CommanderKumo
Hello friends, I am interested in making a custom mask, I am wondering how to go about it, the custom mask would be modeled after this prototype: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Kongu389/Rares/sd532248.jpg Tutorials exist for dying pieces but I am unsure about how to make a clear piece, can anyone here give me some help/tips? thanks for reading Quote My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClo2J14RKmVtcnoJTv7g6PA , Bionicle films coming soon! squidmaster
i dont think that you can make an official bionicle piece clear so if you wanted to make that you could use a regular mask to create a mold from silicone and then fill the mold with clear and red melted plastic also I think that mask isn't a prototype but instead a misprint but I may be wrong about that I have some experience with mold making so if you want I could try to make a similar mask and see how it turns out for you Edited August 26, 2017 by squidmaster Quote S Q U I D M A S T E R check out my imgur gallery for bionicle photography: https://mahatparthiban.imgur.com/all/

It is a misprint masquerading as a prototype the way I obtain abs is melting down lego bricks from a tub of bricks but be very careful the abs plastic fumes are deadly toxic and could harm you as for shaping its of but you can have trouble with bigger molds where the abs has solidified before completing the mold for this mask, I would recommend putting in a layer of clear abs then red another layer of clear and then just tilting the mold side to side to replicate the randomness of the red bit in the middle ill give it a go in a couple of days after I finish some schoolwork and post the pictures here so you can see how it looks. you could also ask flintsmith for tips he is probably more experienced in casting and mold making than I am and he makes some wonderful pieces. Flintsmith
I mostly did dying and lost-plastic metal casting. There was a guy though who made masks from resin. I think that would be the way to do this mask since you want clear. 2-part silicone to make the mold then 2-part casting resin. I bet this would work with resin instead of injection: http://www.instructables.com/id/Home-Plastic-Injection-Molding-with-an-Epoxy-Mold/ If you do intend to do the hot-plastic plan start with a google search "instructables.com injection molding". FYI, transparent LEGO pieces are made from polycarbonate, not ABS. Edited September 1, 2017 by Flintsmith Quote How I make metal masks. Trans-purple Kaukau Olda . My dad and i frequently use em if we work with sawdust, have to use angle grinders or are mixing cement while working on things on our home property. https://static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/2KFY4_AS01?$mdmain$ If you want to avoid heat then be careful but this style involves strong solvent chemicals.http://www.mp3car.com/forum/mp3car-technical-hardware/fabrication/107438-how-to-make-liquid-abs-plastic--------- note: necross hordika will will not be responsible for any injury, illness, , damage, expense, cost or other sum or other dangers or liabilities
