  1. At the risk of sounding mildly sarcastic; Why not stop fussing over a the fictional gender dynamics of a toyline that ended five years ago? Why not have more awareness that this is a pointless powderkeg that would have exploded by now if we hadn't set it off so many times already?

Look, guys, I fail to see the fuss. This is what fan fiction is for. You see the EU Paracosmos up at the top of the forum, right?

I see your point, and it's understandable. For all intents and purposes, nothing we say or do is going to change much, seeing as Bionicle G1 has long been dead. But that doesn't mean we can't sit back and discuss the pros and cons of the storyline. :)

I think that upon further reflection, many of us have realized that the storyline we knew and loved had its shortcomings. I know that, at least for me, I was really pretty unaware of these sorts of things when I was really into Bionicle. I mean, when I first got into it I was like seven years old? When I was seven I couldn't really grasp the concept of gender equality, so it wasn't a real issue for me. But now, with a far better understanding of life, in general, I can grasp that concept and begin to apply it to experiences from my childhood. Now that I look back, I can clearly remember the lack of female characters in the Bionicle toy line, and I wish that more of the characters had been female. I think kids need to be taught from a young age that not all heroes are men. Heroism is not bound to a gender.

  2. Goodness, you read a topic one day, come back the next and find the craziest things. :P

Can we not all just agree that the gender ratio is screwed up, acknowledge that there should have been more female characters and not go into unnecessary details about a million other things, namely anatomical descriptions that don't even apply to bio-mechanical organisms?

I'd love to see Plantlife canonized as female, by the way. Whether its gender association was based on a typo or not, why not have a female tribe? Why not have more female tribes?

  3. As I understand it, they're members who have reached full proto energy, and/or done something highly commendable by the Staff.

Really all it is is just full proto. You may get your proto from doing something commendable, but some people get the proto for OBZPCship purely from buying Premier Membership. In reality, most people get OBZPCship from being helpful around the site, and, thus, getting the proto for it. :)

  4. Hm.... but it seems to take several days for that limit to kick in and cut posts?

Many times, at least in my experience, if you aren't going over the filesize limit, any cut-outs occur after you attempt to edit a post. Sometimes cutting the original text and then pasting it back in will fix your cutoff issues. :) Otherwise, you're probably hitting that filesize limit, and you may need to reduce the amount of characters in the post and/or remove any other items, like images, which take up filesize.

  5. According to this link, somewhere around 60 K (including spaces and line breaks).

Tried testing it out myself the old fashioned way a little while ago by inputting the number 1 over and over again without either. Got bored and gave up around 37,518.

Actually, the information I gave there was false! If you look down further in that thread, you'll see Black Six says:

The site doesn't care about how many words or characters you have, it cares about overall filesize. This includes all the characters you see, as well as all of the formatting and BBCode, and some things you can't see like line-breaks. So 60,000 characters with no formatting can take up the same amount of space as 30,000 characters with different fonts, links, banners, etc.

So, in a nutshell, there isn't a character limit on BZPower. However, each post has a filesize limit.

  6. The bar under your profile is called the proto bar. It's essentially a system that tells if someone has been helpful to the site, or has caused trouble. When you do a lot of helpful things, like reporting post violations, answering questions in the Q&A forum, etc., the staff may reward you with a proto boost. However, if you cause a lot of trouble, like breaking the rules excessively, ignoring staff members, discriminating against other members, you might get a proto reduction.

You can find out more about proto here in the Official Proto Energy Topic. :) For future reference, any questions you may have about proto energy are better posted there. ^_^

Hope you're BZPower experience has been exciting so far!

EDIT: Nearly forgot, but higher proto is good, while lower proto is bad. Basically, if the bar is filled to the right, then that member has positive proto energy (which is a good thing); while the opposite applies to the left side.

  7. The custom member titles you see around (such as mine) were rewards for winning contests or sending MOCs to conventions.

Just as a note, staff members occasionally will give out custom member titles as practical jokes or to members that they think deserve one. :P

You can also learn more about members titles in the Q&A Compendium. :)

  8. Generally planning topics aren't allowed, but if you go ahead and send the forum leader (-Windrider-) a PM about it, she might let it slide. :P If not, you can always create, say, one comic to post and get feedback on. All you need is some sort of valid content (comics, kits, etc.) in order to justify a topic.

  9. Unfortunately, I don't think previous versions of your posts would be accessible, even by the admins. Editing a post is essentially changing an entry in the BZPower database. :( (At least as far as I'm aware, though someone may correct me.)

  10. Hey, ToaMarkSurge! Welcome to BZPower! Hope you enjoy your time here. :)

    1. The spinning masks under your avatar are actually yearly masks that you receive for each year you've been on BZPower since you joined. For example, I have an Olmak (Brutahka's mask), which means I have been on BZPower for five years since I joined. 5year.gif

    2. You can go to your signature in "My Settings" and add the images through the text editor there. To add images, you simply click the button above your text box that looks like a tree (it's under the smiley face and text colour). Then you add the link to your image, and it will automatically embed it for you. Alternatively, you can manually add images by using this BBCode:

    [img="Insert Link Here"][/img]

EDIT: Also, you can find some really helpful information in the Q&A Compendium. The answer to your first question can actually be found right here.

  11. Using the link you provided me with, I right clicked the image, then viewed its properties (depending on the browser this option may or not be available). In the properties, it provided me with the deep link. Here is the deep link of the image you linked to:

Here are a couple of photos that will hopefully help:

  12. Yeah, the problem you're having is based on the fact that the image isn't deep linked. Deep linking is when you provide a URL for the image, you are linking exclusively to the image, and not to the rest of the website the image is hosted on. As far as I know, there isn't any way to deep link with Google Drive, so your best bet is to upload the image onto an image hosting website like flickr, brickshelf or majhost, just to name a few, and embed images you have uploaded from there.

If you need any help figuring out how to deep link on an image hosting site, make sure to ask. :)

EDIT: I've found a way to deep link using Google Drive, but it's probably more work than doing what I suggested above.

  13. Could you show us the link you've been trying to insert? If the image isn't deeplinked, you won't be able to embed it. If you can show us the link, we can determine if it's deeplinked or not, or if there's some other problem.

  14. For future reference, please check out the Q&A Compendium before posting questions in the Q&A and make sure to ask questions related to images in the Pictures Topic.

    1. Click the button in your text editor that looks like a little tree in a picture. It's right under the smiley face at the top of your text editor. Then enter in the link of your image, and it should be embedded into your post (you can read more about this in the Pictures topic).

    2. You can change the names of albums you create in the Gallery, yes. (Check out the related Q&A Compendium entry, and if you need further guidance, just ask :) ).

    3. Each time you want to create an album, go to the Gallery and click the upload button at the top right of the main Gallery page. The first option will ask if you'd like to create an album. Keep in mind that regular members are limited to 2GB of space in the gallery, where as Premier members get 10GB.

EDIT: By the way, don't apologize about asking questions! That's what the Q&A is for, and it's better that you get the information now than for you to make a mistake and have to ask about it later!

  15. Are you sure the image link is deep linked? Also, have you tried embedding the image using BBCode? Try clicking the light switch in the top left corner of your post box, then type in this code and see if it works:

  16. Lego Discussion should be your best bet. General LEGO questions generally go in Lego Discussion, whereas general questions related to the site [bZPower.com] as a whole generally go in General Discussion.

  17. Lessovikk44 is asking specifically about the BZPower gallery. Information about it can be found here, in the Q&A Compendium. There is, in fact, a whole section dedicated to the Gallery. :)

But just to share some general information about it, you can go to the Gallery by clicking the Gallery tab at the top of the page. In the Gallery, there is an upload button at the top right of the screen. When you click that, you can select or create an album to post your picture in, and then upload the image itself. Hope this helps!
