  1. With the return of Bionicle, I'm not sure if this would be a viable option. There may be a bit of activity now, though I personally haven't seen enough to merit its own forum, but when sets hit the markets and more and more is revealed, I foresee activity in the LEGO Discussion forum to decrease quite a bit. And that isn't exclusive to Mixels discussion, either.

  2. Ah ok! Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to check that out then! But just to make sure, is it ok to do this on the fan created media forums? Or will I need moderator permissions?

No problem. :) You are allowed to post works in progress (this is referring to video games) in the Fan Created Media forum as long as you have proof that you're working on them--meaning a demo or very descriptive screenshots (you may want to check with a staff to make sure the screenshots are enough to validate a topic). Similarly, you are also allowed to post video trailers for videos/movies you may be working on. Check out this post for more information.

  3. Hey, ThatRandomMatoran! Welcome to BZPower! First of all, member-created artwork generally goes in the Artwork forums. But, threads discussing artwork ideas, works in progress or sneak peaks are unfortunately prohibited unless otherwise noted by a staff member (the exception is the Fan Created Media and Comics forums). :\ Here is the rule stating so:

    * No project-planning topics.
You may ask for guest stars and helpers in your signature, however, and of course you may plan projects by PM/IM/etc. Also note that major fan project planning discussion may be tolerable in topics that feature some of the artwork produced "so far" -- see below for more.

Here's what you can do to get some feedback, though:

    1. Ask for feedback in your signature.
    2. Purchase Premier Membership and ask for suggestions on your blog.

Hope you enjoy your time here! :)

  4. ET and Arc have said it much better than I could, but really, why is the omission of a fifth option really even necessary? I mean, for the people that would prefer to pick a fifth option, it's kind of pointless to vote at all. So that's why I nulled. I'm not going to vote for something I don't agree with, and I'm certainly not going to try to voice an opinion that I don't even hold for the sake of...whatever the sake of this is.

  5. It is indeed Bionicle related. I kinda had this idea where I would update it like monthly or something like that (if it gets any reader that is). So would that go in epics or short stories?

If you plan on updating it, meaning you post successive chapters/parts of a story, then epics would be the way to go. If you plan on posting a short story, meaning you post only one story without any updates, then short stories would be the way to go. If it's comedic, whether it has multiple chapters or just one story is not so important. Anything that you intend to be comedic generally goes in the comedies sub-forum.

  6. I've got to say, the mods here seem overly anxious to close all sorts of threads, have done for years. If something isn't quite right or has been posted elsewhere or they just don't like it themselves then that'll be the end of it. And of course once it's closed you can't discuss why it's been closed without contacting the mod who has clearly already made their decision. I recently posted in a thread regarding another members mask collection and unique display method. It was an unintentional necro post (I didn't check date) and it was subsequently closed due to my actions. Now I understand that resurrecting old threads is frowned upon on ALL forums but the fact is, this was a unique thread with information that will likely not be posted again. The poster and I have gone on to private message regarding both of our displays but that's just private networking, I thought this was meant to be a social portal for fans?

I just don't understand the mods urgency with regards to closing topics down in general. Multiple times I've returned to my own 'for sale' thread and had it locked when I updated it with new items and re-established myself as a returning seller. Fine, I'm reviving an old topic but by locking it down all the mods really do is cause me to create a new identical thread. Why not just let it go? The point is, threads that are no longer useful will no longer receive posts, therefore essentially removing themselves from the public eye in their own way. Do the mods really need to be in such a hurry to brush these topics under the carpet? Do they really want to force the creation of new identical topics rather than allow the re-opening and continuation of old ones which will still contain relevant information to the poster who does so?

    Just saying...

It's not necessarily an issue of the mods "hurriedly and anxiously" closing threads. The fact is that there are revival rules governing each forum. Some have revival, others don't. The only reason the staff close these topics is because they are enforcing already established rules. Now, it could be debated whether or not topic revival should even be a thing anymore, but there is certainly a lot of reasoning behind it. The main reason I see is that reviving old threads that have stopped receiving much activity, especially a bulk of old topics, can crowd the forums, bumping active topics in their stead.

I can see what you mean about your "for sale" thread. Maybe you should create a Tracker ticket about ending revival in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum?

Also, Windy, this is a wonderful idea! Glad to see it being implemented! It will certainly give less room for error. :)

  7. I don't really think that "feminizing" sets really does much, to be honest. Before we can discuss the anatomical structure of the female Bionicle, we need to address the skewed gender ratio. Others have spoken of it above. Why discuss how "feminine" the female characters should be when there are so few female characters to begin with?

  8. I'd totally compose some music for Bionicle! :) But that isn't realistic at this point, so I'll go ahead and agree with the opinion that Bionicle should create it's own original, unique music. I'd personally like to hear some orchestral music, but, after the animation LEGO posted, I'm guessing they'll probably go for a more "cheesy" approach to Bionicle rather than the epic-style genre they had going before.

  9. I think you can still get a PayPal if you live in the UK, which is what BZP takes. What you need to do (I think) is get the right currency ratio between pounds and US Dollars. Hopefully Paypal can do the conversion for you, otherwise it might get messy.

PayPal is available worldwide, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm also pretty sure that PayPal converts currency ratios for you (at least it does for me :P ).

  10. The first post was 34, 503 characters  and the second post was 30, 235 characters.

So in other words, I'm being cut off just over halfway compared to your post above. o_O Could the fact that I include a banner in each post have something to do with it?

The banner could have something to with it, yes. But I doubt that it would supplant 30,000 characters worth of space. I'm guessing you've tried pasting the full text a second time in an edit?

Also, in my experience, editing incredibly long posts occasionally cuts off some of the text body. The easiest fix I've found is by removing all of the text (by cutting it), saving the changes, then pasting the text back in another edit.

  11. I don't know about the number of characters, but one post was about 5380 words and the other was 5335... so no consistency. =P

Alright, well, I just edited my post above. I was able to input 10,000 words into one post. But since that doesn't seem to correlate with the data you gave me, I'm guessing that posts are measured in characters. There were roughly 60,000 characters allowed when I tested it, so that might be the limit. Do you mind finding the character amounts for those posts? If you'd prefer not to, I can do so if I have the link to the post.

P.S. Again, I was really far off the limit. Sorry about that. I can only remember so much of what I've heard. :P

  12. Thank you. :smilepahrak: In retrospect, I probably should have looked for the Q&A section first.

Also, I wonder what my old bzp account has for a yearly mask...

Have all of your questions been solved? If so, glad I could help. :) But really, it was mostly fishers and Windy who did all the work. No need to thank me. :P

  13.

the funky words with the name, the masks

Looks like you're asking about the member title and yearly masks. The member title corresponds to your post rank, which changes depending on the amount of posts you have. The yearly masks, which are the spinning masks next to your proto bar, are indicators for how many years you've been on BZPower since you joined. For example, Windrider has this yearly mask: 11year.gif. This is the 11th yearly mask; thus, Windrider has been on BZPower for at least 11 years.

You can find a more detailed explanation here in the Q&A Compendium. Make sure to check it out fairly often when you have a few questions. It may answer some of your questions.

  14. But WHEN is tomorrow? Because I reached the quota early this morning, long before I'd upvoted 50 things. That suggests to me that it's still counting upvotes from yesterday, meaning that the rollover point is in a different time zone or something. If that's the case, it'd be nice to know when this afternoon/evening I should get the ability to upvote back. If not, then there must be some sort of error, because I just don't think I could have made 50 upvotes this morning before I got that message.

I would assume it calculates in 24 hour periods rather than in set days.

  15. From what I've heard in the past, the number of daily upvotes is limited to 50. Since this seems like a suggestion, I'd recommend posting it in the Tracker.

Personally, I've never actually upvoted enough posts to encounter the limit, but maybe I just don't upvote as much as most do?
