Not that I'm thinking everyone will like the show if they watch the right episodes, but the episodes do vary in tone between somewhat silly episodes, very dramatic episodes, and very heartfelt slice-of-life episodes. I'm particularly fond of "Suited for Success", "Sisterhooves Social", and "Ponyville Confidential", all of which are of the slice-of-life variety. And while I love all the episodes, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone had a poor first impression of the show from watching sillier episodes like "The Ticket Master" or "Feeling Pinkie Keen". Even the two-episode pilot can leave a bad first impression, partly because it's in many respects a mash-up of the three main types of episode (the first half is basically slice-of-life and the second half is an adventure story, but both delve into silliness).
