IC Kaiba:

Information streaming to his processors from his sensory fins, Kaiba noted that the Hero had either tracked his movements, or had made a particularly good guess.

A slight application of force to the ground took him from the ground to the roof tops, and he took a 90 degree turn to the right, trying to break sight.

IC: Evangeline Weaver - Makuhero City.

"Urgh, slag!" She cursed, punting her cuffs at the nearest wall in frustration. The vigilante was fast, way faster than she was. By the time she made her way up to roof level, he'd be long gone.

Still scowling, she picked up the cuffs, and started back towards Hero Factory.

IC: Skylor Sparrowhawk - Makuhero City

I can feel myself getting annoyed now. I just came out to get a bite to eat, have a walk around and go back. But no. I just had to spot that thug, and follow him...why? I can tell you, dear reader, I didn't follow him out of duty or anything like that. What was it, then? S'ppose I followed him out of some sense of intrigue. I had nothing better to do. And look where that got me.

I'm inexperienced with this sorta thing, to be fair to meself. Jobs I've done in the past - raids, patrols, even missions in some of the City's dodgier areas - have always given me a bit of flexibility when it comes to what my boss would call "reckless behaivior" (even if I do get shouted at afterwards about it). But this sorta thing requires...responsibility, thinkin' about things beforehand, persuadin'  people. Not my strong points.

"I'm under orders to patrol the streets," I lie, "Given that instruction, what would you do if you saw two people, holdin' sharp things, chattin' to each other 'bout secret...secrets?" I ask. I know I'd ignore my instructor, and only be bothered if it personally interested me, but that's besides the point.

IC: Skylor Sparrowhawk - Makuhero City

I stare at the one who spoke last. My teeth are clenched, eyes narrowed almost to the point of lookin' stupid. It's not the fact that they're prob'ly criminals, it's the fact that they're insultin'. But...I shouldn't take this further. I should go home. I think for a second of my orders to stay outta things, then dismiss that thought. No, I've gotta go back, really. A second has passed and I'm still starin' at the jet black miscreant. He's almost grinning. Not outwardly, maybe, but I can feel it. I can also feel a stubborn, sullen irritation envelop me. My eyes widen as I recall the exact words these two ####s spat at me. But...I can't take them both. I s'ppose I shouldn't get into reckless situations. I really should leave them, no matter how bitter I feel. Tomorrow's another day, but today I'll walk away. They're really not worth it...they're really not--

--Oh, sod it!

I shoot forwards, instantly closing the gap between me and the son of a villain in fronta me as my taser is drawn and sparks fly. Thought don't factor much into it, but afterwards I remember thinking that whichever way this goes, I could only hope that I'd be around to have some explaining to do afterwards...

IC: Insurgent

The hero seemed to disappear for a second, before reappearing next to Core, with a taser in hand. Immediately, Insurgent drew Justicia, and fired one bullet aimed at her side. He didn't want to kill her, but he sure as heck wasn't going to let her attack his new ally.

IC: Evangeline Weaver - Makuhero City, Streets.

The boom of the firearm discharging echoed crisp and clear in the calm night air, and Eva almost tripped over herself as she spun around to start running in the direction it had come from. Finally, some action!

IC: Saracen Rune - Makuhero City, Apartment.

He too heard the gunshot, through the open window of his decrepit apartment. But he made no move to get up, go after it. "Not my mission," he mumbled. Whatever was happening, it was someone else's problem.

IC: Anamnesis - Makuhero City, Penthouse.

Anamnesis frowned at the grainy images on the monitor before him, puzzled by the hero's erratic behaviour. The camera was old and faulty, the image flickering sporadically every now and again, but it was enough for him to see what was going on, even if he couldn't hear it.

He didn't recognise this particular individual from the personal files he'd downloaded before fleeing the factory, so she'd probably been made shortly before, or sometime after, Hero Factory's destruction. Perhaps this one was simply poorly trained, or the new assembly tower wasn't up to scratch. Either way, this was turning out to be quite an interesting night.

IC: Sylver and Beemer

As the pair reached the Hero Factory, Sylver looked at the live-video feed from the camera. "Um, Beemer, you might want to see this." Jax turned to see what she so cliche-edly mentioned. He saw the two personages he had seen earlier brawling like there was no tomorrow.

"Head to the Factory." he said. "I'll go take care of this... I hope." He flew to the top of a nearby building, and ran along the skyline back towards Insurgent and Core.

After a short wait, Sylver headed after him. What's a reporter without a story to tell, anyways?

GM IC: ??? - Eclipse Station.

The being walked the busy streets of the third tier, taking in the sights. Although he thrived on anonymity, he took no real risks in venturing out into the streets of his own home. His appearance was so generic that it rarely drew attention, and the few that did recognise him knew better than to approach him in the streets.

He was invisible in plain sight, just as the station itself was, in many ways.

OOC: New location for you all!

A festering black blot on Hero Factory’s record, Eclipse Station has spelled the end for many manhunts and pursuits over the decades. The moon-sized installation serves as both a spaceport and trading hub for beings from across the galaxy, with integrated FTL drives that allow it to jump periodically from system to system, usually only every few weeks.

The entire station is privately owned, with all of its licences and other legal obligations kept up to date, and its own laws and peacekeepers. This means that, though all beings are allowed to enter the station, Hero Factory and other external agencies have no authority or influence. As such, villains and criminals from other areas of the galaxy are able to roam free on the station, without fear of persecution or arrest.

The station is divided into four layers, known as Tiers, each of them serving a different purpose. The entire outer surface of the station is covered in docking ports and landing bays, making up the first Tier. Below that lies a network of interconnected warehouses, storage bays, holding cells, and display areas for commerce and trade goods of all kinds. It is here, the second Tier, that most of the actual business is conducted, and goods exchanged.

The third Tier lies deeper within the planet, and is home to hotels, bars, libraries, cinemas, and other places specialising in leisure and entertainment. It is here that most of the station’s visitors reside and socialise during their stay, and after the Mechna Incident, many of the planet’s shadier inhabitants migrated here. Tier 3 is also home to the headquarters of the security forces, as well as the courthouse.

Utterly inaccessible to the general populace is the fabled Tier 4. It is said to be the home of the station’s elusive owner, and presumably houses the station’s integral systems such as FTL engine and communications array.

IC: Zib - Hero Factory

Things were less than optimal for Mission Control. They didn't have enough monitors up yet, so it was frustrating to try and get any work done around there. Zib was sipping from his Hero Factory mug- miraculously undamaged from Hero Factory's destruction- as he flicked through some messages.

Ah. One of the training facilities had opened up- since they hadn't yet been able to rebuild their own facilities, Hero Factory had been renting out appropriate training areas around the city. It was limited, and not as good as their old training facilities, but it was better than nothing, especially with the new lot of rookies that needed the experience. He checked a list, and found that a Hero named Skylor Sparrowhawk had been waiting a while for one. Without thinking much, he contacted her, accidentally hitting "video call" rather than just "audio call". Confound the setup of the new systems. But, hopefully, he wasn't interrupting something private, like writing in a diary or filling out bank information-

He was just in time to see her attack.

He was happy he'd sat down his mug, since if he had been drinking from it he was sure he would have spat it everywhere.

It wouldn't do any good to jump to conclusions. He quickly backtracked through the recording of her fight, hand already reaching to call for backup- and saw she'd just started the fight herself.

"Sparrowhawk," he said sharply. "Stand down, now. Apologise to the civilian you assaulted and head back to Hero Factory immediately."

At the sound of a gunshot, he quickly made another call over the Hero Comms, accompanied by a ping to Sparrowhawk's location. "If there's anyone near this location, I need backup sent there immediately to break up a fight and bring Sparrowhawk back to Hero Factory."

OOC: Hopefully this GM post goes down better than the last one. You can't use your taser on random people, Skylor! >:u

IC: CORE

MAKUHERO CITY

As Skylor practically threw herself at him, time seemed to slow down.

In this scenario, there were only two options that Core would ever consider - the sword, or the shield.

Sword: Extremely effective. Would put the Hero down long enough for him to escape, possibly shut them down permanently. But if the Factory was connected to her feed, it might not matter to them that he had acted in self-defense - especially considering his previous actions. Insurgent's reaction to a kill, even in self-defense, could not be predicted.

Shield: Takes more time, leaves him open to more attack. The Hero would remain free for further attacks; Insurgent is already moving to strike them while their back is turned, would buy him time to get into a better position. Playing defense only against a Hero acting far more aggressive than they should might win him points with the law, but if the Factory were given time to get involved, he and Echo still might not walk away free...

...but they might find themselves a useful ally in Insurgent, as well as any others witnessing the scene.

All of this took him less than a second to process. His decision was made.

Releasing the handle of his sword, Core swung his left arm in front of him, shut his eyes, and activated the energy shield; it flared to life in front of him, its bright blue glow blinding to anyone unprepared for it. The Hero would find herself unable to penetrate it - and very likely unable to dodge Insurgent's shot.

IC: Beemer

Beemer saw the clash, which had evolved into a three-man melee. An announcement rang, telling him to get into that fight. A bright light shone from below, and Beemer flew down into the clash, seeking the source of the light. He immediately landed behind Core, and primed his poison stinger.

Since she couldn't fly, it took Eva slightly longer to get to the scene. She saw Beemer zip by overhead, and quickened her pace, cuffs still clutched in her hands.

She might've failed to apprehend the vigilante, but she was determined to do something useful tonight...

IC: Echo - And... Action!

Echo took advantage of the commotion to fully unsheathe his blade. Core and he had both seen the attack coming long before the Hero actually struck, and he was fully confident that his partner and the stranger could handle this rookie, but other Heroes were beginning to gather and this was beginning to look more and more like a full-scale brawl.

As one of the newcomers lunged at Core's back, Echo finally moved. A hard kick sent the ex-Hero hurtling into the air and a second to the nearby wall launched him towards the strange bee-guy trying to backstab his partner. With a single fluid motion, Echo brought his claymore down between the stinger attack and Core to deflect the blow and sent a telekinetic wave to try and throw the bee-Hero off balance.

OOC EDIT: missed Beemer's attack. =\

Totally have to redo this post now...

IC Kaiba Blader:

From above, a streak of silvery grey, knocked the stinger askew from it's intended target, imbedding itself into the street. A boomerang blade.

A voice boomed from the rooftop.

Finally having reached the site of the unfolding incident, she skidded to a stop just in time to hear Kaiba's shout. "Do yourself a favour, and stay out of this!" She yelled up at him. Although apprehending the vigilante would probably get her back in Mission Control's good books, she had her orders, and wasn't going to disregard them to pursue a little personal glory.

She raised her cuffs, but paused, unsure of who to target.

IC: Zib - Hero Factory

Zib held his head in his hands, took a moment, and said into the comms, "I said break up the fight, Beemer, not join it. Stand DOWN."

He looked up to see Weaver. "Oh, thank goodness. Weaver! I don't want anyone injured, especially not the civilians that Sparrowhawk decided to pick a fight with, but this fight has to be stopped, not added to."

He thought he saw another figure for a moment when he switched to Weaver's feed, but she had already looked away.

OOC: Thanke Dane~

IC: Skylor Sparrowhawk - Makuhero City

There's a blur o' motion as I rush forwards, then a blue flash of light as all my momentum's direction is reversed in a split second, jarring me to the bone. As I'm flung backwards by some sorta energy shield, I feel a sharp pain in my side as a bullet grazes me - but I haven't got a lotta time to think about that. Through my discomfort I s'ppose I have at least enough sense to use my backwards force to jump into flight, curving up and away from the fight as the wind rushes past my helmet, whose visor is now closed. Scannin' the street below me at a glance, I can see others join the fray - most of 'em look like heroes, but some others too. I also become aware of a annoyin' little voice natterin' in my helmet.

"Shut it , Zib." I hiss as I turn of my audio feed. I'm goin' quite fast right now, and even I can realise that I need all the concentration I can get me hands on. I alight on one of the buildings lining the street, clutching the gouge in my side. On the opposite buildin' stands a white-armoured warrior. "Whose side are you on?" I growl between heavy breaths, hand on blaster.

OOC: That's Kaiba...

The fightin' seems to subside into shoutin', which is a mild improvement. I realise that Zib can still hear me, even if I can't hear him...I look back up at the newcomer opposite me, but before they can answer, a hero on the street below me is shouting for me to stand down. She seems too stupid to notice that that's what I'm doing. But before I can give a witty response, she's firing a pair of cuffs at me. I'm so shocked by the action that I have barely enough time to draw my gun and blast them out of the air. After doin' this, I stare at the 'hero' for a second before shoutin down: "What the actual #### do you think you're doin'?"

Eva knew she wasn't really one to judge another hero for causing trouble, but with any luck, Sky's actions tonight would overshadow Eva's own, earlier.

I give a genuine chuckle. "Press charges? Right..." I shake my head. Nothing's gonna happen to me for this, not that I deserve anythin' - at the very worst I'll get a shoutin' at, maybe some kinda temporary ban from missions (which honestly wouldn't bother me much). This gal, however, might be in trouble for literally tryin' to handcuff a fellow hero. I know her type, in any case, seen 'em many a time. Too keen to follow orders, to the point that they're irrational. No independence, no initiative, and no conscience - some 'ave called me irresponsible, but at least I know when I'm in the wrong. And I know this isn't one o' those times.

I feel another jab of pain as I remember my injury. "Now, about that medi-pack..." I manage.

IC: Night Stalker

The prison cell Night Stalker occupied on Tantalus 5 wasn't particularly bad.  Not that it was good, as it was still, after all, a prison cell, but it was definitely more comfortable than some of the others he had occupied over the years.  That was probably given his cooperation in court.  For that cooperation he had been given a lighter sentence, and his desire to end his life of crime and start over as an honest citizen had kept him from behaving poorly.  He hoped that he would get an early parole, although he had yet to hear of anything along those lines for himself.  All in all, things could be much worse.

Night Stalker settled onto his bunk, still trying to come up with a new name for himself.  It was a reminder of his previous life, something he no longer wanted to remember.  Not to mention it wasn't very friendly, which is something he wanted to change.

IC: Nexus Zander - Eclipse Station, Tier 3.

"Ya know, I like this place way better than our old hangout," Nexus gulped down the last mouthful of his drink, before gesturing for the barkeep to come and give him a refill.

"I dunno, man. This station seems kinda... regimented. We never had to worry about getting arrested on Mechna." One of the other mercs replied, picking up another card and adding it to his hand.

"That's what I like about it, though," Nexus said, taking up a card of his own, "There's enough law in this place ta stop all of the rampant murder and mayhem, but we're still free to do what we love."

"I fold. I'm done," the woman to his left grumbled, lowering her cards.

"What about you, Nexus?" the first merc pressed.

"All in," Nexus grinned, pushing the last of his cash into the center of the table.

"Your funeral, big guy," The remaining four players at the table turned over their cards, smiles growing... only to vanish in a flash when Nexus revealed his own hand.

"I'd love to stick around and give you guys a chance to win your money back," Nexus scooped up his winnings, tossing a few bills towards the barkeep to pay for the drinks, "But I've got places to go." He whistled, calling Gleam back to his shoulder from her perch on the chandelier - a vantage point from which she'd been able to see all of the cards in the player's hands. "See ya later."

Maybe one day they'd figure out how he did it. But today wasn't that day.

"Do I look like a medic?" Eva snapped, gesturing towards herself. She didn't have a backpack, utility belt, or satchel, so it should've been obvious from a quick glance that she wasn't carrying any sort of medical equipment.

"As for you..." she glowered up at Kaiba, "...even if you think what you're doing is right, you can't spit in the face of Hero Factory, in their own city, and expect to get away with it. Sooner or later, HQ is going to grow tired of your shenanigans, and send a proper team after you. I'd suggest that you go find yourself a new planet to terrorise, before that happens."
