What happens when you are builder was is sometimes known for building Bionicles, and often known for building boats? You get challenged to build a Bionicle boat, of course. Bionicle of the Caribbean by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Bionicle of the Caribbean by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr And of course, why make a boat and no one to sail it? Jack Sparrow by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr The more I look at Jack Sparrow, the less pleased I am with him. Certain aspects are fine, but others... Eh.... It's mostly the head. the Baze Malbus is actually a serviceable head, but hard to work around. Time to bail out! Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales came out last weekend, and that is when I saw the movie. It's definitely better than the fourth movie, On Stranger Tides. But it still falls short compared to the first three IMO. They are some good things in it though. One of the opening sequences involving Jack and Co. stealing a bank vault is really cool. It definitely something not seen in a Pirates movie before, and it's one of my favorite action scenes in the movie. The relationship between Henry and Carina, the two love interests, doesn't feel near as forced here as the one between the guy and the mermaid in the the fourth one. There're no Will and Elisabeth, but I did care for them a little bit by the end of the movie. And the visuals in this film are stunning. This movie really looks great most of the time. But this does have some issues. One of them is Jack Sparrow. He's a little too goofy here than he has been in the other movies. Yeah, that's part of his character. But in the other films it felt like he always had a plan underneath the silliness. Here, his character just feels off, like he's trying too hard to get a laugh from the audience. For most of DMTNT, I felt like Jack was just winging it, which isn't like him. Another issue is the villains. Captain Salazar was cool, and his backstory gave him a good reason for wanting Jack dead. But I don't think he was as interesting of a supernatural villain as Barbossa in Pirates 1 or Davy Jones in the second and third movies. Plus, the designs of some of his crew just looked odd. One guy was missing the upper half of his head, and another was just a floating pair of hands. A FLOATING PAIR OF HANDS! Yes, they were ghosts, and the way they were cursed sort of explains why they look as they do. But they still looked weird. There is also a wedding scene that just didn't need to be in this film. It tries to be funny, but is painful to watch. My biggest issue with the film, however, kind of goes into spoiler territory. It involves the end of the film. So I will put it in spoiler tags. I know I've ranted on this film a bit, and I don't mean to sound like I hated it. Because I didn't hate all of it. I was just mostly disappointed by it. I really liked the first three Pirate films, especially At World's End. I was hoping after the disaster that was On Stranger Tides, DMTNT would help put the series back on track and be as good as those movies. Though it does take steps in that direction, it also hammers home that maybe its time for the franchise to finally be put to rest. And if the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are going to keep being like this, then maybe it is time for it to end. Have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales? If so, what did you think of it? And what is your overall favorite Pirates movie?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Trailer 2
Toa Smoke Monster posted a blog entry in The Island
You know, I wasn't too excited for a fifth Pirates movie. I felt that there really didn't need to be any more of them after At Worlds End. Especially since the fourth one wasn't as good as the first three IMO. And while the first trailer for the fifth movie did get my attention, I still wasn't too excited for it. Then I saw this new trailer. Now, I'm really excited for this movie. The villain looks scary, Will Turner and the Flying Dutchman are back, and the scenes shown in it look gorgeous. Plus that Johnny Cash song works perfectly with this trailer. Overall, this trailer has made me really to see another adventure with Jack Sparrow. Hopefully it will be a good one. What do you guys thinks of this trailer? -
This is a little scene I built during the summer after I looked at some of the Lego Ideas Book. I couldn't resist expanding on one of the concepts shown - a shipwreck of an old galleon! Gallery (when public) If pirates tickle your fancy, be sure to check out the gallery for more pirate tomfoolery!

Thoughts on Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Teaser
Toa Smoke Monster posted a blog entry in The Island
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joO-EJDjO54 Well, I wasn't expecting to see this during the season 2 finale of Fear The Walking Dead. This is a cool teaser IMO. It doesn't give away too much, yet gets one excited for the movie, just as a teaser trailer should do. There really isn't much to say about it, other than it looks like Jack Sparrow will be dealing with another supernatural Pirate crew. They sort of look like Davy Jones's crew from the second and third movies, but with more of a ghostly presence about them. Maybe these guys are ghost pirates? Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing this latest movie. I really enjoyed the first three Pirates movies, though I wasn't too impressed with the fourth one. Hopefully this film will be good like the first three before it. -
Another old picture for a fanfic I started writing but never finished. Basically it took place after the reformation of Sphereus Magna when trade routes were established on the seas, and involved a ragtag crew of misfits and outcasts.

"Drink up, me hearties, yo ho!" And so, after a long wait, I am finally able to present to you: Lohkar! Ta-da! If you play the BZPRPG, you'll probably have heard of Lohkar, and your characters may have run into him at some point. Trouble seems to follow this infamous Lesterin wherever he goes! Lohkar took me quite a while to make, for various reasons. This was mostly because the majority of my pieces are up in the loft, and it doesn't look like they'll be coming down any time soon. I had to order various spares, both from eBay and Bricklink. I also created my first custom-painted Kanohi for Lohkar; see below. Lohkar is probably my favourite of my RPG characters, and definitely my favourite MOC to date. I've managed to MOC him exactly as I first imagined him. I feel I've managed to capture Lohkar's character in his build. I used the Glatorian ankle plates and Mata Feet on his forearms to give a similarity to the baggy clothing typically worn by pirates of our world. I'm also quite pleased with his sword; although some might say it's a tad too large, I think it has a good flow and shape to it. More pics: Front Side Back "Armed and dangerous" "Oh, that Lohkar, he's so dashing!" The Grapnel Gun - quite a gadget "'Ello, Beastie!" Lohkar does like his treasure... Dual wielding...oh yeaah. Lohkar's effects In disguise... Custom two-tone blue Arthron BONUS PICS: "Look what I got!" (Dedicated to The Fearless Leader) "It appears I did not fully understand your point o' view, other than it bein' four feet lower than mine." Profile for the main character of my movie. (See entries A Movie? Could be. and More on my Movie) Name: Rob Saunder Occupation: Pirate Age: Haven't figured that out yet. Played by: Me Bio: Proud pirate Rob Saunder is a scheming, intellegent man. He only has one proble. And that is a big problem: He's a captain with no a ship or crew. So he's putting his unique brand of insane genious to work. He's heard of another pirate is searching for a captain. The pirate has a ship, and Saunder plans on provoking him into battle, defeating him, and captaining his ship. I've got a clever twist on the last part of the bio. -BK-

I'm gonna attempt to make a movie. I don't want it to be a cheesy comedy, I want it to be serious. So I'm reading a screenwriter's workbook. I'm also gonna try to make it the length of an average movie, around two hours. I read that a page of typed script is equal to one minute of screenplay. So I have to type about 120 pages. The good thing is, I know what it's gonna be about. I know character profiles. Please keep in mind, this is only an attempt. I might shelve it. I might finish it. If I do, I will post it so anyone who wants to can watch it. Just so you know, it is inspired by Pirates 3, so it's a pirate movie. -BK-
