with a Biomechanics power he has added into his Gadget.Ice KingThe current imperialistic leader of Ko-Clysmax. (His name is not yet established.) He was responsible for the theft of Onu-Clysmax's recent Totem.Chapter 4 InformationSonic WelderThe first product in Zuruk's Enigma Line, it uses focused sound waves (and silencing fields beyond the beam) to weld metal without using dangerous heat. Welding is common across many worlds and so this product was immensely popular, even on poorer worlds. Cargo Star InternetSimilar to the real-world internet, this computer network connects Gadgets and other devices to the Cargo Star satellites orbiting the six main worlds. Websites are made available from server devices, especially in Wiki-Nui, Clysmax, and Promathus, which can be accessed anywhere wirelessly.KhazaA female Turaga of Crystal who lives on the Island of Time in BZ-Koro. One of Makan's neighbors.Eccentric RockA winning Weapons contest entry (also made canon). It normally appears as a small rock, but when thrown so that it shatters against a target, a sticky substance inside forms a cage that entraps the target. So-named due to the odd shapes the cages usually form.Lightstone RifleA winning Weapons entry. It fires lightstones charged up with electrical energy, which shatter on impact, zapping a target and releasing a flash of light. A common stunning weapon, also effective against beings of shadow.LevitaasA winning Denizens contest entry; he is a Matoran of Lightning, formerly a Ta-Matoran, that is part of a small team of order-keeping on Alarist. He never spoke of his past, mostly because he doesn't want to do it. Brave and heroic, he'll do anything to accomplish his missions, but he is considered a bit too serious, being very cold and antisocial for a Ta-Matoran. Because of this he has a hard time at working in a team. He is a great swordsman, and is very skilled for a Matoran. He desires to become a Toa one day, and wants to do more than he can right now.He wields a big sword, but made of light Protodermis so he can handle it easily, that also produces weak electric energy. He wears a Rode, because it is a symbol of truth and justice. AAG Elite Security Squad 5TLevitaas's team. As the name implies, the team is focused on protecting the people of Alarist, and he answers to the chain of command in the Alarist Ambassadorial Government. They are often deployed in emergencies involving the Alarist Underground crime syndicate.Yhamkut – YHAHM-kootSecond-in-command of Team Star Portal, a Skakdi.Chapter 5 InformationSorek the Observer A Denizens contest winning entry; a Matoran of unknown origins, who is sent to various places by the Alarist Underground to observe events. He is not supposed to get involved, merely watch and record, until they activate a teleportation beacon that is believed to be from Izumal, opening a dimensional portal that sends him to the next place. But he is not content with that, so he often disobeys and intervenes to try to do some good. Because the device is a dimensional transporter, it can even be used to send him into alternate Aethion dimensions, often to observe how things might have gone had things been different. Unfortunately it can only be used if the remote control device owned by the AU commands it to activate, and they completely control where he appears next.Experimental IndustriesOne of the main Promathus companies, whose employees belong to the Guild. It was they who invented the Cargo Stars, among many other things.Fireworks RevolverA Weapons contest winning entry. It fires a multi-stage fireworks shell as a projectile. Since each shell launches a short-range group of smaller explosive in a sphere around the first impact, one short can do the damage of a multitude of shots by a normal weapon. A Fireworks Revolver was Kyn's standard weapons in his former life as a Barrawahi Champion, and he has recently recovered it.Chapter 6 InformationTeam Cipher NetworkA collective-call Gadget network exclusive to Team Cipher, designed by Karzahni. As many members of the team as needed can see each other on splitscreen videophone calls for virtual meetings.Atohune Totem TowersOn the Tribal world, the totems are atop wooden towers that are carried from place to place by the primitive denizens. The widespread myth is that the Olmak Effect becoming more common in an area means that spirits inside the Totems are bored, and so the people try hard to prevent the possibility of boredom. Thus even rival tribes will work together to move the towers from one territory to the next occasionally.Blue EnergyA Toa and Matoran element exclusive to Aethion; it is similar to electricity but comes from Bluespace, including the Olmak Anomalies that randomly appear on the planets. It can also be materialized into Blue Grime, a useful substance in the EM, or have various anomaly-related effects, though its most important use is as a power source for various devices, some of which cannot be powered by normal electricity, especially those that create transformative effects or teleportation.“Bumpy space”This refers to the fairly recent discovery by Aethion scientists that all the spacetime (the invisible fabric of reality that matter inhabits) in Aethion is the unstable type that Bluespace is. The Bluespace in the Ceilings between the planets is “bumpy space” that matter cannot long survive in, but the space nearer to the planets is “flattened” by the presence of air and other materials. Thus, a device like the Bulwark machines' inner workings that pushes all air out of a place can cause the space there to become bumpy, and produce a high amount of Blue Energy. Toa Artakha was the first to realize that the Star Portal could smooth Bluespace even from anomalies, so its potential for Team Cipher's plans to solve the Olmak Effect may be huge, including safe travel through the Ceilings.Chapter 7 InformationMask of CalculationAllows the wearer to make complex mathematical calculations in moments. A suggestion accepted from the (archived) EM discussion topic.Hagah Plasma Cannon A weapons contest winner (also canonized); dual-mode shoulder-mounted plasma blaster with an attachable ground-mount base for Turret Cannon mode. Fires bolts of plasma along a wavelength-harmonized laser path to the target. Blaster mode is generally too heavy for Matoran sized beings, who usually use it in Turret mode. Anti-ElementsStrange types of elements that are, as the name implies, opposite versions of normal elements. Typically they react negatively to the normal element they are opposite of, and can have a wide range of weird physics effects. They are a fairly new frontier in Aethion science that are not well understood.SubspaceA physics aspect of Aethion that can enable instantaneous communication over any distance, used by Izumal technology widely. Signals can vary over a range of frequencies much like radio waves, and must be encrypted to avoid eavesdropping as they can be detected anywhere with the right technology. Subspace distress signals must also send a position locator, and are typically not encrypted, so that the chances of help coming are higher. Also, given enough time Izumal can usually decrypt any signal.Team Cipher's Mobile HQA cube of Macrochips – pre-nanite Enlightened large computers used by Izumal hackers as both computers and as walls and ceilings for their buildings – with airfields, invisibility cloaking power, and motion power. Normally it is randomly moving as a submarine in Alarist's ocean to avoid detection by Agents, but it can hover in the air as well.

  5. A Tale of Two PathsReview Topic Current Chapter: #14: "Statorak Furax"A Tale of Two Paths is the story of a Ga-Matoran from the Water Fragment of Shattered, who through the Olmak Effect anomaly is stranded far from Clysmax with almost no hope of ever returning. Along with her, as a Ga-Toa from Tribal, who forms a bond with the Ga-Matoran after the crash. Soon afterwards, they are separated.Constructive criticism and mountains of praise are welcome. (Preferably the latter) Also, if you have some suggestions to improve my writing style, tell me.This story was originally posted on the old boards, unfinished. Recently, I decided to pick it up again and (hopefully) finish it. I will gradually repost the chapters until I hit the new stuff, in order to avoid having the boards automerge the chapters.Mini-Guide:To those unfamiliar with the Expanded Multiverse, much of this may be confusing. To remedy that predicament, I'll place information relevant to the story here, so you don't have to dig through the EM guides to find the information you seek. The Expanded Multiverse (or Aethion) is a project created by bonesiii and Swert, for BZPower members to participate it. You might call it BZP and BS01's official fanon. In-story, Aethion was created when that Kanohi Olmak that Toa Empress Tuyet lost in Dark Mirror was shattered while in dimensional space. The result was the creation of a highly unstable alternate universe containing eight worlds seperated by a dangerous field of dimesional energy called "Bluespace". The universe is endangered by the growing instability of the "Olmak Effect" which is essentially the manifestation of dimensional warping. This causes unstable portals between worlds to be created, altered history, appearances, and other stuff that would make Dr. Emelius Brown throw a fit. Time-space continu-whatever and 88 mph. and all that. The governments of some of the worlds have started projects to try to combat this entropy, like Team Cipher, the subject of The Cipher Chronicles. But that doesn't matter all that much in A Tale of Two Paths. The only safe method of travel between the planets of Aethion are Olmak Totems: little wooden objects containing the fragments of the shattered Olmak. By touching one, a person is teleported from that totem to its corresponding totem on the destination world. Many beings are teleported unwillingly by Olmak anomalies: turbulent portals that are created when the Olmak Effect is particularly unstable. These anomalies are extremely dangerous, and can cause great potential physical and mental injuries. New beings are created by the olmak effect in Aethion, and like the rest of the expanded multiverse, they are usually combined from beings from the various other dimensions, and some characters, like Akla, in this story, bear an almost exact resemblance to other beings, although they always are differentiated from the source material in several ways.A few other miscellaneous facts about the Olmak Effect taken from the Official EM Reference Topic: When the Olmak Totems of a planet are brought closer together, the Olmak Effect on that planet gets worse and for this reason they are usually kept apart. Some believe that if the six totems of a planet were brought together, the resulting distorsions would teleport a person to Enigma. The Olmak Effect doesn't occur near the Izumal power source, though the reason, like the power source itself, is unknown. The only beings who don't know about, or don't accept, these findings are the Atohune natives, who believe the Olmak Effect is caused by the boredom of the spirits.Atohune is the Tribal world. Heavily forested, it is populated by inumerable primitive tribes that worship 'spirits' living in gigantic towers that contain the Olmak totems of this world. These towers are carried by tribes from one location to the other for the purpose of entertaining the spirits. Since they believe that the spirits cause the Olmak effect when they are displeased, they give the towers priority over everything, and no tribe ever gets in the way if they can help it.In this story, however, one of the tribes is in a bit of a tight spot. A tiny tribe of nomads is trapped between all of the tribes bearing totems, and one of the tribes want to move their tower to the location of the nomads, and unless they scram, the agressors will take them out of the picture. Their turaga will have to buy time in order to survive, but how long can they hold out?Izumal is the Enlightened world. Izumal is entirely separate from the other planets, both for their extreme technological advancement and for its culture of enlightenment and purity. This planet is unique in that it is made primarily out of protodermic silver and gold. Its main citizens live in a single city made mostly of powerful silver nanites with protodermic powers and a highly secret unlimited power source (or so they claim). Virtually anything you can imagine is made possible by the nanites there, and its citizens are totally at peace with each other; crime is almost unheard of, and few ever desire to leave. They do not allow travel to here from other worlds; visitors are told to immediately go home, or be imprisoned, lest the harmony of this world be unbalanced. They have become able to control the weather, so that clouds from the oceans move directly into receptables in the city that feed water to canals. They can also use controlled tornadoes for security purposes. There are outlying criminal camps in the wilderness, and criminals enter the city sometimes. There are thus police and investigators. Most crimes involve hacking, so the camps are also called hacker camps, though not every camp has hackers in it. Agents wearing powerful nanite suits war against these camps, and from time to time, they show up on mysterious missions on the other planets, bullying their way to whatever it is they want. When they go on these offworld missions, they are unstoppable and spark terror in the hearts of all, but they do not kill, and their goals don't even seem to make tactical sense. They claim to be good, but most Aethion inhabitants see them as the real evil of this universe. (Taken from the Expanded Multiverse Reference Topic)The other worlds are the Central planet, Alarist; the Shattered planet, Clysmax; the Industrial planet, Promathus; the Tyrant planet, Tanuuk; the Warzone planet, Barrawahi; and Enigma. Information on all these (except Enigma, obviously) can be found here, but none of the story takes place on any of those planets, so it shouldn't be too important.Main Characters: Laro is a toa of water from Atohune, who was sent by the turaga of her nomad tribe to retreive help from Alarist for one of their villagers. She wears a Great Mask of Concealment, and looks basically like a Toa Mata. You'll learn more about her as you read. Kiasu is a Ga-Matoran from Clysmax, and serves in the air force of the Allied Fragments of Clysmax. In the midst of a firefight, she was brought to Atohune by an Olmak anomaly caused by the convergence of various Tribal Olmak Totem towers. She looks like a smaller version of the Av-Matoran/Shadow Matoran from '08, and wears a kanohi shaped like a Great Hau. She has extra armor on her torso and shoulders issued by the Clysmax military, and bears the insignia of her unit and rank on her shoulders. Like Laro, you'll learn about her as you read. Here's a height comparison for your convenience:The rest of the mini-guide information will be placed in spoiler tags corresponding with each chapter. 6. THE AGENT CRISIS ONE Year 482Creva’s eyes slowly opened. Some part of his still partially-asleep mind registered his alarm clock ringing again. Almost automatically, he dragged himself close to the bedside table. Hands fumbled while searching for the alarm clock; found it; shut it down.He blinked. Do I really have to get up?Of course he did. Yet that knowledge didn’t make him any happier.A few seconds later he gave up and lifted himself off the bed of his hut. A few steps forward and he reached his table. He quickly prepared and ate a light breakfast. It didn’t take him much longer to find his public transport ticket and get his small pack ready. A glance outside his window then revealed dark clouds covering the sky. He sighed and grabbed his small umbrella. Then he was ready. He opened the door and found himself in a narrow street, one of the hundreds that connected every location in Bz-Koro.It took ten minutes for Creva to reach one of the larger streets. By that time, the rest of Bz-Koro had started to wake up. Creva preferred to get up slightly earlier than most people: it allowed him not to rush things. Some minutes later the bus reached the bus stop where Creva was waiting. A medium-sized walkcraft, it connected the area where Creva lived to the nearest transport hub, from which the Onu-Matoran would take another transport to work. It wasn’t the quickest route, a private vehicle would have made the trip faster, but Creva had never felt the need for one. Public transport was just fine for him.He boarded the walkcraft and found a seat. The bus line was never very crowded. He opened his bag and took out a small Gadget. It wasn’t the most common model, it was much smaller, for instance, and had no legs, but it still provided enough services for Creva’s standards and in addition the Matoran considered it easier to carry around. He turned on the screen and accessed Hanashi News. An image appeared on it, the image of a semi-collapsed Forum Plaza. Creva took a small pair of headphones out of his bag and connected them to his Gadget. Then he put them on.“Last night, an Olmak Anomaly materialized inside this Forum Plaza,” the reporterette was saying. “It immediately came in contact with its floor. Unfortunately, it turned abruptly into a matter-shredder at that very moment. Even though it lasted for a split second, it was enough to destroy most of the Forum Plaza and severely weaken the ground surrounding it, causing several buildings in the vicinity to partially collapse. The entire area has been evacuated until these can be stabilized and repaired. I am told that Toa of Stone and Earth are at work at this very moment to do so.There are no casualties, though there have been several wounded, eleven seriously. There hasn’t been such a destructive Olmak Anomaly in Bz-Koro for nearly half a year. In a few minutes I’ll be joined by an expert to discover what should and will be done to avoid this kind of damage in the future.”Creva turned off the Gadget and groaned. The Onu-Matoran worked in a government department subdivision which monitored and kept record of Olmak Effect damage on the Island of Time in Bz-Koro. He would undoubtedly be assigned this episode. Though perhaps, given the scale of the destruction, he could convince his boss to let a few more colleagues help… Such thoughts were temporarily banished at Creva’s arrival at the transport hub. He got out of the bus and made his way through the busy station to his next transport.Half an hour later the Onu-Matoran reached the floor of the giant multi-floored hut where he worked. It was almost completely occupied by a large open office containing several rows of tables. Creva went to his post and sat down. Most of his colleagues still hadn’t arrived. Suddenly one of his friends, Warin, strode inside the room and took a seat next to him.“Hey, there,” said the Glatorian. “Did you hear about the Forum Plaza?”“Yeah,” said Creva. “Who do you think the boss will assign it?”“Let’s see…” said Warin, as if actually thinking about it. “Could it be… you?”“Great. You really know how to cheer someone up.”“Oh, relax. It’s not that bad. Sure, it’s going to be at least 1000 Orbs of damage, probably more, but who cares?”“If I get it, I’ll be sure to ask the boss to assign you to the task as well.”“Good luck with that. We’ve all got a lot of work to do ourselves and she knows that.”Creva didn’t answer.“Oh, come on, cheer up! Listen, I’m taking a trip to the Island of Duty to hear what they’re saying at the Olmak Effect Forum this afternoon. Want to come along?”“I’ll think about it.”Meanwhile, more of their colleagues had started to come in. Half an hour later, Creva’s boss, a Turaga of Blue Energy called Yudra, walked out of her own office and called for Creva to come with her.The Onu-Matoran cursed and did his best to ignore Warin’s grin.It was worse than he had thought. Creva had to go on the site itself, spend hours talking at various people, file in a monumental report and, last but not least, get drenched by the rainstorm that had come about.Eventually he managed to get back to his post and relax for a few minutes in his chair. Then he finished his report and delivered it to Yudra.“Good job, Creva,” she said. “It must not have been easy.”“It wasn’t,” confessed the Onu-Matoran.“Go back to your post and resume your duties, but don’t concern yourself with anything major. For today you’re finished.”“Thank you, Turaga.”As the Olmak Effect was a very important issue in all Aethion, Bz-Koro had more than one Forum Plaza devoted to the topic. The discussions were quite similar in all of them, though there were some small differences. The Forum Plaza on the Island of Time, for example, mostly dealt with the scientific aspect of the Olmak Effect. However, the one Creva and Warin were interested in was the Forum Plaza on the Island of Duty. Since that island was mainly devoted to rules, laws and the Bz-Koro government in general took place, the Olmak Effect was discussed mostly in relation to how it was handled by the Bz-Koro institutions. When Warin, Creva and two other colleagues of theirs walked into the Plaza, they found it quite crowded, in spite of the still-falling rain. Creva guessed it was due to the rumors about the Bz-Koro government wanting to create a new department devoted exclusively to the Olmak Effect. It would bring together many divisions and subdivisions currently affiliated with other departments, including theirs. Sure enough, most of the Plaza was occupied by a large crowd of people standing in front of a lone speaker.“… and it would also mean having more money at the new department’s disposal. This would allow the government to deal with the Olmak Effect more efficiently and with fewer bureaucratic procedures. We’ve known since Creation that Olmak Anomalies would increase over time and yet until now this emergency hasn’t really been dealt as such. We have a handful of departments that have trouble coordinating together every time there is a real incident. This new reform will solve the problem.”Creva and Warin positioned themselves at the back of the crowd. Warin whispered:“I may have something to say. I’ll go closer. What about you?”“Not today. I’ll just listen.”“Do you mind if I cite today’s episode and your work on it?”“Go right ahead.”A Ga-Matoran had started speaking.“I disagree with what has been said until now. Though it is true that the Olmak Effect is dealt with by different departments, I think this organization works perfectly. We hear about more and more incidents, but there actually isn’t anything else we can do about it. Everything is being handled to the best of the government’s capability. On the other hand, creating a new department in this situation would only be detrimental to the efficiency of the system. If there is an incident while everything is being re-arranged, the response will be slow and ineffective. Let’s not waste time and money…”The problem with this kind of discussion, thought Creva, is the lack of any real data. Instead of quoting official information, people say things which they can’t prove to be right or wrong. That said, a new department would probably help, though the transition would be chaotic…A Turaga had taken the stand. His low voice could barely be heard amidst all the whispering going on in the crowd. The Forum Moderator called for silence.“I believe that whether this department is right or wrong isn’t the real issue here. The Olmak Effect is increasing and soon enough it won’t matter how Bz-Koro, or for that matter any other government, will be handling it. The only solution is preventing the incidents from occurring. There must be an effort to stop the Olmak Effect once and for all, or at least to predict it. The planets, good and evil, should come together to achieve this…”The cessation of the Olmak Effect would cause me to lose my job, but ultimately the Turaga is right. The situation can’t go on like this. Though what he’s saying seems slightly off topic…A Dendrokan was now speaking.“I wouldn’t speculate on how to stop the Olmak Effect. However, I agree on the fact that our efforts must be more widespread. The problem is universal. Olmak Anomalies teleport people between planets, so a single department on Bz-Koro isn’t enough. There should be one organization for the entire Multiverse, or at least that part which is allied to us.”I see the logic. Though creating such a thing would be enormously complicated. The next speaker made no real contribution to all the discussion, instead accusing the Bz-Koro government of not really caring about all the Olmak Effect issue. He felt Bz-Koro didn’t do enough to help its citizens transported to hostile planets. However, his story partially justified this hatred. He was a Bz-Koro citizen who had been teleported by the Olmak Effect to Tanuuk thirty years before. He had labored as a slave for twenty-six years before managing to escape through the then-unguarded Alarist Olmak Totem. Creva’s feelings of sympathy seemed to be mirrored by the Forum Moderator in charge of the Plaza. Despite his behavior, the Moderator didn’t really have the courage to stop his speech. After that, the speeches gradually became more similar. After some time, the Onu-Matoran felt like each new speaker was simply repeating what someone else had already said. Listening really wasn’t worth his time.I have to go.It was almost Warin’s turn to speak. He had listened to the other speakers and gradually decided what to say. His speech wouldn’t be too long, but it would certainly contribute to the topic. Then he spotted Creva walk toward one of the Forum Plaza’s exits. It was strange. He would have expected the Matoran to stay and hear his speech, or at the very least tell him before going away. The Glatorian sighed. He’d have liked to speak, but for Creva to walk off like this meant there was something important going on. He tried to make his way to his friend. It was difficult, people kept getting in the way. Eventually Creva vanished behind the wall of the Forum Plaza. Warin thought about returning to the discussion, but at this point he would cause even more disturbance by trying to do that and he would have to wait much longer before managing to take the stand. Finally he got out of the crowd and headed for the walls of the Plaza. He quickly reached its end. Creva was already outside and was walking rapidly.“Hey, Creva!” he called. The Onu-Matoran didn’t turn. Warin was surprised.“Creva!” he called, louder this time.Still the Onu-Matoran didn’t stop or even turn.He must have heard me.Warin tried to catch up with Creva. What could be happening? Creva wasn’t known for ignoring his friends.Creva turned into a small alley, disappearing from Warin’s sight. The Glatorian started running. He turned. Creva wasn’t there. He had disappeared. The Glatorian sighed. What could he be up to?Anyway, it was useless. If Creva didn’t want to talk to him he saw no point in trying to find him. After some time he would call the Onu-Matoran at home and try to understand what had happened. The discussion in the Forum Plaza seemed to be approaching an end. Warin decided it would be useless to return. He walked away, heading for home.Review Topic

Alarmed, the white-and-sand-blue Toa of Ice broke into a run.Zuruk had been carrying on negotiations with the representatives of leaders of major Industrial companies via Gadget for a few days. They supported the Olmak Merging Plan, but were unwilling to officially endorse it at this time. Things had been going well, however, until the representative of The Guild requested his personal presence. And so he was going back to the planet he represented; to the Industrial Totem on the central island of BZ-Koro. It was located in the Promathus Forum, near the Hapori Tohu statue on the central island. All matters related to the planet Promathus were discussed in that forum.Unfortunately, in BZ-Koro there was limited ground transportation, so he had to suffice with walking. He couldn't wait to get to Industrial, where at least he could enjoy the comfort of a taxi. But it was from the Interplanetary Teleportation Hub holding that Totem where smoke was rising.Zuruk quickly reached the ITH. The building had been ripped open by high-yield explosives. A team of emergency response robots was putting out fires and clearing away debris. Before he could look around any further, he was greeted by an anxious Skrall named Ultarius, who was the commander of security at the ITH."Toa Zuruk! The Olmak Totem has been stolen!" Ultarius shouted.Zuruk sighed. I was afraid of that. Why else would anyone attack an ITH?Before he could say anything in response to Ultarius, Zuruk's Gadget beeped. He raised a hand apologetically and activated it.It was Toa Hanashi. She looked tired."Zuruk - we just received a report that the Promathus Totem has been stolen. Have you reached the ITH yet?" she asked."I have," Zuruk said. "Gadget, perform a slow spin." With that command, the Gadget began a slow rotation, allowing Hanashi to see the devastation of the ITH.When the panoramic display was complete, Hanashi frowned."The Alarist Ambassadorial Government has received a voice-only message from someone claiming to represent the Alarist Underground, claiming responsibility for this attack," she said."The local crime syndicate? Do they have the resources to pull this off?" questioned Zuruk."They do," Hanashi said. "In the last few months, there have been more and more thefts in BZ-Koro. I did a story on it when it started."Zuruk nodded. "I was on Enigma at that time, of course. But why would they want the Olmak Totem? Do they have an agenda, or are they just trying to cause trouble?" He had never thought much about the crime ring before. He remembered that Okotenga, CEO of Miscellaneous Enterprises and his boss, had once complained they were losing profits due to thefts by the crime ring on Alarist, but it hadn't been his job to worry about that.It wasn't my job to worry about anything back then, other than Gadget updates. How glad I am things have changed..."We don't know their agenda - the identity and goals of their mysterious leader are totally unknown. But in this case, they told us what they wanted," Hanashi responded.Zuruk was confused. "And? What is it?"Hanashi hesitated. "They want the AAG's money stamping secret," she responded.Zuruk's eyes widened. "They have to know the AAG would never give it up. Not even for an Olmak Totem." If he was the AAG, he would have licensed the secret out to high-paying parties long ago to maximize profit. That's what Experimental Industries had done with the Cargo Stars. And how simpler would this be if it was Promathus that had invented the secret... we would give it to them and get back the totem, problem solved.Hanashi nodded. "You're right - they won't negotiate. So, here's your first mission as second-in-command of Team Cipher. Get to the bottom of this. The AAG won't negotiate. The crime syndicate claims to have hidden the Olmak Totem where we will never find it - never even think to look. Your job is to try and prove them wrong. We need to find the Totem."Zuruk nodded. "I'll do my best," he promised. "Any other news?""Nothing really new," Hanashi responded. "Artakha and Karzahni have had no luck curing the ghosting of Bajnok and Ekinodus, and neither have any of the other scientists who've studied it. They say it is probably completely impossible, unless they can figure out what powers were used. Barrawahi is still on the brink of a civil war. Negotiations are beginning between the AAG and Tanuuk over the release of the Royal Steward and Lady Sulmiris. No new Agent sightings."Zuruk nodded again, and Hanashi closed the channel. The Toa of Ice sighed, turned and stared at the devastated ITH. How to begin...

SSC#9: In The Darkness Bind Them entry Tirashos, Southern BZ-Koro Coastline, Year 271, Day 25, 6.45 Lunar TimeThere was only One thing that mattered, and that was his golden Kanoka. He remembered his turaga saying, "Keep it out of harm's way. It is the One Kanoka to rule them all. It cannot be damaged, but hold it close to you, Galuk.""Yes, Turaga. But should I go into hiding?""No. They will find you and take the kanoka, no matter what," The turaga paused for a second. "Stay on the move, and stay in a spot only overnight."Turaga Braap looked at the teal toa."I depart at morning," Said Galuk.---Tirashos, Day 26, 2.12 Solar Time"Galuk! Wake up," a matoran whispered forcefully."Dala? What's wrong?""Turaga Norel told me to find you. She says her scrying has found Zyglak coming to the mainland.""So I leave now?""Hang on," the matoran stated. "She said to try to evade them as much as possible. They know you're somewhere near BZ-Koro, but don't exactly know where. She suggests you go to Warzone.""Tell her I'll leave at 5.""I will."---Barawahi, Horizon Castle, Year 271, Day 26, 5.45 Solar Time"You must be Galuk. Welcome to the home of the Hand of Faith Clan, Horizon Castle.""And you are...?" Galuk asked."I am Makor, and Makor means Me!""What is your position in the Hand of Faith?""I am Lord Makor, King Xaran's secretary and chief adviser.""Has His Majesty been informed of my arrival?""Let's walk. His Majesty has been told of a visitor, but nothing more than that," explained Makor."Then I guess we should meet him, eh?""Yes. My Lord," Makor spoke into his gauntlet, "We have a visitor.""Makor!" A hearty voice exclaimed from the speaker. "Bring him in! I'd like to see him.""Yes, Your Majesty."---Horizon Castle, 6.00 Solar Time"Ho ho ho!" Laughed King Xaran mirthfully. "So you're saying that this 'magical kanoka' cannot be destroyed?""Yes! Exactly!" Exclaimed Galuk."May I see it?""Be my guest," says Galuk, handing the kanoka disk to the king."Makor, fetch me a Blue Grime grenade.""Yes, m'lord," says Makor."What! Are you crazy?""Actually, the term you're looking for is 'insane'," corrected Xaran. "And yes, I'm insane. However, I have an inkling as to what this disk actually is." Makor reappears and hands the king a blur grenade, one without a pin, and a taser-like object and walks back to the side. King Xaran then places the grenade on the kanoka and carefully, slowly, surely just barely touches it with the taser.---Horizon Castle, 6.10 Solar TimeThe effect was instantaneous: Blue exploded everywhere but quickly dissipated. The beings were a bit flustered and shaken up by this, and yet were surprised when the golden disk still remained intact."Just as I thought," said the King. "This is no ordinary kanoka. This kanoka grants the user invisibility, but its powers are not just limited to just that. Fire it, and no one can see you. Once it automatically returns to you, fire it again, and you're visible. It cannot be destroyed, unless by the fires of the Magmoor Volcano on Tyrant."All of a sudden, an alarm sounds very loudly in their ears."What's that?""Oh, just nothing. Probably another clan trying to beat us. It happens many times."Sir, come take a look at this," one of the sentries called out."What is it, Reklon?" Asked the King. "Oh, dear, this is much worse than I thought.""What is it," Galuk asked. "Heavy warriors?""Worse than that," Makor said grimly. "Zyglak."---Horizon Castle, 6.30 Solar Time"No," protested Galuk. "I'm coming with you.""Have you any weapons?""No.""Then you're not coming.""Can I at least get a launcher for my kanoka?""Sure," said the ignorant General Zaar. "It's not like you're going to be allowed anywhere near the front lines." Zaar was heading to the Armory to 'suit up,' per se. When they both got there, he gave Galuk a kanoka launcher and a few daggers, just to be safe. "My gift," Zaar said."I can't take this.""Sure you can. Now get to the battlefield and GET INTO BATTLE!!!""Okay," Galuk says while running.Once he's on the 'drawbridge,' he sees total chaos on the battlefield. King Xaran casting magic spells, Zyglak infecting warriors, artillery shells exploding at every turn, et cetera. He makes is way to the King, and hears him shouting "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" After this, a barrier appeared and incinerated all Zyglak that even touched a mere portion of it. "So glad to see you. my friend. I was afraid that you couldn't make it. ZAAR!""Right here, sir!""Get your troops lined up.""Your Highness, that could take all day."":Well, just be glad that it's morning!""Galuk, I want you to turn invisible and kill as many Zyglak as you can. I fear they're after you. Go now!"Galuk did as he was told. He put the kanoka into the launcher and loaded it up. After a few seconds, it fired, and Galuk was nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, General Zaar noticed many Zyglak randomly falling. To Be Continued... INFORMATION I do not own or have any claim to ownership of the Code Lyoko XANA eye. 9. Review Topic Parts revived from old Forums. Side note: I may seem to be on hiatus at times, and I will post the next chapter whenever I feel it is ready. Just to let everyone know. Sneak Peek: "It is the year 665 in the Aethion Expanded Multiverse. Several meteorites have fallen to Alarist. No one knows what —or who—these things are. The Hand of Faith clan on Barrawahi has noticed strange paranormal activity with the other clans. They seem to be… fighting against themselves? Clysmax seems to be reacting to a presence that is a negative form of the Coldstone, which caused its Cataclysmic Shattering. Is Clysmax’s time going in reverse? Is it going to be one planet? Promathus’ Glomosulfur seems to be corroding faster, due to more demand on weapons, which is taking a toll on this industrial planet. There is more purple ash on this planet. The slaves on Tannuk seem to be standing up against their tyrant king, King Taa. Atohune’s Olmak Totem Poles seem to be taking humanoid shapes. Are these – the legendary Olmak Warriors? Izumal seems to be having more problems with the Nanites. Something seems to be overriding them. Without the Nanites, Izumal is powerless! Could all of this be a special and governmental conspiracy started by Zuruk and the mysterious planet only known as Enigma? You will just have to wait for yourself. Many mysteries await you in… The Chronology of Enigma Time is running out!" Hope you like it! Please note: Zuruk and other characters were not made by me. Zuruk only appears in one scene in the entire book. Taa is a fundamental character. I also did not create the Aethion Expanded Multiverse. I suggest that you read The Aethion Project by Srtyker055, and Hostage Diversion and The Shiva Protocol, both by Elephant in the Room. These are great epics, and you should read them* Chapter One: The Melding As the Olmak Totem's effect was taking place, Iranu noticed that he was near a lime green, hourglass-shaped, orb-sized object that had a purple aura. He was on a world with completely new technology. He realized that this must be Izumal, because he knew that anything he can't imagine must be on Izumal. He grabbed the "Green Orb" and walked alongside Vraxan to where he could see what he thought was Izumal. He remembers what happened that day... In the morning, he had a dream, where he was running from something. It must have been from Enlightened, because they seem to make machines. He woke up in the Alarist Planetary Authority Agency building, meaning that if a machine was in the building, they would have deactivated it. After the machine exploded, he ran back through the portal to Alarist, when he woke up to his mission alarm. Iranu checks the time. It is 6.30 Solar Time in the morning. "Finally! I've been waiting for a mission for ages!" Iranu made his way to the Conference room, where he was usually debriefed. "Iranu!" Snapped his boss on his communications link on his helmet. "You're needed in the Garage. You and Vraxan are being debriefed there." Vraxan. That would mean that this mission could get violent. Vraxan was known for his spasmodic violence attacks. They could be very painful. Iranu knew that from experience. "I'm on my way." "NOW!" His boss screamed. "Alright, alright! I'll go!" Iranu snapped. Being a Toa--a warrior, a hero--of Shadow, he crept along to the Garage's double doors, rematerialized in front of them, and opened them. The garage was more of a combination shipyard and docking bay, but when the Agency started, it was small, with very few vehicles, and was frequently expanded upon. In front of him were two beings he never thought would ever have a direct conversation together: Vraxan, his comrade, and his boss, Zhan. "...What do you mean we're waiting for one more party?" Says Vraxan. "I mean... Oh, look! He's here!" "Iranu?" Retorted Vraxan. "Xanthorp, is everything ready?" Iranu calls to no one in particular. "Yes, Iranu. Coordinates are loaded into your helicopter," Xanthorp, the missions manager and ship pilot, replies. "Iranu, being Head Field Agent, you'd normally get seniority, but today, since Vraxan, the Second-highest Ranking Field Agent, is with you, (which would more trouble than it would be worth, anyway)," Zhan mutters, "I'm going to have to give Schapell authorization for this one. He will also give authorization for the use of any and all weaponry and machinery." "Wait, Schapell meaning Agent # 0000004?" "Yes, Iranu. He was one of the 5 founders of the APAA. He has been given the authority and authorization to authorize any authorized weapons. Your mission is to go to the Power Grid and see who shorted it out. Nearly three quarters of the city is in mass chaos. The Vranthanium V7 helicopter is used to transport it to the power grid, and no exceptions!" "Yes, Sir!" The two Toa saluted him, and raced for the helicopter. "Wait! Weapons!" Xanthorp called. After Iranu and Vraxan were suited up and loaded up on weapons and Weapongloves, gloves that can turn into any weapon at the user's will, they raced to the helicopter. "I'm driving," Iranu said. "Alright. I call shotgun!" Conceded Vraxan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Elsewhere on Alarist... "Regno, did you do what we asked?" Said a heavy Russian accent. "Yes, Revolution, but for the last time, call me Regi." Said the one called Regi. "I understand, but we need that Cold Welder. Promathus won't ship it via Cargo Star, so, I need you to hack into the Alarist Cargo Star,... Regi," the last word Revolution spoke was one of hatred and loathing. He hated calling people by their nicknames. "It's always 'I understand,' 'understandable,' and the like, and yet, no matter how many times I say it, you keep calling me Regno. I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times if you like. It's Regi. Regi, Regi, Regi." "Just hack into the cargo star." "Alright." Said Regi. "Oh, and one last thing: Don't get caught by that APAA of yours. And this time, don't screw it up." "Okay." Regno di Baraonda shut off the hologram projector and receiver application on his Gadget. He turned to his desk, and pressed the button for his secretary. "Delilah, please send up my laptop, other Gadget, and hacking supplies." "Right away, sir. Oh, and a 'Haleeshi' wants to see you." "Send her up along with my supplies. Thanks." A couple of minutes later... "... A blibbering cool dude, I tell you. Always running to Tanuuk for limpets. Hi, Regi." "Thank you, Delilah," said Regi, now turning to Haleeshi. "Haleeshi, I just got a call from Revolution." "About what?" "He wants a Cold Welder from Miscellaneous Enterprises, but they won’t deliver it. He wants me to hack into the Alarist Cargo Star and retrieve one, and he’s getting very impatient." "Sounds like retribution, and a job for you." "Yes, it is. What were you talking to Delilah about?" "My former, and (I hope so) late bodyguard, Max. He was the type of blibbering cool dude who couldn't walk, talk, and chew bubblegum at the same time." "You say 'late' and 'was' meaning...what?" "I'm pretty sure I killed him, but who knows? Miracles are everywhere, right?" "Right. 'The Lord works in mysterious ways.' Now, what did you want to talk to me about?" "The APAA is at the Power Grid, and might be headed here any minute now." Haleeshi replied. "Delilah, activate Evacuation Procedure 7375." He says into his mike. "Alright. Everything is being packed up with F-Space we stole from F-Labs (Researchers of F-Science.), cars ready, saving all network files to a flash drive, lights will be shut off when we exit, and building will catch fire." "Contact everyone in the building to evacuate immediately. I'll bring my stuff down in my never-ending briefcase. I'm copying the files on my Gadget to 2 flash drives." Regi says. Once everyone is evacuated from the building and are in the cars, the building ignites. "Wait, we have to go back into the inferno, or at least with a Kanohi Hau and a Toa of Fire." Says Regi. "No! But what did you leave in there this time?" Asks Haleeshi. "I think one of the flash drives." "It'll burn in the inferno, right?" Delilah asks. "It would if it weren’t fire resistant." "But you dropped it in ice so it would burn, right?" Haleeshi asked. "I think so, but I don’t remember..." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Iranu, status report." Demanded Zhan over the communications link. "We're coming in on the power grid now. Preparing to land." "Alright. When you're done, we have a 401 that may be linked to the power grid ordeal." "A burning building?" "Yes." "Hang on, I see a body. Launching fire bombs." Vraxan said. "Vraxan, no! It might not be a hostile. It could be an innocent person." "I'm still launching them." Vraxan said adamantly. "I haven't authorized fire bombs yet, Vraxan!" "Sir? Schapell, is that you?" "No, it's me, Zhan." "Sir, you always were a trickster," Iranu called. "Is that a threat?!" Zhan screamed. "No, It's a promise," Vraxan said. "Find out its alliance, and if it's a hostile, KILL IT. We'll send an emergency team to the building for the time being. If the person is an innocent, then interrogate him on everything he knows." "Yes, Sir!" Iranu and Vraxan said in unison, a very strange occurrence. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"No. You don’t understand. We need to go there now!" Regi commanded. "Or what?" Said Trace, the driver. Trace hated empty threats, and Regi almost always gave them. "Or I'll tell Revolution that you’re working for the APAA, and that you plan on either assassinating him or usurping his power!" "You wouldn't!" Trace said. "Try me." Regi retorted. "Just a question: What's so important that's in that flash drive?" Asked Haleeshi. "Every file on the network." Says Regi. "But it would burn, right?" Haleeshi asks. "No. That’s the problem. APAA could use it as evidence." "You didn't soak it in ice water?!" Haleeshi yells. "No, but I’ve been meaning to for a long time, but Revolution keeps calling me. A lot. I've had no time to do that." Regi continues. End Chapter One *For some reason, in the 2nd section, no matter how many times I edit it, it always ends up coming out as "cool dude," but in reality, it's supposed to be the I-D-I-O-T word.* Review Topic~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Review Topic “Stranded. That word brings horrible thoughts to me. Vraxan abandoned me to interrogate the “Traitor” in the APAA building. Something tells me, though, that this is only the beginning. I think that that toa, or whatever he is, Binns, is innocent. But we may never know… But meanwhile, I’m stuck with a retarded mission from Zhan. Reconnaissance duty. Please. That’s no mission fit for a Wotcher, or head field agent. Recon Duty on BZ-Koro can be boring. Very boring. Luckily, I have a partner. His codename is Nix; the reason being is that he’s a Zo-, or twilight, Troak. The Troak are bulky, and are less brain than brawn, I’ve seen. They’re about my height on average aswell. But Nix is no ordinary Troak. He’s smarter—way smarter than the average individual. His element is not natural—for his mother was a Kra-Troak (A shadow Troak) while his father was an Av-Troak (A light Troak). He was born with both elements to control, and can obscure an area with wavy lights; fill it with darkness; or a combination between the two. However, working with Nix can be a nightmare (Despite his mask being a Kanohi Eupho, the mask of good dreams). Due to his unnatural element combination, he is found having brief violent moments. Wait. Scratch that. More than brief violent moments. But, he is a good observer. Anyway, I still believe there is at least one traitor to the APAA here.” Schoom. The door to Iranu’s quarters opened. “Zephyrixius.” Iranu said with a curt nod. “Iranu! Long time no see!” Said Zephyrixius, poundingIranu’s fist, the Toa equivalent of a handshake. “So, how’s life?” “Same as usual. After the excursion at Northridge on Tyrant, they told me to take it a little easier after Dane was killed.” “Will there be a memorial service?” “Yes. Towards the end of the year. “Wow. That’s…that’s three months away.” “Exactly. They say Dane was so worthless that other onescome before him.” “He was a powerful ally, and a formidable enemy to bet. Whythough?” “Why what?” Zephyrixius asked. “Oh, well it seemsthat hew was helping enslaved matoran out and they killed him.” “That calls for retaliation. Killing an offworlder…” Iranu’svoice trailed off. “I know. I think so too.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------“Hahleeshi-What’s our ETA on the warehouse?” “Forty-five minutes.” “Good. My source says the APAA’s on to our last location.” “Wow. It takes them a week to get to the building?” “Your internal calendar is off. It’s been a day. But mysource knew. However, he is my most trusted ally.” “How do you know?” “He’s a stitch, not a snitch.” “What?” “He keeps secrets, not tells them.” “Oh.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------“My master, I have returned.” Good. The voice echoed around the chamber. Progress? “I believe they suspect.” Kill them. Kill them all. Leave NO WITNESSES. “Sire, shall I feed them to the Thursks? They are hungry.” Yes…Yes. Feed them to the Thursks of Atohune. "We've found something on the flash drive, Iranu." "What is it?" "Profiles on a Toa." "Element?" "Magnetism--Neh." "A Neh-Toa, hmm? Rare. Very rare indeed. What's his name?" "Re- Reg- Regno di Bar- Bara- Baraonda," Sacret said with some difficulty. "Regi," Iranu murmured. "What's that?" "Nothing. Get those profiles to my station." "Yes, sir!" "Oh, and Sacret?" "Yes?" "Never mind," Iranu waved him off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Clysmax falling. There's nothing I can do. I fear we all will be torn apart... "Nix?! Another vision?" "Yeah, Vraxan. I-I think Shatteredn will have something happen to it." "Like what?" "I don't know. But thanks for keeping me on task. I think Narcas is up to something." "What does the Ice King have to do with it?" Vraxan inquired. "Remember? Ice is believed to have created the Coldstone." "Oh, right." "Vraxan. Come in." "Yeah Iranu?" "We have intel on the drive. Report to Tech now." "I will," Said Vraxan, his metal wing shuddering. "Nix, I'm needed in Tech. Coming?" "Sure. Hang on a moment though." "Okay." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"They've - we have found you, Regi. Hide in our temple on BZ-Koro." "Okay. I'm on the southernmost point now. I'll get on over there." "No one can see you, or you'll jeopardize our mission." "Okay. Stop being my boss." "Well, I am. I formed the group." "Who knows?" "I think only me." "Think?" "Yes. You're gathering followers?" "Yes, and I'm assuming you are too?" "Yes. You're doing well - evading us and all." "Don't patronize me." "All right. I've got to go. We're searching for your energy signature. We haven't gotten to Central yet. The temple should block out your energy sig." "Okay. Bye." "Sir," Nacros, the Shadow-Walker said, "With all due respect, you're acting strange.""Why?" Ragos, the Red One asked."We would greatly like to know." Verdos, the Old Green said."It would give us great pleasure." Azros, the Young Blue stated. "Has anyone told you brothers that you're all so very annoying?!" "Yes." Ragos."Many times." Azros."Indeed." Nacros."Very much so." Verdos. "Agh! Make me a gate to the Temple of the Ancients." "Yes." All four said in unison, crossing hazy blades, fiery scythes, leafy spears, and liquid axes together. A blinding flash. A woman's scream. He was at the temple. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Clio de Barona screamed. She had just stepped ionto a room and saw a body hanging by a noose. She didn't know who it was, but it was frightening. She turned the body around and screamed louder. It was Rex, her youngest brother. "STOP SCREAMING!" Rex yelled. "I just went into a heliarium-induced coma." "And so you had to hang yourself to get it out." "Exactly. Now, if you would please get me out of suspension..." "Okay. Now--how do I do this?" "You'll need a nui-jaga scorpion, an Atohune triboldvum, and..." "Or I could just slice the rope," Clio said, repeating what she had just done. "That could work, too." "Knock-knock. May I come in?" "Leo! Have you seen our brother?" "Regi? No, I'm afraid. I haven't seen him since..." "Southraunt, I believe." Interrupted Clio. "Yes, it was Southraunt. He was the one that hacked a Deathwing." Leo, this time. "He is an excellent hacker." Rex. "And that's why he joined 'Revolution,' I guess." Clio. "Who is he--Revolution, I mean," asked Leo. "No idea." Rex and Clio answered at the same time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Where is he?!" "Patience, Narcas. He will come in due time." "In due time?! What's that supposed to mean, Raana?" "Simply stated, sir, the Sages have found him in Khiahu Ko." "Prince Zaha will come soon. The One says so." "Marhaana, stop. Your fortune-telling is getting old." "Sorry I'm late! Zinara had me sweeping the kitchens." "Again? What did you do this time? Or perhaps, what didn't you do this time?" "NOTHING!" "You were feeding the rats, weren't you?" Asked a new voice, female, by the tone. "Zaha, meet Melpomene. I have hired her to make sure you don't get into trouble. "Ha! A king in the making? As if!" Another new voice, a male. "Shup up, Auzin," commanded Zaha. "Just because I'm adopted doesn't mean you can insult me!" Yelled Auzin. "Stop it! Both of you! To your rooms!" Yelled Raana. "But-" "NOW!" "Yes, dad." "My lord, if I may," whispered Raana, "I don't think either of them are fit to rule." "Same here, Raana." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Sir, something's wrong with my computer!" "Oh, Prac! It's a worm! Everyone! Shut sown you computers! Xanthorp, I want you and your team down here now! Get this worm fixed!" End Chapter Three Review Topic
