IC: Jotham was at the base of the cliff now. A satisfied glint entered his green eyes as he again pushed himself to his feet, panting. The situation was hopeless, that much was obvious, but he had finally reached his goal. He could at least get away now, if nothing else...The deformed Toa was loping towards him with surprising speed. The Kane-Ra skidded to a halt, turned, and charged again. The Onu-Toa stood, unmoving, an arrow trained at Jotham's chest. The insectoid Toa stood off to the side, hissing menacingly. Calmly noting the exact positions of each, Jotham raised both hands, his right stretched forward, his left reaching back and touching the wall of rock.Energy coursed through Jotham's body as he absorbed the rock behind him, channeling it into four continuous blasts of stone, one aimed at each of his opponents. It was a powerful attack, and even if it did not connect, it would provide the distraction he needed. All the energy he needed was supplied by the enormous mass of stone behind him. That was a problem, in a way - channeling that much power took incredible effort; he wouldn't be able to keep in up for long. But a few seconds is all I need.

IC: LezoldBefore the rock could hit him, it fell to the ground for no apparent reason, skidding to a halt right before Lezold's feet as he used his Garai. Making fast work, he lowered the stone's gravity and tossed it right at Jotham, the projectile moving faster and falling at a slower pace than it should have, making it even deadlier upon impact and capable of shattering whatever barrier his foe could put up.A couple of seconds later, the arrow already loaded in Lezold's bow was shot, following right behind the rock thrown, proceeded by loading another arrow into his bow.

IC: SpyderThe Rahi-Toa hissed, and crystaline spikes suddenly shot out; forming a barrier in mid-air. The massives stone struck it with enough force to shatter both the stone itself and multiple spikes. A deafing crack! came when the stone had hit, stunning the Toa of Crystal for a few vital seconds.

IC: But Lezold's projectiles never reached the Toa of Stone. The moment the Onu-Toa released his Garai's power, Jotham removed his hand from the wall, cutting off the attack. He spread his arms wide, and the stone behind him cracked, a rapidly-widening fissure appearing in the stone a few feet above Jotham's head and spreading down to the ground. His previous attack, as his opponents now realized, had served a dual purpose, launching masses of stone at his opponents but also creating a hollow area, a cave of sorts, within the cliff. As the fissure in the rock widened enough for the Toa of Stone to enter, Jotham lowered his arms. His dagger flew into his hand; he spun it around with a flourish and returned it to its sheathe. He turned around and walked into the fissure even as the mass of rock Lezold had thrown flew towards him. Without looking, Jotham waved his hand, and the mass exploded into fragments, which flew in all directions. Jotham's figure disappeared into the darkness and the fissure rapidly closed behind him, Lezold's arrow clattering uselessly against the hard, cold stone. And then Jotham was gone.OOC: http://www.bzpower.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png Great fight, guys.

OOC: You realize this guy is a Toa o' Stone too...right? :evilgrin:IC-KuAnLo:KAL stopped next to the rock face, viewing where the Toa of Stone had entered. There was barely a crack there. KuAnLo didn't have as much control over stone as he used to...but he definitely knew how to do this. He raised a hand, staring hard at the rock, and smashed it, hard. The power he flowed into the stone in that hit caused cracks to widen, small slates of rock falling off. He heard a slight rumbling, and smiled. That Toa would have to be rather skilled to hold off any collapse inside whatever cave he was making for himself...And that would just be to get out alive.

OOC: Sure. I was expecting something like that, actually. Hence:IC: Jotham was unaware that the deformed Toa was a one of Stone, but he had taken no chances. As soon as he was inside the cliff, he began to move, forming a path in front of him and filling in the space behind him in a tunnel of sorts, a tunnel with no beginning or end. About five minutes in, he decided it would be safe to rest. He expanded the area he was in to create a large cavern, creating a few ventilation shafts running far off into the distance, far beyond the detection of his enemies. This task done, Jotham sat. Suddenly realizing how tired he was, he lay down, rapidly drifting off to sleep.

OOC: We'll assume he's dead and leave Jotham for now.IC: LezoldThe Toa of earth wasn't exactly happy despite their 'victory'. They had been unable to take down a single man with four people so easily, ignoring the interruptions: the numbers and odds were in their favor. The job should have been quick. His mood rather foul that it had taken him this much effort with the possibility of Jotham's escape possibly having succeeded, Lezold returned to actual land with soft earthy soil, beginning to absorb it to replenish his energy, feeling his strength return to him and his headache vanishing. The thought nagged at him like an itch.Calm down...even if he is alive, he won't be doing much with those wounds. Too late to chase him now anyways. With a sigh, the follower of Makuta signaled for his allies to regroup on him so he could explain the next course of action.

IC: LezoldLezold gave Zenix a peculiar look, his eyes losing their usual malice only to be replaced by curiosity. Zenix had thought of the exact same thing he was planning, maybe even having the same place in mind...how odd. Still, the two had worked together for a long time, knowing how each other thought. They made a good team. For now."Yes, that would be desireable. A place to hide, to rest, to plan...a temporary home you could say but more of a headquarters." he began, his voice remaining smooth despite his weariness."I believe an isolated cave in the Tiro Canyon in Po-Wahi would prove best at the moment."Lezold gave KuAnLo a look saying he'd be essential in the making of this cave.

IC: LezoldLezold continued to sit there, absorbing earth continuously without stopping as he seemed to be lost in thought, his distant eyes looking at his own hand. Truthfully, the Onu-Toa was just weary, resting his mind for a moment. His yellow eyes took focus as he pushed himself off the ground, patting the dust and dirt off his clothing."Well then, is everyone ready or have anything to say?"

IC-KuAnLo:"Works for me," the deformed Toa of Stone rasped out. "I'll do my best." Then he twitched, a small movement, having a battle within his mind."Look at all of you," he said, angrily, his voice changing slightly to how it used to be. "Formerly proud Toa, formerly those who would do good to others...and now you're planning how to help Makuta." Kal spat in disgust. "You can't believe how much I hate all of you."KuAnLo shook his head, looking back up at the others after a moment. "Terribly sorry," he said. "He does that when I get hungry."

IC:Many rooms away, a door opened and broke the calm meditation of the darkness. The darkness extended its presence to this doorway and watched as a set of large, thick gates were opened, and a file of beings was led past them. The silhouettes of the six beings being escorted inside were etched clearly across the ground in dim ghost light; as shadows, the beings looked like paper-thin giants clawing at the stone of the floor as they trod on. But the ones from who cast such shadows were in reality short, feeble things that walked along far more slowly than the spiny creatures to either side or the tall, proud figure taking the rear of the procession. The mind of the darkness, centered at the heart of its network of caves and passages, watched these goings-on at the fringe of its vision. It bore the smug interest of a hunter who already knows that the game is up and the prey as good as dead. The darkness looked on as the tall silhouette took the front of the column, and led the shuffling short beings and their spiny counterparts through numerous passages, under the grim arches of ancient corridors that were too high to be seen in the dim light. The leader of the group directed the others to make various turns; he was the only one who could have possibly navigated the darkness's maze with such comfort. The parade of beings eventually reached a cathedral-like room with bloodred lightstones regularly placed along the rough walls, and a vaulted roof supported by spidery pillars. In the middle of the room were six shallow pools, round, and carved into the floor to be a few feet deep. They were full with water that rippled and gleamed like onyx in the red light. The spiny beasts each prodded one of the smaller beings to stand before their own pool. A few of them looked apprehensively or curiously down at the small pools; others kept their eyes up, refusing to look down. In satisfaction the darkness rolled and flexed. It would enjoy what happened next.

IC: The first thing that alerted Jotham to the fact that he was awake was the pain. Yes indeed, pain, and a great deal of it too - every muscle was sore (even muscles he didn't know he had), there was an intense, sharp pain in his side, and every movement seemed to set his chest on fire.Jotham opened his eyes - or tried to; they didn't seem to be working properly. He tried again to the same effect, for indeed, his eyes were already open; there was simply no light for them to see by. Realizing this, he raised an arm, grunting as he did so, and opened the pocket of air within the cliff to the world above. The sudden flood of light blinded him temporarily. Stupid mistake.

IC:The darkness' voice projected into the cathedral of a room like liquid thunder seeping from every crack in the rock. "Welcome to my home, Turaga," it said in a sharp murmur that resonated in the blackness. The elders felt the air around them grow heavier and colder, and some less acclimated to such climates shivered. "I hope you found your journeys pleasant."As though suddenly animated by the voice of the darkness, the black pools in the floor rippled animatedly, as though something had been excitedly roused at the words. The red lightstones' luminance made the disturbed surfaces of the water look like chortling devils. Soft splashes from the pool and soft chuckling from the darkness echoed through the room. Willfully, the Turaga remained silent, though now others of them shivered, and not for the cold."Well?" the darkness hissed. "It is rude to ignore the questions of your host. Speak.""We will answer none of your questions, Makuta," an ancient voice interjected, cutting through the cold darkness like a hot knife. "Whatever is in that pools shall not withdraw the information you seek from us.""Vakama," the darkness rasped, almost smiling. "I looked forward to your presence at this gathering the most. It has been too long since your foolishness gave me mirth. You think I have taken you here to draw information from you? No. Interrogation would bear no fruit, for my spies are omnipresent. I already know all that you do, and more."One of the other Turaga grimly grinned to himself. "I see you smile, Nuju," the darkness growled. "You are overly satisfied, bird-speaker, with that which you thought was subtlety. I need not reach into your guarded mind to ply out what rests there, for the Second Great Prophecy is near to my quickening grasp. There are other records, and other ways to take the information out of you than by sheer force...""Enough of your threats, Makuta," a female voice spoke up, "If you have not summoned us to interrogate us, then why are we now here?""You feared an interrogation, and yet now I seem the one being interrogated," the darkness chuckled. "In time, Nokama, your questions shall be answered. In very short time. But first I must extend an invitation to you, my guests.""Invitation?" another voice asked, "What invitation-request is this, dark-evil?""The invitation to share with me certain information, Matau... I have no need of it, but it would satisfy me if you would give it voluntarily. I seek the location of the Chronicler."There was a silence. None of the Turaga spoke until Vakama broke the weighty quiet softly and clearly. "He'll never be yours. He's dead."The silence ensued as the darkness roiled to itself, deep in speculation. The elders waited. Some turned their shocked faces at Vakama, imploring him to explain. He made no move to do so. The only noise was the lapping of the eerie pools against the sides of their holes. The lone Toa in the room stood to one side, his sleek and motionless form lit from one side by the bloody glow of a lightstone. Though he bore no expression, the darkness could sense the mind of Heuani whirring at Vakama's pronouncement.Suddenly, as commanded by an invisible will, one of the spiny guards of the Turaga walked forward, and lowered the end of its sharp staff into the rippling water in front of Vakama. There was a dull clank as something in the water collided with the blade, and a screech, barely muffled by the water, a scream that bit down to the bone, resonated in the room. Slowly, the Rahkshi drew its staff out again. Wrapped onto the end was a horrible creature. In the ruby light, its wet carapace gleamed and clacked. Sharp-ended appendages scraped against the metal of the staff, roving incessantly as though for something to puncture. The thing was eyeless, but its maw was filled with tiny incisors on their own appendages that looked sharp as needles. Water dripped off its sluglike body, which had coiled around the shaft of the staff of the spear. It was about half a foot long, and its soft-looking exoskeleton was a palish, translucent grey. The fiendish creature seemed to sense the presence of Vakama, for it immediately reached out for him, screeching some more. The Rahkshi pulled its staff away so that the thing could not make the jump. Vakama did not move, but suddenly his eyes took on a kind of urgency that bordered on fear."The Parakuka," the darkness smiled. "My newest children. They latch upon their hosts, feed upon the life forces and minds of those larger than themselves... Once attached, I assure you that the Parakuka will not go away. I would like to extend my invitation once again. Share with me the whereabouts of the Chronicler, to save me the trouble of searching for them myself."Vakama kept his cool remarkably well in the face of the still-writhing Parakuka. "He's dead. You will be searching forever if you hope to find him alive.""Stubborn as always. It is unfortunate that you did not accept my invitation. Anyone else?"None of the other Turaga spoke."How impolite," the darkness sneered. "It makes no difference."The Rahkshi with the slug flicked its staff, sending the Parakuka back into the dark water, where continued to thrash about and seek the flesh of its prey. As one, the six guards then shoved their respective Turaga into the pools below. There was a chorus of pained screams, and the black water writhed and foamed as each Turaga was attacked by its Parakuka. The Rahkshi stood over the holes, and slashed away any attempts to escape the pools. The Turaga were trapped with the foul slugs. Each, when they had fallen into the water, felt a horrible fiery pain at the base of their skulls as the Parakuka pounced. The slugs sank each and every one of their needlelike teeth into the flesh at the same time, far too deep, hitting the nerves straight on. The teeth were barbed; the Turaga who tried to rip away their slugs would only make the pain worse, feel the grating of sharp tooth on bare nerve, wince as lacerated flesh was pulled vainly. They groaned and cried and made sounds they hadn't believed possible, so intense was the agony of these foul creatures sinking mandibles farther and farther into their bodies. But they did not struggle for long, for the Parakuka soon numbed them - the slugs' viscous saliva anesthetized their wounds, and quickly knocked the Turaga out. As each elder fell, the Rahkshi bent down into the black pools and picked them up, taking the wet and limp Turaga from the ruby-lit chamber. The Parakuka, still latched onto the back of their victims' necks, had calmed, and began to slide the rest of their bodies into alignment with the spines of the their new hosts. The other appendages were slowly inserted into the Turaga's backs beneath the carapaces of the Parakuka. Only the Toa of Shadow remained."Heuani," the darkness called, snapping the Toa of Shadow from his reverie. His face and body had been impassive while the Turaga had been attacked; he had neither flinched nor grimaced as he watched the village leaders struggle against the repulsive creatures, heard the electric screams of their nerves being punctured. Instead, Heuani seemed to have drifted to other thoughts; he now watched the black water lap into stillness. But the words of his master brought him back."Forces are massing outside the Nui-Rama hive," the darkness continued. "We must prepare ourselves to discourage further boldness.""Will I command, master?" Heuani asked. "Will I fight?""Yes," the darkness said pensively. "I believe it is time that you are revealed to those who think themselves my enemies." Heuani nodded, and as he too walked from the room, his handsome face smiled eagerly. "Wait," the darkness said, stopping Heuani in his tracks. "You must take the Turaga with you. Place them in the hive. They will be asleep for only two days time. Be sure they are recaptured before then."The Toa of Shadow looked slightly bemused, but he replied affirmatively to the intangible presence in the room. "Yes, master. It is as you wish.""You have not yet intensified the defenses of the Vault, Heuani."Once more, Heuani was stopped in his tracks. His face was as smooth as ever, but his body, caught in mid-stride, had tensed. "Master, I-""Give me no excuses," the darkness hissed. "You are lucky today, Heuani, for I need a lieutenant at the hive immediately. Your error will be addressed upon your return. Now go."Without another word, Heuani exited, and made preparations for his departure. The darkness retracted its mind from the cathedral-like chamber, returning to its meditations. They had said the Chronicler was dead, but the darkness was not convinced. Nevertheless, it took some comfort in the knowledge that, even with the Vault still as vulnerable as it had been before, the darkness might be able to catch the fool at his old game; if it had been robbed once while unawares, the darkness could not be robbed again if it was diligent. It would be diligent.Makuta would be ready this time.

IC: Mataka awoke in the forest around the temple with a yell. He felt an incredible pain in the back of his neck as the parasite shifted uncomfortably. Only yesterday, he had woken up in a very similar situation, to find that a slug was feeding on his neck. He had tried to throw it off, but it was stuck fast. He had tried to bash it off with his club, but he had been unable to take a swing at the creature. It was inside his mind, and it would not let him harm it. He had mustered his feeble will to fight off its mental influence, but once again he failed miserably. That was when the Parakuka began speaking to him. It whispered into his mind of the darkness and the water, or slithering in the mud, hungry for prey. It told him of power, and the joy of finding it. It had made him feel so good, so alive, so strong that he had welcomed it into his body. When the high, finally ended, however, he had been exhausted and fallen into a deep sleep. Now, he had woken again to find the Parakuka in his body and mind. The ecstacy of its activation was missing, but neither was it a great drain as he had felt after the effects wore off. In his mind, he could still feel its hunger and its drive to feed, but it too was sleepy and tired from its exertions the day before, so the sensations in his mind were weak. They told him to move, to go out and find nourishment and power. The deranged Skakdi saw nothing wrong with these goals, and ran madly into the forest, heading south towards the land of air. There, the forest was filled with many rahi and plants that he could fulfill his desires and those of the parasite. Maybe they would also talk to him. Who knew?OOC: Mataka to Le-wahi

IC: He sat up and, when he had regained his sight, began stretching, attempting to expedite the recovery of his aching limbs. Every muscle in his body screamed in protest. Should’ve done this when I got here. Stupid mistake number two. When he had finished, he sat again and fixed himself a small breakfast of dried Mahi meat and water from his canteen. Not the most appetizing of meals – Nothing like a stack of pancakes, some bacon, a tall glass of orange juice, maybe some French toast and-He shook his head violently. No good thinking about that now. Stupid mistake number three. He finished his breakfast and stood, looking up the stone wall to the opening above, planning a path of ascent – not that he really needed to. He raised his right arm and grabbed a small handhold, pulling himself up. All was fine until he put weight on his left arm – a searing pain flared through his side, and he gasped, falling to the floor. Stupid mistake number four.Wincing, he stood, drawing a circle in the air with his finger. A circular section of rock broke away from the floor, and Jotham stepped onto it, willing it to carry him upwards. He found himself at the edge of a forest, the slopes of the Mangai rising up behind him. He looked around. He seemed to be near the Le-Wahi border. Le-Koro would be the place to go, in that case.He took a step toward the trees, pain again stabbing at his side. Can’t make it all the way like this... He formed a sharp disc of rock and sent it flying at a tree branch, which fell to the ground at his feet. In the same way he cut the branch several more times until he had a crude walking stick. This’ll have to do.OOC: Jotham to Le-Wahi.

IC:"I have aided you this far, I'm surely not stopping now, this close to the end." Agni added. He let out a deep breath, glad that Valria had managed to calm herself down. But he himself was not calm. Some part of him, deep inside, was ablaze with anger. And it was all directed at Telric. He was responsible for what Valria had gone through, what Alrin had gone through. It was time to end his criminal career.

IC: Valria took a few more deep breaths to steady herself. She need to collect her thoughts, she wrapped the cloak around her and check her weapons, the crossbow and the blade that Mef had given her. It was time to get going she knew exactly where Telric was hiding."We're going to the Kumu Islets, out in the forest Telric managed to make this little villa. If my memory serves me right, I should be able to lead us there." Valria said. Her dark green eyes looking around the group. It was best that their group get moving. It was time she wrapped this up, it seemed Alrin to close this chapter in his life. She wiped whatever tears remained from her mask."Well if that's it, I think we should get going Agni." Valria said to him, as he seemed to be lost in thought for a few moments. She couldn't thank the Toa of fire enough for what he did for her. Sure it was painful to remember, but it wasn't preferable to forget it all. Not if this monster was still roaming free.

OOC: Holy cow I totally didn't expect this to move forward again...sorry if that sounds mean ;^^ It's just been a long time.IC:Agni nodded. There was nothing more to do here. They had defeated Vester and his thugs, he would leave a note with the nearest guard outpost to collect the bodies and the unconscious and throw the latter into cells. One thought that gave him comfort was that they had found Alrin and the other survivor from her former team. It meant there was something for Valria to come back to, if she should chose to do so.The Toa of fire sheathed his blades. "Let's go. I've had enough of this place."OOC: Agni and co. to Kumu Islets?

IC: (Valria)Valria nodded there was nothing left to say, maybe she would travel back her after they finished Telric. While it was a place that was tainted with blood, blood could be washed away. She checked herself over, with her element back she was more of a threat, however her control over it in the previous fight seemed to be wavering, so she would have to be careful. She followed Agni out Kini-Nui. Now was the time to bring the fight to Telric and prevent him from causing anymore suffering. She nodded one more time to Agni before they left.OOC: I apologize for taking so long to reply, I have been rather busy. We'll finally be able to wrap this up and this quest will be over. IC: (Kehua)Kehua was lost. Not lost in the sense of not knowing where he was. That he knew. What he did not know was how he was going to leave this place. He stood at the foot of steps leading up to the Kaita Suva. Before him, all that he could see was a thick wall of jungle. The large Toa considered his options. He knew he was not alone on the Island. His bretheren were with him, but scattered. They had to be, otherwise they would have been with him.He frowned slightly at this reoccuring pattern of having to find the rest of the team everytime they were brought to another place. But he knew why they were here at least. The corruption could be felt all around him. Something evil was lurking on this Island. Perhaps it was the one they had been chasing all their lives...or maybe it was just another servant of darkness blocking the path to their ultimate goal. He knew they would find out eventually. Of course, they would need to unite first. He turned around, the chains of his meteor-hammers rattling softly as he did, and studied the temple rising up behind him. It was impressive. And significant in some way; he could feel it. And it was enough of a landmark to attract attention. He walked over to the steps and sat down on the first, the balls of his weapon dropping onto the grass next to his feet as he did. He would wait here. Either until his bretheren found him, or something else did. Preferably something friendly.OOC: Kehua open for interaction.

IC:Kehua was bored. He had sat on the stairs to the great temple for over two hours, not even moving, as if he was just as much made from stone as the great temple rising up behind him. But today, the mighty Toa's patience was short. He had to do something, move, something to make the wait for his bretheren easier. There was only one activity that Kehua could think of right now. He slowly stood up, rising to his full height, and slid the wrapped chain holding the two Meteor-hammers on his back from his shoulders. The massive iron-spheres fell to the ground with, leaving indents in the grass where they hit. With a simple movement, Kehua joined the ends of the two chains together. The links rang softly against one another as the chain dangled in his hand. Bending slightly forward, Kehua took one part of the chain into his right, lifting the meteor off the ground. With the other he did the same, but left more of the chain to dangle freely. With his left, he began to swing the first hammer back and forth, until it gained enough momentum to twirl in an ellipses. He sped up the movement, until the air began to becamoe audible as the hammer flew. He began to move his wrist as he let it fly, changing the angle. This was his basic defense-technique, using one of the hammers to create a shield with the chain. It was excellent to block a stabbing opponent. The weapon would become entangled in the chain and the huge momentum would cause the metal-sphere to wind itself around, until it either hit the weapon or its wielder with a shattering impact.Such Kehau began to train at the foot of the Kini-Nui, not realizing that he was being watched.

IC:The large sphere at the end of the chain dropped heavily onto the grass ground next to Kehua's feet, leaving a noticeable indent. He sat down on a rotting tree in the small forest-clearing, waiting for his heartrate to slow down again after another intensive training session. But the large Toa found that all these days of waiting and working out had little to no effect. He was already at his physical best with the meteor-hammers. And slowly but surely, the optimism that his bretheren would find him quickly waivered.Probably they had been more scattered then he had initially thought. Karzhani, he didn't even know how large the island really was. But at least, that was something he could find out on his own. Yes. Waiting here, living of small Rahi and sleeping in a ditch was not going to get the team back together. He would have to look for them. And to do that, he nedded to know more about the island. wrapping the chains over his shoulder, Kehua began to walk, in a rough eastern direction. Maybe, he would get lucky. The shadow that had watched him silently for the past few days began to follow. Here in the forest, it had not the slightest bit of trouble slipping from one shady spot to the next.OOC: Kehua to Ga-Wahi.

OOC: Tupua, Taipo, Tosp and Kythera from Onu-WahiIC(Tosp): They had been walking in the tunnel for a while when Tosp felt a breeze. "We're getting close." Tosp announced to the group. It was obvious enough already. The tunnel was sloping upwards at gentle angle, but enough for anyone to notice.

IC:Soon after, the three Toa and Vortixx stepped out of the end of the tunnel, the mouth of the cave opening into a large clearing in the middle of a lush jungle. In the distance, Tupua could see spires rising, six pillars of stone, visible above the treetops. "Is that the temple?" Taipo asked Tosp and Kythera.

IC(Tosp): Tosp resisted the urge to take off running to the temple and merely responded: "Yes, that should be it." Kythera looked at the group with a smile that looked like trouble. She took off into a run without warning. "Beat 'cha there!" she shouted.
