  1. Strialyth Just a build to use up all those Ehlek heads and Takadox armor Peices. Flickr Gallery
  2. The poll says it all, which do you prefer? You can pick more than one if you can't decide,
  3. Here is a new game thingy. this is an example: WYR have your arm ripped off by an alligator, or a shark?
  4. Recently in an American "super bowl" ad some characters you may recognize appeared at about 29 seconds in, here is the ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFV48UhqL8M#t=43 Thoughts?
  5. So, first off, hello, I'm new here! I've been a fan of Bionicle since 2005 and I've been building for a long time. I'd like to say that this is probably the best moc I've ever made and I'd like to hear feedback about it The gallery is here: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/library/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014?sort=3&page=1 This is my entry into the Battle for the Gold Mask Contest. 2015 Story: Toa Viutrian, a toa of magnetism, was once the guardian of Okoto. He was respected by all of the inhabitants, namely Ekimu, until he began stealing from the very villagers he swore to protect. One day he used his magnetic blast to break into a very strong house and he used so much power that he killed the protectors inside the house. Ekimu, who had crafted one of his most unique masks for this toa, was deeply disappointed to hear the news. Before he could search for the toa, Makuta had created the Mask of Ultimate Power and sent both of them into sleep. Viutrian still inhabits the island, though he's been absent from sight for a long time... Weapons: He carries twin Polar Axes (haha pun) which enable him to control the magnetic fields around him to give him limited flight and manipulate the magnetic fields into powerful magnetic blasts. Powers: Viutrian has immense control over magnetism; he can manipulate magnetic fields to cause explosions, create magnetic forcefields, and cause things to levitate (including himself). His powers work better when channeled through his Polar Axes, but he can still perform less powerful attacks and defenses by hand. He can also take quite a beating because he has an immense amount of armor. The MOC itself: Viutrian features a technical build with a very unique gear system. It's unique in construction, but it was made as a prototype to the 2015 gear system: meaning that while Viutrian has the gears, he can still be posed quite extensively. I had him built very differently (sorry, I don't have any pictures of his original version) but I grew tired of him because he had no gear functions and he just looked weird. Please don't be afraid to tell me what you think of him (as a MOC or his story)!
  6. I realize the answer/discussion of this will very possibly be quite similar to that of the "how did the Bionicle symbol exist in the MU" question, but on the off chance there is a real answer or whatnot, I'll ask it anyway. How did "Beware the Swarm" get written on things before the Bohrok were released? (Or was this just a not-entirely-canon MNOG thing?) I doubt that it would've been put there by the GSR or GBs or anything, since the Bohrok were technically "good" (or maybe lawful neutral? or something? at least, they weren't bad).
  7. Hello, ladies, gentleman, and portly perusers of the world wide web, and welcome, one and all, to... ACTION! ADVENTURE! ROMANCE! NONE OF THESE THINGS AND MORE WILL RISE INTO THE SKIES OF LEGEND AND DRILL TOWARDS A BETTER TOMORROW! FOR TOMORROW IS TACO NIGHT, AND AIN'T NOBODY DARE MESS WITH TACO NIGHT! Yeah so k hi. These comics are a continuation of MSPain(T) Comics!, my longest running, (and probably funniest), comic series. I got bored and ended them. But then I got unbored and rebored a few times, so there were a few very short-lived comic series in between. Now I'm unbored again, so who knows how long this will last! Allon-sy! Comics ----------------------------------------------- Comic 1: If At First You Don't Succeed... Comic 2: Helping, Shmelping Comic 3: Comic Failure Comic 4: Dispose of the Prose Comic 5: All the Lights in the Sky are Stars Comic 6: Special Creativity Comic 7: The Catnip's Outta the Bag Comic 8: Punny, Isn't It? Comic 9: Peaceful Aggressiveness ----------------------------------------------- Public Relations ----------------------------------------------- We need Guest Stars and Permanent Guest Stars, and lots of them! If you don't know how the GS/PGS system works, it goes like this: You send me a chart with your character name, personality, spritesheet and accessories to me in a PM, also detailing whether you want to be a Guest Star or Permanent Guest Star, and I stick you in my comic strip! (In the event you cannot/will not provide a spritesheet, simply give me the details regarding your appearance instead. Keep in mind, if you aren't specific enough, artistic liberties will have to be taken.) Guest Stars 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: Permanent Guest Stars 1: TBK 2: 3: 4: 5: ----------------------------------------------- Credits ----------------------------------------------- Sprite Kit: Dark709 Software Used: Microsoft Corporation and The GIMP Team Comic Creator: Kung Fu Pyro The Great and Powerful, Noble Knight to the Great Throne of Uruguay ----------------------------------------------- Website ----------------------------------------------- That's right, these comics even have their very own website, updated every day with the latest comic! You can find the link to it here, or just click the picture in my signature! ----------------------------------------------- Comments? Questions? Criticisms? Leave them all down in the comments section below, because that's what it's there for!
  8. Hello everyone this is my first epic The Return of the Toa. Review Topic link http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/13920-review-topic-the-return-of-the-toa/ This may be a little different from most epics due to my writing style . It will be Written mainly in a script format so when you read it each character`s name will be on the left side like this. Character 1 - Hello. Character 2- Oh hello there . If something is written with in these [] it means that it is a action done by the stated character . Anyway now that the rules for the series are over here is the series prolog . Prolog. Narrator-wellcome my friends we gather again to hear the legends of the Toa . Long ago a mighty battle was fought here on SpheresMagna between the evil makuta and the mighty Mata Nui . Their battle was a hard one and many died in the battle but eventually with the Help of the Toa tahu and the other Toa of the world were able to weaken the makuta where Mata nui could destroy is body and burry it beneath the world . That was many thousands of years ago and since then the Toa eventually completed their destinies and became Turaga . before long the Toa had all but died out and eventually there legend slipped in to myth . The Turaga tried to keep the legends of the toa alive but they could not eventually the matoren of spheresmagna just thought of them as stories meant for a nice night by the fire , But soon three matoren would soon find that the legends where true . ACT 1 SCENE 1 [Ry a po-Matoren walks out of his condo in New Metru Nui and watches the ships fly past and then sits down on his patio sighing as a Ga-Matoren named Asa walks out to meet him ] Asa- Ry are you alright ? You never come out here and just sit unless something is wrong . Ry- I`m fine Asa , I have just been thinking what it would have been like back in the days of the great war . Asa -you mean that old fairy tell we learned when we were younger ? Come on would you really want to live in a time of terror like that I mean if the story is true at all. Ry- You don`t believe it? Asa- I think a big war did happen long ago but I doubt it had a bunch of giant robots fighting around , and come on a ancient all knowing being that used his last ounce of power to bring life back to this planet that's a little far fetched don`t you think? Ry- You may be right but wouldn't it be fun to be a Toa , you know running around saving the day and all that . Asa- I am fine where I am you have always been the more adventures type . Now hurry up and get ready to go or we will be late for work . Ry- Oh yea I almost forgot thanks for reminding me . [ The two matoren get ready to go and they head to the Kardi Labs ] Scene 2 [Ry and Asa walk in the doors of the facility .] Ry-I got to head to the lab we are getting really close to a break through in a new energy source . Asa- Great well while you are creating that I`m stuck on tour duty so see you around . Ry- Bye. [ They separate and head there own ways , Ry walking to his laboratory where there is a ko- Matoren sitting at a desk studying a strange green ad glowing stone ] Ry- Any news on the rock Idure? Idure- Its still emitting the energy and once we get the last few parts in place on the generator we can see if it is possible to control the energy . Ry-good I`ll go get to work on that . [ Ry picks up some tools and heads to a room with a large machine in it and he starts to work on the machine ] Idure-[under his breath as he picks up the green glowing stone ] you will grant untold power I know it but I cant let that glorified mechanic use you for his plan no you will be mine . Mean while Asa- Hello I am Asa I`ll be your tour guide today [points to a glass wall that has matoren and Igori scientist testing and cataloging 12 different Rahi breeds ] Here at Kardi Labs we do many different test from breeding new rahi to new forms of energy and even the occasional mech suits . [ One of the young Igori in the tour group holds up his hand] Yes? Igori- do you have any of the old bohrok A friend of mine said that you have a bunch in your basement . Asa-[laughs slightly] no we do not the bohrok are old robots that no longer serve any use but that's a history lesson not for here . Any more Questions ? Meanwhile [Ry completes the machine ] Ry-There done ok bring the stone everything is ready . Idure-[brings the stone in and places it in the center of the machine and it activates as Ry sits down at a control panel ] Is it working? Ry- All systems are operational I just need to activate the barrier or the energy may be released all at once and who knows that could happen if it does that . Idure-[ Pulls out a plasma gun and aims it at Ry] You will do no such thing I know what will happen and I want it to happen . Ry- Idure are you insane it could cause a massive explosion . Idure-Maybe I am [ Idure shoots Ry in the shoulder and it knocks him away from the controls where he cant activate the barrier . The machine then starts to shake ] Ry- Idure don`t do this . Idure-Its to late now the power will be mine . [ Just then the Machine explodes ] Meanwhile Asa- And that is why we don`t allow vorox to work here .[ She hears the explosion and knows its from Ry`s lab.] Ry !! everyone please evacuate the lab for the moment do not worry it was most likely just a bad energy cell but its better safe then sorry .[ The tour group runs off as Asa Runs to the lab .] Ry ! Ry ! Are you in here ? Ry-Asa I`m in here. [she runs to him and picks him up] Asa- Oh my gosh you have been shot . Ry-That's not the worst of it look [Points at the machine and Asa looks over to see Idure in front of the stone ] Idure-Yes I feel it coming The power of the stone is free and its mine ! [ Just then twelve green beams of black energy shoot out of the stone and fly around the room as if they are alive and they fly in to the vents ] Ry-That can`t be good. Asa-That looks worse, look! [ Idure picks up the stone as a 13th beam of energy fly`s out and grabs his heart stone and Idure merges the stone with his heart stone and turns around his Eyes having turned red and black Crack like line forming on his mask and body .] Ry-I think we have a major problem . To be continued .
  9. Full Picture: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/CKinVA/Signatures/533_final.jpg This is a three part epic I am currently working on, I am up to about chapter 7 (out of about eight) of part one. I will provide updates of where I am in the epic, but for now here is an introduction to the story. Part one: 100% Part two: 3 Chapters done (It's longer than I anticipated) Part three: 0% Introduction Sandstorm started out as a Matoran, like any other Toa. But unlike most, whose lives were filled with knowledge, exploration, and regular everyday stuff. His life was as a back-alley adventurer of danger. Always on the lookout for a job that would get him cold hard money. Be it clean or not. He was often hunted by the Vahki. he was caught once. But, because of luck, he got away. He took a job one day for an old coot who lived on the outskirts of Po-Metru. He handed him an orange stone with a soft glow, and told him to take it to the Toa Suva for a friend to pick up. When he got there, Vahki were everywhere. He had to employ stealth to get inside. But it didn't work out so well. As much as he hated going underground, he had to. He almost got his head bitten off by a Tarakava in the process. Once he was inside, he dropped the stone where he was told to, and when he was about to leave, Vahki swarmed in. Sandstorm had no choice but to see what that mysterious stone could do. He quickly threw it into the Toa Suva and ducked for cover, thinking that it would explode. But, nothing had happened. Yet. He was caught by the Vahki and got thrown into jail for breaking and entering, and countless other crimes that he had committed. One day, when he was cursing Mata Nui for putting him in a place like this, a bolt of lightning streaked though the only window on the wall. Sandstorm tried to dodge, but the lightning followed him wherever he went. He finally gave up and allowed himself to be hit by the lightning and felt himself growing larger and stronger. Once the changes had finished, he looked down at his new Toa form, thanked Mata Nui, and burst through a newly made hole in the wall. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Link to my review topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=9068
  10. Otana is a Le-Matoran that fell down a cave many years before the events of The return of the toa take place while testing his wing pack . Personality -Otana is a care free matoran like most Le-Matoran but he will quickly jump in to a battle if it is the only way to get out of a situation .He has a nack for annoying people he should not, this list including beings like The shadowed one Glatorian and even his fellow matoran but in the end he is a friend any one would like to have. Otana is one of the few Matoran to still use the ancient chute speak . Weapons- When Otana fights he prefers a hit a run tactic of flying in and using the sharp blades he built in to his gauntlets to fight with . other wise he is not much of a fighter and is terrible in a close up fight . His wing pack was a prototype built by Kardi labs and was mint to give Matoran the power of flight. Originally it failed but with some old tech that Otana found in the ruins of Metru Nui he was able to get it to work . return of the toa mocs by The MegazordMan, on Flickr Wings closed front. return of the toa mocs by The MegazordMan, on Flickr return of the toa mocs by The MegazordMan, on Flickr wings closed back. return of the toa mocs by The MegazordMan, on Flickr Wings spread front. return of the toa mocs by The MegazordMan, on Flickr Wing spread back.

  12. Title says it all, of all the tribes in the Land of Chima that we've seen so far, which is your favorite? The Croc tribe always looked the coolest to me, but the new Spider tribe has really grown on me; I'd probably say that the Spider tribe is my favorite. What about you?
  13. Title says it all. Post constructive criticism, thoughts, and discussions about the story here. Link
  14. The story behind this is basically that I had a MOC I was doing nothing with and a picture of a valley that I had taken on Smith's Mesa that I was doing nothing with. So, through the magic of GIMP, I made a picture out of it. Yay! ^ ^ Click for full! I also made a version with the cloth effect, which I personally like better, but you may not. Comments? Constructive criticism? Leave them down in the comments section below, because that's what it's for!
  15. This is Aleks's(The Remorseful Automaton) 19th Birthday today. Happy Birthday to our favorite cynical robot.
  16. Happy birthday Flaredrick the Sniper! Hope you like both of my presents! Seriously guys, wish Flare a happy birthday, he deserves it.
  17. Here is a pic of me that I drew a whyle back, posting it on my comics... so I decided to show the world.
  18. These are my takes on the Great Beings. These are old models, and were posted on here before, but that was over two years ago on the old forum, so I'm just uploading them here for everyone to see. I've had responses in the past say these look like the Element Lords, well, before we knew what they look like. I pictured each Great Being representing one of the tribes of Spherus Magna, so that's how I designed them. Well, I hope you enjoy them. (Click on each thumbnail to link to the full-size picture.) Crexon Heremus Velika Angonce Retulin Zyllix Please comment, and that's my mark in the bottom right corner, so no stealing!
  19. Well, I decided to whip this up when I was bored with homework - about 30 mins of Do NOT bypass the word filter - Rayg sketching, and 30 mins of coloring during breaks at school. What I was thinking of when I drew this was the scene where Master Chief was on the forerunner dreadnought in the Halo 2 ending cutscene, where Lord Hood says, "Mind telling me what you're doing on that ship?" to which Chief replies, "Sir. Finishing the fight." Finish the Fight became Halo 3's official tagline. You will notice that Lewa is cocked to the side, with the light coming behind from behind him, similar to that in the cutscene. Well, it's nothing special, but I hope you like it. As you may know, Lewa Nuva actually had some design elements from Master Chief (many of which were eventually cut), but I also just saw Bionicle 2008 as a heroic finishing point for a main portion of the plot arc. Also, if the picture doesn't work, here is the URL: http://s1242.beta.photobucket.com/user/relicblade/media/Leewah00013_zps3897a8cd.jpg.html And of course, BZP says that my picture thing isn't allowed. Just take the link, please. P.S. Sketched in pencil, then scanned, then colored using Photoshop CS5.
  20. Tales of the Wanderer When your world has fallen, what do you do? Do you lie down and die,or keeping going? I choose to keep going, but if a record isn't kept, then why bother right? As we all know, history is written by the victor. And if we lose, then someone should know the truth of what happened. My name is Scott, but I think I'm getting ahead of my self, so I'll start at the being. I was born into a world of heroes and super-powered people. Too bad they were all dead by the time I was born. Here, some of greatest hero teams are dead. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-men, to name the big ones. When the Phoenix came back, it went crazy, killing most of the superheroes around. That was a year before I was born. I lived a normal life, sort of. I was a social outcast, even in kinder garden, and I didn't mind it at all. The first month, nobody would talk to me during play time, and to this day, I'm still not sure why. I wasn't mean or anything, but that's beside the point. By the time the second month rolled around, we had a new kid. He was already enrolled, as I learned later, but he had been really sick, and couldn't make it to school. I walked up to him and said hello to him. He said hi back, and we sort of became friends, seeing as he was the first to talk to me at this school besides my sister, and she barely spoke to me anyways. We told each other are names. His was Blake, and mine Scott. The two of us were a pair that was hard to separate, as we would only talk to each other, and the teacher, that was it. By the start of middle school, I had started to develop a crush on Blake's sister, Leixe. I was working up the nerve to ask her out when Blake's powers came in. He always like wolves, and that was what he shifted into, a Grey wolf. He mauled one the kids who picked on him within an inch of his life. I'll admit, I was a tiny bit afraid, but then forgot about it after about three seconds. My friend had Super-powers! That was awesome in so many ways. For one thing, no one would bother us, as they didn't want to run the risk of being mauled by Blake. It was hard for him, and I like to think I helped him deal with it, at least a little bit. While Blake was dealing with his powers, mine were coming in as well, but mine were much more subtle. I was a Techno-path, and I didn't quite know it yet. I was building computers a lot, and had become my school's unofficial tech support. I didn't mind it one bit. It was fun showing up all my teachers, it really was. During all this, I did ask out Lexie, and she said yes. It was an awkward few days till we worked it out. He'd maul me if I broke Lexie's heart, and I would of asked him to if I did anyways, so it all worked out. Now, I do have a sister, Sarah, and she had powers as well. Hers though, made her a target for everyone to make fun of. She had a pair of wings, and looked like a cat-person. A lot of the nerds at our School called her a Khajiit, or the Dragonborn, it deepened on which one you talked to. She started to go cold, emotionally. Maybe if I'd payed more attention to her, she wouldn't of been put into the place were she is now. There is one thing I remember, about a month before we moved. It was the end of the school year, so summer was starting again, and the sunset was amazing from the roof of the apartment building I lived in. The four of us, me, Blake, Sarah, and Lexie were up there, just talking about anything. Then I said “We should leave home when were all old enough. Be like the X-men, out saving the world and all that.” Blake then said, “ Will need a name for our team then.” “How about Bad Company?” Lexie said. She always had good ideas. “Isn't that a song, or was it a band?” Sarah asked. “Both.” Blake then pulled out his Ipod, and started to play the song Bad Company by the band Bad Company. We all liked the song, and went with the name. “ Bad Company, till the day we die!” we all shouted out. To bad we wouldn't get the chance to be Bad Co., at least not for a long time.Review TopicEdit: Link to the review topic added in.-Wind-
  21. So I was just bored and decided to build an Agori leader. I don't have a name for him, I simply call him "The Storyteller." I don't know if I'll ever include him in my books, but I just felt like showing this to you. I only took a picture from the front, since there's nothing really exciting to see in the back. The Malum claw is supposed to be like a shield or something that can also be used as a melee weapon. And as for why he wears a mask, it actually isn't a mask if you look at Hydraxon's page, it's simply a helmet/faceplate.Front (Large): http://www.brickshel...eller_front.jpg

  24. The Observers Visions In the time before time…I watched as the once-mighty planet shattered into pieces, and I watched as the robotic vessel the others called their home started its journey through the stars. I observed the many events that took place within that robot – that universe. From the first hesitant steps of the Matoran to the treachery and eventual downfall of the League of Six Kingdoms; I watched it all. The others also watched, but I had no idea what scenes they were forced to view or if they too suffered the same way I did. It was our duty to examine the history of that world, and for most of us it was a wearisome task. I was no exception to this, for I would often grow tired of observing what had already come to pass.Among our numbers were a few who, like myself, wished to get a glimpse of the future instead of this endless stream of age-old history. When we were not busy fulfilling our duties of examining the past (which, admittedly, was not very often), we would often debate on what the future would be like. You see, we only knew of one time: the past. The present was hidden to us, and the future was an eternal mystery to all. Although you could argue that we each had our own time that could be labeled as the present, I believe most of us would agree that that was nonsense. When we were created, we were forced to cast aside our own lives for the sake of something greater.Or at least that was what we had been told. I found that “something” to be infuriatingly vague, for it gave us no idea of what exactly we were sacrificing what others deemed so precious for. Was it for the Matoran, who lived carelessly happy lives down below? Was it for the future that we would never live to experience, trapped as we were in a bottomless pit of the past?I kept these thoughts to myself, but this was my reason for wanting to see what would come to be. I wanted to know that my sacrificing my own happiness and the similar sacrifices of the others would indeed come to bring about something worthwhile. Even in my heart, I couldn’t imagine what could possibly be worth all that I had endured. I could only label that future as “something”, for none of us knew what it was. That was what I hated about the visions; the future was hidden from even we who had more than earned the right to know it. In all the events I had seen unfold, good had always somehow managed to prevail. So why, when there were those suffering for the sakes of others, could nothing but misfortune come their way?I closed my eyes, hoping in desperation that it would block out the images rushing through my mind. I knew it wouldn’t; I had tried hundreds of times before now and it had never worked before. However, a person could always hope. For me, hope was all I had left. I had hope, not for the future, but to see the future.Visions of the past were all I lived for, and visions of the future were all I dreamed of. Lava Rescue The Legends of Lhii Lhii calmly noted the current of the lava and carefully repositioned his lava board so that he wouldn’t lose control of it. This land of heat and lava was his domain, and he had no intention of making a stupid mistake and dying because of it. He had a reputation to uphold, after all.As Lhii surfed, he thought about what had happened on the island during the last few months. At first, life had been peaceful, with the only concern of the Matoran being a slight overabundance of free time. Lhii had of course used that time to build a name for himself as the island’s best lava surfer, but lately… Lately, there had been instances. A missing tool here, a broken Ussal cart there. Nothing too big, but certainly an annoyance to a Matoran actually invested in their work. But yesterday, a Matoran had gone missing. It was the first time anything like this had happened on their peaceful little island, and it had caused quite the uproar. Lhii himself had been quite shaken by the news, though he tried to conceal his worry with a number of bad jokes and general tomfoolery. The other Matoran all wondered how he could behave in such a manner while such a grave situation was taking place, but Lhii refused to explain his actions.Lhii’s best friend had disappeared, and Lhii was going to find him if it was the last thing he did.* * *Weeks went by, with no sign of the missing Matoran. Eventually, the island gave up, convinced that the Matoran was gone for good. Lhii knew better, though. He knew his friend was out there. He had to be. So Lhii kept looking, even when all trails had long since dried up and everyone else had abandoned the search. One day, Lhii decided to take a short break from his constant search and relax a bit, to give himself a short reprieve. Naturally, this meant participating in a sport which entailed his being separated from a lake of lave by nothing more than a few inches of metallic something-or-rather. To Lhii, lava surfing was the most enjoyable thing in the world. As Lhii surfed, he noticed a small tunnel branching off from the main path. Making his way over to it, Lhii noticed a few scratch marks on the wall. From the looks of it, they belonged to Nui Rama, but what would Nui Rama have been doing scratching at the wall? They were much too big to fit inside, unless…Without hesitation, Lhii flung himself into the tunnel, the heat steadily increasing as he ventured farther in and further down. After a while of surfing, Lhii thought he heard a small voice cry out from the darkness. It was faint, but he had a good idea of who it belonged to. Sure enough, just a bit farther ahead was his friend desperately clinging to the wall in an attempt to not fall into the lava and be horrifically burned (and subsequently killed).“I found you!” Lhii said, his voice ringing with triumph. However, his newly-refound companion did not share in his happiness.“How are we supposed to get back? The slope is too steep to surf up!” the Ta-Matoran wailed. At this point, Vakama stopped talking and looked at the group of Ta-Matoran assembled before him. His eyes were serious, and his voice was grave. However, the Ta-Matoran would never be quite sure if what he said next was in seriousness or not.“And that is why you always surf with a buddy.” The Gift of Flight Flight The setting sun cast a crimson light across the horizon, the combination of the light and scenery creating a breathtaking scene that few ever had the chance to behold. One of those select few was currently staring into the sky, his orange eyes attempting to pierce through the heavens and see what lay beyond. He remained that way until the sun disappeared completely, at which point he awoke from his reverie and began the trip back to the place he called home. For a while, he walked in silence. However, as he neared his “home” a weary voice cried out to him from the darkness.“Ah, there you are! I’d hoped to find you before you left, but was afraid I’d missed you.”The Toa looked at the older being, an indecipherable look in his eyes. The wizened figure was the closest thing to family he had left, but he still had no intentions of being treated like a child.“Master, with all due respect-“The elderly individual lifted up a hand in interruption and said, “I’ve a gift for you.”The Toa bit his tongue, afraid that out of his irritation he might say something he would later regret. However, he couldn’t help but be curious as to what this “gift” was.“I spent a long while contemplating on what to give you before your departure, and this is what I eventually decided upon. If you insist on calling yourself by this new name, then I think it’s only fitting that you’re given this.”From with his robes, the being pulled out a Kanohi mask. Its visage was fierce, almost like that of a monster’s, but it had a certain streamlined quality to it nonetheless. Although difficult to properly examine in the dim lighting, the Toa immediately felt as if the mask was perfect in every way. Its shape, its red and black coloring, everything about it simply seemed like it had been made for him.Noticing his student’s reaction, the elderly being smiled gently. “I’m glad you like it,” he said, “but the true value of a Kanohi lies not in its appearance but its ability.”Although both of them knew that, he had felt the need to say it anyway. There had been times when his student had become a little obsessed with some detail and ended up completely missing the point of the main lesson. Of all the lessons he had taught, this one was possibly the most important, and the one he was most determined to get through to his pupil.“The ability of this particular mask is flight, making it a Kadin. I’m sure you’re familiar with its power well enough to not need any further explanation.”The Toa nodded, his mind already imagining what he could do with this new ability. A whole new style of combat lay stretched out before him, and he was eager to begin exploring it.His mentor, however, had other ideas of how he should use his new mask. The hope had been that once his student experienced some of the joys the world had to offer, he would give up on his path of revenge-laden “justice”. To him, the Kadin was a gift, a chance to see the world in a brand new way. In a way, he was right. The Toa thanked his master for the gift and, after placing the mask upon his face, soared off into the night, his flying unsteady due to inexperience.“Go, Salamander. May my gift help you soar amongst the light and keep you from falling into the darkness...” Arrival Alternate Universe A cylindrical object washed upon a deserted shore. Despite the signs that it had been adrift for many years, its hull gleamed a bright silver in the cheery sunlight. A few birds darted from their trees, curious as to what the new arrival was. One in particular was especially daring, and settled itself upon the strange object. After a moment of deliberation, its head ducked down in a pecking motion, making a considerable noise on impact. The sound rang throughout the air, a signal to all that lived on the island that its heroes had finally arri-Something inside the canister began screaming, initially out of frustration and eventually out of simple rage. The birds, startled by loud noise, retreated back to their trees to observe from a safer distance. After a few minutes, the voice fell silent. The beach seemed strangely quiet in its absence, as if everything on it was waiting with bated breath for what would happen next. They didn’t have to wait long.Blows began to sound out from the canister, with each growing increasingly louder as whatever was trapped inside grew more desperate to be free. The bangs and crashes unnerved the Rahi; they were accustomed to the peaceful sounds of the island, and this strange object and whatever creature it contained had shattered that peace.Suddenly, a hand burst through the side of the canister. Crimson blood ran down its length, and its owner howled in pain. Flames began to escape from the canister, somehow in response to the creature inside. The nearby Rahi all fled, wanting nothing to do with this strange monster that could create fire in response to being injured. Even in their primitive minds, they had plans that didn’t involve being roasted alive because their curiosity got the better of them.Eventually, the creature worked its way out of its prison. It stood tall, its crimson and orange body covered in numerous wounds and of unmistakably masculine design. In its eyes was the rage of a savage animal intent on destroying anything and everything that crossed its path. Gripped tightly in its right hand was a blade seemingly composed of fire, the flames flickering in a way that made it seem like they craved for destruction. The being looked down at his sword, as if hearing the voice of his weapon and its cry for devastation. Slowly, the sword was pointed at the nearby forest. The trees themselves seemed to shy away from the spectacle, as if they knew what was about to happen and wished to somehow wished to escape their fate. Unfortunately, they had no chance for escape; a pillar of fire quickly shot out from the sword and began to consume everything that stood before the being of fire and destruction. And then the creature screamed. It screamed and screamed and screamed. It screamed out of rage, despair, frustration, loneliness, and finally as a challenge to the rest of the island. “Just try to destroy me as well,” its scream seemed to say. It had nothing save the impulse to destroy, the desire to burn.It was meant to be one of the saviors of the island, tasked with the duty of liberating the villagers from an oppressive dark force. Instead, it was a monster. The Toa of Fire had finally arrived. Heart Legacy Vakama watched as the once-beautiful city of Metru Nui vanished in the mist. He, along with the rest of the Toa Metru, had fulfilled their duty of protecting the Matoran, but he couldn’t help but regret that it was necessary to leave his home behind. Sure, there was a new island up above, but it just wouldn’t be the same. There would be no Turaga Dume to gently lead the Matoran, no Coliseum to gather at for sporting events, and no Toa Lhikan to protect the citizens from danger. It felt like only a short while ago that Vakama had watched the Toa and eventually Turaga that he had admired so much taking his last breath and passing away. At the time, Vakama had been distraught at the death of Lhikan, and he had tried his best to ignore those emotions and act as a leader should.Naturally, that had only led to more misfortune. However, that was in the past and a tale for another time. What mattered was that now, on one of the many airships, he finally had the chance to sit down and think properly. With Lhikan’s death and Turaga Dume’s decision to remain in Metru Nui, the Matoran would inevitable end up looking towards Vakama and his teammates for guidance and protection from the forces of Makuta. It just doesn’t feel right. Only a short while ago we were Matoran ourselves, and now we are expected to protect them.If put into this kind of situation a few weeks prior, Vakama would have likely wished that he was a Matoran again. Now, he felt a degree of acceptance towards what lay ahead. It was their duty, tasked to them by the Great Spirit. It had been the job of other before and it would the duty of yet more in the future, but for now it was their task. Their job. Their duty. * * * Six Turaga stood before the recently-awakened Matoran, their smiles outshined only by the expressions of childlike wonderment that covered the faces of the Matoran. It was a new world to them, and also the only world. They had no memories of the past, but that was alright. After all, they had six Turaga there to guide them through whatever hardships they might face.“This is the island of Mata Nui, named in honor of the Great Spirit,” Vakama declared to the Matoran. A few of the Matoran mouthed the words “Mata Nui”, as if the words themselves were a blessing of peace. Looking at the Matoran, Vakama felt a surge of pride for what had been accomplished, and a quiet determination to continue the work that he had begun.Thank you, Lhikan, for trusting us with upholding your legacy. We will keep the heart of Metru Nui safe, even if it is removed from its home; that I promise you. The Flute Music I sat inside my sparsely-decorated hut of leaves and twigs, my project of the last few weeks held gently within my hands. After all those failed attempts, all those late nights spent working on it and improving it, had finally culminated into something magnificent. In my hand rested a new kind of instrument, something I had decided to call the flute. Its design was comprehensible to only one such as myself who had spent countless weeks tinkering with said design. It was beautiful, but I cared not for its appearance. No, all that mattered was the sound. The sound, that mattered immensely. I wanted to try it out, but something stayed my hand. I wanted to be the only one present when it first sang. I wanted to be not only the creator of the first flute, but the first person to listen to its sweet melody. But where to play it? Since he wanted secrecy, the village was out of the question. The swamp was also a bad choice to how dangerous it was. So it had to be away from the Koro, perhaps even the Wahi.Kanae Bay might just work… After all, we Le-Matoran avoid water almost as much as Po-Matoran.With that, I exited the village. It was one of the few times I was glad to be relatively unknown, for none of the few people who knew me were out and about as I left. As much as I valued their companionship, I was preoccupied by my desire to try out my new instrument. But of course, that was only natural.I made my way to the shoreline, thankful once more for our aversion to water. A few seabirds flew overhead, but other than that there was no sign of life. It was there, on the deserted beach situated before a lush jungle, that I first played my flute. It was just as beautiful as I had hoped it to be. Its sweet melody rose gently into thee, caressing my ears with their loveliness. To me, it felt as if a whole new world had opened up before me, beckoning me to step forward and immerse myself in the music. I wasn’t sure if the sound would carry any great distance, but I imagined for a moment what the other Matoran would say when they heard it. Surely I would get the respect I deserved, now that I had wrought such an incredibly instrument. And then a Kewa bird dropped from the sky. I jumped back, startled by its sudden arrival. The Rahi looked at me with an expectant gaze, its eyes asking me something I could not decipher. I glanced down at my flute, the beginnings of an idea forming in my mind. Had it been summoned by my playing the flute? And if so, would I be able to replicate the task? Playing it once more, I waited to see if another would arrive. It didn’t take long. Within moments, an entire flock of Kewa had descended upon me, each somehow drawn by the melody I had played.Oh yes. A whole new world had indeed opened up before me.
