Silver Icon: Hunters of the Dark

~Chapter one~

The Dark Hunter's foot hit the pebble beach with a crack, as the pebbles he stood on were partially crushed by the strength of his step, in his hands he spun around a staff, in ways typically of a swift warrior.

 

However this Hunter was no swift warrior, he was a large brute, whose destiny had been torn away, once a Toa hero, he had been captured by Visorak spiders and mutated by Hordika venom into the huge beast he was now, previously Savage, as he had been named, was prone to sudden rages of anger as a result of the venom's effect on his mind, but using the staff to saty calm was but one of many ways in which he now controlled the anger within him.

 

He continued his stroll along the pebble beach, the light waves gently crashing onto the shore, swiping the staff diagnally in different directions, he splashed the water into momentary pieces of art, he looked out onto the horizon  and then back onto the coastline of Odina.

 

Odina was the home of the Dark Hunters and organisation in which he served, each member taking on tasks for payment, some tasks were simple, while others where near suicidal. His entry to the organisation was a result of the efforts of the group's Leader who had convinced him that his former Toa team had been jealous and had let him be captured by Visorak, welcoming him into the Dark Hunters with open arms, now that he had calming methods, he had a Toa mindset once more and thought it likely that the Leader had lied.

 

Still, he thought, the past had happened, he was a Dark Hunter now and he couldn't change that if he tried, the organisations attitude towards those who quit, where less than desirable. Finally he had reached the cave in the cliffs in which he had been asked to attend a mission briefing, taking one final look back, he entered.

~Chapter two~

Savage looked around the cave, seeing no indication that anyone was present, he continued onwards anyway, making sure his staff didn't collide with the walls of the cave, the cave became gradually darker, until the only method of navigation was to listen to where, dripping water was falling from stalactites to the ground, it was times like this that Savage wished he still had access to his mask's power, the power of night vision, the mask had been rendered powerless when he was transformed.

 

Following a trail of torches which he had found, he crossed an old bridge, the chasm below seemingly endless as any hint of a bottom was masked by darkness, the stone bridge gently rumbled as he crossed, though showed no signs of becoming damaged, reaching the end of the bridge, he entered a narrow corridor, the walls of which where partially covered in stone bricks.

 

Stepping down he had arrived in a huge circular room, two more Dark Hunters where present in the room, one sharpening his blades and the other reading a series of inscriptions on the brick wall, the first Hunter was preoccupied with sharpening his blades and only looked up for a moment at Savage before returning to his task, the other finished his examination of the room's architecture and greeted Savage.

 

"Hello there" said the Hunter, who then introduced himself as Dormant, he was much shorter than Savage but held a large white blade, Dormant himself was only a Krana mask, a strange object with it's own conscious, the Dark Hunters had built him a mechanical body, which allowed him luxuries such as movement and speech, the Krana was located in the chest of the construction, protected by a series of blades, which acted like prison bars.

 

"Do you know what this is about?" Savage asked his new acquaintance, Dormant thought for a moment before replying "A mission of importance it seems, judging by our location He doesn't want this one to become common knowledge". Savage thought to himself, about what kind of mission would be so important that the briefing be so secluded?

 

Savage started to walk towards the preoccupied Hunter but was stopped when he and Dormant noticed light originating from another passageway, stepping out of the passage was The Shadowed One, the leader of the Dark Hunters, flanked on either side by His bodyguard, Sentrahk and the Dark Hunter Minion, Savage and Dormant stood before The Shadowed One, the preoccupied Hunter soon joined them.

~Chapter three~

"Greetings" The Shadowed One told the hunters, he turned to Savage and Dormant "I can imagine some of you may be wondering why we have gathered here today", Savage spun his staff, making sure not to hit the other hunters "Yes" he quickly responded. The Shadowed One pointed to the other Hunter who had returned to sharpening his blades, "I will let Conspirer tell you his plan" Conspirer stood up gently placing his blades on his bandolier.

 

"Welcome Hunters, you two have been chosen for this task due to desirable features which you possess that will be incredibly useful for the operation" Savage turned to him "What operation?" Conspirer answered "The Silver Icon".

 

Savage asked "And what is this icon?" Conspirer spoke once more "My Matoran informant in Metru Nui has informed me of the existance of an object of great power, one that their leaders have hidden deep below the city, the Silver Icon", Savage thought to himself about the last time he visited Metru Nui, he had been a Toa then, the large scope of the city and it's  constant busyness had stayed with him all these years later.

 

The Shadowed One added "Our operative in the city has been compromised, so the task has fallen on to you three". Savage looked to Dormant and then back to Conspirer "How do you plan to infiltrate the city?" Conspirer told him "I will tell you later, for now we must begin our voyage, we have no time to waste"

 

Conspirer left the cave walking swiftly away, Savage was unsure but didn't speak of it, he and Dormant began to follow, The Shadowed One wished them good luck, making sure to do so in the most menacing way possible.
