IC: Zelvin (Ta-Koro)

"I must confess I am at a loss currently. If we know where they're going, we might consider taking up a chase, but I feel like the fine collection of willing arms we've gathered here might just bring with them unwanted attention."

Zelvin grazed her chin thoughtfully.

"Hmm... the situation's delicate and there's little time. What does the Maru suggest?" she said with her head cocked up in his direction.

IC: Wryu

"Im not here to play games", Wryu hissed. She was just about form a fighting stance when a sharp pain exploded in her abdomen and chest like shrapnel and stopped her dead in her tracks. She let out a breath of exasperation, but seemed to be unable to breathe back in. The Toa of Fire fell to her knees and looked up with eyes full of helplessness. Her whole body ached as if the blood running through he veins was turning to acid.

"Help...", she pleaded.

OOC: Oh yeah, Mekana is in the hospital, what do ya know? If you want Wokiya to stumble into Mekana's room feel free. ;)

OOC: I was hoping you’d say that.

IC: Wokiya – Ta-Koro Hospital

The young Ga-Matoran gingerly stepped through the hallway, peering through the windows and around doors for occupants. As she walked, her large purse, now containing just her blank tablets and chisels, swung freely from her right shoulder. So far, Wokiya had only found one conscious occupant, and they were admitted to this hospital before the destruction of the Lavapool Inn. Wokiya made no mistake though: this hospital was packed, and its quiet and restful aura betrayed that truth.

Then, a voice cut through the calming silence.

“Hey...hey...hey...hey...can I borrow some money?”

Not thinking twice, Wokiya made a beeline for the source of the voice, grateful that she wouldn’t have to wake any of the patrons here. Though when she thought about it, their stories were bound to be interesting and a testimony is a testimony, no matter the mental state of the eyewitness.

As Wokiya got closer, she then learned that there were two voices in the room.

“Oh yeah? Well the root of all evil is gonna pay my hospital bill!” said the voice Wokiya had heard before.

“Ta-Koro instituted free healthcare not long ago,” replied the more measured voice of a second.

That was when Wokiya threw caution to the wind and walked into the entryway.

“He’s telling the truth,” Wokiya said to the one in the hospital bed. “I fear for what Jaller had to sacrifice for it, but for now you don’t need to worry about frugality. It’s on the house”

Wokiya deftly hid her expression of surprise under a look of sincere concern and helpfulness. She could’ve sworn that the voice came from a Matoran, but before her, resting on the bed was a Toa of Fire.

“My name is Wokiya,” the Ga-Matoran said to both of the Toa while raising her lightly bandaged arm, “The explosion got me too. May I come in? I’ve been looking for someone to talk to. Someone who may have seen more than I did”

IC: Mekana

Mekana's mouth was open in order to shout something else at Ophaim when a Wokiya introduced herself, Mekana's mouth remained open in an almost perfect 'O' for a moment or two.

"Uh...sure, that's fine. Come on in..." Mekana's eyebrow's frowned as she struggled with something internally. "Oh right...my name's Mekana...if I'm acting weird it's because of um...it's the drugs the doctors gave me." She looked slightly sheepish.

"So...you want to talk? That's cool with me...I mean there's only so much I can take from 'Mr. money is evil' over here..." She pointed at her fellow Toa accusingly.

Mimira climbed up the railing, leaped off of it, and kicked a pirate in the face, sending him backwards. "Like that?"

IC: Wokiya – Ta-Koro

The Ga-Matoran giggled. “Thanks, Mekana”

She walked in, eyeing both the Fire Toa and the male Toa that stood to the side.

“I presume you two have known each other for awhile?”

IC:

Angelus caught sight of Kino's hand stirring toward his and let her take it. The Toa of Fire stood and pushed his chair in with the back of his foot. Before he walked away from the table, he took the last few drinks of his glass of Bula juice - he'd only had a glass or two of whiskey, preferring to finish off the juice on a glass-by-glass basis. While they maneuvered clearly through the aisles and the Captain said his hearty goodbyes to the waiter who'd served them (he'd left the Vortixx a sizable enough tip; it was one of the things he'd learned really put a smile on people's faces since he'd integrated into civilized life) his fingers intertwined with Kino's and, after a couple seconds' deliberation, squeezed them briefly.

"I think I've had ice cream once with Tuara," he recalled, as he walked her away from the steakhouse and out closer to the markets. "Before then, the only desserts I'd ever had were fruity, so she broke me in easy with a banana split. I remember wondering how they made the stuff even exist without just melting. I mean...volcano and all."

"Believe me I don't even know myself. I'm still trying to figure it out."

Angel laughed, but his forehead had scrunched in thought, and his eyes were looking around the night sky as if the answer to how things stayed cold in the Koro of Fire was lurking somewhere between the stars.

IC: (Kino)

I tried to conceal the blush when Angel and I's fingers intertwined and he squeezed my hands. I lead Angel back through the alleys and through the paths, passing through the main market. It was it's usually hustle and bustle. As we moved through the throngs of mostly Matoran, and Toa. The Molten Turtle was a relative small parlor located on the northeastern end of the market and to be honest as much as I liked getting ice cream from there with all the stuff mixed in, the fact their ice cream didn't melt immediately kinda creeped me out. I'd tried not to think about it too much, worried I'd go insane contemplating how they made it work. I lead Angelus right up to the business, we were third in line and I pointed out the stuff for Angel. "Well there's your menu, there's all sorts of things they can mix into your dessert, also a few specials if you want to try them out. What are you thinking?" I smirked.

OOC: This preceded the whole Piraka attack about a day, so yeah our characters will catch up eventually just at different point in time.

For the first time, Angelus' eyes displayed clear uncertainty. They roved through toppings, candy, and different flavors of conspicuously unmelted dairy, growing wider and more concerned the more that they saw. He bit his lip and then thought, croaked out something unintelligible, and then bit his lip again. Finally he looked at Kino, clearly unsettled.

"I just...there were bananas. In the last ice cream. Fruit and stuff. I...is fruit good with most ice cream? Was that a special case? I'm...kinda lost." For the first time he sounded like the young jungle boy he had grown up as, instead of the dry-humored, stoic Captain of the Guard.

IC: Wokiya – Ta-Koro Hospital

Cake? Nope, not gonna beg before even asking my first bundle of questions, Wokiya thought, keeping herself from inquiring about food. It had been some time since she’d last eaten, and she had wondered how many of the cafes were affected by the village lockdown.

“I can definitely relate to the discounts, though mine were more likely given because of fear than friendship”

Wokiya shrugged and looked at Mekana with an understanding expression. She sauntered over to her from the doorway.

“I cannot imagine the utter Karzahni that you have gone through. But you look like you’re going well,” Wokiysa said, reaching over putting a hand on Mekana’s arm. I was hoping you would be able and willing to share your story and thoughts about what happened today. I work for the Mata Nui Daily, and I think the people of this island need to know the truth from citizens on top of whatever the government is bound to say to cover their butts

“But I must ask first: how are you feeling?”

IC: Mekana

"I'm a little...a little shaken up I suppose. The drugs are helping a lot on that account." Mekana laughed. "I certainly didn't expect as I was walking by the Lavapool Inn that it would just...explode like that, or fall on top of me..." Mekana looked at Wokiya with a worried expression, "You don't think I'll develop posttraumatic stress do you?"

IC: Wokiya – Ta-Koro Hospital

Wokiya had no idea, but she would not let herself convey that to Mekana.

“You’ll be fine because you’re a tough Toa of Fire who isn’t going to let some bored folks ruin your life,” Wokiya said with a steely, confident voice.

“So you said you were just passing by the inn when the explosion happened?” Wokiya asked, already taking notes and quotes down on her tablet, “Do you live here in Ta-Koro?”

Mekana had to admit she had a point. She was rather hardy.

"Yeah, I've lived here for a long while, pretty much as far back as memory serves...though I do make trips to elsewhere on the island, part of my job as a...seller of fine items." Sounded better than smuggler.

IC: Wokiya – Ta-Koro Hospital

The reporter gave a supporting smile.

“An entrepreneur? My brother used to be one of those. Made a lot of money for both of us, but did awful things – well, in my opinion – in return. We’re both safe and out of that life, and I hope the success of your ventures are don’t turn you morally astray. It’s frighteningly easy for that to happen.”

Wokiya continued, “You said you were just passing by the Inn. Did you see anything out of the ordinary? And how many guards do you remember being in that area?”

IC: Mekana

Mekana just smiled at the 'morally astray' stuff.

"Well, I don't recall how many guards there were...probably the usual amount. Though I do recall seeing a couple Skakdi that gave me the heebie-jeebies. Something about them gave me a bad vibe. And then there were explosions..." Mekana shivered.

IC (Korero)

Korero narrowed his eyes at the Toa of Magnetism's apparent sudden change of heart. It made no sense - he could tell the man wasn't a coward, but there was still no sign of the Skakdi...

...still no sign of the Skakdi.

Of course. That smoke ought to have flushed them out long ago by now, and yet there was still no sign of them. Jolek must have noticed something he hadn't.

Releasing the air currents pushing smoke back into the Lavapool, Korero Hiko-jumped over to a roof on the far side of the square (the closest to the way Jolek had gone). Catching a glimpse of the Toa disappearing down another alley, he followed.

Korero caught up with Jolek just as the latter found their quarries.

He approached as silently as he could, sending a light but discernible push of air to alert Jolek to his presence.

IC: ...Somebody's trying to sneak up on me--

A light gust of wind brushed against his back even as he half-turned.

Ah. The Toa of Air from earlier. Spookily quiet guy, it seemed. He inclined his head in acknowledgement.

Good, now this fight had much better odds.

"Hey." he muttered in a low tone somewhere just above the realm of a whisper. This was his patented "hunting voice", low and quiet, but distinct and clear enough to get a message across easily to a partner without much undue movement.

"So. Just around the corner." He muttered, jerking a thumb in the appropriate direction while still making sure to keep it behind the wall, not stick out past it. "How you wanna split it?"

IC: Elysi

"Zelvin, we should move," said the Toa of Lightning, her eyes flicking over to where their temporary compatriot, Jolek, had run off. Maybe he was looking for those once in the Lavapool, but Elysi didn't know. Still, it would be best to ensure that their targets did not escape. "They should be around here somewhere. I don't like standing still. Gives me the heebie-jeebies."

OOC: Slight bit of bunnying here, hope you don't mind

IC: Zelvin (Ta-Koro)

"Yes, I agree" Zelvin replied, and she and Elysi took of swiftly, though ever so silently, towards where Jolek had disappeared to.

After a short sequence of turning around corners, they found him, with the Maru next to him. Zelvin stalked up against the wall they were hiding behind, her mask activated to give her full orientation.

"So, what do we have?" she whispered.

IC: "Company." Jol muttered to Korero, just as the latter appeared to be about to speak.

The pair of intrepid young toa turned to see both Zelvin and Elysi moving into position behind them, having evidently noticed the change in location.

Taking a moment to smirk at the comical sight of everyone all in a line behind him, he quickly regained his serious demeanor because you know this was things about to happen.

"Everyone accounted for, now?" he asked under his breath. He then nodded in affirmative to Elysi's question. "If it isn't them, my eyes have stopped working. We were just about to figure out how we wanted to split them."

He lowered his volume a tad further, just to be on the safe side.

"We'll need to be quick about it. They're bound to split soon, don't think they'd bank on us staying there forever."

With their quarry a scant 150 or so feet away at best, time was of the essence. If they didn't move fast, the two Skakdi would. Especially since the group had so far stuck to them like white on rice.

And being caught by surprise'll blow -everything- to karz and back.

IC (Korero)

"I'll go in close," Korero said, lowering his voice as Jolek had. "Reckon I'll take the brown guy first. That weapon of his can do a karz of a lot of damage at range, but with this - " he tapped his mask " - I can close the distance before he gets a chance to fire."

He looked to Jolek.

"You're a Fa-Toa, right? See if you can hinder the blue one with your powers. Might not work for long, but you should at least be able to immobilise him.

"Which is where you two come in," he addressed Zelvin and Elysi. "Use your ranged capabilities. If the blue one's immobilised, you should be able to get a good few unavoidable shots out. Make sure you keep mobile, though - they're both heavily armed."

He gave them a quick humourous smirk.

"Oh, and I'd appreciate it if we can avoid any friendly fire."

IC: "Right, sounds like a plan." he said, nodding. Looking to Elysi and Zelvin, he found himself needing to make one thing clear.

"You two are going to have to be ready to go as soon as I tie him up," he said. "I don't know how much energy I have left, but it doesn't feel like a lot. Pretty soon here, I'll only be useful in close."

Better he swallow his pride and let them know. As soon as he ran out, likelihood pointed to the blue one being on one of them in an instant. If it was Jol, no biggie, he could throw down with anyone, but running the risk of putting the others in danger was a bad call.

Hadn't lost anyone in this yet, and he wasn't about to change that.

Draeverian vaguely heard a rather familiar voice. Groggily his mind seemed to be working it's way out of a haze as it loosely connected various thoughts together into one cohesive thought

What is this fool doing here.

Not even taking the energy to move DJ spoke up, though the pain his body felt was obvious in his voice

"Begone reaper, for you're nothing but a creeper. I shall thwart your plans to escort me to the land of the bland."

As soon as he finishes with the rhyme a slim smirk comes over DJ's face as he clutches the syringe tighter in his hand. Activating his control over sound he manipulated his voice so that only mariko would hear

"You need to take this object in my hand and hide it until later."

IC:

The Toa of sonics weakly stretched out his arm. Mariko intercepted his palm and felt the stained syringe touch the palm of his hand. A hiss escaped his mouth as the dark Toa drew in a sharp breath. A vicious anger flashed through him, some part of his being that had long ago forsaken the right to be called Toa reared its ugly head at the cold, evil his fingers were wrapped around.

"Where did you get this?" he asked Draeverian, sharply.

IC: Wokiya -- Ta-Koro Hospital

Wokiya's ears perked at the mention of Skakdi. She had no idea Skakdi might have been involved. Even though she had yet to hear any confirmed visual of Skakdi which would implicate them in the bombing, the inquiries that surrounded these often stereotyped beings would make this a hot story.

Suspicious looking Skakdi, Wokiya echoed, chiseling the tidbit onto her stone tablet, And usual amount of guards

While that was hardly a specific number, the point of the question was whether there were enough guards present for the average citizen to feel safe. Mekana's answer implied that there wasn't a noticeable shortage. Despite this, Wokiya felt the need to pry some more.

"Mekana, have you noticed any... thinning of the Guard in the last few months?"

"Thinning? Oh no, if anything I'd say they're getting thicker." Mekana's tone of voice seemed to indicate she was less than happy about it. "Akiri Jaller has been tightening security left and right, especially after that whole monorail incident..." Mekana looked up at the ceiling. "It's certainly has been getting difficult to get around the city unnoticed..." Mekana looked at Wokiya with widened eyes. "...not that I care or anything hahahaha..." Mekana glanced at Ophaim. "Ophaim you should let Wokiya try some of your cake!"

Zelvin and Elysi weren't the type to boast pointlessly and not back it up. He only had known them for about an hour or so, true, but first impressions were powerful things, and Jol trusted his on the two.
