Rarity
Well since the other one died, I made a new topic.Discuss various American Football things here.Who's sad about how Manning's time in Indy ended? Mister Electon
Well I'm more disappointed that he didn't go to Arizona... Quite honestly I want the 49ers to end up with no QB but with Garrard going to Miami it looks like thats Smiths only place. Mr. Fluffy
Oh no, my old topic died. Maybe because I've been absent from the site for over a month. :PBut yeah, I'm pretty sad about Manning's departure. The farewell speech he gave was very touching. The Colts gonna have a lot to building to do to revitalize their franchise.Looks like Tebow's going to the Jets now. Now what about Sanchez? Quote "By me... Count Bleck! Fighty
As an ardent Colts devotee, I did have some nostalgic remorse over Manning's departure, but I think he's past his prime anyways. I'm looking forward to them picking up Andrew Luck or possibly RG3; either one would be an excellent decision. Personally I'm leaning more towards Luck. Rarity
I personally think RG3 is gonna be better. :PWell, Sean Payton getting suspended for a whole year is stupid. :/But Parcells may become the interim coach! =D Quote >Not reading the first greentext story on BZP >2013 Be a cool kid and vote for mighty morphin'
Mister Electon
I'm kinda disappointed about Shawn Peyton. I liked him even if I'm a Steelers fan. Quote Xbox 360 Gamertag: PetaPanSpartanI play Halo Reach, Halo 3 and MW3 online.

WVUFan!
I'll just go right to my opinion on all the current issues.Peyton Manning- It was sad to see his time in Indy end, but it was probably the right thing for the Colts to do. Andrew Luck should bring something to help, but the rebuilding franchise probably won't do so good in the next few years.Tim Tebow- Trading him to the Jets was the stupidest decision ever. I am not a Tebow fan, but the Broncos will only have Peyton Manning for a few years, so why couldn't you use him to teach Tebow a few things, while still giving each a good amount of playing time. That way when Peyton's time is done, the Broncos will still have a solid QB. The Jets don't even really need him either. Two young QBs competing won't end too well.RG3- He's a great QB who can run and throw the ball if necessary, but I don't really see Washington as being the right fit for him, even though that's where he'll probably end up.BCS- I refuse to accept Alabama as "National Champs". You lost to LSU once, and then you say it didn't count and that you should play again and it'll count this time. That's something your annoying childhood friend would do. Oklahoma State actually won their conference, and beat 7 Top 25 teams. Not to mention the fact the entire game was pretty boring. There were so many field goals, we should start calling them Alabama Touchdowns. A playoff system is really needed. So many great teams have been denied National Championships in the past because they lost one game or weren't in the SEC.Petrino- For those who have heard the scandal against the Arkansas head coach, I'll just say that Arkansas is doomed next year if he actually gets fired.Saints Bounty Program- I think it was wrong to accuse Sean Payton for the whole thing. I'm not sure if he actually knew about it or not while it was going on. But there definitely needs to be some harsh penalty. These bounty programs are dangerous and unsportsmanlike.Heinz Ward- Being a Steelers fan, I'm really upset that he's leaving. The Steelers seem that there might be a rebuilding stage within a few years. The New Big East- The Big East cannot be taken seriously anymore. For a conference who's headquarters is in Rhode Island, it makes perfect sense to invite a team from California and Idaho. I believe the new teams they're gonna add by 2014 will be Boise State, Temple (next year to replace WVU), Memphis, San Diego State, Houston, SMU, and UCF. Only Boise State has actually had more than one year of recent success. The New Big 12- The Big 12 looks pretty good. The addition of WVU and TCU without a doubt add great football. Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, WVU, TCU, and Kansas State should all have great seasons. One of those could potentially be playing for the National Championship. But the one thing that's for certain, is that there's going to be a lot of competition for the Big 12 Title. The New SEC- Texas A&M won't do great. They were really mediocre this year, and they won't do much better playing LSU and Alabama. Missouri only got in because of the St. Louis TV market, which has a lot of money, not because of football success. Missouri hasn't been relevant at all since the Civil War.TLDR:Peyton Manning: Sad.Tebow: Why did you trade him?RG3- Will go to the Redskins, but my heart says he should be somewhere else.BCS- It sucks.Petrino- Might get fired.Saints- Sean Payton is not a crook.Ward: Sad.Big East- It sucks.Big 12- It's great.New SEC Teams- Meh.Lets Go Mountaineers! They'll probably go for Luck and then the Redskins will snap up RG3.I'm interested in seeing how long the Tebow-Sanchez dynamic works out. Neither of them are truly spectacular at passing, and the Jets kind of gave too much up for him.@WVUFan: Would you like to be the guy who has to pay Tim Tebow's salary along with Peyton Manning's?-Teezy Edited April 7, 2012 by Tyler Durden Quote SAY IT ONE MORE TIME TELL ME WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND

So many great teams have been denied National Championships in the past because they lost one game or weren't in the SEC.I definitely agree the BCS system's acronym could stand for something MUCH more accurate. Unfortunately, there are many obstacles for a playoff system as well. One is that, despite its controversy, the BCS system is still wildly popular, and is a cash cow for commercialism. Another issue is that a tourney bracket for football would either contain not enough teams or it would take far too long for practicality's sake. Let's say you choose an eight team tourney. That would make it perhaps a three week tourney if teams are to play one game a week. Not terribly long, but it definitely wouldn't do much better than the current system in its selection criteria. Now let's say you have a sixty-four team tourney. That would make a seven-week long tourney, which isn't very practical. Understand that football is a much more physical sport than basketball, and takes a toll on the players. You'd kill them if they played games like athletes in March Madness do.Although I do agree there could be something better. Edited April 13, 2012 by Mr. Fluffy Quote "By me... Count Bleck!
