  1. Edit:I improved my Warlord Makuta in many ways since I entered it. I decided it was necessary, and I wish I entered it this way last time. I gave him extra claws like wolverine.I gave him transparent purple shin armor, a more natural looking battle skirt with more transparent purple to even it out. I also lowered his wings, and gave him a huge battle axe to go with his mace when he wants a different weapon. I think my next changes will be getting black axles for the skirt, which is kinda similar to JTO Makuta, and I will see if I can use some transparent purple on the arms without leaving gaps in his arm armor.. I am changing the original pictures to links. Ever since I saw the first animation for Bionicle generation 2, I wanted a huge Makuta. Then when we saw Journey to One, we got it. But I thought it just looked a little off. So I started thinking of how I would make a giant Makuta for the To a to battle. I wanted him to look large and impressive. And I then realized we never had a character with a flail. I then realized I had the purple pieces that would work great. Then I decided he needed a shelf. So I took some Thornatus pieces and a buzzsaw to make a kite shield. I then decided that the ways most characters hold their weapons looked rigid and unnatural. So he holds the flail at an angle. I made his talons and claws the same for consistency. I picked the shoulder arnor because it just looked so cool on Onua. I made the stomach and back use torso armor to reduce the gappiness, but it still has some gap on the back. The legs have an unnecessary amount of detail, but I like how they turned out. I especially like this Mask of Ultimate power. I hope you guys like this guy. I made several call changes recently, and I think I finally made him complete. I would welcome opinions and onions. http://i.imgur.com/VnKwHGI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jLut1wY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/95kfofd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AGliVLs.jpg
  2. In the time before time, long before the fall of the Mask Makers and the coming of the Toa, the mythical island of Okoto was beset by a foe the island would rue for millennia. Fate – or destiny – would have it that the events of a distant past would shape an uncertain future. Like so many other great legends, this one begins on a beach. - Of Druids and Shadow Poaruu was spending his afternoon with the one task he found no enjoyment in – fishing. As a cook, it was a necessary part of his duty to the village, but one he despised nonetheless. “How could anyone find this to be relaxing?” – He thought. He’s hardly collected enough fish for the evening’s feast, which was to mark the Rite of Initiation for the new elder. Nothing as fancy as the Rite of Empowerment of a new Protector for the whole region, but a marked day still. Poaruu was snapped out of his worries about running out of time by a sight he hasn’t seen in months. A gargantuan body burst from the water, far out at sea. He recognized it instantly: Akida, primal aspect of Water. She often swam around the whole island, popping up off the shores of each region. However today, instead of a majestic flip, the body of the great whale slapped back into the water unnaturally. Then he heard it – cries of agony. Wading into the water as far as he dared, he noted something strange about the creature, but couldn’t pin it down. The waves were carrying her ashore. His mind raced. “We need the Druid!” – He thought and turned to run into the village. By the time he got back, the aspect was already washed up. Now, he could see what seemed so peculiar from afar, and up close, it was terrifying. Jagged weapons, the likes of which he has never seen, jutted from the body of the mighty beast. The rustle of leaves – there were no trees in the region of Stone – indicated help has arrived. For a moment, seemingly out of nowhere, a handful of plants sprouted nearby and a tall figure arose. He towered far above Poaruu, clad in brown robes. Strong legs carried the barked body licked with a touch of green here and there. But the most notable feature of the newcomer were his antlers, glorious and intimidating. “Druid Umarak, you are here!” – He called out. The druid rushed to Akida, and began stroking her face. “Quickly, remove those foul things!” – He commanded Poaruu, pointing at the foreign weapons. Akida was heaving, but other noises escaped her mouth as well. After Poaruu, with much difficulty, took out the pair of what now turned out to be spears, Umarak moved to the wounds and held out his hands. His palms began to glow green, and the wounds began to seal right before Poaruu’s eyes. Soon, Akida was breathing easier. “Who could have done this?” – The cook asked, but the druid hushed him. Seemingly Umarak was listening to Akida. “Of course, the Druid is the only one who understands the great Aspects”. Finally, Umarak turned to Poaruu with much concern in his eyes. “I must meet the protectors at once.” – He said. “What is wrong?” – The cook asked. Umarak’s response filled him with a new kind of fear – the fear of the uncertain. “Those who did this came from beyond the sea.” Soon, the Druid had gathered the protectors and brought them to Poaruu’s village. With the help of his magics, Umarak could bring the leaders of Okotoan society with him across great distances with great haste, and all were assembled by eve. “Are you sure of what the aspect said to you?” – Taito, surprisingly hot-headed for one hailing from the region of Ice, demanded of him at the onset of the council. “You are not one to question my words, nor that of the Aspect.” – His response was stern. “I have healed her wounds by then, pain could not have compelled her.” The protectors were uneasy, faced with an issue no literature nor legend has prepared them for. “How is this even possible? How could something come from beyond the sea?” – The protector of Fire pleaded. “Never have we sailed beyond eyesight of Okoto. It may be so that other islands exist as well.” – The protector of Water added. “Druid, what did Akida tell you of these attackers?” – Ihan, protector of the Jungle turned to Umarak. “Only things that could trouble us further. They sail upon ships of metal, rougher and harder than with what the Mask Makers work. They are as tall as I. Beyond this, she merely repeated a single word I do not recognize: Kulta.” – He said. “Kulta? A name perhaps?” – Ihan asked back. “If so, it will go down in history as a hated one. The meeting was interrupted by the sound of a guard’s horn, after which a winded villager burst into the hut. “Protectors! Druid! Ships are approaching, hundreds! They are not of any region we know!” – He spat between gasps. Poaruu was so preoccupied with the events earlier that day that he could barely focus on his cooking. Umarak’s words haunted him, and he couldn’t but shake the curiosity as to what went on behind the closed doors of the emergency council. “I should be in there. I saw her!” – He thought, annoyed. Commotion outside tore him from his thoughts. As he stepped outside, he was almost knocked over by a trio of guards rushing towards the shore. “It can’t be Skull Spiders, the annual culling was not a fortnight ago… and they’re running to the shore!” – He started after them. Nearing the beach, he opted to scale one of the village walls for a better vantage point, and the vista that played out before him was unlike anything he ever saw. Countless ships were moments away from making landfall, and all the guards were lined up on the beach. The Druid and the Protectors were among them. Soon, the first ship – large, sporting black sails and an oversized ram on its stem. Off the railings jumped a large, albeit spindly figure. Its hardened leathery skin was covered by rough armor, its face obscured by a mask most frightening, crowned with two horns jutting forward. He walked towards the assembled guards, followed by many similar beings – among them devilish creatures led on chains, not unlike the scorpions of Poaruu’s home region. Umarak started ahead to meet the leader of the invaders head on. “Who are you to encroach upon our peaceful lands, to hurt one of our revered aspects?” – He shouted. The being walked uncomfortably close to the Druid, staring him in the eye. “Kulta.” – He said, as if to mock Umarak. “And what is it you are here for?” – The druid did not flinch. “Conquest.” Next, everything happened too fast. Before Poaruu knew what happened, the horde of invaders charged the guards. Umarak grappled with Kulta before disappearing in a puff of leaves and spiriting away the gathered protectors as well. The attackers tore through the guards within moments, and smoke had already filled the night sky. He rushed to street level, around him screams and shouting. He tried running in the opposite direction, but the invaders were already spread out in the village. The stench of death had begun to spread, and turning a corner Poaruu was met with a sight so gruesome as to prompt him to turn around. Against his better judgement, instinct drove him to the shore where he found Akida not half a day ago. Only the imprint of the glorious being was left in the sand. He waded into the waves once more, not knowing what to do, when a head popped up above the surface nearby. It was smaller – about half the size of what it was before – but could not be mistaken: Akida was here. She emitted a series of chirping sounds and sped towards Poaruu. Passing him and turning back, she swam up right next to him and offered a flipper. He understood. Grabbing it, he glanced back at his village one last time, and she began to swim. --- “I, Umarak, Druid of Okoto, am about to do something I swore to forever avoid. Five years ago, the warlord Kulta and his horde of Titans invaded the region of Stone. Since then, they have managed to poison our revered Aspects, causing them to weaken to a state my powers cannot heal. Alone, they are no longer powerful. In my possession is an ancient Mask of Power that I had hoped to keep locked away for eternity, but it seems that in our darkest hour, sin is our only salvation.”– The Final Testament of the Druid Poaruu was keeping watch on the battlements of the City of the Mask Makers. The city was the last bastion of Okotoan resistance save for a few small pockets scattered in the remote regions of the island. He had managed to survive five years of bloodshed. It was five years ago that he cooked his last true meal, and ever since, he was forced to fight. All of the protectors have perished with no clear line of succession. The only battles which do not end in defeat are those where the Druid is present, however the Titans attack on many fronts. Umarak has organised the few survivors into a half-decent army, but they are far outmatched and outnumbered by the trained murderers they face. Even after all this time, they learned very little of them – they know now that their world, a globe, is home to several islands. Kulta and his horde have been traveling from island to island, fighting the locals each time. His people have fashioned armor from the bones of their victims as a fear tactic, even using the corpses of Skull Spiders as masks. Umarak had recently returned to the City, warning the defenders that Kulta was preparing for a final assault to complete his “glorious victory”. “There has been enough killing.” – He said. “I will permit this no longer.” The defenders were on edge ever since, not understanding. “If he could put an end to this, why hasn’t he before?” – Many asked. Ever since, he had cradled an odd object, obscured by cloth. Poaruu sensed a slight shake. It began to grow stronger and rhythmic. “They’re here.” – He thought with dread. From between the ridges of the mountains high flowed, like a sick river, the horde. Their marching shook the earth, chanting smuggled fear into hearts thought to be steeled. They were near the walls when Umarak opened the Gate of the Anvil and strode out alone. “If you come to offer surrender, you waste your breath, Druid.” – Kulta spat the last word mockingly. “We come only for death.” – He finished. “If it is death that you invoke, death is what you shall receive!” – Umarak shouted. He removed the cloth and held high in the air a Mask of Power, much unlike the Mask of Healing he wore now. It was uniform black, seemingly swallowing all light, and yet jagged with sinister features. “The Mask of Death. The forbidden mask.” – He thought. “I wish I needn’t bear this burden.” – He removed his own and replaced it with the black mask. He immediately felt weak and nauseated, his muscles gave way and he collapsed. Kulta began to laugh a terrifying laugh, and his soldiers joined in. But soon the cackle had gone on too long, and the other Titans fell silent in confusion. Kulta continued his hysterical cacophony, then staggered. His laugh faltered, and almost immediately was replaced by a shrill scream. Before the eyes of Poaruu and the other defenders, their most hated enemy fell to his knees as his flesh burned away seemingly on its own. Soon, the confused Titans followed suit, their screams tearing up the sky itself as they were seared away where they stood. Nought but their bones remained moments later, collapsed in distorted positions. Umarak didn’t rise for many minutes. His body was smoking slightly, and his armor hissed as rain began to fall upon it. He rose to a seated position and remained like that even longer. When he opened his eyes, he was startled even though he knew the price of using the mask. Red spike sprouted from his arms, the his bark-like skin charred to black, green flesh turned sickly. He looked down into the puddle that had accumulated before him – the mask had cracked from the strain of being used on so many opponents. Dark power leaked from its surface, clouding the vision of the Druid – former Druid. “Even if the vows are broken and the mask used, it may only happen once. After death is unleashed, there remains only… shadow.” – He recited the teachings. Soon, the behavioral changes will manifest, then he will be drawn to the dark corners of the world. The gates of the city were opened, and the defenders slowly walked out. Among them was the elder they had all sworn to protect – the old Mask Maker. Umarak approached the procession in spite of the now fearful looks he received. “What have you done, Druid?” – The Mask Maker’s voice was also tainted by fear. “I know the weight of my actions and accept them. I will retreat into exile. The people of Okoto must persevere without a Druid.” – He said. “I am old, Umarak – what will we do come another crisis? The line of the Protectors has been broken, I am near the dusk of my life and even you leave us now?” – He pleaded. “Any who were strong enough to survive this war are worthy of the title of protector. As for your successor… look to the region of Ice. I discovered the heir of the Anvil long ago, he is safe. Ekimu is his name, you must search for him and bring him to the city.” – Umarak replied. “What of the aspects?” – The elder persisted. “They are diminished and in hiding until… until the coming of the six.” – The Druid hushed his voice. The Mask Maker had no more questions, so Umarak looked at the gathered Okotoans one last time, then left. Poaruu was among those who saw him disappear into the woods. “Where is he going?” – He asked aloud. “Into shadow…” – The Mask Maker replied solemnly. --- Strong claws gripped the trunk of the tree surely. An armored arm kept the body upright, half-hanging while the other shielded eyes from the hated glare of the sun. He dropped to the ground, and headed to the river. Passing by a tree with marks left by smaller claws, he walked down to the stream. The sand had been disturbed recently. Something drank here. “Ah, yes…” A nibbled fruit lay nearby. He strode over, picked it up and lifted it to his face. The hunter had caught a scent.
  3. I was given a set at Brickfair NE as a gift, seeing as I already had the set in question I decided to make it into my own creation. I have named her Mildara: Front: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/Photos/img_6249.jpg Back: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/Photos/img_6254.jpg Upward Pose: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/Photos/img_6257.jpg Final Pose (same as top picture, only larger): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/Photos/img_6261.jpg (Apologies for the tad blurriness of the photos. I tend to shake a lot when taking photos at somewhat odd angles.)
  4. So, amid a ton of extremely impressive builds by MOCists on this site, this is my entry for the Makuta building contest on ReBrick. Backstory: In an alternate universe, upon realizing that Ekimu was the superior mask maker, Makuta, instead of creating the Mask of Ultimate Power, turned his efforts elsewhere. He left the City of the Mask Makers and travelled to the Region of Earth. However, instead of delving into its many tunnels, he remained on the unpopulated surface, and sought out the highest peak. To test his own resolve, he endeavored to hollow out the mountain with his bare hands. Such gruelling physical work greatly strengthened his skeletal structure and increased his muscle mass, leaving him significantly larger and taller than his former, feeble form. After setting up a forge in his new lair, he first created a large, sacred hammer with two silver faces. He then vowed to craft weapons instead of masks, and to forge without rest until one of the faces of his new hammer dulls so that it does not shine. He first created a large suit of armor, and weaved crystal with steel. He then forged weapons day and night, blades and hammers of the finest quality. While Ekimu was a master of decor and pomp, Makuta was practical. Instead of using gems and gold, he wrought iron and steel. Ekimu might make the most beautiful golden masks and glass shields, but his creations would shatter if met but Makuta's blades. Makuta replaced his Mask of Control with the last mask he ever created - the mask of Shadows. It was his last ditch effort to best his brother, by weaving the power of the shadows themselves into a mask, instead of relying on an element. While his previous masks were simply less popular, this creation caused true controversy. The people of Okoto petitioned him to destroy the mask. This was what tipped him to abandon the craft of Mask Making. Though he now bears the Mask of Shadows, he kept his old Mask of Control as a reminder. Whenever he desired rest, whenever he tired, he would look at it and forge on. Over the years, a few villagers, outcasts from their villages, happened upon his iron fortress. As kindred souls, they pledged themselves to the Weapon Maker. Makuta forged ever more, producing enough weapons to arm all the souls on Okoto twice over and still have many to spare. Each was unique, and entirely deadly. Eventually, the last sliver of silver was chipped off his hammer. This is when he knew that the time has come. Turning his hammer over to its untouched side, he declared that while the other face forged and crafted metal, this one shall taste bone and blood. With his group of well armed followers, Makuta strode forth from his iron fortress, and craved a warpath to the City of the Mask Makers. Those who stood in his way brandished the golden swords and elaborate gemstone armor made by Ekimu. Though their equipment looked impeccable, the tempered iron and steel weapons of Makuta tore through them with ease. Finally, at the gate of the city, Makuta challenged Ekimu to single combat. The Mask Maker emerged in his larger, light-infused form, however even that was not enough to stand against the sheer force of Makuta.Though his conquest was bloody, the reign of Emperor Makuta was not one of tyranny. He was a strong leader who punished those who deserved it with severity and cruelty, however his iron fist struck down all threats to his people. While during the time of Ekimu, the Okotoans valued the luxury and decor of decadence, under Makuta, progress and strength were considered greater virtues. It was not long before the armies of Okoto, armed with iron and steel, would set forth to conquer other lands beyond the sea... I tried to take an unconventional approach to building my Makuta. The vast majority of entries were black/gold/purple/red CCBS titans that were basically variations of the JtO Makuta build. Sure, there are a few more originals ones out there than mine, but I opted for an atypical color scheme for Makuta, as well as a different backstory. While the weapon-racks and anvil probably won't be taken into account by the judges, it felt good to add some decor that emphasised Makuta's transfer to the craft of weapon making. Including the fingers, the set has 21 points of articulation, plus two unused ones holding the blades on his back. The set uses no illegal connections, no cut or modified pieces or anything else out of order. Full album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskCr6PdB Any suggestions on how to improve him would be greatly appreciated!
  5. [Flickr Album] Throughout his incarnations, Makuta has always been a failed ruler, secretly coveting the admiration he was never qualified to receive. Here, he has succeeded; King Makuta, fierce defender of the people of Okoto, even at the small expense of their liberty. Freedom is a dangerous thing. Kneel to the crown. Been working on this guy for about a month for the Rebrick contest (technically I had a head start, but I'm going on vacation, so sue me =P). Haven't MoC'd with physical bricks since... 2010, I want to say, so a solid six years. Before CCBS. Pretty pleased with how it turned out, all things considered; there's stuff I could blather on about, but my favorite part is the crown, which was the original design impetus and took a while to get right, but just clicked in the end. Criticism, questions, critiques, etc. always welcome. Yes my photography is atrocious.
  6. TOA TALLETH (BBC CONTEST #73 ENTRY) Details Toa Talleth is a Member of Toa Imrukii's Team. Talleth is a Toa of Plant Life, one of very few. And a greatly stalwart warrior at that. He is connected almost directly to his Element, giving him a great control over Plantlife. though he often doesn't use it unless to get to far to reach places or in intense combat situations. Talleth sports a long semi-modified staff from a Rahkshi of Heat vision long ago defeated, and later repurposed into a fighting lance or spear. His secondary weapon is a leaf-shaped combat sword, double bladed, one blade being the main body of the tool and the secondary blade being smaller and used as the pommel of the sword. His main tool however is a large body shield, akin to that of the shield of a Roman Legion. The Shield has the ability to implant itself into the ground like that of a tree and grow interlocking tendrils around the proximity of it's user to better fortify them. The shield also sports a saw blade to dig itself firmly in the ground and can be used as a weapon on it's own if need be. Toa Talleth's Armor is bulked up around his lower torso and upper thighs to better allow him to keep his midsection protected and to help shape his form to a smoother appearance in said section. His shins also have some bulked up armor to better protect from attack. His upper arms are protected less so and are made to look more stylized compared to his lower half, appearing as larger green leaves like that of jungle trees. The backs of his lower arms are decorated in large leaf like grows that if cut off will regenerate in a few days. His chest is semi-bioluminescent, to produce some light and also to go in line with his appearance, of course however his chest piece does serve it's purpose and is not just meant for decoration, it juts out a bit to better bulk up his upper body whilst also working like semi-organic armor. His Mask is a Noble Kanohi Hau. (shaped like a normal Hau here, but just use your imagination, alright?) His Origins and Lore Talleth originates from Metru Nui, but long ago became damaged. Sent to the island of Karzahni to be repaired but eventually managed to escape that living torment and made it to the northern region of the Southern Continent where he would later come to be brought back together with his friends from Metru Nui after Makuta Teridax took over the city and forced them to escape to the Southern Continent. Later on in his life he became a Member of a Resistance Movement against Teridax when he took over the Matoran Universe. Talleth along with the remainder of the members of his party managed to trick Teridax into throwing them into orbit with him and his allies, which later would come to be captured by the gravity of and eventually fall onto the Jungle Moon of Bota Magna. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image3.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image4.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image5.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image6.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AidanBionicle1/MOCs/image7.jpg (Minor text edit in Origins and Lore)
  7. ~The Groundskeeper~ “Though their appearance is often frightening, gourd-sprites are benign plant creatures, generally held in service by prestigious families as caretakers. They are tasked with tending to the local shrubs, caring for family pets, and keeping malevolent forest spirits at bay. A well-kept gourd-sprite is loyal, practical, and can stay in a family’s service for upwards of 200 years.”
  8. Kystux, inspired by the Latin word caestus, meaning gauntlet. Honestly, I haven't given much thought to this guy's back-story, other than that one arm is red (the gauntlet) because of reasons: Also, he's got a load of spikes on his back: And the gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=549689
  9. I decided to submit another entry, something unlike all the hulking brutes: A svelte scientist. He's responsible for the creation of the Skull Spiders and any other "rahi" found on Okoto. Basically, he takes the role that the Makuta of the Matoran Universe had. I was going for the appearance of wearing gloves and boots, hence the all-black lower limbs: And here's the Gallery (When it's public): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=549816
  10. Hello, one and all! I have just finished my entry into the Ninjago Monster Contest, so here it is! After a long day of fighting the forces of evil, even the heroic ninja need a vacation, so what better place to unwind and have some fun than the tropical paradise of LEGO Island? This piece features ninja Jay Walker pulling off some moves on a stunt ramp in a friendly competition with Pepper Roni. I've had the idea of featuring Ninjago characters relaxing on LEGO Island for some time, but I have now realized that vision with this piece! If you have any thoughts, comments are always welcome.
  11. ^Link^ Notice the colors and elements of each of the four main ninjas in the Ninjago story line are each represented in the cover art and the chorus of the song. Here are the lyrics: By day we hide, By night we come alive. In stealth we fight, To keep the dark from the light. We work in the shadows, We’re not average day heroes, We seek and we find, When something’s on the line. Fire lights up the sky, And thunder roars, Lightning electrifies us. Clouds pour sheets of ice, Onto the earth, The trees are blanketed with snow. Cause’ we’re elemental. Comments and criticism are appreciated! -Rez
  12. The Darkness Within Sensei Wu led Lloyd through the dark, thick forest of a very remote part of Ninjago. He hadn't been in this forest for a very long time, nor had he spoken of its existence to anyone. He had also stayed quiet about he and Lloyd's destination in it. The fewer people who knew about where they were going, the better. Behind him, Lloyd was wondering many things. He wondered why Sensei Wu insisted on the young Ninja only bringing a sword and couple other supplies on their trek. He also questioned why the other Ninja were not invited to come with them. If there was a threat in this forest, why were they the only two going to face it? "Their paths are their own." Wu had told him when Lloyd asked. "This path leads to a test. One only for you, Green Ninja." Lloyd nodded at the reply, but deep down he didn't understand it. He was the Green Ninja, destined to save Ninjago from his Father, the evil Garmadon. He had expected intense training, grand adventures, and the coming day where he would face his father in the battle of all battles. If anything, he had expected to his journey to be a grand one. But he didn't expect it lead him through this dark, vine covered forest. "So what kind of test is this?" Lloyd ask Wu. "One that you need to take." The Sensei replied. Lloyd couldn't help but hear the hint of hesitation in Wu's voice. It was as if something in this forest was making him nervous, which was something Lloyd wouldn't expect from the wise one. Wu bushed away a cluster of vines to clear the pathway. He wasn't sure if Lloyd was ready for the challenge that the Sensei was leading him to, but he had to make sure Lloyd was armed with the knowledge he needed not only for the day that he faced Garmadon, but also for his life afterwards if he succeeded in that final battle. He had to make sure Lloyd understood what true power could do to someone unprepared for it "I just hope it doesn't lead him to his death." Wu thought. The Sensei and Lloyd kept going for another two hours before coming to a stop. The path ahead was blanketed in a thick fog. A strong wind that blew through the trees and into the fog, but it didn't even move the fog a little. Lloyd may not have been the most experienced Ninja ever to exist (at least, not yet anyway), but even he could tell that this fog was covering a location that was unnatural to this region, and possibly nature itself. Wu turned to the young Ninja and pointed into the fog. "This is the path that you will continue down to meet your test. It will lead you to a field littered with trees and boulders. I will remain here." "What?" Lloyd exclaimed. "I have to go in there alone! Why won't you come with me?" "Because this something you have to do alone." Wu replied. "I will enter only when it is the right time for me to do so." Lloyd gave the Sensei a puzzled look. Wu turned from the Green Ninja and shook his head. "This is a place of evil, a place that I wish it didn't have a reason to exist." He went on. "But sadly it does, which is why you must go in there." "What kind of test do I have to pass in there?" Lloyd asked in confusion. "It's not about passing it, Lloyd." Wu said worriedly. "It's about understanding it." ******* Lloyd cautiously entered the new environment. As Wu had told him minutes ago, the fog was covering a field littered with trees and boulders. What Wu hadn't told him was that the ground had changed from muddy to very dry ground, which was fine with Lloyd. He could only see a couple feet in front of him. He thought about using his Spinjizu to try to remove some of the fog, but then realized that could reveal his location to any enemies that could on the field with him. Because there had to be an enemy of some sort in here, right? That had to be Sensei Wu's test. Lloyd was supposed to overcome some threat in this fog covered field, so that he could better hone his powers. "That has to be why I'm here." Lloyd thought confidently. "I must be here to defeat some foe to get a better understanding of my powers. That has to be what he meant." The Green Ninja's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of metal scrapping against one of the nearby boulders. Lloyd turned to the noise, but the only thing he saw was darkness. He then heard rustling in the nearby trees, as if a figure was swiftly moving through them. Lloyd turned again, but once again was too late to see what was moving around him. Lloyd pulled out the sword that Wu had given him and pointed out in front of him in a defensive position. He had no idea what was moving through the trees, but if it was a threat to him, the young Ninja would ready for it. "Garmadon." The name echoed through the trees, the voice saying it in a haunting tone. The mention of the name caught Lloyd a little off guard. Not only was 'Garmadon' his last name, it was also the name that his father went by. Could it be that Lord Garmadon, his father, was here now? "Garmadon." This time, the voice came from behind him. He turned around quickly, sword at the ready, and this time got a glimpse at his tormentor before he vanished into the fog. He looked to be human, roughly the same height as the Green Ninja. He also appeared to be wearing a black cape with a hood covering his face. "Show yourself!" Lloyd demanded. His voice bounced through the trees like a roar. "I did, for a time." Came the reply. Lloyd's eyes widened in surprise. Was it him, or did the voice of his foe sound a little too familiar? It wasn't the voice of his father or a Serpentine, or even of any of the other Ninja. But something told him that he knew this voice. So couldn't he place it with someone's? The sound of a cracking tree branch made Lloyd turn to his right, only to find his foe standing next to him. The cloaked being then lashed out with a sword of his own, only for the surprise attack to be blocked at the last second by Lloyd's own weapon. "Garmadon." The cloaked being repeated. "That is what I wanted to be called. That was the name that I wanted the other Ninja to fear!" He advanced his attack on Lloyd, swinging his sword at him with surprising strength. Lloyd blocked the blade with his own and attempted to grab the cloaked being with his free hand. He responded by pulling both blades up, slapping Lloyd in the face with the flat of his own sword. This caused the Green Ninja to stumble back a few feet. "But then you came to be!" The cloaked being said. "You suppressed me! Never again allowing me to walk in the shadows we loved!" "What are you talking about?" Lloyd asked as he backed away from his foe. "I haven't even seen you before!" "Of course you have seen me, Green Ninja." The being said darkly. "You know me better than anyone." He then pulled the hood off his head, revealing his face to the Green Ninja. He had a pale face, similar to that of his father's. He even had evil red eyes that shined through the thick fog. But that wasn't what made Lloyd gasped in surprise. No, it was that this person looked like a evil version of him! "How can this be?" Lloyd thought in horror. "How can this 'evil clone,' or whatever he is, be here before me?" Lloyd didn't have time to think of answers for his questions. His mysterious attacker rushed at him again, striking at him with this sword once more. Lloyd blocked the blows as best he could and struck back whenever he saw the opportunity to do so. Lloyd's attacker ducked to dodge a blow from Lloyd's blade. Seeing an opening, Lloyd then swung his fist, punching his apparent doppelganger in the face. He let out a gasp as he stumbled back. Lloyd kept up his attack by shooting lightning at his foe. But his opponent saw the attack coming. He raised his hands into the air, palms outward, and stopped the lightning in midair. He then raised his hands up, disintegrating the electricity before it could even touch him. "Who, or what, are you?" Lloyd demanded, aiming the tip of his sword at his foe. The evil one smiled back at him. "I am what you once wished to be, and what will become in the future!" The Attacker replied as he fired his own lightning attack from his sword. Lloyd countered it with own. Now the two of them were pushing against each other with their lightning. Lloyd could feel the pure power behind his foe's attack. He wouldn't be able to keep this up for long. He had to come up with another plan. Suddenly, he had an idea. He shut off his lightning attack, allowing the Evil Lloyd's lightning to come at him at its full power. Lloyd jumped to the side as the electricity flew past him and struck a boulder behind him, causing it to explode. Lloyd then took off into the fog, hoping that his enemy would have a harder time seeing him get away. The Green Ninja climbed the first tree he came across and got into position on a large branch. He planned to wait here, hidden in the fog and foliage, until his enemy walked under him. He would then sneak attack him from above and hopefully take out his opponent. Maybe then he could figure out who he was and why he looked similar to him. "Come and get me!" Lloyd shouted, allowing his words to echo through the field. The Green Ninja had no doubt that this would draw his attacker closer to him, so that he could take him out faster. "We already have each other, Lloyd." He spun around in shock and found his enemy right behind him, sword in hand. "You have just locked me inside." Lloyd lashed out with his weapon, but this time his opponent was ready. He blocked it with a strong uppercut, causing Lloyd to lose his grip on his weapon. The sword went flying off into the darkness. "Alright, lets see you block this! NINJA, GO!" Lloyd shouted as he activated his spinjizu powers and stormed towards his attacker. The being responded by hitting Lloyd with a powerful low kick, causing Lloyd to lose some of his focus on his spinjizu. The opponent took advantage of this to trip Lloyd with the flat of his blade, causing him to fall out of the tree. Lloyd hit the ground back first. Though the fall didn't break any bones, it had left him stunned. The attacker jumped out of the tree and landed next to him, a grin on his face that would haunt Lloyd for the rest of his life, especially with how shorten it was now appearing to be. "This...this is a trick." Lloyd stammered weakly. "You...are an...illusion of some sort." His opponent smiled. "You can't escape me, Lloyd. You once let us roam Ninjago freely. We freed the Serpentine, and embraced our father's name! Did you really think you could be rid of me so easily?" Lloyd rolled onto his side. "No, I am the Green Ninja now. I'm destined to save...Ninjago..." Evil Lloyd kicked him back onto his backside. "And after that, what will you be, hm? The most powerful spinjizu master, without a foe to face?" He knelt down next to Lloyd, a sphere of energy forming in his hands. "Power corrupts everyone, Lloyd. You fell to it once, and you will again." "I...will never...be evil again!" Lloyd declared angrily. His opponent simply smiled. "We'll just see." Everything that happened next happened in blur. His doppelganger raised his sword, with the intent finishing the fight for good. Lloyd crossed his arms in front of him, braising himself for the blow. Then a bright flash hit both fighters, blinding Lloyd for a second. A hand grabbed him, helped him to his feet, and started pulling him away. Even though he was still dazed and the fog blocked some of his vision, he could see who the hand belonged to. "Sensei Wu!" Lloyd said excitedly. He had never been so happy to see his uncle than at this moment. "Hurry!" The Sensei said quickly. "We must leave while we can!" Lloyd turned to see what happened to his enemy. He was laying next the tree, dazed. But as he saw his unconscious foe disappear into the fog, he couldn't help but notice that his body was vanishing itself, as if he had never existed at all. Wu and Lloyd didn't stop running until they were back at the entrance to the field. It was only Lloyd, still weakened from his battle, that slowed them down. When they cleared the field, both of the fell to the ground and caught their breaths. "Who was that?" Lloyd asked when he had regain his composure. "And what is this place." Wu got to his feet and looked sadly at his nephew. "This place doesn't have a name, but it is a place of necessary evil. It brings the darkness inside yourself to life, so that you can see what you will become if you ever succumb to it from within." Lloyd's eyes widened in shock. "So that was an evil version of me...that I will become one day?" "It is what you could become, if you do not stay in the light." Wu corrected. Lloyd starred at the ground, trying to grasp this new information. It did explain why he couldn't beat his foe, for he had already known all of the Green Ninja's moves. Seeing the confusion in Lloyd's face, Wu walked up to him and laid his hand on his shoulder. "Lloyd, you are good man now, but darkness once had a hold of you. It could be very soon that you will have a great power inside you, a power necessary to defeat Garmadon. But it could also corrupt you again, if you are not careful." "So...I may become like him." Lloyd asked hesitantly. Wu shook his head. "Not if you don't let your power tempt you into darkness. Not if you remember that your power doesn't make you better or stronger than anyone else." Both Sensei and child turned and looked at the fog covered field one last time. Lloyd wished in his heart that he would never have to come here again. "I brought you here so that you could see the worst in you, so that you appreciate the best in you." Wu went on. "It is a struggle that everyone, myself included, lives with. But if we remember what is really important, we will never be lost in the darkness within ourselves." With that said, Lloyd pulled himself to his feet. The two then began to make their way home, where Lloyd's true destiny awaited. ******* Notes for anyone curious: 1. I would like thank the people who came up with this contest (Ninja in Space). This is the first story I've written in years, and this contest is what gave the inspiration to come up with a story idea and write it out. So again, thanks. 2. In case anyone is wondering, the mysterious area Lloyd went into was based off the area filled with the Dark Side of the Force from the planet Dagobah from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Comments and criticism are appreciated! Edit: Fixing typo in one of my notes.

  16. Here is my entry to BBCC contest #65 for the birds. I decided to make my own bird based off of the shape of a robin. 17. A little something I whipped up for the Fortnightly Fanfic Contest. Intended as the story of the Order of Mata Nui member who traveled to the island of Mata Nui...and met an unfortunate fate. ---------- I emerge from my Toa canister into bright sunlight-brighter than even the twin suns of the realm from which I hail. Standing tall, I look out across the alien landscape before me: a long stretch of beach disappearing into a mass of jungle. It seems that the Order's worst fears are confirmed; the universe has been irrevocably changed. But it is not my place to question; it is my place to investigate and report. Cursing the unbearable heat, I shed my cape-a black, ragged old thing that serves little purpose at any rate. Throwing it inside the canister, I lock the vehicle and drag it to a nearby rock formation. Within minutes, I have it so concealed that only a genius-or a lunatic-could hope to stumble across it. Then, with my mace slung over my shoulder, I head inland. Thousands of years have passed since I joined the Order of Mata Nui-thousands of years in which things have transpired that do not sit well with me. While I understand the need to conceal ourselves from our enemies, hiding from those who should be our allies seems foolish at best. And I have heard whispers...tales of monstrous deeds committed by some of my own comrades. As best I can, I turn my attention towards my mission: learning what has become of the Metru Nui Matoran in the six months since their absence from their homeland. An operative in Metru Nui had been lost, and was presumed dead, meaning that there was no one to watch over that vital city. Not wanting to walk into a trap, I had opted to travel up through the sky, rather than through the tunnels beneath this strange new island. I can hear music faintly in the distance-drums and flutes, from the sound of things. I realize that I must be drawing near the Matoran, and set off in their direction. But before I can get far, I realize something unsettling-the jungle, up to now noisy with the sounds of birds and other Rahi, has grown ominously silent. And the shadows around me seem to deepen...as though some darkness was adding to their own. It can only be Makuta. Readying my weapon, I brace for his attack. Facing a member of the Brotherhood is foolhardy, but if he has sensed my arrival I have little choice. Part of me, I must admit, likes the idea of being able to face the ruler of those accursed shadows, and perhaps even to cut him down. As if in mockery of my desire, a massive form emerges from the trees ahead of me. To the untrained eye, it might have passed for a massive ash bear, its red eyes ablaze with madness. But I know the stench of shadow...and I have heard of this beast. The Makuta Nui has come for me-and from what the legends say, there is no chance that I can survive its onslaught. For just a moment, I am sad-I will not be able to complete my assignment. But then, as I consider my true mission, I grip my mace more tightly, and with a roar throw myself at the master of shadows. My mace thuds off his armor, leaving not so much as a mark. In answer his claw sweeps back at my head, nearly ending the fight in a single blow. But I have fought a thousand battles against larger and swifter foes; he will not down me that easily. Dodging, I respond with my own attack: a blast of pure force that launches him through the nearby trees. Quickly recovering, my foe unleashes a roar, which turns out to be a power scream: I am knocked to the ground, barely keeping a hold on my mace. As the creature looms over me, I realize even more clearly that I cannot win. But determined to make the Makuta Nui earn its meal, I rush at it, readying my mace for another blow. Certainly, I shall die...but what better way to go? One thousand and a half years later, the insane Piraka Vezon found himself at the southern tip of the island called Mata Nui. He had no idea that an Order of Mata Nui member had landed here so long ago, nor that the noble warrior’s remains lay buried deep beneath the mud of the Le-Wahi swamp. But as he pulled the last of the rocks away from the concealed canister, he almost felt like thanking its previous owner. Almost…but not quite. Indeed, he had forgotten the matter by the time he was sealed in the canister, clad in his well-preserved new cape.
  18. Clang. Clang. Clang.Crunch.Clang.Again and again, day after day, the Toa had worked exhaustive, menial labor.Chunk.Ker-thunk.She had enlisted herself three weeks prior into a large workforce of Matoran, assisting in the building of a walled village on a particularly Rahi-infested portion of the Southern Continent. It was monotonous, mind-numbing, utterly dull work. That was precisely what she wanted. But her life was so tedious, so blatantly unfulfilled. The remnants of her past, those horrific, ghastly memories, stalked her in the day and tormented her by night.Clang. Bash.Snap.Ker-thump.She briefly let the sounds of the construction wash over her, filling her mind with blankness for the briefest of instants - until reality and her memories elbowed back into her psyche, jockeying for her attention once more. She could not live with herself if she continued to truly be a Toa. To live as one, in her mind, would be to defile her brothers and sisters – all those that were, are, and were yet to be, the ones that deserved to be known as heroes and heroines. She lived by her own rules now, revoking by her own accord her status as a Toa, solemnly vowing never to use her elemental or mask powers again. Her abilities had failed her. Every moment of her life was spent thinking about what had happened, or wishing ever so hard that something would whisk her back into her past so she could have a chance to correct her brutal mistakes. She had to exhaust herself, as she had been doing for a while. Pushing herself to exhaustion was the only way she could rest, the only way to make herself feel in any way useful to the universe, the only way she could now live.“Puone?”A Matoran’s voice interrupted her endless void of thought, jerking her mind back to the real world. She glanced down. A Le-Matoran was staring back up at her, holding a hefty stone block. He released it, letting gravity take hold and slam it into the turf. Particulates of dust congealed around the edges and curled up into the air.“Hello, Arkapi. Need some help with that stone?”Arkapi half smirked, half grimaced. “You know, if you used your mask – what’s that, a mask of telekinesis? – you could really help us out. It’d make the build go a whole lot faster.”“I can’t.” She paused, breathing, trying to compose herself. Her memories needed only the slightest stimulation to painfully and completely resurface. “I shouldn’t.” Her voice was breaking up.“What, are you phobic of masks or something? Maybe being a Toa isn’t the right line of work for you, eh?” the Le-Matoran joked.“It isn’t,” Puone replied sharply and quickly. Tears were welling up behind her mask.Throwing down her tools, she briskly walked away from her briefly adopted life and into the hills and forests beyond. There really wasn’t a place for her in the world. * * * She had traversed the hills, woods, and rocky outcroppings. She didn’t know how far she’d been going, but she knew was on the run from her past once again. But physical distance has no effect on emotions and memories, and only time would teach her that lesson. Until she learned it, or acknowledged that she knew it, she would have to rely on the numbing effects of exhaustion to drag her on through her miserable excuse for a life. Now, here she was, kios from any civilization in a mountainous section of the Southern Continent. A dank storm malignantly brewed, lightning generating in its gloomy bowels and finally crashing to the earth in the distance. The fringes of the same storm had reached the trees above, sprinkling them with water from the sky.Tired, alone, and now wet, she sank to the ground. * * * The gap in the trees ahead came forth into her field of vision, yielding a great and bustling village full of bright and happy Matoran. Her eyes darted around – it was like she remembered, but yet couldn’t quite.Shadows sneered out from the sides of the city from the woods beyond, engulfing the buildings and streets in fire and terror as Matoran screamed and perished. Her instinct as a Toa was to help, to Karzahni with her vow of powerlessness – but yet she could not move – not even blink – as she saw before her the terror of the indefinite unknown wreaking its terrible wares upon the innocent, her body feeling drenched …Puone started the next day in a pouring rain, jolting instantly awake in the first faint wisps of sunlight on the horizon. The main body of the storm had reached her, dumping its liquid contents upon everything below. Some water had pooled in the grooves of her mask, but she did not care to dry it out.Getting up, she felt the strain of walking and climbing upon her legs. But, still, she had to move on. She needed to get to some shelter, at least until the rain and wind abated. * * * One of the few things that Puone liked was taking naps. She liked them because they weren’t overtaken by consistent nightmares, unlike her nightly rest. She had located a small outcropping under which to lie against a rock, thinking about anything she could to occupy her mental faculties. She tried to study the beauty of a small gulf that was in front of her, just beyond a few trees that obscured a perfectly idyllic view, but she had tired of that an hour previously. Now there was something else to focus on – a patterned sound, unlike the random noises produced by simply being out in the wilderness. They were footsteps, and they were approaching. As the rain lessened and the odor of petrichor increased in the air, Puone eased herself up off of the ground and looked around to the left and right.Just a few paces away was Arkapi, walking staff in hand.Puone allowed herself to return to her resting spot. “You know, I did try to get away from you. Why did you follow me? What do you want?”The Le-Matoran eased himself down, sighing contently as he finally got off of his legs. “It’s not easy tracking a Toa down like that, especially after that storm,” he said. “I found you because I need to tell you something.” After a few seconds, he placed his hand on Puone’s armored thigh. “Thank you.”“Of all beings, I shouldn’t be thanked,” the Toa replied, brusquely slapping the Matoran’s hand away.“No, you should.”Puone just growled in reply. Arkapi simply sat there, completely unfazed.“A long while back – and this was many, many moons ago – I lived in a small village not unlike the one we’re building now. It was … attacked. Viciously. Unknown assailants ravaged it. A lot of my closest friends were killed, burned alive or … worse.” He paused briefly, gathering and then hiding his emotions. “No one knows who, or what, was really responsible. A few Toa tried in vain to stop it, only one having marginal success. But that one Toa could not stave off the forces of evil.”Puone filled her empty heart with rage. “I have been replaying that moment in my mind for every second of my life since it occurred. It has turned my existence into a living Karzahni. I do not need to hear about it again!” She got up and began to walk off.“You saved my life, Puone,” Arkapi said, gently, but firmly enough so Puone would stop and listen. “You saved my life, and to that I thank you and owe you an incalculable debt. No Toa could have possibly saved us all. You did well that day, and you would have been foolish to try and stay; you would have only gotten yourself killed. You saved as many of us as you could, as any Toa could, and you live to fight the forces of evil and discord again, on another day. For that, I’m proud to have known a great heroine.”Puone took a deep breath, willing herself to stay, her back still stock-still to the Matoran. She could not accept herself as a great heroine. She had relived the moment too much to ever think that.“One moment doesn’t have to define you, even if you think it does. You can’t change what’s gone. You can only move on and revere the past, and what it teaches us.”“How could you possibly know anything about what I’ve been through?!” Puone screamed, half-crying, spinning around to face the Le-Matoran. “You were there. I can’t imagine you being so insufferably ignorant.”“I lost many a friend that day, Puone. Matoran I had known all my life. I remember them, true, and I’m sad that they’re gone. Could I have saved them? Could I have done something, anything, to help them?” He looked to the ground and shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe I should have. I, too, carry a lot of weight from that fateful day. I’m not letting it go, but I’m not letting it completely define my life, my actions, the way I move on. I honor the past, but I’m not stuck in it.”The Toa turned around. “You didn’t mention this earlier. When we were building the Koro back there, you could have easily mentioned this. Why didn’t you?”Arkapi smiled softly. “I thought I’d give you time to get over it. I knew you had to have some grief, but I didn’t think that it would be this severe. I wanted to make it right for you, because I was one of only few in the Koro who understood who you were and knew your past.”“And you felt like you had that responsibility.”“Yes.”Puone sat back down next to the Matoran again, breathing heavily now, staring intently into the distance, like she wished to stare right past the horizon and into the mystery beyond. The dead silence, interrupted only by the chance sounds of nature, made the Matoran increasingly uncomfortable.“I’m sorry to have bothered you,” he said at long last, picking up his sack and walking stick once again.Minutes later, he was out of sight, traveling back down the winding path to the village. Puone still sat there, reflecting on Arkapi’s new point of view – and thinking for the first time the events of that day in a new light. She glanced down, spying the rocks and loose pebbles on the ground. She lifted herself up off of the ground, looking about at them.Raising her arms, she made them float.Lightning shot across her limbs, arcing from sections of her armor. Power, her own innate power, something pure and energetic that she hadn’t felt in much too long of a time, flowed through her, sparking against the air and the ground. As she stood there, elemental and mask powers ignited again and in full use, a stray thought occurred to her.Maybe, just maybe, she had what it took to be a true Toa after all.
  19. A Cold Light Dawns The ancient Turaga gazed out over the crystalline sub-metropolis know as Ko-Metru. The sun rose as it did every day, glittering across the sharp angles of cold obelisks, vibrant colors flowing from the carefully calculated prisms. A bright blue sky hung over the city. The home of the ice-dwellers was surpassed in beauty only by the pristine architecture of Ga-Metru.The Turaga frowned and turned away from the balcony. It was an awe-inspiring sight to be sure, but beneath the flawless exterior, the elder of ice knew that the city was being corrupted. How or why he couldn’t say, but something in the pit of his stomach churned whenever he looked at the skyline of the city of scholars.“Is something wrong, teacher?”The former Toa jolted slightly at the voice and his eyes focused on the figure standing in the doorway. Ah. It was one of his students, come with questions about his lecture that morning no doubt.“No, no.” He sighed with a slight rasp and stepped back into the room. “I’m just contemplating our future.”“Oh! Please don’t let me keep you–” The Matoran held out a thin hand-crafted tablet. “I have this message for you from the leader of Onu-Metru.” He bowed and backed out the door, bumping into a vahki patrolling the hall. The robotic guardian chirped and scanned the nervous matoran’s mask.“Processing criminal record,” it stated coldly. “Record has received one mark.”The elder knew he shouldn’t mistrust the police force of the city, but their empty stares gave him unsettling chills. He frowned and looked down at the tablet resting on his desk. It read as a simple invitation to meet on the Tower of Knowledge in two days’ time, but something told his that he wasn’t the only one with a premonition about the fate of Metru-Nui. -*-*- Two days passed slowly, with classes to teach in the morning and astronomers to philosophize with in the evening. Merchants exchanged their wares in the streets, scholars mused on the lastest of their teachers’ words and prophecies from the stars, and Vahki patrols changed stations like clockwork, faltering only when a less respectable citizen of the city of ice interfered. As the Turaga ascended the last stairwell to the pinnacle of the Tower of Knowledge he could already see that something was wrong. The elder archivist, known city-wide for his punctuality, was nowhere to be seen. A single vahki stood guard by the staircase as usual and regarded him with emotionless blue eyes.“Guard,” the elder rasped. “Where is the other turaga?”The vahki’s eyes flashed dimly as it replied. “There is no other turaga present.”“I can see that, vahki-bones,” the Turaga of ice replied, surprised at the venom in his own voice. He may have harbored a subliminal mistrust for the guardians, but he knew better than to voice a baseless opinion. “Was there another Turaga here?”“Affirmative.”The Leader of Ko-Metru took a step back. However baseless his opinions, the entire situation felt uncanny. “What happened to him?”“He is no longer present.”“Where did he go?” The ancient scholar edged toward the staircase. Somehow he already knew the answer.“He has been terminated.”The Turaga nearly stumbled down the staircase, incredulous at the enforcer’s reply. Although he had suspected it, he couldn’t accept that the guardians of Metru-Nui could do such a thing. “You’re lying!”The vahki didn’t reply as it dropped down to the bottom of the stairwell, cutting off the Turaga’s escape. The elder’s eyes widened as he backed away from the advancing robot. “You- You’re the ones responsible for this? The fall of Metru-Nui in my visions-” He stumbled against the railing. The glowing metropolis spread out far below him like a vast canyon, the white crystalline structures like rows of tombstones. “You’re to blame for the fall of the city!”“Negative,” the automaton chirped as it raised its staff to deliver a lethal blow.“Then who?”The vahki’s reply seemed to echo across the city, reverberating through every cold chill the Turaga had ever experienced, through every dark premonition and vision he dared to believe untrue.“Dume.” -*-*- The sun rises on the horizon as it does every day, glittering across smooth steel and spiraling through crystal prisms, heralding a new day for the scholars of the City of Ice. But today the sun brings an ominous chill to even the most carefree of citizens. Though they may not realize it, the light brings the birth of oppression, the beginning of the fall of Metru Nui. For today the city awakes without a leader. Today the city awakes without a Turaga who cares and visits with the young minds of the generation, as eager to teach them as they are to learn. Today the city awakes to a law and order brought about by pure, emotionless law.Today the city awakes to the cold light of dawn.
