  1. Psionics Revisited (disclaimer: this is like 85% pure conjecture, but aiming to be canonically plausible, least.) I know Psionics has been the topic of much discussion and contention since it came out. It’s a huge, ill-defined power set, and many people think it shouldn’t be its own element. I don’t entirely disagree, but as G1 is passed and Psionics was never recalled, I’ve tried to come up with a few different indices on which elemental and non-elemental psionics could operate, and lay out possible examples or applications of that family of psionic ability. Sources of psionic powers: -Ce-Matoran, Ce-Toa, Ce-Turaga -Makuta -Kraata: Fear, Anger, Rahi/Insect control, etc. -Krana: telepathy, strategy -Rhotuka: Sidorak’s command spinner, possibly Varian’s sleep spinner, etc. -Kanohi: Suletu, Matatu, Komau, Olisi -Vahki staffs -Skakdi powers. Avak’s prison creation and Reidak’s adaptability could be construed examples of non-elemental dynamic powers. General limitation: I think it’s reasonable that elemental and non-elemental psionics cannot affect unconscious regulations in brain – ie, homeostasis, breathing, blinking. Also cannot alter already-encoded memory, nor motor skills (that would be way too much power, although everything is up for debate). Indices Static vs. Dynamic – the big criticism of Psionics as an element is that so many other beings in the MU have psionics powers. To deal with this, I think it makes sense that non-elemental Psionics powers (those granted by Kanohi or Vahki staffs or wielded by Rahkshi or some Rahi) are static. They have a concrete set of limitations and abilities. Kanohi include Suletu, Matatu, Komau, Olisi, Rahi Control, probably others. Rahkshi powers like fear, anger, insect control, etc. are also included. The mind-barrier that Ce-Matoran and Order of Mata Nui operatives have combat most static psionic powers, although it’s questionable whether a basic mind-barrier by a non-elemental psionics wielder could withstand a concentrated Suletu attack by an advanced user, or a high-level fear-Rahkshi attack, for example. Elemental Psionics – wielded by Toa of Psionics and Makuta, is a dynamic power set, able to be customized and honed to the individual’s own strengths, weaknesses, station in life, etc. Can shift and adapt, scaling to level of power required for whatever task is at hand. Thought vs. Feeling – Again, a psionics-user would have an inclination or proclivity toward affecting one over another, but both can be learned, like learning a second language. This is a lesser index, not really mentioned below, but I think it’s a good distinction to make. Knowing when to influence conscious thoughts versus subtly nudge or suppress someone’s emotions shouldn’t be underestimated. These next three are the more concrete distinctions in power manifestation and development, and formed the best distinctions for classifying abilities. Self vs.Others – I like to think this would be like right hand versus left hand dominance, a psionics-wielder has a natural bent toward one over the other. Certain abilities/powers don’t work on self, and certain ones don’t work on others. Input/Output – pretty straightforward, input is perceptions, output is projections. Receiving vs broadcasting. Basic mind-reading and thought-projection, both of which Ce-Matoran (therefore Order agents) are immune to, for better or worse. Enhance/Alter/Block – Three main ways cognition/thought can be affected by psionic power. Categories Not meant to be hard and fast, impassable barriers, but more of a framework to help think about the huge scope of abilities mind-messing can include. Enhance input (self) – briefly enhance one’s senses, but makes oneself more vulnerable to distractions, thus disrupting the enhancement. Simplest to enhance one sense at a time, disciplined users can enhance more than one. Another aspect is being able to read minds more clearly, from a farther distance, with less restriction. ‘Scrying’ is another possibility of how this power can be manifested or developed. Reading minds falls into this category. On that note, could a super-enhanced mind-reading ability work through dimensional barriers? Would a Toa of Psionics with a Kanohi Mohtrek be able to link up with their duplicated counterparts across space-time? Alter input (self) – greater capacity for self-delusion. Can’t think of a great practical use for this. Kind of a mish-mashed, less potent version of what the Mask of Alternate Futures and Mask of Creation can do – help visualize possibilities. Creating illusions for oneself. Block input (self) – Could be useful for dampening own senses. If a dynamic psionics user had a Suletu, which is reportedly always on at a low level, you could ‘turn it off’, essentially. Enhance input (others) – enhance sense of others, can be helpful or distracting, potentially overwhelming. If target is already a psionics-user and can read minds (ex: Suletu user, another Toa of Psionics, possibly a Makuta), can enhance their psionic range. Can also read through mind-barriers, like what Helyrx would have. Strength of barrier versus strength of enhanced mind-read come into play, and it becomes a battle of will. Mind control would fall into this category. Alter input (others) – like what we saw Makuta do to Vakama in Time Trap, trapping him in a complex illusion, and that would be a highly advanced example. This is different than how an Olisi would work, because Makuta could control and adapt how the vision played out based on Vakama’s actions. Making target think they were hearing voices, another example. It was theorized somewhere that a Kualsi-user could quick-travel to a location shown to them in their minds by a psionics-user, which would be super risky, but theoretically possible. That would fall under this family of abilities. Power of suggestion. Block input (others) – obvious example, trap them in essentially an isolated void. Also useful for shielding allies from psionic attacks. Enhance output (self) – can project thoughts with more clarity, farther, through mind-barriers. Telekinesis probably falls into this category, but could also be its own thing. That being said, I think it needs reasonable limitation(s) – whatever you’re moving can’t be alive (can’t telekinete a Matoran, but you could telekinete his armor?), can’t shift weight more than yourself (can counter this by anchoring self physically against something?), have to be able to see what you’re moving (similar to how a Mask of Quick-Travel is limited). Hypnosis and illusion creation. Alter output (self) – This one was more difficult, and could definitely use more fleshing out. Could fool a static psionics user – like, if a Suletu user was nearby, they’d be able to sense the void you leave if you totally block your output, but if you alter it, they’ll only pick up that you’re thinking of Ussal crabs, for example, instead of picking up that you know they’re trying to mind-read you. Requires awareness that you’re trying to be mind-read, though. Block output (self) – Mind-readers can’t read you. Enhance output (others) – Can project someone else’s thoughts, can boost others’ psionic abilities, whether it be static or dynamic. Alter output (others) – requires awareness that another is outputting psionic power. Could intercept or hijack a Suletu-mediated conversation. Essentially, using psionics to fight psionics. Block output (others) – nullify other psionic powers at the source. Instead of expending a lot of energy and concentration shielding your team from an anger Rahkshi, block the Kraata’s ability to output. More canon or theoretical examples welcome!! Jury’s out on these: • Dream powers – I’m not sure if dreams count as input or output, but dream-alteration, blocking, and enhancement (realization, like the Golden Skinned being’s powers) are pretty cool ideas, I just couldn’t figure out a neat category. The output is internal? The content is self-inputting? No idea. • Telekinesis – see ‘enhance output (self)’ Do powers like disintegration or fragmentation fall inot this category? or how Toa of physical elements, like earth and stone are seen levitating large quantities of their element? • Invisibility – is it a physiological change or an alteration of a perception to viewers? • Kakama – enhanced mental processing is probably needed to be able to function and react while moving that fast. Perhaps some permutation of sensory aptitude • Other abilities that may or may not have a psionic component – Reidak’s adaptability, Axonn’s insanity-heal, Mask of Charisma, Mask of Psychometry, Avak’s prison-creation, Kanohi Rode, Kanohi Elda, Kanohi Iden, Kanohi Mahiki, Mask of Possibilities (related to dream-realization, mask of creation, etc), Kanohi Zatth • Anonna and Tren Krom – if anyone wants to take a crack at these two, they’re in a zone of their own. • ‘Mental blast’ – described as a power that Toa of Psionics are capable of, as well as Hakann. Probably tailored to the attacker’s preference. Also, what would a Psionics Nova Blast do? Leave everyone brain-dead? Drive everyone insane? • Do psionic powers work on Spherus Magna residents? (there may be a topic on this, I’m not sure, I feel like I’ve seen the question asked before). I’d lean toward ‘no’, because I think I read in one of the Greg q&a sessions that he pictures the Matoran Languge to be some kind of coding language, so psionics would flow from that, and probably not work on organic beings. So would psionics be technopathy, then? In summation: Psionics is a cool power, and I think it has the potential to be hugely overpowered. I think a good analogy is this: Psionics as a whole is a library. A Matatu user uses the quick-refence function or asks a librarian, and shortcuts straight to the telekinesis section, but as long as the telekinesis book is checked out, they can’t use any other books in the libarary (ie, they have no other psionic powers of their own). A Toa of Psionics has access to the whole library, and because they’re an exclusive member, they can check out as many books as they want (choose to hone as many powers as they want), but its up to them to put in the work to become a master. Thoughts, disagreements, discussion welcome!!
  2. So I just thinking about Kanohi, and looked up the prototypes of some of the masks, kanohi designs that were never used. I was just thinking about them and what powers they could be assigned if they were given a chance. So I'm going to put up the links to the pictures and my suggestions for potential powers for this unused kanohi designs: Proto-SuletuA - Smokebomb (release a cloud of smoke in a nearby area), Memory (Add, alter or remove memories from the target), Presence (create an impression on the target that affects how you are precieved or remembered) Vacuum or Intangibility (as in Tuyet's mask). Proto-Komau - Animation, Sleep/Sloth, Stasis, Stun, Density Control or Slowing targets down Proto-Akaku - Whirlwind (either turn yourself in to a living cyclone or trap opponents in a mini-tornado), Hypnosis, Disorientation, Tracking (the little eye bit on the top corner marks the target and the mask will be able to locate them), Psychometry ((as in Helryx's mask) or Weather Control. Proto-Mohtrek - Mutation (as in Miserix's mask), Entrapment (Create energy ropes that try up a target) or Elasticity. Proto-SuletuB (Far left) - Insect Control, Poison, Acid or Quick Healing. Proto-Iden (Far Right) - Intangibility (as in Tuyet's mask), Density Control, Shrink (as in this is the Great form of a Kanohi Pehkui) or Imprisonment (Trap a target in a energy sphere like a reverse Hau). Proto-Kadin - Regeneration (as in this is the Great form of a Kanohi Kiril), Smokebomb, Healing (as in the Toa Mangai's of Green mask) Burrowing(able to create tunnels in solid inanimate surfaces), Growth (as in this is the Great form of a Mask of Growth), Manifestation (create temporary physical objects that fade after a short period of time), Thermal Resistence or Density Control. Proto-Calix - Fear, Anger, Power Storage (build up power over time and release it in attacks, elemental powers or physical feats), Power Scream, Sonics, Vaccum or Psychometry (as in Helryx's mask). Proto-Elda - Symbiosis(Draw strength from the presence of allies and increase their prowess slightly in return), Calm (reduce negative emotions and pain in the target), Magnetism, Statis Field or Alchemy (changing one element into another).
  3. Hi, guys! When you observe Bionicle characters physical-body-related powers, would you call their powers "superhuman"? You see, in traditional superhero lores, like DC Comics, Marvel, and Samurai Jack, their physical-body-related powers are called "superhuman", which means an enhanced version of a normal human's psychical attribute. It doesn't have to be just humans, other beings are like that, too. We would always call enhanced physical attributes "super-physical-attributes", but some things, like Wikipedia, calls them "superhuman physical attributes". Examples of these superhuman-physical-attributes are superhuman strength (we would always call it "super-strength"), superhuman speed ("super-speed"), superhuman endurance ("super-tough"), and superhuman reflexes ("super-reflexes"). Wikipedia is being formal with those things and we are doing informal with them. When I observed the characters' enhanced physical attributes, here's what I would see them: 1. Anyone wearing and using the Mask of Strength - they get super-strength. 2. Anyone wearing and using the Mask of Speed - they get super-speed. 3. Titan- or Hulk-from-Marvel-sized beings - they get super-strength. 4. Umarak the Destroyer - He is super-strong and super-tough. Suppose you have G1 Onua fighting against Bane from DC Comics. Onua uses his Mask of Strength to become super-strong while Bane uses his Venom to become super-strong. They are in a contest or fight where they only use their super-strength to defeat each other. Perhaps the result would be either they are evenly matched or Onua wins, depending if his mask is ordinary or Nuva. So, my question is this: Do you consider these enhanced physical attributes "superhuman physical attributes" as you can imagine them? BS01 doesn't call them that way, probably because the characters aren't human. It's your opinion. For me, I would call the enhanced physical attributes "superhuman physical attributes" for how I can see them.
  4. In this topic, you create your own custom Mask Powers! They can be as unique, redundant, silly, or as awesome as you wish them to be. And, you can include a subsequent named Mask along with it, and maybe even a design if you so wish! I'll start... Rebirth - The Mask of Rebirth - If the user dies while wearing this Mask, than soon after death they will be revived as a Flaming Phoenix, regardless of their element. They will still have the same powers and abilities as they did prior to their death, but the only difference is their appearance, and the fact that they can't die while in this form. However, there is a limit to how many times that they can be Reborn, between 1 - 4 generally. Ready? GO!
  5. The masters' masks are the masks of their respective elements. But what do they do? are they the source of their power? Are they powerless without them, both elementally and otherwise? What about the Golden masks? Is it just like going from "olda" to "nuva", like it's just a power level upgrade? And if the masks are the source of elemental powers, then what happens if, say, Tahu wears the Mask of Ice. Would it work for him? Or does that mask work only for one person? What about Protector masks? Are they basically turaga-level elemental power masks? And, here's the one that confuses me the most, what does the Mask of Creation do? When Kulta wore it, all he did was smash the Toa. Doe sit actually help you create stuff? Is it more like the G1 version of Artakha's mask then? But then it also makes you stronger, meaning that even people who aren't the owners of the masks can use them... And what does the Mask of control do? Is it like a high-powered Komau? I guess this should be more straightforward, but it must have gone over my head. Can you guys sum it up?
  6. Okay, so the powers that Toa have are pretty well established. They have an elemental power, a mask power, can make Toa stones, protodermis seals, form Kaita, etc. Matoran have low-level elemental power that manifests as elemental resistance (mostly... sorry, De-Matoran) and cannot use mask powers. But then there are the oddballs. Characters using powers that don't come from their mask or element. The most common one is receiving visions of the future- Vakama is the most obvious example, but it's also happened occasionally to Kopaka, Gali, and a few random Matoran in the MNOGs. What's interesting is that the visions are similar to those granted by a Mask of Clairvoyance in that the user doesn't control when they occur, and the images and sounds they experience are somewhat abstract in nature, rather than being a literal depiction of what will happen. Perhaps the mask simply hones or enhances an ability that is theoretically already present in all Matoran and Toa? Or do those who get visions "naturally" have a glitch of some sort that makes it happen? There's a lot of evidence for Gali having some sort of general psychic ability- the Hapka books depict her as empathetic and perceptive to the point of near mind-reading other Toa, she levitates herself while meditating in MoL, and she can create some form of mind-link with Takua (it could be a manifestation of the latter's Av-Matoran power, but the fact that it only worked with Gali, and that it's sustained over distance, suggests there's something else happening here). It looks as though Gali has some abilities similar to what a wearer of a Mask of Psionics might be able to achieve, though possibly at a lower level or with much less precision. And then there's a character even Greg couldn't explain- Kapura, who moves very slowly but can get places almost instantly when he needs to. Vakama has apparently trained him in using this ability by getting him to hone his focus. Kopaka once said of his elemental powers that the power came from within- "the sword is but the focus". What if the same was true of mask powers- what if they were powered by the users' own energy, but the nature of the mask took the energy and focused and shaped it into that specific power? (Side note- Is there any evidence to suggest characters experience fatigue from using mask powers a lot?) What if some individuals had mutations or glitches in their AI that allowed them to access and shape that energy without a mask? I imagine it would be particularly rare in Matoran, who normally can't use masks anyway, but Vakama might have recognised a potential in Kapura that was similar to what he himself experienced. What do you think? How would you explain all these "bonus" powers?
  7. Sorry if these are really dumb questions. But Bionicle.com is a bit unclear about it, and as far as I can tell there's no easy online resource for Bionicle 2.0's story info. I'm trying to work out the exact abilities of the new Toa. As far as I can tell, their masks are now the source of their elemental powers, and without the masks they have none? Also has it been said anywhere that removing their masks weakens them, as it did in the old storyline? What do the Golden Masks do? The character bios on the official website also note other powers the Toa have; for example Lewa can "commune with plants and the wind" and Onua has "night vision". I thought these might be secondary powers that the Toa possess even without their masks, but Tahu/Gali are noted as having "fire/water control" which is most likely another way of saying "fire/water elemental powers". So are the abilities noted under 'powers' all abilities granted by the masks? If so, why don't all six Toa have "(element) control" listed? Or can Tahu and Gali control their element even without their masks? I thought the new storyline was supposed to be simpler.
  8. So, as we all know, there are eight "basic" Kanoka powers: shrink, enlarge, freeze, teleport, remove poison, weaken, regenerate, and reconstitute at random. Those powers somehow combine to create the multitude of esoteric powers found in Kanohi masks. Greg Farshtey has clarified that a fused disk has the power of the Kanohi it would become if forged. That means that an enlarge + regeneration fused disk is a Kanoka of Shielding. How do you think these Kanoka work? Would they have to be thrown in order to unleash their power, or could they be used by a being holding them? I would think that there must be some limitation to a Kanoka's powers, since Matoran wouldn't make them into Kanohi if they gained nothing by doing so. But how does the rest of S&T feel about accessing Kanoka powers?
  9. I was looking over the list of various Kraata powers that a Makuta has, and I noticed that they possess all the powers of the Bohrok-Kal. Now I'm sure that they don't have as much control over that power as the Kal did, but the fact of the matter is still there. The question is, was there a connection between the Antidermis that the Makuta are made of and the Kal substance that the Bahrag used, and that by creating the Kal they tapped into the powers of the Makuta and gave them to the respective Bohrok? or did the story writers just run out of powers for the Makuta, and decided "hey, we haven't used these powers in awhile, lets reuse them and let Makuta (and through extension Rahkshi) have the ability to have these powers too."? Or could there be a third reason? I'm open for ideas and opinions, I have no opinion of my own on this subject.
  10. The BIONICLE canon is dark, full of horrors, unnecessary sci-fi-ness and inconsistency, and we're trying to make it a bit more consistent. Behold the table of kraata powers (and possibly other ones)! Version 1.1. Version 1.5 by Tremah. Version 2.0 by Tremah.
  11. So here is a question that I've been wondering about for a while. Did the Makuta have too many powers and abilities? Forty Two powers are a lot for one being to have, and doesn't include their abilites to use Shadow Powers and Kanohi Masks. Here is a link to the BS01 Rahkshi page that has all of their powers listed: http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Rahkshi Note: I know that Makuta lose some of their powers when they are inhabiting a robot or soul-less body or if they are exposed to Pit Mutagen. I'm asking this question from the perspective that the Makuta in question have all their abilities and are inhabiting Makuta Armor. I just want to state this to avoid any confusion Anyway, I say that the Makuta did have too many powers. I know that they couldn't use more than one of them at a time, but I still thought that they had way too many. As for the second question, I would simply let them have fewer powers but let each of them have different ones, kind of like Toa with different elemental powers or the Piraka. Now I want to hear from you guys. What do you all think about this?
  12. I've already mentioned this theory in this topic when we were discussing head-canon, and I have a theory about Exo-Toa, and it struck me as maybe it might not be just head-canon and whether it could actually be a possibility. Anywhooo here goes: We know the story of the Exo-Toa, how the Mata used the suits of armor to battle the Bahrag queens but the suits hampered the Toa's energies and so the Toa eventually discarded them and defeated the twins using their powers. It made me wonder, what was the use of making a machine that hampered severely a Toa's natural abilities if only to boost their strength and so forth? So I came up with the theory: What if Exo-Toa are powered by a Toa's elemental powers? Since all their energies are being "absorbed" by the machine, it makes sense why the Toa is unable to use it in battle. And in exchange for the "power boost" the suit of armor grants the Toa extreme strength and other abilities (not to mention use of the special weapons the armor has). Now Exo-Toa are able to function without a Toa rider, but I think the lack of a constant charge of energy makes them somewhat weaker in battle, (like when they were battling the Kal, sure the Kal had them overpowered, but the Exo-Toa went down pretty easily) So basically an Exo-Toa with a rider would be much more powerful than without one. But they're still useful considering they make up a bit of the Brotherhood's army. So, let me know what you guys think.
  13. So I'm a huge Hydraxon fan, and I was so pumped when I saw that both he and Maxilos came with new "kanohi". Or so I thought. I was so eager to read about them in the comics/books, etc and find out what new mask powers that they would have, but then I found out that they weren't Kanohi, but just powerless helmets. So, that left Hydraxon not having any powers at all, but only used weapons to fight (which I admit, is very cool). Yes Maxilos got OP because he got possessed by Makuta, and of course he's only a robot, and it makes sense that he wouldn't have a mask power. But Hydraxon? I was at least hoping that the jailer of the Pit would get a cool mask power, especially when he was given a new "mask" shape for his set. Did anyone else feel this way about those two?
  14. As human beings, we belong in this universe and have abilities to survive in it, but how would those abilities convert (for you), if possible, into Bionicle universe powers (should you be unfortunate enough to end up there by some nefarious plot or mistimed stroke of luck) ?Or in other words, if you were to end up as a Toa tommorrow, what powers would you be likely to end up with? (Not the ones you want, but end up with?) Which ones would you be able to actually use easily? Actually help you survive in the Bionicle universe?
  15. Something that has bugged me for a while regarding mask powers is the following: At least some of them have been stated to have a duration. In particular, the only difference between a Great and Noble Huna is the duration of their invisibility. The first thing I am wondering about is how this duration is measured. Is it a set time, or does it still depend on the user's willpower even after the initial Great/Noble difference? If the former, does the mask need to recharge/generate more power for itself? Can it then be activated while half-charged, for a shorter duration? If the latter, does the power simply become harder and harder to control as the duration increases due to your own mental fatigue? Would a user more easily lose focus after a certain amount of time?Personally, I lean towards the former, since Noble Kanohi are confirmed to have less power total, and so it doesn't make sense to me that they would wear your mind out quicker. The second thing I wonder about is if every mask has a duration. Now, if the duration limit comes from the user's fatigue forcing them to let go of the power eventually, then it would make sense that every mask has a limit. Tahu had trouble keeping the Vahi in check, for example, but to me that seemed more like the danger of losing control rather than the inability to keep the mask going at all. Losing control of the Vahi could cause a lot of crazy stuff to happen, while losing control of a Huna would likely just make the viewer visible again. If the duration is inherent to the mask and the energy it uses, then we have the question of how long any mask can be sustained. A Ruru (night vision) would likely draw very little power, since it just allows your eyes to more easily sense light. The Great version can shine like a flashlight when used to its full extent, though, so we must consider that this additional power usage could potentially make the "batteries" (of either the mask or the user's mind) run out quicker. :)We also have such things as the Nuva masks, which have greatly expanded capabilities, at least in the sharing aspect. Sharing a power would naturally use some extra energy (and extra mind power), but would it shorten the duration, or is the Nuva masks capable of sustaining themselves just as well even when used at full power?I don't expect the answers to be readily available (or else I wouldn't ask ), but I find it interesting to discuss the exact limits of Kanohi usage.
  16. I had a random thought on how a Bionicle character would create diamond. Since diamond is made with heat and pressure, I figured a Toa of Fire wearing a Kanohi Garai could take a lump of charcoal and heat it while increasing the gravity around it to quickly and easily create diamond. What do you think?
  17. This is the review topic for my continuation of The Powers that Be. Please leave C&C, and don't troll.
  18. Alright, so here's my question. I'm wondering how weapons in Bionicle that possess powers aquire those powers. For instance, Karzahni gave power-charged weapons to many if not all of the matoran he repaired and sent away from his land, how did he charge them?
  19. I was just thinking... As you probably know, light that we can see is just one small part of a large spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. My question is this: how much of that spectrum can Toa of Light, or any being with light powers, control? Just the visible part? Or ultraviolet and infrared, too? Microwaves and gamma radiation?
  20. Hey there everyone~Here are some random questions I have about certain Kanohi. I may add a few more, but for now, these are the only things I'd specifically like to know. Some questions, especially those dealing with obscure mask powers, might be unanswerable, but that's okay, LOL. 1. Does a Mask of Undeath user retain sentience after being reborn? Do they retain elemental powers? If the same mask is removed or destroyed before death, does the mask work? What if it is destroyed after the user dies, before the mask activates (or while it is in use)?2. Could the power of element-affiliated Kanohi such as the Matatu or Garai be boosted if worn be a Toa of the same element? (I'm pretty certain that it would be, just need clarification.)3. Could a Miru Nuva possibly create an antigravity field?4. Does a Mask of Intangibility phase through elemental attacks as well as solid objects? (Probably yes.) Does gravity affect the user as strongly when the mask is in use?5. Can a Kiril mend broken Kanohi, and thus restore power to them? Can one be used to 'heal' the mechanical parts of a being? If so, then can a Mask of Healing only stop organic parts from becoming more damaged?6. Does a Mask of Aging age the victim mentally? Like, could it be used in a pinch to mature an inexperienced warrior who didn't take a situation seriously? (Most likely not, but it's worth asking.)7. Can a Ruru's glow pierce through elemental, as opposed to natural, shadow? Can an Akaku see through constructs of elemental shadow (if the shadow is concentrated like a wall or some such thing)?
  21. So, after about three weeks of reviewing, restructuring, rewrites, revisions, and all those other words that start with R, I present to you, my continuation of The Powers That Be. It's probable that you've heard many different continuations of this series by other people, but I ask that you take a moment to read mine. I promise you won't be disappointed. Also please give me some of your thoughts in the Review Topic, even if they are short and simple like, "I enjoyed this story, or I didn't enjoy this story."Also, please keep in mind that Velika is not the murder of Tren Krom and Karzahni, I found out about this after I wrote it, and I also quite dislike this revelation of the story. You can read the original first four chapters that were written by Greg Farshety here Review Topic Chapter 5 Lewa sat in a prison cell made of wood and twigs. He listened to the green beings outside talk amongst each other. If he really wanted to, Lewa could have easily shattered the flimsy structure to pieces, but he wasn’t out to make himself appear threatening, so he decided he would play the weakling unless put in serious danger. One of the beings soon came up to him and handed him a bowl of some strange liquid and said something in the foreign language. All Lewa could make out was a strange word, "Thornax."He didn't understand why he had been given it, but he took it and dipped his head gratefully. The small being walked away, casting mystified and confused looks over his shoulder at Lewa. Suddenly there was a crash, and the massive Reptilian Rahi that he had seen earlier came stomping into the clearing.Several of the small green villagers grabbed spears and rushed at the beast. Lewa watched in horror as one was zapped by the laser, and flew across the clearing, where he landed on the ground, and lay motionless. Lewa wasn't going to sit and watch these people get slaughtered, even if they had been hostile towards him.He flung his arms out, and blasted the prison cell apart. The villagers turned, and stared at him as if they expected him to be allied with the Rahi. Lewa activated his mask power, and launched himself into the air and sailed over the heads of the villagers. He slammed a fist into the Rahi's face, sending it toppling onto its side. The creature groaned, and Lewa used the moment to grab his two Air Katanas that lay in a spear rack by the side of one of the huts. He launched himself into the air again, but before he could strike a second blow to the creature, a massive quake shook the ground, sending the Rahi running back into the forest. When Lewa stood up again, he heard a cheer arise from the villagers. He wasn't quite sure how, but now he could understand the strange villagers. They picked him up and continued to cheer as they carried him in circles around the fire in a victory dance… ... Miserix smiled as he stared at the last remaining pool of antidermis left in existence. It had once been held in a cave on an island south of Artidax. With his knowledge of teleportation engineering that he had learned from Tridax, Miserix had built a teleporter that allowed him to move the island, similar to the way the Makuta base of Destral moved. With some precise planning, he had relocated the island to the watery section of Spherus Magna that had once been the moon of Aqua Magna.About ten feet away stood two figures; one was Vezon, an insane half-Skakdi Warrior who just so happened to have an Olmak fused to his face. The other was a being known as The Cursed One, who just so happened to be a Great Being. The Cursed One glared at Miserix; Miserix had agreed to help him escape, under the agreement that The Cursed One would help Miserix with something. The Cursed One walked forward and the ground around him seemed to come to life where he walked. The Great Being reached out his hand towards the antidermis, and slowly dipped a finger into the greenish-black substance. The pool swirled, and half a dozen hazy figures appeared. The Cursed One glared again, "Can I leave now oh great and mighty Miserix?" He said in a voice tinged with sarcasm.Miserix nodded, and the figure left, the floor in the cavern ceasing to live as he did so. Vezon said, "Well, I've love to stay, but I've got people to stab."He cackled as he pulled out the sharp blade that he had been given so long ago by Trinuma, and he thought of all the people he felt like killing. First he would kill the Piraka, and then the Toa Mahri. He opened a portal and stepped through, but he simply emerged on the other side of the room. The Skakdi smiled and said, "What an interesting cave, almost looks like...oh." He stared at Miserix and said, "I think the mask can hear me."Miserix ignored Vezon and stared at his six new minions, and gestured towards six sets of protosteel armor and weapons. The six newly-formed Makuta donned the armor, and then kneeled, saying, "Oh Great Miserix our leader, what is your bidding?"Miserix cackled as he stared down at the six new Makuta... ... Helryx stood outside the chamber that had once held a Great Being who had only referred to himself as The Cursed One. Soon after arrival, Toa Lewa and Toa Tuyet and left, and Miserix began to talk with the Great Being. She tried to intrude, since it sounded like Miserix was going to leave them there, but she was pinned to the wall by Miserix’s shadow bolts.Soon after, Miserix grabbed Vezon, who screamed, and a portal appeared on the other side of the room. The Cursed One and Miserix, who was still holding the insane Skakdi, stepped through the portal, and soon after it vanished, along with the shadow bolts that held her to the wall, leaving Helryx with Artakha, Axonn, and Brutaka, who was under some kind of spell.Artakha spoke, “We need to find Protodermis, so I can create another Olmak to get us off this planet.”He began to walk into the jungle with Brutaka behind him, but Helryx said, “You can’t just order us around!”Artakha turned and looked at her, staring her right in the eyes, challenging her defiance. She simply bowed her head in submitance and followed along with Axonn. She paused for a moment and said, “What about the Toa of Air?”Artakha continued towards the jungle and said, “His destiny lies here, now come, we must hurry.”… ... Kongu chuckled as Hewkii, who was arm-wrestling with Kolar, a Toa of Gravity. Both Toa were using their gravitational powers to their advantage, but Hewkii only had a mask that controlled gravity. Kolar, on the other hand, controlled the entire element, and Hewkii was losing. The Toa of Stone’s arm slammed against the table and he said, “This is a stupid game anyway.” His purple Kanohi flashed in the sun as Kolar said, “You just can’t admit that I’m better at it than you.”Suddenly, Kolar’s grin turned to a frown as he looked upwards, and his eyes widened, “Fliers, incoming!”The other two Toa stared upwards; Kongu readied his two Cordak Blasters, and Hewkii pulled his spear off of his back. Kolar dodged a bolt of shadow and somersaulted to the left, landing in a crouch and firing a blast from his laser shotgun. One of the flying figures began to fall, and Hewkii and Kolar combined their powers to slam it down into the ground.Kolar drew his sword from his back and tried to make contact with the figure so he could pin him to the ground, but the figure dodged, and a blade of his own made of Shadow appeared in its hand. Kolar’s eyes widened as he said, “Makuta?!”Kongu fired two Cordak Bolts simultaneously from his cannons, and watched as the other two Makuta dodged, and then zoomed towards him. He held his hands up to his face for protection, but a wall of Stone arose from the ground and the two Makuta slammed into it, and fell to the ground, stunned from the impact.Kolar felt himself get pushed back into a defensive position, as the taller and stronger Makuta swung his blade at him. Hewkii tackled one of the dazed Makuta, and was about to deliver a blow to the shadowy figure’s face, but he was blasted in the face by a Power Scream, sending him flying backwards where he landed in a barely conscious heap twenty feet away.Kongu fired three more bolts at a third Makuta, who now stood with one arm limp from the damage. He was about to blast him with his elemental wind, but suddenly two simultaneous screams came from nearby. Kongu glanced around in horror. Hewkii stood with a shadow dagger driven into his arm, and was about to be killed by one of the Makuta.Kongu was even more horrified as he saw Kolar with a shadowy blade driven through his chest. Kongu and reached his hand towards his fallen friend, trying to save him, but it was too late. Kolar’s eyes were huge, they flickered for a moment, and then the Makuta drew his blade out and the Toa of Gravity screamed again as his heartlight went out.Kongu ran towards Hewkii and activated his mask power. Seconds later a massive Rahi Worm came out of the ground. It saw the Makuta first thankfully, and Kongu grabbed Hewkii’s body, pulling the dagger out and ran towards the east, leaving the Makuta to deal with the Rahi Beast…
  22. I have recently been studying up on my Kraata powers. (I've always been a little rusty on them.) I have a couple questions.1) Do the Rahkshi and Kraata of Darkness absorb light and turn it into energy, or do they just release it in a shadow blast or something?2) What is the difference between electricty and chain lightning?Feel free to post any other questions you may have about kraata powers and answers to any questions posted here. Note: This topic is very similar to the Heat Vision and Laser Vision topic. Please do not post any questions/answers here that should be posted there.
  23. There are many Kanohi powers in Bionicle, but there are still many powers left to use. You can put your own origional mask power ideas here. You can also give it a name, picture, fight scenario, or anything else you feel nessisary. Please, keep them origional. Here are a few ideas of mine, but since I may use them my epic, they are under a spoiler tag.
  24. will work on Tahu? Will it just turn off his Mask of Shielding and Fire powers and leave the Rahkshi powers intact? Or will it turn Tahu fully into a powerless being? On a related note, would the Great Beings be able to form similar methods to shut off other beings' powers (such as Makuta, Skakdi, Vortixx, etc)? Or will this be difficult or impossible due to the fact that some of these were created by Mata Nui, not the Great Beings?
